HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909n

I have a HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909n I've had for a while.  Recently it from printing in pink even though my settings was to black ink only.  Then he stopped and started printing in black.  Want to know what caused this.

Also, I wanted to know if in order to print in black so the color cartridges have ink inside.  I read somewhere that the carridges themselves must be in place, but he said not that the color cartridges must have ink inside.  I do not use color and don't want to buy new cartridges of color if I have to.

Would like to help on these 2 points.  They can even be linked to the problem.

Thank you.

Hello @JCooper615!

Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!

You mentioned that the printer printed pink when you had selected only black print cartridge.  I'm not exactly sure what caused this, but I can provide a few suggestions that can prevent it from happening again.

Its possible to print to the printer head needs to be cleaned.  To perform a printhead, cleaning the printer just tap the "setup" on the screen of the printer.  Once your menu setup press "Tools", and then press "clean printhead".  The printer will run the print head cleaning and print a report.

Another thing that I suggest is to remove the printheads and clean them manually.  Sometimes the ink can fog up on the copper of the print head contacts.  This can cause a bad electrical contact and may result in poor print quality.  For instructions on how to clean the printhead manually, click on: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01609042

The printer takes 4 cartridges and 2 print heads.  The print heads are making to put ink on the page and they need to be replaced at any time.  If the problem persists, you may need to install a new print head.

You also want to confirm if the printer needs color cartridges to print.  The printer requires all of the ink must be installed to be able to print.  If a color cartridge is empty, then the printer displays a message that it is unloaded.  The message will not disappear until this new cartridge is installed and will prevent you from printing.  When printing in black the printer still uses a small amount of color.  This is to ensure to don't clog the tubes of ink and the print heads do not dry out a lack of use.

Some printers cartridges that have integrated print heads.  Some printers as the ENVY 5530 and Officejet 4630 do not require the color cartridge too be installed to be able to print.  They can print mode single cartridge.  So if you exhaust your colors you can just take it off and continue to print in black and white.

Thanks again for the display on the HP Forums!

Enjoy your day!

  • OfficeJet Pro 8500 A909n Firmware update froze

I was trying to update my firmware on my HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909n. During installation, the installation froze. I was connected via my USB to the printer. There was a progress screen on the LCD of the printer that shows the numbers 1-5 with small squares under each of the numbers that were either low-light or highlight according to what stage or the status of the update on that. There was also a progress under the numbers bar. The update in the impasse with the square under the number four was highlighted and bar ceased under the number one growth. After 3.5 to 4 hours waiting for the update to complete, I had to kill the process of updating. Try the update again the model search engine can not find my printer and the printer lcd displays a circle with a helping hand to 12:00 and below is a string "B8084644". I'm stuck. • HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909n - Windows 7 Driver needed!

    Hello

I just bought HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909, and he does it not install on my Windows 7 RC1 installation. An updated driver is needed.

I wonder if there is no known workaround solution? I tried compatibility mode and run as admin, comes to about 90% ish and - error.

How can I be sure that HP will make a Windows 7 driver for this model, if I need to return it as soon as POSSIBLE.

    Thank you

@ellirdad. I'm 100% agree with you want HP to solve the driver problem. It's quite maddening.

If you download and use the basic driverset, it works very well (I use Windows 7 RC1 x 64).  This is after forcing it to run in compatibility mode, of course. You can scan, fax, etc. Works very well.

I tried to install the driverset full and also had the problem where it would freeze at 96% and eventually times out. I was bored and deicided to make an investigation of the sound problem have is a file named flash9f.ocx. Apparently, he's trying to 'register' this file with Windows and she fails. I have not dug too deep, but I tried to download and manually save the flash9f.ocf and there still no, then who knows. I hope that HP will get on the ball and give us some Windows 7 drivers soon.

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 A909N: OfficeJet Pro 8500 power Module

The printer does not turn on, the power adapter light flashes on and outside, light sweep under the glass of the scanner blinks in sync with the light adapter and the power button does not work. When the power cord is disconnected from the printer, but remains connected to the AC, the light on the adapter continues to pulse.  I was wondering if this indicates a failure of the power adapter or a more serious problem with the printer itself.

The link you provided describes the problem experienced, but unfortunately the solution wasn't able to resolve the problem. When the module is plugged in AC, the light flashes on and off for the module seems to be defective, perhaps victim of a power surge or slump.  Thanks for your help.

OK, so change the power adapter.

  • Problem with the HP Officejet Pro 8500 printer: clean the print heads each time it is turned on

    Hello everyone,

the printer HP all-in-one Officejet Pro 8500 (A909a - product n. CB022A) clean the print heads whenever I turn it on. This problem affects any HP Officejet Pro 8500 printer, it is not a problem only of this one I bought. It is a boring bug and annoying because each power clean print heads on involves two bad disadvantages:

    1. waste of ink (each heads cleaning process consumes little ink);
    2. too much time (2-3 minutes) to prepare the printer after plugging.

I upgraded my printer with the latest firmware available on the HP site (firmware ver. DLM1FN1006BR), but the bug is still present.

    At this point, I ask:

    1. There is a way (or procedure) to disable automatic cleaning this useless to all power on?
    2. Can we communicate with the HP engineers or tell me how to contact directly one of them to indicate the bug and request a new firmware updated?

Please don't tell me to leave the printer on all the time or that the printheads to each cleaning power is normal behavior! Where then are power and ink savings claimed for this printer model?

I hope that a solution to this problem. Thanks in advance to everyone will help me!

Maintenance when the printer is turned on is normal and is required to keep the printheads in good health (not blocked). See here for more information.

With respect to energy savings, the printer automatically goes to low power mode when the don't feel not for awhile.  It is not necessary turn the unit on to save energy.

I read people talking about pushing the book button and the button nine as they plug the unit back in... I'm confused because my 8500 has isn't ONE of these buttons, unless there is a hidden pannel I don't know.

My printer refuses to print any of the computers on the network. You turn off, turning on and maybe he'll print for a few minutes, maybe not.

I also left unplugged overnight and it was always the same questions. Today I did a software factory reset, then reconnected to the wireless network.

Any suggestions appreciated because I'm SUPER irritated with this device.
