Hello

Shutting down your computer will not harm it.
Hibernation is basically the same thing as shutting down the computer. The power is off, the hard disk is turned off. The difference is that mode hibernation when you turn on your laptop that applications will start from the point that you left them, but when you shut down your computer all unsaved data will be lost. Hibernate is used a lot on notebooks because on the event of running out of battery all unsaved data will be lost if you have to be fast enough and save your work before your laptop lose all it's power.
In windows 8:
1. right click on the battery icon on the bottom right of your screen corner
2. Select the power Option
3. on the site on the left of the window, you will see choose what the power is going to make buttons
4. you can choose from there if you want to put into hibernation when you press the power button (battery or Plugged In)
5. you can also scroll down and select Hibernate in the stop settings in order to see a stop in the drop-down list also.
6. save the changes

I did a fresh install of windows 10Prox64 on this laptop which is originally pre-loaded with windows7 Prox64. I installed the drivers on the disc included. now, every time the laptop into hibernation or sleep I can't wake him up - the screen blinks several times then turns white. Nothing comes on the screen even not the mouse pointer. I can only continue by making a forced power off feeding and when I start her works normally as long as he does not sleep. I installed all the updates driver/Windows with the same result. Is there something else I can try other than to return to HP?

    HI Lotto,

Please download and install the software HP support assistant from this link:

    http://WWW8.HP.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?JumpID=va_r602_us/en/any/PSG/pl_ot_ob_ds_pd/hpsupportassistant_cc/DT & _sm_au_ = i7VQZMWMQRfwpVps

It will help to identify and correct the missing drivers and updates also.

This link also contains manuals on how to use HP Support Assistant. Make sure that you are connected to the internet during this operation.

If this does not work, you can try to reset your power options "by default" in the microsoft windows system.

and in the end, as a workaround, you can modifty power plan options to avoid hibbernation or standby mode.

    Hey Buddy,

Sometimes, these problems of hibernation / suspension are caused by some programs that can't be closed from vista. Or your toshiba powersaver works bad, maybe some settings have been
badly configured through that-I-know-what program or something else.

I suggest you first: when you try to hibernate/suspend, then try pressing CTRL-ALT-DEL to see what applications are STILL running. Try closing the applications in the order of

    Hello

Step 1: Check if you are able to boot in safe mode. If you are able to boot into safe mode, and then try to perform the clean boot to safe mode and check.

From your computer by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs so that you can determine if a background program is interfering with your game or program. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot".

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    1. click on start and then click Run.
    2. type msconfig and click OK.

The System Configuration Utility dialog box appears.

    3. click on the tab general, click Normal Startup - load all services and device drivers and then click OK.
    4. When prompted, click on restart to restart the computer.

Step 2: Run the check disk hard disk command. (You will be able to try this step if you are able to start in safe mode or in normal mode with success)

  • Run the script automatically when Windows goes into hibernation or wakes up?

    Hello

I use the group policy feature in Windows XP to run scripts automatically when you open a session or logoff.

But it is also possible to make a script run automatically, whenever a Windows-xp machine is about to Hibernate? And also when it wakes up from hibernation?

    The clues how to proceed?

A funny hibernation is that if you put into hibernation and power then upwards and don't 'do' nothing - like press a key or move the mouse (just to sit and watch), in 300 seconds (5 minutes), XP will go back into Hibernation automatically.  Try it!

XP does because after it comes out of Hibernation, if XP detects that there is nothing to 'do', he thinks he might be from Hibernation by accident and goes back to "sleep" and said "why you wake me up?

That's why when people hibernate during the night and their machine turn on the morning he wakes up, they make their coffee or breakfast and return later to see that they have the power of their machine again.  If they think something is wrong, but things are working as expected.

One way to fix this, is to use a third-party tool that uses the command line to simulate a mouse movement.   It is enough to prevent the rehibernating while you are on XP.

To simulate a movement of the mouse as soon as your system is equipped with Hibernation, you will need to download the nircmd.exe file.

There are many other utilities of vouchers on NirSoft main page:
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/

To simulate the movement of the mouse, download the file nircmd.exe here

    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/nircmd2.html

Put the nircmd.exe file in a folder which is somewhere in your path (c:\windows\system32, etc.) or consult the path in your command file. I put the nircmd.exe file in my c:\tools folder where I keep other things.

If you do not have Hibernate enabled in your Power Options, tab hibernation, it will put your system on Stand-By instead of Hibernation.

Create a batch file (I called mine hibernate.bat and put the nircmd.exe in my c:\tools folder) and put this line in your hibernate.bat file:

    off @echo
    Powrprof.dll, SetSuspendState c:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe Hibernate
    c:\tools\nircmd.exe 10 10 movecursor
    movecursor-10 c:\tools\nircmd.exe - 10

Save the new file hibernate.bat on your desktop or somewhere, you can retain and double-click it to run the batch file.  When you are sure that it works very well, and then drag the new desktop icon to your quick launch area (to the right of the button start), change the icon, rename, etc, so it looks a bit better and then you can click on new quick launch when icon to call the file hibernate.bat.  Now just remember to use the hibernate.bat file (which could be on your desktop with a nice icon) instead of the menu to turn off the computer.

The first command will put the system into hibernation, and then when XP comes from hibernation (even days later), run the following commands in the batch file.  These last two commands will simulate a slight mouse movement and who will deceive XP into thinking there is a reason to get out of hibernation and it will not go back to sleep.  Then when you come back from your coffee, your system is always waiting for you.

If your case, your hibernate.bat might look something like:

    off @echo
    order 1 run before hibernation
    2 run before hibernation command
order 3 to run before hibernation

    Powrprof.dll, SetSuspendState c:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe Hibernate

order 4 to run when coming out of hibernation
command 5 to run when coming out of hibernation
order 6 to run when coming out of hibernation

    Hello lkstar,

    a. don't you make changes to the computer before the problem of hibernation on your computer?

Often, a laptop goes into hibernation when the power is low. I suggest that you plug the laptop in charge for one when you try to turn it on.

Plug the AC adapter and try turning on the laptop using the power button.

I suggest that you make sure that the battery indicator indicates that the battery is charging while the computer is connected.

You can also use the battery completely (with the AC adapter connected) and then try to turn on the laptop.

  • laptop is not put into hibernation after "standby mode"

    Reference Dell dear community,

    I have an Insipron 17R core i5 zm2410, NVIDIA Geforce 525 m, win8 64bits and I am facing a problem with hibernation mode / sleep.

About 2 weeks ago my laptop went mode hibernation after beeing in mode 'sleep' for 2 hours on battery (for total draining of the battery to advoid).

Now, it is not do it anymore but remains on "sleep" during all the time and drains the battery.

I usually remove the power cable from the laptop during the night because of the noise of the adapter and the laptop always put into hibernation after beeing in mode 'sleep'. I went over the configuration in options plans and power supply and even reset and configured them again, without success.

The only changes made to the system are important updates of windows

I'm grateful for any suggestions or solutions.

Have you checked to see if Hibernation is still active? Open an administrator mode command prompt and type: powercfg/h on.

The best way to solve this problem is to obtain the latest Windows Vista service pack. If there is a reason why you are unable to install the latest Windows Vista service pack, the best thing is to get the fix that is mentioned in Microsoft KB 929734article.

  • Why my computer constantly goes into hibernation?

    Hi all ~

Recently, I noticed that my computer goes into hibernation by itself when not used for a period of time. I confirmed that my power settings dictate this behavior so that plugged in or on battery power.
Instances that I noticed this, mainly, in mode "sleep" overnight and although slow, act as a "wireless card" for my personal router.
When this happens, it is not hot or lack of power, he is simply there. I can't find a scheduled task so it hibernates, or an action to be left in standby mode or has been inactive for a while.

    Summary and things to know:
My computer into hibernation by itself, is not a scheduled task so it hibernates, it is not any form of action in my settings to be able to dictate the hibernation, it hibernates generally with more than 90% of battery remaining power and is never hot when it enters this mode.
