My printer prints pink

My printer started printing pink only and I've changed the cartridge, but it still prints that rose. It works if I print just black black but if I do black and white the white part turns pink.  Is it possible that I've changed my dominant color pink? How can I fix?
Thank you

Hi ecka.

What cartridge did you change?  If the only color that is printing is pink; There is some kind of problem with the color cartridge.  Color ink cartridges contain three colors.  Magenta (Pink), yellow and Cyan (blue).  Looks like with your printer, yellow and cyan do not print.  This could be due to low ink levels, a nozzle clogged print or some other hardware problem.  If you replace the color ink cartridge and still having the problem, you should have a nozzle print cleaning function provided with the printer software or the driver.  Try to run it a couple of times and see if it solves the problem.  Did you just buy the cartridge that you have replaced or if it sits for awhile?  Please let us know.  Thank you. Hi Pmoore,

Looks like you can not do all the colors of your new ink cartridge.  Since the cartridge uses 3 colors to make the images, correct colors, missing one will distort everything.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless print pink instead of blue

Until recently, I never had a problem with this printer; However (now when I didn't print blue) it comes out pink... I cleaned the head many times and has also replaced the Cyan Ink Cartridge with a new and fresh cartridge, and nothing seems to solve the problem... All suggestions are solicited.

    Hi Chuck,

I understand that you have a problem with your printer Officejet 8500 Wireless color print does not correctly. I'm sorry to hear what is happening, but I will do my best to help you!

I understand that you advised you already tried cleaning, but I will suggest that take you a look at this document to print quality because it has a few others not for you to try as well. If the problem persists after this document, although I suggest you clean the printhead contacts manually because it might be an accumulation causing the colors do not print correctly.

Finally, I also recommend connect the printer directly to a wall outlet to make sure that the printer is getting enough power to function properly.

Hope this helps, have a nice day!

  • LaserJet CP1025: Printing pink spots on the first page of all documents Word and PDF but not Excel etc.

This printer has had very little use again, last September. This problem started about 2 weeks ago. It affects Word, PDF files and print from Chrome.

Excel, Publisher and Notepad all print correctly. It affects only the first page of the documentation. Printing multiple one after another - first page only of each doc is assigned along the right edge together about 1 inch wide.

My office programs are on my school's network. No other users have the same problem and impression on my inkjet at home is fine. My solution is to add a blank page at the beginning of Word documents.

It seems that it is only this printer is affected, but I do not understand why some programs are affectd but not others.

    Ideas would be welcome.

    Hi @Fortwilliam,

I see that you are having problems printing applications, the first page has pink spots on the right side of the page. I want to help you.

It's certainly an issue that you are experiencing. Since it is not done this with all applications. So I don't think it is a hardware problem, but related software.

Make sure that you are logged on as an administrator and try to print again.

Download and run the Print and Scan doctor. It will diagnose the problem and could solve it automatically. http://www.hp.com/go/tools > using HP diagnostic tools for printers under Windows HP.

What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor? (she print or scan, error messages)

If you're still having problems, I uninstall and reinstall the latest version of the printer software, just to rule out a software conflict or the printer driver is damaged. Full Feature software and driver.

If you appreciate my efforts, please click on the button below the thumbs up.

If there is anything else I can help you, let me know. Thank you.

  • DeskJet 940c now prints only black and the roses of the cartridge three colors. How to fix?

Windows XP, no error message. New drivers, then software update from HP, reinstall printer driver. New cartridge is same as cartridge that has begun to do that, so I don't think it's cartridges.  The former was relatively new and unused.

I tried everything for Self-Help to find out the cause and get the solution.  Will appreciate the known solutions.  Thank you.

After continuing checking the new drivers, etc...  I tried something that should be obvious.

The cartridge three original colors in full, 50% was only pink printing.  Changed to NEWLY opened cartridge: who would have thought a cartridge newly opened with 90% of ink indicated, would not print pink, while the first new cartridge print pink single - as well...

Dazzling idea : tried yet opened a 2nd cartridge three colors, and it prints correctly.

A cartridge on the set, never opened, was obviously NOT COMPLETE with all the colors...  It happens, but this is the first time for me since 1996.  Thank you for reading, the original - thought I should know all, "user error".  If this never happens to you, you will have heard about this already!  I hope it doesn't happen, lost two days on this subject...  See you soon!

  • Artifacts and print wrong colors Deskjet D4160

My Deskjet D4160 print colors wrong in Normal mode. It prints correctly in optimized mode. For example, it will print rose instead of orange. I saw him print pink instead of blue. It prints very well when it is in optimized mode, but not in Normal or fast mode. I installed the brand new HP inkjet cartridges in the printer of the brand. Also I sometimes get artifacts on the page when you print in Normal mode. At first I thought it was because I used off the coast of brand cartridges, but the same problem occurred when I installed HP cartridges brand as well. If anyone can help me with this problem I would be very happy.

I'm sorry that you are experiencing this issue. One thing you can do is to clean the head of printing and cartridges on the Solution Center.

You can also uninstall and reinstall the software and drivers.

It seems that the communication between the printer and the computer is not on the same page when it comes to color printing.

I would like to know if these steps help, or what is happening.

  • HP Deskjet 895Cse

All of a sudden the Tricolor cartridge is only printing pink, not blue or yellow.  It seems to be since I installed the driver for another HP printer that I use with my laptop in another location.   (I also use the printer network HP 3520 series in 3rd position)

I thought that the cartridge should be replaced, so bought another a (genuine HP cartridge), but it does the same thing.

The likely cause is a very old #23 cartrdige.  You might check that the cartridge is the problem by removing and gently dabbing the printhead against a wet cloth.  A good cartridge would have a strong strong task of cyan, magenta and yellow.  Probably your cartridge will only show magenta.  Please check the date on the cartrdige (two years from the manufacturing date) as shown in the paper here.

A new cartridge should solve the problem.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909n

I have a HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909n I've had for a while.  Recently it from printing in pink even though my settings was to black ink only.  Then he stopped and started printing in black.  Want to know what caused this.

Also, I wanted to know if in order to print in black so the color cartridges have ink inside.  I read somewhere that the carridges themselves must be in place, but he said not that the color cartridges must have ink inside.  I do not use color and don't want to buy new cartridges of color if I have to.

Would like to help on these 2 points.  They can even be linked to the problem.

    Thank you.

    Hello @JCooper615!

Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!

You mentioned that the printer printed pink when you had selected only black print cartridge.  I'm not exactly sure what caused this, but I can provide a few suggestions that can prevent it from happening again.

Its possible to print to the printer head needs to be cleaned.  To perform a printhead, cleaning the printer just tap the "setup" on the screen of the printer.  Once your menu setup press "Tools", and then press "clean printhead".  The printer will run the print head cleaning and print a report.

Another thing that I suggest is to remove the printheads and clean them manually.  Sometimes the ink can fog up on the copper of the print head contacts.  This can cause a bad electrical contact and may result in poor print quality.  For instructions on how to clean the printhead manually, click on: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01609042

The printer takes 4 cartridges and 2 print heads.  The print heads are making to put ink on the page and they need to be replaced at any time.  If the problem persists, you may need to install a new print head.

You also want to confirm if the printer needs color cartridges to print.  The printer requires all of the ink must be installed to be able to print.  If a color cartridge is empty, then the printer displays a message that it is unloaded.  The message will not disappear until this new cartridge is installed and will prevent you from printing.  When printing in black the printer still uses a small amount of color.  This is to ensure to don't clog the tubes of ink and the print heads do not dry out a lack of use.

Some printers cartridges that have integrated print heads.  Some printers as the ENVY 5530 and Officejet 4630 do not require the color cartridge too be installed to be able to print.  They can print mode single cartridge.  So if you exhaust your colors you can just take it off and continue to print in black and white.

Thanks again for the display on the HP Forums!

    Enjoy your day!

Thank you for responding. Because I forgot to inform you that my printer is model 5520, I found that I could use the control panel of the printer to get the status of the estimated quantities of ink. Your solution, however, I headed in this direction. Thank you very much.
