  Make sure that nobody plays a practical joke on you by changing which opens your shortcut. Right click on your shortcut of Firefox and check the "Target" line on the shortcut tab. It should read:

  If you notice that the shortcut will be headed to another (for example ' iexplore.exe'), or delete the shortcut and make another change the target line to what I posted above.
