My Pentium Dual-Core E5200 showing as Single

Good to start with my computer information-

Windows XP
Home Edition
Version 2002
Service Pack 3

I have a Pentium (r) Dual-Core E5200.

My Device Manager shows two hearts, but my Task Manager displays only one and my computer is slow massively. I had a problem a month ago and reinstall windows. It took me a week to get installed and working properly. My bios has Multicore multiprocessing (SP?) active. My Manager to design shows my computer (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC. I have a second option for Standard PC. I also tried to find other solutions to get it working properly, but it forced me to change my boot.ini file and I have no one. Yes I did all the stuff to show all hidden files and the only one that shows is C:\WINDOWS\pss and is called boot.ini.backup. All the solutions or who need more information help get my processor works properly. I at one point had show as a dual-core in my task manager. That was before resettlement.

Hello Stephen,

I have taken note of the fact that you do not have a boot.ini file.

Windows XP is able to boot without a boot as long as the boot drive is on multi (0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (1) \WINDOWS.

If the machine has a floppy drive, it may be useful to create a boot diskette to try the steps mentioned in the article that you have found-in this way, you can change the boot.ini without fear of being unable to start abruptly.  You will need to create a new boot.ini file by using the following article:

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/289022

You should be able to use the boot.ini file example text with a certain degree of success, there is always a certain amount of trial and error with this.

This is being done, you can create startup disk that will allow us to experiment with the boot.ini file:

1 format a diskette on another Windows XP computer with the same service pack.

2 copy the NTLDR, NTDETECT.COM, and BOOT. INI files on the disk.
These are placed in C:\ and most likely will be hidden.

3. you can then use this diskette to a distressed boot.
Note that you must work with the path of startup in the boot.ini file, until it works.

Alternatively, you can create this disk of your Windows XP machine until problems arise and make it available as a "just-in-case measure.

Let us know how it goes.

Best regards

    Hello

    I have goggled a bit and found that this laptop Satellite L30-105 was certainly equipped with the Intel Pentium Dual-Core CPU T2060 1.6 GHz.

    I m similar L30 owner as a second notebook and at first start, I noticed that the Device Manager recognized the incorrect CPU.
    I've simply removed the entry CPU since the Device Manager and rebooted again the Vista again recognized the CPU and advised the right CPU.

  • Intel Virtualization Technology - Thinkcentre A58 - Pentium Dual-Core E5300

    Hello

    I am considering buying a ThinkCentre A58 with a clocked Intel E5300 processor
    Model/type: 7515-7SG

    I would like to run "Windows XP Mode" on Windows 7 Pro.

    For the XP Mode, I need ability IVT.

    My Question is:

    The Lenovo 7515-7SG come with an E5300 CPU which is capable Intel virtualization technology?

    IVT depends on the TECHNICAL Code of the E5300 CPU.

    Intel offers CPU E5300, who do not have the ability of IVT.

    E5300 know:
    http://Ark.Intel.com/product.aspx?ID=35300#specs

    E5300 Code TECHNIQUE

    * SLB9U: IVT No.
    * SLGTL: IVT Yes

    Check the E5300 features supported:

    http://processorfinder.Intel.com/list.aspx?ParentRadio=all&ProcFam=2841&SearchKey=

    Even if Lenovo ships an E5300 with SPEC Code SLGTL - needs a BIOS that does not block IVT.

    ... made the A58 BIOS IVT available?

    I already searched the Lenovo Thinkcentre A58 product support site - has not found something valuable.

    Nothing should happen to your PC.

    Worst case, it's that the PC does not start upward.  Replace your original processor in and it should be good.

    Best case scenario is that works, and you're in luck because that would be a good cooler processor running than a Pentium D 960!

  • Inspiron 530 s CPU Upgrade - why some Dual Core and not others?

    Hi all

    Inspiron 530 s been chugging along fine (although strong), but has now been replaced, so decided to take a look inside, radiator & fan felt loose so unscrewed it and he lifted directly out absolutely no resistance, so I think that the cpu and the radiator cleaning and put thermal paste on would be a good idea.

    When I opened it, I thought that I might as well upgrade the processor as older bicoeur are going for about $10-15 here, (he currently has a 1.87? double heart in it), so I got a reading of the forum to find what was possible

    from the bottom of post

    quote - shesageordie

    Inspiron 530 s has a mother FoxConn G33m02 meets the specifications of Dell and will support the following Socket LGA 775 processors:

    Before installing the processor, that you should check that you have BIOS Version 1.0.15 or above, when support for the new Intel processor has been added.

    Note: The Quad Core 2 processors are not supported by the Inspiron 530 s [Slimline]

    Bev.

    Theres now my problem

    Seem some of the processors used cheap available locally does not not at these figures (and they seem to be somewhat of Eug than those that match)

    for example the E8200 E6850, E7200, what of these processors prevents them from working?

    And as a note aside will upgrade the radiator and the fan, if I get a different processor?

    Nigelt74

    The E7200 and E8200 are 65w/45nm Wolfdale processors and should work.

    The E6850 is a 65w/65nm Conroe and will not work

    There should be no need to replace the entire radiator/fan of the 530 Inspiron s, but remember to check the version of the BIOS before installing the processor.

    Hi John,.

    Thanks for posting your question on the Microsoft community.

    I would like to know some information about the problem so that we can help you better.

    What is the brand and model of your computer?

    Thank you for details on the issue.

    I suggest you run "utility update Intel driver" that keeps your system up-to-date.

    It detects the driver updates are relevant to your computer, and then helps you install quickly and easily.

    You can download it from this link:

  • 64 bit Dual Core Pentium (E2220)

    Hi, I'm running XP 32 bit on a Pentium Dual Core. Its supposed to be 64-bit compatible (CPU - Z shows EM64T as characteristic and the site Web, Intel said its 64-bit compatible), but when I try and install Windows Server 2008 RC2, it says I do not have a CPU 64-bit capable.

    I installed it on my fine i7, but I encountered a problem that were freezing just colleagues now just as it starts, I am running it on Windows 7 RC1 on the i7, so I guess maybe it's a contributing factor, so I wanted to give it a go on the old XP machine.

    It is the CPU or I have to do something for the VM first then he will run 64-bit?

    VT - x is required for 64-bit processors Intel customers.  See KB 1901.

  • E8600 (E0 stepping) never confirmed to work in Inspiron 530 dual-core?

    Looking to upgrade my Inspiron 530 (0RY007 mobo) to E8600 (E0 stepping) to run a sweet little dual-core as long as possible (other mods are already underway).  I've seen some posts around here like this - http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3514/p/19333906/19702557.aspx - saying an E8500 with E0 stepping will work on BIOS version 1.0.15 and later, but just trying to confirm the e8600 (E0 stepping) BIOS v 1.0.16 working before we get into a situation of having to return one with the explanation that I was not sure it would work in my particular application.  I have never seen someone post back as the E0 stepping actually works (and what BIOS they run, because I don't want to 'upgrade' to 1.0.16 to 1.0.18 due to problems of DVI at 1.0.18).  Thanks in advance.

    The relevant facts (for mods, see my signature below):

    Motherboard: 0RY007 (530 variant with flexible connection, no a/b/c/d version)

    CPU: 2.0 GHz E2180 Pentium dual-core

    BIOS: 1.0.16 (not interested in version 1.0.18 due to problems with DVI connectivity)

    This works.  After the Dell forums and Googling the whole web to research and finding no confirmation that the Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 would work in a Dell Inspiron 530 early vintage, I decided to take a chance and try it myself.

    I use the BIOS.15 (not the derniere.18 version available on the Dell website) and the E8600 started very well and (Windows Vista 32 bit) reports that it is the Core 2 Duo E8600 and runs at 3.33 GHz specified.  Sweet!  Using the stock power supply and processor heat sink / fan Assembly.

  • Parallels-import: Dual Core = single core?

    Hello

    I try just VMWare Fusion (any Parallels 7 VM), everything works rather smooth and fast compared to the Parallels, but when I run Dragon Naturally Speaking, I thought that the profile has been initially registered with a processor dual-core and now I would have a single processor Core, and that it would mean a loss of recognition quality and performance of this software.

    Well, you see, I'm rather new to VMWare Fusion, but I would just like to know what to do to remedy the situation (if possible without reinstallign the heap).

  • Error during asynchronous script runing DIAdem of labview on dual core processor

    Need urgent help / advice here!

    A kernel works well... double heart generates error: error in (line: column 17,: 1): error opening object. The currently open object has no subobjects. Forgotten ObjClose?

    The main software built in labview for data acquisition and analysis generates a PDF report at the end of a test, using DIAdem. For this I use the tiara express vi in labview to generate a report of multi page, in which case I use for loop to go through an array of strings for each page. This loop has a registry change too. After each page I run a script to set a few parameters such as linear/log, start/end and line thickness using the DIAdem Connectivity Toolkit. See the script below:

    Call GraphObjOpen("2D-Axis1")
    Call GraphObjOpen ("2DXAxis8_1")
    D2AxisXDivMode = 'linear '.
    D2AxisXScaleType = "start/end of manual.
    D2AxisXBegin = 20
    D2AxisXEnd = 20000
    Call GraphObjClose ("2DXAxis8_1")

    Call GraphObjOpen ("2DYAxis8_1")
    D2AxisYDivMode = 'linear '.
    D2AxisYScaleType = "full automatic".
    D2AxisYBegin = 0
    D2AxisYEnd = 0
    Call GraphObjClose ("2DYAxis8_1")

    C = 1 to CurveNoMax
    If D2CurveObj (c) = "" then exit for ' c
    Call GraphObjOpen (D2CurveObj (c))
    D2CurveLineWidth = 0.75
    Call GraphObjClose (D2CurveObj (c))
    NEXT ' c

    Call GraphObjClose("2D-Axis1")

    There is also a screenshot of the vi: (script file is generated by the Dscript vi and saved on a disk. then the path is passed to the tiara script vi.)

    I think it is, after the first page of the report is complete to the second page tiara ALWAYS shows error as shown above. However, on my P4 laptop with single core (without hyperthreading) its works very WELL EVERY TIME with a given number of channels/pages of the report.

    My chain of thought is the ultra-fast dual core is something in parallel, so no waiting for page previous complete or complete his purpose of closing! However, in my loop for, I use a shift as before named register, certainly this kind of loop can be divided on multiple threads of carrots/parallel? because it must wait for the answer from the previous. ! ? ! ? Im running LV 8.6 on WinXP for this project and I don't even think treatment multicore for loops for is included in this version.

    The other thing is... This script allows to launch at the end on the dual core until I added the last part that uses a loop for to get all the lines of the chart to be the thinkness I need. What this loop for the guilty? Can I stop to run on multiple cores/threads? I read a post by saying that there is tiara 8 support multi core. This triggered my doubt

    As always, your comments are most appreciated

    AL

    Hi Al,.

    I have a theory, but only you can test.  In your screenshot of the VI, you have the Boolean value of entry for the tiara run with asynchronous Script.vi = TRUE.  My theory is that if you modify this boolean (and all others like him) asynchrous = FALSE, the error will not occur on the multicore computer.  The other thing you could try would be to consolidate all orders report that relate to a REPORT page in a single call to tiara ActiveX.  In the screenshot below, you have at least 2 distinct call of screw DIAdem, so it's at least 2 separate ActiveX calls for a REPORT sheet.

    Here's what I think is happening.  On a multi-core computer, there is the potential for different orders of LV ActiveX tiara to run on different hearts, which can lead to a problem of synchronization on the side of the tiara.  DIAdem 11.x and earlier works exclusively on 1 CPU, so incoming ActiveX controls should be properly sequenced by the tiara ActiveX task list.  Theoretically, tiara must serialize all incoming ActiveX controls (no matter which CPU processed them) in the order that they arrived at the Server ActiveX DIAdem.  The side sending, the execution of LabVIEW data flow should theoretically ensure that all ActiveX applications are sent in the correct order.  But it is theoretically possible that queue processing ActiveX of the operating system cannot send all the ActiveX controls to DIAdem in order that he receive them LabVIEW - IF YOU have SELECTED PROCESSING ASYNCHRONOUS.
