NAT, stop communication OSX VPN configuration problem.

It is my first time posting in this forum. I have trouble getting Mac computers (my test is OSX 10.8.2) to correctly connect the VPN to the company. We have a Cisco ASA5510, who manages the VPN applications.  Here are some details:

-Windows computers, Cisco VPN Client (not Anyconnect) are able to connect to the VPN and access internal/etc file server computers, just as we want to.

-Mac can establish a VPN connection, but cannot communicate with servers or internal machines. I can't connect to or ping the file server by using its IP address. Also, I can't ping my personal work computer.

-BUT, from my work computer I CAN ping the ip address of the Mac he receives after connecting via VPN. Thus, internal Windows PC can ping external VPN would be Mac, but Mac cannot ping inner Windows pc.

ASDM using I was able to run Packet Tracer. I got trace a ping of the machine address Windows 192.168.0.52 23 to address the 192.168.5.33/24 Mac VPN. This succeeded.

The use of Packet Tracer to trace a ping the address VPN for Mac 192.168.5.33/24 to 192.168.0.52 Windows address 23 is not successful. The package goes through the following phases: 'Capture', 'Access-list', 'looking for route', 'Access-List', 'Options IP', 'Inspect', 'Inspect', 'Debug ICMP","Free of NAT", until it reaches"NAT"where I get this message:

I'm not super familiar with ACL or NAT configuration, so I do not know what changes I need to do to make this work correctly. I find as strange as the windows pc using the customer Cisco have no problem to communicate internally after the connection, but do not have a Mac Mac built-in Cisco IPSEC VPN.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is your home wireless network was in the 192.168.1.0/24 subnet? If this is the case, try to change to a different subnet as you suggested earlier and see if it works.

    Yes nat - t is available on 6.3.x and above and no it is not enabled by default on the PIX / ASA. It is IOS.

    Concentrators are very friendly units (IMHO) to VPN with NAT and VPN.

    You build an acl defined traffic over the vpn (110) based on the nat wouldn't

    You create an acl to set what is NAT had (111) and create a NAT statement accordingly

  • VPN configuration blocking Internet connectivity

    I own an iPhone6 (bought in November 14 and another iPad4 (bought in early 2014) - I face a problem even in both devices.)

    Whenever I'm trying to be devices connecting to the Internet (this either through Mobile or wireless data, I have to take concrete steps to start-up the VPN setting without which the device connect to the Internet. However sometimes (although not very often) the VPN configuration gets turned on by itself without manual intervention (on start-up or mobile data or WiFi on the device). So there is always some delay time in the connection to the Internet whenever I want to use the device.

    I would be grateful for suggestions from the community in order to overcome the problem.

    You have installed VPN software or you have configured in your VPN settings? If you have a VPN configuration, then check its configuration. If you do not have a VPN configuration or a VPN software installed, then the VPN switch in settings should not illuminate.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus: PC stopped communicating with wireless Officejet Pro 8600 more

    My HP printer has been connected to my PC via my home wireless network and work without problem, for 18 months.  A few weeks ago the printer stop appearing in the printer dialog box when I went to print a document.  The printer continues to operate wireless for all my mobile devices without problem.

    I went through all the HP process and tools for troubleshooting, downloaded and installed all updates, nothing helps.  I uninstalled my PC off and now it will not reinstall.  The installation process see the printer on the network, but when I try to install it it said "cannot be installed on the network" and it goes no further. I lost hours and hours trying to get to the bottom of it, nothing helps.

    Out of curiosity, what happens if you install the printer using the USB method wireless configuration? Check out this guide, your wireless printerand select Configuration USB wireless.

    Also, if this does not work, able to install the printer are you using a USB connection? In this way, we can see if the problem could be the connection itself or not.

    You see error messages on the control panel of the printer at all?

  • Client VPN connectivity problems

    I use the cisco VPN client to connect to our network, located behind a 515E. The client is authenticated and gets an ip address but cannot ping or connect with one of the hosts. The connection is to a network of customers that is also behind a 515E. I have successfully connected using the same policy to other places and have had no problem. What confuses me, is that we have used to have a Netscreen firewall before and he had a netscreen vpn client which connected since their network with a problem. Is that something they need for their firewall so that we can get through the traffic?

    Try to turn on NAT - T on your pix, by setting up:

  • Subnet VPN IPSec problem

    I am configuring site to site connection using the pre-shared key VPN. The VPN connection is getting up and running, but I'm having problems on information routing between subnets.

    Our subnet is 192.168.1.0 and we cannot use that subnet for VPN. Because of this, we use 10.240.86.33 for are created the IPSec traffic and destination network (PC) is on 164.2.107.56.

    We cannot connect to the 164.2.107.56 computer network, can someone help us acomplishing this \windows\system32\conifg\system?

    It is the router that ends the VPN tunnel? (I don't see the VPN configuration).

    Since you can't use your real address LAN, you need to NAT before you send the traffic through the tunnel.

    First, you apply the NAT rule to translate 192.168.1.0/24 to 10.240.86.33 when you go to 164.2.107.56

  • ASA 5510 IPSEC VPN connection problem

    We have an ASA 5510 (ASA version 8.0) of remote access VPN configured and works most of the time, but there is a problem when you have more than one client that connects to the same office remotely.  When the first VPN client is connected to the remote desktop, everything works fine, but when the second client connects to the VPN, it connects fine but do not get any traffice return to customer.  I can see under monitor-> statistical VPN-> Sessions-> remote access-> Rx Bytes is 0. Both connections are from the same public IP address of the remote desktop.  I changed some settings on NAT - T and a few other things, but without success.

    Could someone help me please how to fix this?

    First of all, I apologize if this is something that I can google. At this stage, I can only assume I have configuration problems, but I was watching this while if long and pair with my inexperience configuration of these settings I have no idea where to start. My first impressions are that LAN devices I'm ping do not send their response back or the ASA does not know how to route packets back?

    My first question is do you have a site to site VPN and VPN remote access client.

    After checking your configuration, I see you don't have any Site to SIte VPN configuration, so I'm assuming you ara facing issue with the VPN client.

    And if I understand you are able to connect VPN client, but you not able to access internal resources properly.

    I recommend tey and make the following changes.

    First remove the following configuration:

    NAT (inside) 0 inside_nat0_outbound_1 list of outdoor access

    NAT (inside) 1 192.168.15.192 255.255.255.192

    You don't need the 1st one and I do not understand the reason for the second

    Second, one is your pool IP subnet (192.168.15.200 - 192.168.15.250) and I don't know why you added this NAT.

    If possible change your subnet pool all together because we do not recommend to use th ip POOL that is similar to your local network.

    Try the changes described above and let me know in case if you have any problem.

    You can try the following and see if they help.

    Method 1: Try to set the printer online.

    a. open the start menu and click on the "devices and printers". This will open a window with a list of the printers currently installed on your computer. Right-click on the printer and select "Use printer online".

    b. clear all print jobs. Double-click on the printer, then go to the Menu "printer" and select "Cancel all Documents." It could be a stuck print job that would cause the printer go offline. Try once more to put the printer online and try to print a test page.

    c. turn the printer off and then on again. Check if the printer is blocked. Check all the network connections to make sure that none are loose.

  • Site to site VPN PIX problem

    Hello, I have a problem when I need to implement a VPN IPSEC with ESP and key pré-partagées between two sites...

    The two sites are using PIX Firewall (Version 6.3 (3) to complete the VPN)

    I'm ok with the VPN configuration and have tested & it works

    the problem is that the PIX at the remote end must be behind a DSL router that is PATting for the PIX

    This is because the ISP can only assign a public IP address and that is to their adsl router and I don't have a public IP address that I can directly attribute to the PIX...

    is there some way I can put the second PIX address of outside interface on a private and still make a VPN connection with it?

    You will not be able to specify PIX2 private address in the config of PIX1, cause your ESP packets never get there through the Internet.

    The only way it would work is to configure the port on the ADSL router mappings, which maps the specific packages through to the PIX interface address. Config of PIX1 would then point to the ADSL router interface address.

    Or you can talk to the ISP and try and get another IP address, and then create a mapping on the ADSL router and everything for this grace IP address to map to the PIX.
