name of the executable file "ctrl-alt-del".

On my laptop, the bar at the top of the list of active programs and process window has its top bar missing. This is what happens when you press Ctrl-alt-delete. If I knew the name of this program I could copy one from a computer that works properly. What's his name?

This is the Task Manager. Double-click the outer border and the tabs reappear.

You are able to access the menu start pressing F8 as soon as the initial POST ends and before Windows starts to load? If so, try the last known good configuration. Otherwise, follow the steps here to load the recovery environment: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927525 and then run rstrui.exe to load the system restore. Bruce:

The problem has been fixed (I think) but in a most unusual way. Let me explain.

When I was closing down to give the computer a rest yesterday, there was a pop up saying that vprotector expected to close. He really wanted the process of closing until I clicked on finish the process. Curious to know what vprotector is, I searched on the net and got a lot of shots, saying: it is a virus and should be deleted pronto. So I searched the hard drive for the vprot. * and found in the folder program files for AVG!

I then went to AVG to see if it's really a part of AVG and they said yes. If there is a problem with vprot, the toolbar is at fault and needs to be reinstalled. There was one click here to download and run the part of the program to fix the problem. However, I had WebRoot antivirus running that stopped the download of this program as a virus. Because I trust AVG, I've disabled WebRoot and reinstalled the AVG search bar.

I haven't restarted WebRoot and computer flying along as it should, and OE is the link to IE when I click on a link as it has always done.

Seems to me to be the faulty AVG toolbar and a cross with two virus programs upward was at fault. Thank you for your time. Your reply gave me a chance to think differently this problem could arise.

Computers are really complicated machines and we have to be complicated to deal with their problems.

    Thanks again,

    Fred

  • CTRL-Alt-Del bring up the Task Manager

CTRL-Alt-Del bring up the Task Manager

Some malicious software is aware of the methods you're most likely to use to find and remove it (Task Manager, System Restore, command prompt, Internet, Google, etc.)
The malware does not allows you to use things like the Task Manager to find and remove, so it prevents them from becoming a process running on the system and the process will not start or the process will be completed as soon as it is launched.
The malware is happier when he let you think you need to use system restore, a repair install or reinstall your XP from scratch to fix your system when none of this is necessary.
You can fool the malware (and then fix it).
Assuming that your Windows is installed on your drive C, using Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder c:\windows\system32 and locate taskmgr.exe.
Copy the taskmgr.exe file and rename the copy something malicious software will not recognize.  I like to call the copy:
    c:\windows\system32\jose.exe
Double-click on jose.exe and see if the Windows Task Manager window opens now.
The problem is the malware won't let the taskmgr.exe a running process, but he does not know jose.exe as a process running as well
beat you all (I have a feeling that he will well a day on jose.exe).
Will not 'fix' your task manager, but at least you will know whether or not the Task Manager mechanism works (taskmgr.exe still not start properly).
If you try to remove some malware and the need to use the Task Manager, you can simply launch jose.exe (double-click) instead, but your system will always be afflicted, until you remove the malicious software.
Usually, there are a few other things that also don't work you would probably find out later, so I recommend you do this:
Reduce the risk of malware by running some scans.
Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs can solve any problems:
    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/
    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/
It can be uninstalled later if you wish.
The scans by operating clean, restart, test your task manager and we can repair any other pending issues.
If things look good, you can delete the c:\windows\system32\jose.exe file.

Do, or do not. There is no test.

    STOP: 0 X 05001210 (0 X 00000000, 0 X 00000000, 0X00000000, 0X00000000)

There is no further information on what happened, it just says: a problem has been detected and windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

I don't know any specs on the system (processor, memory, ect) I was given this laptop from edge of my guy on the ground.  I searched and I can't find any info on this Stop error message.  It was not a new hardware or software installed on the laptop recently, other than a possible update of Windows, I'm not sure.

Whenever the system is booted it shutsdown and the BSOD right before seeing the screen Ctrl Alt Del to log on.  I tried the Safe Mode, Mode safe mode with network and command prompt.  Each instance you get to the log in window, but when after entering my info and loggging stop immediately with the same BSOD.  I also tried the last good Config known with no luck.

Also, the hard drive is encrypted so I can just shoot and get a backup of it before you try to reinstall the operating system.  I have not tried to repair windows, yet, I'm waiting to try other solutions if they are there.

If anyone can point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it.  If you need any other information, just ask and I'll give you everything I can.

  • Hi, I want to know how to enable ctrl-Alt-Del by using the screen keyboard on?

I use my on-screen keyboard because my regular keyboard stopped working.

    Hi Cjwolfcpa,

Thanks for the post. I'm sorry to hear that you are unable to use the keyboard and the recognition of the difficulties with the keyboard screen as well.

I imagine the inconvenience that you are experiencing. I will definitely help you with this.

To help you suggest several steps to solve the problem, I would appreciate it if you could answer the following questions:

    1. What is the brand and model of the keyboard?

    2. is it wired or wireless keyboard?

    3. have you checked the matter with different keyboard?

4 have have there been recent changes made on the computer before the show?

Please be informed that Ctrl-Alt-Del is a combination of secure keyboard that can not be passed through the on screen keyboard.

  • Vista stuck at the screen of welcome forever, but fix it ctrl-alt-del

I help a friend with their computer.  They have no user account, just the built into account admin and no password.  Then, when they turn on their computer, it starts, says 'Welcome. '... "for a while, and then lands on the desk.  However, after a recent update of Windows, he never goes past the "Welcome" screen... ».  He turns just forever.

However, if I press on ctrl-alt-del at that time, the "Welcome" screen... "go and Lands on the desktop.

Here's another thing, I tried: I have created a user account called Mary, then restarted.  Upon restart, the choice of the user is Admin and Mary.  If I take Mary, she does 'Welcome. '... "for a bit and then goes on the desktop.  If I get Admin, it gets stuck on 'Welcome. '... "until I press ctrl-alt-delete.

I check his startup folder, settings of msconfig for services and startup items, etc, and nothing is out of the ordinary.  I did a scan of malwarebytes and virus, found nothing.

    Help!

Sorry - I forgot to update this question.  The problem seems to have been something with Google Desktop.  Once I uninstalled, the problem disappeared.

  • Windows will start, the screen starts flashing and then the screen say Logging Off, then restore the screen to the CTRL ALT DEL all other functions will not work.

Start my computer, it will default to the CTRL ALT DEL screen.  After graduating in the login screen I enter the password.  Windows will start and then the screen starts flashing and the screen say Logging Off, then restore the screen to the CTRL ALT DEL I can boot into safe mode.  All other functions will not work.

    Thank you

I guess you wanted to ask how to solve the problem. If then all in Safe Mode you can use system restore to set up Windows to a point when the problem did not exist.

  • Error NTLDR is missing - press ctrl alt del to restart

    Hello

I am extremely embarrassed to admit the following and ridiculously angry at myself for doing something completely stupid as I did, but's done it now... sigh...

I have NTLDR is missing - press ctrl alt del to restart error of nightmare.

This is how it happened. I need (ed) to reformat my hard drive, but first I was going to save everything. I save every so often, that now, I'm not near as often as I should! (last to the top was sigh 21/05/07). Well, not to think, instead of backup, I put the recovery cd in the drive and the screen came up saying: "loading ramdisk" then I got to the next screen basically asking if I wanted to restore out of the box or not. I chose the first step of the wizard who said out of the box. Then I clicked NEXT and realized that I had not backed up my files! So I cancelled out of the restore cd Wizard.

When I rebooted the computer, I got the error above nightmare.

I did research for many, many hours on how to repair or at least be able to start windows. I did the following:

1 creates a disk with ntldr, ntdetect.com, and boot.ini boot disk on it to restore, I all but I don't know if the dates say anything on those downloaded from another laptop

It did not work I still came upward with the same error or some other errors one pointing to hal\something. I don't know if it's my boot.ini that causes the problem or what. Oh, by the way, I went into the BIOS and made sure the computer started up to FDD first when you try the floppy option.

    [boot loader]
    timeout = 30
    default = multi (0) disk (0)

    Hello

It s a delicate and stupid situation.
The simplest solution would be the formatting of HARD drive and new reinstallation of the operating system.

But it seems you want to save all files available on the HARD disk.
If all goes well it s not too late

Hmmm. I think you have only one chance! You must remove the drive HARD internal of the laptop and try to connect it to the computer second external USB controller!
This part is not expensive and can be ordered from each book.
You should be able to get access to the HARD drive removed from the laptop...

After this procedure, the HARD drive must be formatted as NTFS, and any partition must be deleted!
Then you should try to start from the windows installation procedure or the restore CD.

By the way; I study a little bit in the Microsoft database and found these two documents:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/318728
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/314057

Maybe some advice described in these documents may be useful.

    Good luck
