My laptop speaker grilled

Hi all

My laptop is a HP Pavilion g6-1220SA and it is old about 2 yearls.

On Saturday, I was editing some videos and playback, heard a noise grinding, which was followed by a black smoke coming out of the vent to the left speaker.

I have the PC off, removed the battery and left for a while. He had a disturbing burnt plastic smell.

Today, I took the time to disassemble the laptop (Kudos to HP for the provision of comprehensive manuals) and it seems to me that the only thing that is not OK is the left speaker, which seems burned.

My questions on the forum, before taking the machine to a repair center are:

(1) what are the causes involved burn like that?

(2) it is likely that something is wrong with your laptop and the burning speaker is a symptom rather than the main problem?

Photo linked here:

Finally, I see that the speakers are connected by a pair of white wires and reading that is soldered in. If I remove a speaker, I have to get out them both. If I do that, I will always get the 3.5 mm headphone jack sound?

Thank you!

@NP_Lima

Hi all

I replaced the speakers and the situation seems to have returned to normal.

Later in the day, I again heard the creaking sound from the left speaker (even I heard before she grilled), all using Windows Movie Maker. I immediately cut the PC.

I plugged in the headphones and found that the noise was there as well. My conclusion is that something has been the cause of the problem before the sound reached speakers/headphones. I decided to re - install the audio drivers.

Previously, I had the IDT HD audio drivers. I uninstalled them and when the PC came back on the standard audio driver of Windows 8 is currently in use. I have no problems in the days that followed.

  • HP Envy 15 t (G0T59AV): HP Envy laptop speaker poor sound quality (particularly acute) as the volume increases.

I had been without my HP Envy laptop a few weeks after he bricked on me and I had to send in for repair, and when I came back the sound quality seems to be noticeably worse than what I remember. The sound in general seems a little intestine initially, and it does not handle certain tones fine treble, producing shrill notes that almost seem like they're clipping or something, as if it's too much for the speaker to manage. The volume level refers to it - it's much worse at higher volumes, but its volumes, it should be able to manage, and has dealt in the past. 30 is basically normal, I'll hear parts of it start happening about 40 volume or so, 60 sounds evil, and 80 is almost inaudible.

My first suspect is the dustbin of Beats Audio with what they sent this thing.  He gave me problems before. I fiddled with the Beats Audio settings for a bit and couldn't find a lot of luck. The strange thing is, I searched Beats Audio driver updates, and I came to the top completely empty. All links to them were either broken, be directed to the page of HP support containing the drivers for the specific device model questioned. The driver for my laptop page shows nothing about the drivers of beats. And my device manager doesn't seem to show that no driver present Beats, either, even though I SWEAR there drivers for them in the past. The only present audio device is the Realtek HD Audio driver. The Beats Audio utility in the taskbar does not seem to think there is something wrong, however, so I don't know what's the case. Can someone help me?

(I know of no reason that the question I sent my laptop in for repair would be linked to this, nor do I have any reason to believe that the person who repaired the laptop could have done anything, as all my files on my HDD seem to have been completely intact, but just for the sake of rigour : A couple of weeks, apparently caused by me accidentally stick a 3.5 mm headphone jack into the adjacent USB and damaged brick my laptop. The computer, stop immediately, if she was able to start right back up. The next morning, it was completely insensitive and would not start until it was. I knew with certainty that it is the USB at the time, I thought that it was unlikely that a damaged USB port might cause a full brick computer, but when I got back from repair, the repair summary said that the only thing to do for she was replacing a USB port.  Other than the good question, my computer was working perfectly since.)

No sound from internal speakers of my laptop, but during the test (by pressing F12 during startup Dell diagnostics enable) sounds from the speakers correctly in hardware test. Its also in the headphones, not any problem with headphones properly.
I have try it with various media players but the problem is to stay. Pilot about audio update.

You may be better to ask a Dell forum, as - http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3517.aspx

Apart from the obvious controls make sure that the speakers are not dumb, so click the "speaker" icon.

And verification of the sound card is listed and apparently activated and works in Device Manager.

45 2656 M which is the reference number of the entire scope of keyboard you need to get in order to get a new grille left speaker. (This includes other pieces as well, and I imagine you would cost a bit to get to replace)

The speaker holes contain a lot of dust and hair and I wonder if it is possible to remove the grids without breaking them. I can disassemble the eMac, if necessary, but I heard that you can just "pop" off the elderly speaker on eMacs grids of 700 to 800.

Not sure about the grids, but the 700 is a model of education I recall, so I doubt they jump off...

  • HP-r203tx: low volume in my laptop

Sounds in my laptop speaker is very low. I tried the option of development which was published earlier in the audio driver of forum.windows has been installed.am I supposed to install driver realtek. Help, please

In order to have full fuction of your laptop speakers, you will need Realtek audio driver of HP for your laptop model.  If still installed, you can use HP Recovery manager to re-download your specific Realtek audio driver.  Search for "HP Recovery Manager" in your charms to W8/8.1 bar to see if you still have the Recovery Manager.  From there on, you can press the tab "reinstall drivers or applications.  In this tab, find "Realtek High definition (HD) Audio Driver" and check this box.  It will be the most recent driver that HP has to your computer.

I know all this because I uninstalled my driver Realtek HP-change on my Envy 15 t. This driver HP-modified ruined the sound with external speakers because of its horrible fluctuation and compression via the Beats Audio Panel.   I uninstalled this driver and installed the latest Realtek driver on their own Web site.  Now, I have impressive sound with external speakers, but the internal Laptop speakers are weak and dull at best.  I don't use my laptop speakers much, so I'm fine with that until HP decides to solve this problem of fluctuation and compression with the Realtek driver.

  • How do I eject the speaker (audio beats) for cleaning coverage

My laptop is hp (dv6-7180se) and I want to clean the perforated lid which exists on speakers beats... Look at the picture:

Please I need a few details to eject safely

    Hello @Fantastico,

I read your post on how you're looking to clean the surface of your laptop speaker, and I'd be happy to help you in this case!

As noted in Service and Maintenance Guide for your laptop, the only way to remove the top cover, where the speaker is to:

    1. Turn off computer
    2. The laptop power down by unplugging the power cord
    3. Disconnect the battery (see battery page 46), then delete the following:
    • Hard drive (see hard drive on page 47)
    • Optical drive (see optical drive on page 54)
    • Keyboard (see Keyboard page 57)

Unfortunately, some removal of the screws will be necessary to remove the top cover and the speakers. The steps below should help to remove the cover in order to clean underneath:

    1. remove the seven Phillips PM2, 5 × 8. cover the 5 screws that anchor the top of the computer

    2. remove the three Phillips PM2, 5 × 5. cover the 5 screws that anchor the top of the computer.

    3. remove the nine Phillips PM2, 5 × 3. cover the 5 screws that anchor the top of the computer.

4 place the right computer, with the front facing you.

    5. open the computer.

    6. release the corresponding ZIF connectors and then disconnect the following cables
    map of the system:

    Office button power cable (1)

    (2) TouchPad button Board cable

    (3) to fingerprint card reader cable

    (4) top of page cable speakers

    7. remove the three Phillips PM2, 5 × 5. cover the 5 screws that anchor the top of the computer.

    8. lift the back edge of the top cover (1) to the left and right sides have abandoned
    the base box.

    9. remove the cover (2). Make sure not to damage the thin base (3) around inside of blade
Bay optical drive when you remove the top cover.

    10. reverse this procedure to install the lid once more.
