  I would like to know how to solve these problems myself.  If that means classes or tests, I'm ready to get there!

  But for now, I just want to know how to clean and fix the errors in the event viewer

  Errors and warnings in the event logs are not usually a sign of a major problem.

  Unfortunately, there are many technical support providers who refer clients to the event log in order to convince them to pay for questionable services.

  Use of cleaners and Tune up utilities is not recommended. They can often cause problems.

  Hello: Just ordered a new PC with Win 7 Ultimate (64) and I need advice on creating a power plan. I learned the hard way with Vista Ultimate (32) that "sleep" and "hibernate" cuts the power of USB, such as UPS devices with battery backup. It was a bad function, since my UPS runs the software that automatically stops the system if necessary. However, when the Vista computer went to 'sleep', the connection to the ASI has been cut, while the UPS is no longer communicates with the central unit. Therefore, if stopped and directed were needed when the system is idle / "asleep", UPS might not make it. The only solution I could find was to create a custom power plan that stops the CPU (and that only updates the display on screensaver for X minutes and then turns off the screen). Obviously a question of wear for the system, being never in mode 'sleep'. Windows 7 behaves similarly, depriving USB power in "sleep" or "hibernate"? Will I need to apply the same workaround?   Right click on the USB device device manager concerned and select properties then power management and clear the option to Turn off energy-saving and activate the option to wake up from its sleep.

  Still no response to painful problem with connection to UPS for sleep loss system.

  New desktop (Dell Studio XPS 8100; Intel Core i-7 860 2.8 GHz processor; Win 7 Ult 64; 8 GB OF RAM; ATI Radeon HD 5770, etc.).
  Brand new APC Back UPS XS1300LCD w/power falling Personal Edition v. 2.2. (Win7 compatible).

  As with my old system to Vista Ult SP2 (32 bit), sleep cut power supply for USB devices, including the UPS.
  Thus, if a failure occurs during sleep, the APC software could not perform his managed system shutdown.
  Which defeats the purpose of having the inverter with its software to stop.

  TS: the manufacturer of my computer (Dell) and APC were useless.

  The only viable solution "circumvention" of Vista has been to implement a diet plan that NEVER put the HDD to sleep.  Not a very good solution, but at least it allowed UPS to stop software do its job failure.

  Apparently, it is the only solution for Win 7, as well.

  If I disable the USB selective suspend in the settings for a plan power which puts the HDD to sleep, will be this or do not solve the problem and allow the computer to maintain the power (and the link with) the UPS during sleep?

  Follow these steps and check if that helps:
  1. go to start and type in Device Manager in the start search box and press on enter.
  2. in Device Manager, right click on the USB device and select Properties
  3. click on power management, then uncheck to Turn off energy-saving and activate the option to wake up from its sleep.

  You can try to disable USB selective suspend and check if it solves the problem. Disabling this option has corrected the problems of connection with the devices USB mode 'sleep' for many users.

  I have Win 7 last month and for about 4 weeks now my MS Optical Desktop 3.1 keyboard and mouse prevent my PC from sleep. I had to disable the option "Allow this device to wake up the PC" in the Device Manager for my PC to sleep once more. I went to the power options and went right through the advanced and changed power options settings, including disabling the wake timers and the problem still persists. I checked all my software and nothing is set to keep awake PC. I bought a new optical receiver 3.1 and installed and still the same problem.  It seems that when I got the notice to win 10 has begun but that could be a coincidence. I've tried everything I can think of and still Microsoft Keyboard and mouse will prevent sleep. The only way for PC sleep is to disable "allow this device to wake the computer". It's very annoying.   I put t think the BIOS update has affected the performance of the system.
  First, you must set the BIOS to default settings after the update.

  PS: old BIOS versions are not available for download, and even if the old version of the BIOS can be downloaded, the procedure of updating win wouldn't work because more recent BIOS version is already available on the EMRPOM module
