My W7 desktop has many SHORTCUTS installed on it. These are precious to me and many of my efforts. These desktop icons will default to the W10 Office?

No one will respond to this request.  This is my 3rd time.  Help, please.  THANKS Amadou

An upgrade of the operating system can be unpredictable. You can't be 100% sure what's going to be there when the smoke clears.  In the case of your office, you can save your user profile (which is in C:\users) that contains an office file that contains all of the shortcuts, and which can be restored after the upgrade if necessary.  If you have shortcuts to programs that will be removed during the upgrade because of the incompatibility, and of course these shortcuts no longer work.

XP... The desktop icons will not put. I did a lot of research on this issue, read the different responses on many forums, including and have tried much of the recommendations... I'm not familiar with the functions of establishment of the arrangement of the desktop icon and this is the first time I met this kind of problem. "Lock Web items on desktop" is checked, "Snap to grid" is not checked (my preference, but I find that it will check mysteriously itself after the icons rearrange themselves to the left of the screen, apparently by making use of automatic reorganization, even if it is not checked), I tried securityguy14 registry change response dated December 7, 2009 , have installed and use the program "Icon restore" that changes the Recycle Bin, my computer, and another icon of office, I do not remember to add a backup/restore function for the setting icon on the desktop... is what bought me a brief period of mental health before they rearrange themselves after a few constantly unidentifable strike entered sometimes without "rhyme or reason", not unique to anything, preventing me from shrink down to a specific cause. My main screen to the right of my secondary monitor. How can I stop my desktop icons to switch to the secondary display (left) after the reboot?

    Hello

Windows stacks icons in columns on the left side of the office. But you're not stuck with that arrangement. You can move an icon by dragging it to a new location on the desktop.

To unlock the icons so that you can move them again:

    a. right click on an area empty office.

    b. click viewand then click auto arrange , clear the check box next to it.

  • The desktop icons to go to the left of the screen on reboot.

I had already read the thread "Windows 7 for moving desktop icon", but can't respond to it because it is "locked".  So here I am.

Mine started about 4 days (after some questionable sites surf?).  All my icons have been splashed against the left side and have been small to medium size.  Microsoft Security Essentials antivirus running did not help.

I saw all 8 pages of the thread and made note that Microsoft's Watch, but only to divert tangential Seraph to start new discussions.  Nothing to help us multiplied.

I ended up cut and paste solutions of the thread to Word and seen ~ 12 different "solutions" that has worked for some but not for others.  I ignored any comments about 2 monitors or an external monitor on a laptop.  With all this, my conclusion is that the glitch must be multi-causal.

I would say that if you have a lot if the icons that group them you inside new folders to avoid displacement and the removal of several dozen distinct icons like patches are tempted.  I reduced the number of icon to only 8.

I started trying the simplest fixes first.
1 uncheck Arrange Auto did not help
    2. right click on the desktop to refresh would push any icon I had moved to the right at the original on the left and always position at a specific position.  By pressing the F5 key did the same.
    3. While holding down the SHIFT key while rebooting did not help.
    4. I had Avast antivirus but changed to Ms Security Essentials last year.
5 drag the icons so they align horizontally at the top of the screen did not help.
    6. I went to personalize > ChangeDesktopIcons and not AllowThemesToChangeDesktopIcons.  Did not help.
At this point, I was looking for in Control Panel to see what graphics card, I had (Nvidia?  ATI radeon?)  When I had the revelation.

Enter "System Configuration" and unchecking the various services at startup

The Epiphany in the Panel: my glitch had only 3-4 days and I could do a system restore.  I could go back to June 21, well before the glitch.  This led to reset and my icons were returned to the position and the original size.  The new cases were there although many of the icons that I had placed in them were in their former positions.  For now, I'll keep records and reduced the number of icons.

  • Desktop icon text color on the top

I would like to change my Desktop Icon TEXT black or other color so I can READ the TEXT under the icon. Wallpaper is a picture that I took has a very pale blue sky almost white. Hello, Jeff WTR755,.

Thank you for posting.   What you're trying to do is possible, all in Classic skin Mode.  You can do so by following the steps I have provided below.  Please pay attention to the " " " to change the colors on your computer if you have no Windows Aero"section.

Please let me know if this helps you.

Change the colors on your computer

    1. You can change the color of your window frames, the start menu and the taskbar.

    2. Click to open personalization.

    3. Click on window color and appearance.

    4. Under the window color and appearance, click the color you want, and then click OK.

    Note

    • If you see the dialog box appearance instead of the window color and appearance settings, the theme might not be set to Windows Vista, the color scheme might not be set to Windows Aero, or the computer might not meet the minimum hardware requirements for running Windows Aero. For more information, see solving problems with Windows Aero.

To change the colors on your computer if you don't have Windows Aero

    1. If you have determined that you do not have Windows Aero, you can still change some colors on your computer.

    2. Click to open appearance settings.

    3. Click Advanced.

    4. In the item list, click the part of Windows that you want to change the color.

    5. In the color list, click the color you want.

    6. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for each component of Windows which you want to change the color, and then click OK.

  • Desktop icons Windows Vista setting the terms

    Hello

This is a silly question tiny but it's bugging me. I like to keep the shortcut icons on my desktop to allow a quick selection or programs. Recently, I noticed that after a reboot, the icons available is blurred.
I want to do is organize the icons in one, for me, in a logical way and fix then this arrangement as well as reboot icons are arranged in the same way. I searched everywhere but may not know how to do this. I know that this must be possible because this interference is just a recent phenomenon and I know I must have done something to bring.
I thank anyone in advance, can provide assistance with this.

    Use this tutorial:

    http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/save-and-restore-desktop-icon-layout-in-Windows-Vista/

It is the only method that keeps shortcuts and the desktop icons where you want without have moved them or rearranged themselves to restarting.

  • no desktop icons that responded to the questionnaire

The desktop icons don't react to the touch after using, minimizing or turning my browser and sometimes after closing of Windows Mail. Simply remain shaded.  This has happened since using the HP support by phone the week last for a problem with the sound. that has been resolved.

    I have Windows 7 HP Touchsmart 310 1155fPC

So we know the problem is IE9 then since it happens only after accessing IE9.

Of what appears as is likely an add-on that is activated in IE9 that is causing the problem so we'll see if we can find if you have one, and if none of them are causing your problems.

    1. launch Internet Explorer

    2. click on tools

    3. click on Manage Add-ons

    4. by default, you should be under "Toolbars and Extensions" and show should be 'Add-ons currently loaded', but check.

    5. take note of everything that is listed under "Toolbars" and Extensions, if you make a to-do list

    6. right click on each add-on and disable the addon

    7. Once you have turned off everything click close

    8. close IE

    9. restart your computer

After restarting try to reproduce the problem. Launch Internet Explorer. Once, he launched go to your desktop and try the icons and see if they freeze. If they do, go back to IE and check if additional modules are running.

If the icons are working well, then we can begin to try to isolate the problem down following a specific addon, activate addons one at a time until you can cause the problem to appear. Once the problem arises, we have isolated the addon. Contact the developer of the addon and advise of the question.

Post back results, more particularly if a specific addon is causing your problem know us as well. Others will find it useful and your extensive troubleshooting might save someone troubleshooting steps.

As a side note, I saw on a few forum threads on other forums that the Skype plugin can be the culprit, but only a few people were able to verify that.

I booted up and received a black screen asking me "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot selected ins media device to start and press a key" so I put in disc 1. I had a screen 'windows loading files', then a blue screen with a pattern on it, ray

The Recovery Manager started, I said I wanted to factory reset and click Next, and then he asked if I wated to restore the system to factory settings and I hit Yes and then click Next. Then it tells me to insert the disc 1 (which is already underway) and they tray pops out, so I push the mouse and the back Gets the small CD icon next to him and I hear things from disc tray. The message goes away and then the tray opens again a second later and tells me to put in disk 1... >_

I tried the disk 2 and 3, perhaps thinking that they have the project. I have NO idea why it does not work. I even went into the Setup menu and it is certainly set to boot from the hard drive...

Tips, tricks, advice, advice? The computer was given to me at the time so there is no HP support more and I can not find anything by Google.

    Bumping.

I put in the old HDD to test the DVD/CD player and it works very well for CDs and DVDs. Not sure that it would have a flaw JUST in the ability to run the boot disks as there has never been anything to take for her (although, nothing is impossible).

Anyone know why I get several requests to put in disk 1? Especially when I put in disc 1 for recovery anyway menu (so obviously that it works)?

I was in a Web site on Internet Explorer when I got kicked out of him and a virus warning box appeared.  After that some of my icons on the desktop does not open.  For example, when I click on an icon for remote access, I get a message that says "application not found".  When I try to go in Outlook Express (e-mail) of the icon on my desktop it now forces me to select a program to run in the.  The same thing with Microsoft Word.  Why is this happening?

    Mysoul

Hi there, have you tried? Click with the right button on a blank space on your desktop, highlight the icons on the desktop, check on "locking up icons" and organize the uncheck'auto?

    or

    securityguy14

When you say "LOCK icon on my desktop items" I assume you mean to stop to rearrange a reboot? If that's what you mean, so just copy paste then whats below into Notepad, then click on "file > save under...". "in the part superior, save it to the desktop. When you save the 'Save as type' change to 'Documents text (*.txt)' to 'All Files' and name it anything with a .reg extension. Close everything and then click on the file and select "merge". also, you want to make sure to add the part "Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00".» This registry setting records the position of items on the desktop when you turn off

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
    "NoSaveSettings" = hex (3): 00, 00, 00, 00

Change the settings of the REGISTRY can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the REGISTRY settings configuration can be solved. Changes to these settings are at your own risk...
