my index.html makes differently if I name index.htm

I use dreamweaver to create a new Web site. During the test it (named index.html) home page renders correctly in firefox, but looks good in other browsers. I discovered that if I name index.htm or default.html it looks normal. The index.html file just seems wrong.

HI ccsjoe,
It depends on so many different things. If you need assistance with this code please try stackoverflow for some tips from developer.

However, in my experience, the difference in htm vs html is that there is no real difference. However, even if there is no real difference, if the files are not the same, they will be different. http://www.sightspecific.com/~MOSH/ww.../ext.html

  • bookmarks.HTML makes very differently in FireFox 4

    For years, I have been using and loving Firefox (including 4.0).

    For years, I have also exported my bookmarks on Firefox and use the file bookmarks.html as my home page.

    Now, Firefox 4 restores the file bookmarks.html very differently from previous versions of Firefox and other browsers also differently (for example, IE).

    The indentations disappeared when viewing bookmarks.html in Firefox 4. Unfortunately, it is not really easy to show you this within this forum text box, but I'll try.

    Firefox 4 shows something like this:

    Bookmarks menu

    General interest

    Markham Weather Forecast - Environment Canada
    The Weather Network - Markham
    The Weather Channel - Markham
    AccuWeather.com - Canadian Forecast Center

    ... etc.

    Firefox 3.6, IE and other browsers show something like this (note the indentations that greatly improve readability):

    Bookmarks menu

         General Interest

               Markham Weather Forecast - Environment Canada
               The Weather Network - Markham
               The Weather Channel - Markham
               AccuWeather.com - Canadian Forecast Center

               ... etc

    Is this a bug in Firefox 4? I would really like to see bookmarks.html rendered with the indentations.

    Am I missing something?
    Thank you.

    You can add this CSS code in the HTML file below the line with the meta tag, or use the copy method shown above by stormseye

    <style type="text/css" >
    dl > dt > dl {
     margin-left: 40px;
    }
    </style>

  • How to rename an index.htm file that has a different name?

    Hey everybody,

    It has been long since I was on a forum like this and it's been about 6 years I used RoboHTML regularly.

    We will generate our WebHelp (RoboHTML 7) helps. All of our projects usually index.htm (index_csh.htm and index_rhc.htm) as our main index files. However, the project I'm working on that has .htm < productname > and < productname > _csh.htm < productname > _rch.htm. The developers call the files index.htm, so I need to rename these three files in return. How can I do this?

    TOCA7

    Enter index .htm in the first field of the first window of the wizard to generate.

    Good luck

  • Can I make different versions of the pages of Muse?

    Hello

    I know I can do another master page. But can I make different versions of the single pages?

    As the customer wants just the logo to be blue instead of green.

    For the moment I want to take screenshots of pages with blue logo, then apply the new master page with different logo to all pages and export it again.

    You can also save the project muse together under a different name.

    I guess that's because you're still in the design process and the client does not know what works for their logo.

    The approach I would take is to fool the Muse project and separately to each site on the export.

    If it's a small site with a few pages and only one master assigned, you could duplicate all the slides (right click on a page in outline view and bookmark duplicate),

    Move them all at the end of the first design and assignment of a new master for them, when you export the site that you will have two sites under a URL.

  • Firefox won't open some pages index.htm

    I did not notice this problem until I built a personal web space on the Comcast site. I can launch the site using IE, but Firefox does not load the index.htm page. I have a number of index.htm files on my PC, and Firefox does not, either. If I rename the index.htm file, it will not always be open. It is not a sophisticated file. Here is the code:

    <HTML>
    <HEAD>
    <TITLE>Duffers Golf League</TITLE>
    </HEAD>
    <FRAMESET COLS="12%,*" border=0>
       <FRAME SRC="column1.htm" NAME="golfindex" MARGINWIDTH="0" MARGINHEIGHT="0" SCROLLING="auto" NORESIZE>
       <FRAMESET ROWS="25%,*" border=0>
    	<FRAME SRC="heading1.htm" marginwidth="0" SCROLLING=NO NORESIZE>
    	<FRAME SRC="dufmain.htm" NAME="mainfrm" SCROLLING="auto" NORESIZE>
       </FRAMESET>
    </FRAMESET>
    </HTML>

    I use this to launch the web site of my golf League. When I was with AT & T, it worked perfectly.

    I wonder if there is a setting to be changed to allow Firefox to open the index.htm files.

    I think you hit on it. I had handed over the maintenance of these pages to another Member of the League a few years ago and just took them at the time he left. He added comments to some of the source. Looking at the code, I delete SOME files on my PC, but didn't upload revisions. I guess that IE is not as sensitive at the end of tags. In any case, thanks for helping me to get back to the basics. I appreciate the help you provided!

  • Updates to Index.htm

    I did the updates of my home page (index.htm) in Dreamweaver CM³, saved and "put" on the remote server. They are not up-to-date on the online site. Could this be a problem of asp?

    This can be caused by a number of issues...

    1 servers are case sensitive, check your file name and links to verify that they have the same letter case

    2. is your index finger a .htm or .html on your site? Default DW, .html, if you put index.html and index.htm, the wrong one can be served to the Viewer, rather than the right one when you browse the site

    3. speaking of browsers, you may need to disable your browser's cache to see the most up to date file

    4 are you sure that you have uploaded to the correct location? If your Site definition has a missing or false remote root folder, you can simply download an incorrect location

    5. it might be an ASP problem, check the first 4 above before diving into your script

    Could you share a link to your site? Who can help limit.

  • What is the procedure to add "index.htm" to my homepage?

    I have a PC, Win 7 Pro, using contribute 6.5

    I am very inexperienced in this program.

    Okay, Yes. If you want your URL to shorten, you need an index page.

    Pretty simple to do. Open MyWebSite.htm, click on the 'New' button and choose "Copy the current page" and click 'Ok' and add the title.

    Then click on 'Publish' and change the name of the file index.htm and choose "publish". Edit: before you choose "Publish" the time of the second/final, click on 'Choose folder' and check that you save to the root of your site. It must do this by default, but it does not hurt to check.

    Later (once), return to MyWebSite.htm and choose file > Actions > Delete page so that you don't end up with two home pages.

  • Problem update index.htm

    Hello

    Recently got DW and had a local root folder problem that meant my index.htm page lost its graphics and the links stopped working. I fixed the problem thanks to this forum and made my change in my index.htm file.

    The issue has not disappeared, however. I downloaded the page via FileZilla and changes appear on my ftp. I can navigate to other pages, but when I try to go back 'home' (index.htm), it shows the old page that lacks all the graphics and has just placeholders and broken links.

    When I look on FileZilla, I see that the timestamp corresponds to my latest change, but the file size is not the same between my local root folder and my side ftp.

    When I go in google I put on my page with just. com I can navigate fine from there between pages, but as soon as I go to index.htm the old error page reappears. It looks like another file index.htm on my ftp but I checked and can't find anything. If you need the site is www.savlador-davis.com

    Thank you

    I can navigate to other pages, but when I try to go back 'home' (index.htm), it shows the old page...

    This sounds like a problem caching browser more than anything else.  Browsers store pages in memory to improve performance.  Some browsers like Chrome are real stubborn on this issue.    When I visit your site, what I see on your index.page.

    Refresh Ctrl + R might not be enough. Manually clear the cache of your browser of the key tools in the Panel or the shortcut Ctrl + Shift + Delete.    Also, try to view your site with another browser like Firefox, Opera or IE.

    Finally, you have a few code errors that need attention.  Missing a valid HTML document type declaration which may create display issues in some browsers.

    [Valid] Validation of the markup of http://www.salvador-davis.com/index.htm - W3C Markup Validator

    To solve this problem in DW, go to modify > Page Properties > title/encoding and choose a type of document corresponding to your code.  I recommend XHTML Transitional.  Repeat this procedure with the other pages of the site who have any type of doc.

  • Why used my index.htm work?

    Hours later, when I finally finished my index.htm file, I go to preview in the web browser > firefox and its very good. but when I upload to FTP and I go on my site, it's all distoted or it says FORBIDDEN...?

    Ok. So it turns out that the stylesheet is missing.

    You must download the file called "styles.css" in the same folder as the file 'index.html '.

    Who should take care of it. All other parts of the site are currently (I checked).

  • Contribute 4 Won ' t forget index.htm

    Hi, I'm a customer problem troubleshooting (I'm new to contribute, using the v4). One of the three sites I now administer did not upward to the correct home page because that there is both an index.htm index.html on the server page. I removed the irregular (index.htm) from the server, and may not contribute to forget. I tried:
    1 remove the connection and create a new, accessing the correct home page. Everything is OK until I opened the connection and I get a page not found error. If I add the extra "l" to index.htm, everything works OK.
    2 change the order help search for the default server settings Web pages, moving index.htm index.html below. Contribute does not take into account the order and still looking for index.htm.
    3 deleted index.htm in the list of default pages on the Web server settings. Contribute still seeks the index.htm.

    Two other sites have been initially implemented with page index.html and work fine. It must be a file, cache or something on the site or on my workstation, keep this setting. It's all just annoying because I can show the client how to get around it, but I want to fix it.

    Perhaps this is:

    1. in the menu, go to Edition, administer Web sites, select your site
    2. go in users and roles
    3. find your role
    4. click on change role settings
    5. change the setting in the field below "Home Page for users in this role.

    PowerPoint is a microsoft program and ms and adobe are not the same companies and do not have the same products.

    That said, your class probably uses an adobe product and probably displays a swf file.  the reason why you cannot view SWFs on ios devices is a matter of apple.  Apple won't allow flash on their devices player.

    use a computer with a web browser or a mobile android.  or look over the shoulder of someone who has one of these.
