My printer interrupts communication with my PC when the P.C. goes into Standby Mode. Why?

Until yesterday, the printer worked fine.  There is no cable or hardware change any.  I am running Windows XP with a jet of Lexmark color printer.

When I restart the printer works fine.  However when the order goes into standby or hibernation mode, I can print is no longer when the box comes back active.  I get a message that "there is a communication error with the printer.  To correct this problem, a box appears I should go to start/settings/printer and make sure the "Enable bidirectional support" box is checked.  Unfortunately, I can't access the settings of the printer directly from the start menu.

However, if I click on 'Options' that is displayed when the printer stops and I click "Troubleshooting", I don't see that the "enable bidirectional printer media" is more verified.  If I check, I get a message saying "printer is busy".  If I click on start again I get the same message and the "enable" box is unchecked.  If I hit Cancel, the box is also disabled.  I enter a loop that does not end.

Any ideas how I can access the printer directly from the start menu settings?  Or how to prevent the impression of no longer communicate with my PC when it goes into sleep mode?

Thank you much, long in advance for any suggestions you may have.

It is a Lexmark Z-52.  After 8 hours of trying many different, including the link ideas that you suggested, I have determined that as a result of some recent Microsoft Download, the printer would work only if I used the Dell printing device incorporated in the installation software.  If I tried to install the Lexmark printer from the installation disc, I got the persistent problem.  I deleted all but access to the printer through the installed also origin and everything of fine.

When I need to change the cartridges and align the jets, I install the Lexmark program, align the print cartridges and then remove the program Lexmark, using the default value of Dell for the printer remaining.

It works, but why I had a problem, I don't know.

TNX for the comments!

If Windows Vista SP2 can not always be installed, I suggest to download the stand-alone Installer and install it in clean boot Mode.

Step 2: Download the installer of Windows Vista SP2 Standalone

    2. click on 'Services', check "Hide all Microsoft Services" and click on 'Disable All' (if it's not gray).
    3. click on 'Start', click 'Disable all', click 'OK' and restart the computer.

Note: Disable temporarily the startup group only prevents the start up programs from loading at startup. This should not affect the system or other programs. We can manually run these programs later.

    4. double-click the downloaded standalone installer and follow the instructions to install Windows Vista SP2.

To restore the computer to a Normal startup, repeat step 1 above. Then click "Normal startup" in the general tab, click on "OK" and restart the computer.

The cause was not determined, but evidence tends to a disturbance in the download or installation process, with one of the errors in the event log is an error in checksum on one of the modules. With a large file, 745 meg, the mean time to failure on a LAN network is probably shorter than the download time.  The installation process was probably longer than the time that the system has increased...  Corrective actions for Microsoft could include more small download / install, not allowing an automatic installation for automatic download over a certain size, or deal with the best controls during installation to intercept the checksum error.  Duane G. Well, I activated the incoming and outgoing settings under sharing files and printers in the firewall. I've also set up a connection between the router and the printer security rule. Since then, I was able to ping the router and the router by its IP number regularly for more than 72 hours. I hope that this solves the problem and everyone helps the dilemma.

  • my notebook, ProBook 450 G2 go goes into sleep mode when well even parameters of energy set to never.

My notebook, ProBook 450 G2 goes into sleep mode when well even parameters of energy set to never. The operating system is Windows 7 Professional.  I had a technician Microsoft verifiez_ the. I also had HP tech check the. They both said that it was a hardware problem. I sent it to HP to fix it and they replaced the motherboard and said that they have tested. When I came back, it entered into mode 'sleep' again. I left my laptop for about 15 minutes and when I came back it was in mode 'sleep'. This always occurs after the laptop remained for about 15 minutes.

    Does anyone have a solution?

I sent my laptop repair HP. They replaced some cables and motherboard, but it does not solve the problem. They finally replaced the Windows 7 operating system. Basically they gave me a new system. I spent 3 days to update windows with all the updates and then re-loading of my programs. What a mess!

    Hi @JNBLanocha

My stomach says mt that perhaps you have the printer USB cable connected to a USB 3.0 port on your computer instead of a 2.0 port. The image below is some examples of 3.0 ports.

3.0 ports are supposed to be backwards compatible, but I've seen questions arise.

    I wonder if the cable you are using is the computer and causing problems pulling power. All I can do at this stage is to assume and to gather information. Please post back with the answers to the following questions;

    1. You have a USB connection
    2. If the USB is connected, you use a 2.0 port or 3.0?
    3. Again, if you use a USB connection type, have you tried another USB cable? It could be a cable problem.
    4. You put XP or you remove XP and install Windows 7?
    5. You have your printer connected directly to a power outlet, or you are using a power strip/bar, or a surge protector?
    6. Now this may sound silly, but you have a timer on your computer, such as the hibernate after so many minutes and maybe the computer and the printer are set at the same, it is possible the moment closures / sleep coincide.

I look forward to hear from you and to work towards a solution.

    Hi BSRC$, in stock

    1. You have security software installed on the computer?
    2. You receive an error message when you restart the computer?

Reinstalling Windows XP to the factory setting would not be the first option.

It is possible that some third-party programs or the services installed on the computer interfere with the installation of service pack 3.

I suggest that you try to uninstall service pack 3 from the computer by using the recovery console and subsequently ask the article below for what to do before installing the service pack 3on the computer.

If you have problems to compress the minidump files copy the minidump files to another location such as a folder on the desktop

In addition, you do not necessarily have compress the minidump files, you can download one at a time.

When my computer goes into sleep mode, I have to press the power button to turn it back on.  I used only having to press a key on the keyboard.

Can someone tell me how to solve this problem, as if it was before?

Well, on the theory that your computer is awkward, try to change the settings to another thing and OK your way out the control panel.  Then go back and put them in the way they were and OK your way out.  Occasionally, it will reset the internal parameters and things can return to normal.

  • Continue to application play when the device goes into sleep mode

    Hey guys,.

wondering if anyone knows how to maintain an active application when the unit goes into fashion watches?

My application needs continue to work when the device goes into sleep mode if he went in that State by itself, or if the user put it to sleep.

Yes I tried it on a physical device. It works, I promise you

To clarify, here is what you will see when using KEEP_AWAKE:

1 device shall not sleep when the application is currently active

    2. the device shall not sleep if the application is reduced, and you are in mode carousel

3 device WILL sleep if the user switches to another application and full screen.

In addition, another thing to know, if the unit is not assigned to the showcase mode, which is not by default, the audio stops when the user leaves your app. This is not related to sleep and is totally out of our control, but could be a good thing to add to your product details.

  • When a printer is replaced with a refurbished unit, the original printer must be returned?

I got a refurbished LJ Pro M1217nfw printer to replace the same original printer whose LCD screen become defective during the warranty period.  The documentation that accompanies the refurb unit, titled "Program of upgrade of Hewlett-Packard," provides instructions to return the original product HP via UPS, but he also says, "You can choose to keep your original product" and that there is no additional charge for either return or keep the product.  The refurb unit was not an 'upgrade', but a replacement at the expense of HP.  I'm confused.  What is the policy?

    C2PE,

Please provide me the information to your account. It seems that the documentation provided with your printer for replacement covers the upgrades and replacements. In your specific case as you say you were not doing an upgrade, but rather a replacement, you will need to return the defective item. If you had paid for the upgrade you could keep the other printer. I can see how this would have been a bit confusing on your part for sure. Hope this helps you.
