The CD/DVD drive malfunction: one missing, the other does not work
My HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop running Vista, came with a CD/DVD drive that appeared as a reader of CD (e) and (f) HD DVD player, with the hard drive and windows repair partition C: and D:. There, the E: drive seemed to have disappeared, and it is the reader who would access it when I put a CD to read from. The HD player never worked to this end and of course now that I only have the "F:" drive, and it tells me to insert a disc, despite the fact that there is a disc in there. And I have no idea of what I did.
I right click on the HD drive properties and go to the Hardware tab. WDC (Buncha numbers) ATA device is listed as type of hard drives, and UTIHAX (even numbers) SCSI CdRom Device is listed as a DVD/CD-ROM drives drive (Yes, with the '). Both work properly, according to the properties of the device.
I tried to disable and re-enable the it. I tried to uninstall and allow the pilot to resettle. Nothing doin ' sofar, so I was wondering if any of you have any other ideas I could try.
I'd love to hear them! Let me know what you need.

Windows 8 doesn't recognize DVD drive on Satellite P775 program-112 - code 19
I have a Satellite P775 program-112 that was previously under Windows 7.
This weekend I have upgraded to Windows 8 Pro RTM.Following the upgrade, the DVD drive is no longer recognized.
In Device Manager the drive "POLE * one BD - MLT UJ240EF" is a warning symbol, and the status of the device in the properties is "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its information of configuration (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19) ».
I tried everything I found on the web without success:
-Reinstall the driver (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-US/library/cc772156)
-Find and remove UpperFilters / LowerFilters values in the registry (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060): in my case, they were not presentI also tried to plug a player of DVD USB of my laptop - it failed with the same status of the device in Device Manager. This suggests the problem is not specific to my hardware DVD.
Any suggestions welcome!
Thank you
Don't have no real experience with Win 8 but from my point of view, it's a Windows system problem that also appears on an another old Windows systems.
The ODD driver is part of the Windows system (any Windows) so you would not be able to download and install a separate driver.
I had a similar problem with my old Win Vista laptop.
Could solve this problem by removing the CD/DVD drive in Device Manager
I restarted the laptop and the system could install the STRANGE once again without any yellow exclamation point -
Unit acted almost since. Don't recognize some discs, acknowledges some, even new program disks. When I can get it to play a DVD, it will appear yits in 4-5 minutes.

Satellite P205D-S7802: disk problem CD/DVD; driver damaged or missing
Hello
DVD unit has not recognized by the operating system.
When I open my computer the only display unit is C, there is no unit D.Then I go to the Device Manager to check it out, and I noticed that the DVD unit has problems, then I open the properties, and the error message is:
'HL-DT-ST DVD RAM GSAT20N ATA DEVICE.
Windows cannot load the driver for this hardware device. The driver may be corrupted or missing.First I thought it was a hardware problem, but I introduced the disc of windows vista at startup and the unit read it very well. Then I choose driver update of Device Manager and update told me that the best driver is already installed for the device.
I tried to replace the files .sys and .info for CD-ROMs, but nothing is happening.
What is happening, please help, is urgent I need to use my dvd device.Kind regards.
Try this:
Remove the drive from the Device Manager list CD/DVD
access the registry and delete the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters completely from the following registry key values:

Why I can't find my CD/DVD drive anywhere in my computer?
I know that I could not use my drive for awhile now because of this problem, and it gets really annoying. Somehow, my CD/DVD drive is completely absent from my laptop. It is not displayed in my computer, the Manager of devices, even in the BIOS, or other programs (Itunes, WMP, same Disc Creator). I don't know how this could be, as the Player opens perfectly fine (lights come one) and a disc rotates when I insert it, even if nothing is accessible from the laptop. I removed the drive from the laptop to see if it were to be resettled or anything, but it still doesn't work. The connection should work if the lights and the work surface. And for some reason, my laptop (which is unbearably slow) is incredibly faster, especially when it starts, as Windows starts without the CD/DVD drive in the laptop in about 20 seconds, compared to less than 5 minutes. I ran all kinds of "Fix - Its" Microsoft, and none of them does not work, tried to delete the upper and lower filters (I don't have a low filters for some reason any) and run all sorts of other programs to try to solve this problem. I don't know if reinstall Windows (and, as a result, pilots) can help, but in any case I have my CD/DVD isn't working. I tried also to proffer a virtual drive with MagicISO and research of new material from the virtual drive in the device without success Manager. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Windows 7: A cd to dvd device driver I'm missing?
Excuse me..
I have problem with win7, the problem is that after the victory to Flash successfully make my bootable flashdisk, then I plug the flashdisk on my 110-3500 HpMini, but after starting Setup win7, a box pops - up and theres something written there that "a required cd/dvd drive device is missing... blah blah..." Is there something wrong with my HpMini? I tried to cancel the program installation and then re insert it to another usb port, but it did not work... Please help me sir... Sorry for my bad English...
The wireless switch is on the front on the right side in the opposite of the power switch position.
Windows Dvd installers are much more likely to become corrupt than ISO files or installers of USB. They are not indestructible and are best kept in a DVD box for safekeping. All it takes is a simple scratch on the label of the DVD side and toast.
Disc info you provided are identified as a Western Digital Scorpio Black SATA2 320 GB hard drive. What is the product number and the name of the product of your mini?
Best regards

Being not recognized in dimension 8400 DVD drive
Hi all
I have a problem with my DVD drive in my dimension 8400 (about 3 years)
I can open the DVD player and insert DVD/CD but they are not recognized,
My computer is not present DVD player, there is no CD/DVD players present also in the management of devices.
I think the DVD player I have is the Philips DVD 8601 HH 16 x DVD + RW,
I had a similar problem about 1 year ago, but that has been fixed by updating the firmware/drivers. (although the DVD player doesn't "disappear" from my computer, it comes to refuse to play the disc at the time)
Im not a computer newbie, so I tried several things to try to make it work:
http://www.dellcommunity.com/supportforums/board/message?board.ID=dim_cdrom&message.ID=138730&query.ID=270189#M138730 I did steps 1-3 and 5, and nothing has worked.
Someone at - recommended step 4 too? Question about step 4: you have to clear the CMOS chip memory AND reset the default settings of the BIOS Setup? It was not clear from the guide on this forum.
I tried to download the updates of the Firmware, but when I tried to update it says "Device not found", logic, because the device is not - where on my computer.
That's my problem.
Thank you very much if anyone can help me
Perhaps the DVD player is just broken and I need to get a new one, but the fact that I can open and close the lid and the light Burns gives me hope that its stil alive: P
