My outlook express will let me no longer to remove most of my incoming messages.
I have windows XP and recently my outlook express will delete all messages. I can probably remove messages about one in 20.
Spend most of your messages out of the Inbox if you can move the messages you want to record off deleted items, and sent items. Locate the OE message store and then close OE.
Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.
In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.
With OE closed, find the Deleted Items.dbx and Sent Items.dbx files and delete them. New files will be created automatically when you open OE.
Compact all folders as described below.
To avoid this in the future:
Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.
Information on the maximum size of the .dbx files that are used by Outlook Express:

After you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.
Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

You have apparent dbx file corruption.

My outlook express will not delete some e-mail, how to fix this?
I tried to remove a few emails and it won't let me. I was able to move it to the junk e-mail folder, but not delete it. I also can't just delete it in the junk e-mail folder. Any ideas?
First of all, OE doesn't have a native junk folder. However, I assume that you have the damaged dbx files.
Spend most of your messages out of the Inbox and move the messages you want to record off deleted items, and sent items. Locate the OE message store and then close OE.
Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

My saved Inbox messages disappeared and it is said that it is downloading new messages, but then stops and gives me the abov error message: Protocol: Pop3.Port 110.Secure (SSL): No.ErrorNumber:0x800co:33
Can someone please help?
Are you sure that this error message is not 0x800co133?
Your Inbox is damaged due to become bloated and/or lack of compaction.
1: view | Current view. Show all Messages is verified?
2: If Yes to the #1, see if you have an Inbox.bak file in the Recycle Bin of Windows and if so, what is the date of creation?
3: If Yes to 1 and 2, after the return before doing anything else.
4: If so #1 and not #2, you will need a tool to recover lost messages if you wish.
With OE closed, find the box of Inbox.dbx and rename it to Inboxold.dbx. A new Inbox will be created automatically when you open OE.
Then you will need a tool to run the Inboxold.dbx file.

Outlook Express will not accept accept a change of password to connect to the server
Outlook Express has been working very well to access my Verizon email account. I had the opportunity to change my verizon account password. Now, I can not Outlook Express to accept the change of password. I've seen several comments on this subject in previous years, but for some reason some can't find a resolution for this.
Hi Bruce and Vondo,
The problem has been fixed. I got to speak to a representative of different Verizon tech who confirmed that the problem was indeed a problem with Verizon and had nothing to do with Microsoft. After confirming that I had taken all the possible correct steps, with the help of a L2 tech 3, he made the necessary adjustments on the side of Verizon. Although he did not specify what has been done to correct the problem, he says that my account is in a loop of "authentication", which was caused when I changed my password for Verizon. It should not have happened, but he recognized immediately what was wrong wihen it looked at my account.
Congratulations to him personally to admit that it was a matter of Verizon and correct the problem.
