Navigator custom quiz

I'm building a custom browser quiz in Captivate 5.0 as shown below that will be displayed on question slides

They consist of static widgets taken button display for the rest of the project. There are three buttons for each question placed on top of the other and they will show/hide according to the success or failure of a question. Each has the action «jump to slide...» ", so that the user can access any question in the questionnaire that he wants.

My only problem is that I want that the user has two attempts for each question. If a question is an incorrect answer to the first attempt, and then the user leaves which, upon his return from their previous answer (which is obviously incorrect) is locked and they can not change (as shown below).

This does NOT happen when browsing using the value default 'back' and 'skip' buttons that Captivate quiz normally. What is different about how work these default navigation buttons and my buttons "jump to slide...". » ? Is it possible to stop what is happening?

Thank you

Rick

I just tried this in a Captivate project 5.5 with 5 slides of true/false and widgets of static button for the next and previous buttons.

With each question set to 2 attempts and 2 levels of failure, even if I got a question wrong and the static button widgets to navigate away from the slide, then again I could always answer the question for the second time without problem.  It does not lock the first answer.

Maybe what you're having is a bug in Captivate 5 or the static button widget that came with Captivate 5.

Try to download and install the trial version of Captivate 5.5 to see if the issue still exists. But a word of warning... If you use Cp 5.5, only use it on a copy of your project file as it will definitely change the file format and make it impossible to change back into Cp 5.0

  • Reports custom Quiz, answers correct by Pool

    Hi all

Question about custom quiz reports when using the pools. I don't know how to ask the question without example, so here:

Let's say you have a quiz with 3 pools, A, B and C, and each pool has 20 questions each.  The quiz itself uses only 20 total questions. (It's only a 3rd questions! «(But this allows users to take the test several times and get a different questionnaire each time).»

So, is it possible that I can activate the reports to inform the user of the questions how they are wrong on the A, B and C at the end of the quiz questions?

    Something like:

    Final score: 75%

    Pool A correct Questions: 5/7 (71%)

    Pool B correct Questions: 7/7 (100%)

    Pool C correct Questions: 4/6 (67%)

    Thank you!

Do not use the event drag enter.  Which will tell you if the user gets this question just or not.

You must use the event on success for each slide of the question randomly to execute advanced Action, which increments the variable for the pool that pulls the slide.

The alternative event for these same slides is the event on the last attempt.  This is the event you have to use to run and the fast Action if you want to have a different variable that followed how many wrong answers by question pool.

  • Definition of wrong answers on a custom quiz

    Hello.

I'll put together a custom quiz (not not using question slides) and I was wondering how you set the correct/wrong answers. What I've done so far is included all the answers in the quiz (via the statement section), but only set the right answer 'Add altogether '. It seems to work, I get the correct score at the end of the quiz, but looking at my LMS reports that it is counting all responses to 'Correct', even when answers incorrectly.

No idea if this have to do with the settings of Captivate or LMS?

The LMS I use is a custom built for the company that I work for the use of a Joomla template.

    Thank you.

In such a case, the first thing we usually is that you publish your module problem SCORM cloud and there's a test to see if it is correctly.

As you said that your LMS is a custom job created for your business, it is possible that he is not really compatible SCORM.  If your module always behaves in the clouds of SCORM, I would be blaming the problem on your LMS.  If it behaves also hurt in SCORM cloud then you can have a small problem or a certain type of corruption in your module.  In this case, try to create a small sample of project CPTX with one question true/false quiz and see if that will mark correctly.  If so, your project may be damaged.

  • Custom Quiz results page mapped for quiz interaction question IDs

We use 9 Captivate and we want to create a quiz results page customized with five categories (each question in the quiz is tagged with 1-5 interaction IDs) each question in the module will have the points assigned to one of five categories. Each question will be worth 10 points. Each question uses an integrated in multiple choice or reactive quiz question slide. We want the results to calculate and display screen the score of the learner in each category. Thus, for example, if there are three questions in class 1 and I get two right, we want that results screen to view it: category 01:20 / 30.

In short, we want to create five numeric variables. Each question will be assigned to a variable. Each correct answer should add 10 to the numeric variable. The results screen should display a count of five numeric variables.

How can we do this? Please help :)

In this case, you have the second approach. Create 5 user variables v_cat1, v_cat2... v_cat5 with a default value of 0. Create a shared action that you can attach to the success events and failure of the glide of the question. It will be something like this (didn't try, little busy at the moment):

    • Expression v_cat1 = v_cat1 + cpQuizInfoLastSlidePointScored
    • Go to the next slide

Only the v_cat1 variable must be a parameter. When you apply this action to both events of a question, you only have to indicate the correct variable.

On your score slide, insert this user variable in a text container.

You want to have the maximum calculated also? Then you will need 5 user additional variables v_max1, v_max2... v_max5. Add an order more to your shared action:

    • Expression v_max1 = v_max1 + cpQuizInfoPointsPerQuestionSlide

This means that now two parameters (variables two user).

    Good luck!

  • Advanced shares custom quiz does not

I am creating a quiz that is customized by using the advanced actions and checkbox widget improved Jim.

    Features of the quiz:

    • Three buttons: Try Again, then submit. The Try Again and next buttons are hidden initially.
    • Final score: name of the variable "TotalScore.
    • Attempt to count of each question: variable 'Q1Att' is initially set to 1
    • v_null the value 0

Three good answers about 5 options:

    • Years1 - name of the variable "varAns1".
    • Years2 - name of the variable "varAns2".
    • Years3 - name of the variable "varAns3".
    • Years4 - name of the variable "varAns4".
    • Years(5) - name of the variable "varAns5".

Shares advanced on the "submit" button:

    1 the decision: Correct

    If

    Q1Att is 1 AND

    varAns1 equals years1 AND

    varAns2 equals years2 AND

    varAns3 equals years3 AND

varAns4 is equal to v_null AND

varAns5 is equal to v_null AND

    then

    TotalScore of increment of 10

    Show Next button

    It works very well.

    Decision 2: Try again

    If

    Q1Att is 2 AND

varAns1 is not equal to years1 or

varAns2 is not equal to years2 or

varAns3 is not equal to years3 or

varAns4 is not equal to v_null OR

varAns5 is not equal to v_null OR

    then

    Show the Try Again button

It does not work. The Try Again button does not appear.

    Please notify.

After these two decisions, I have two or three other decisions, checking for the attempt on 2nd response and failure, in that order.

    Anthony

Fixed, got it works, with 3 decisions. My values are different (Dutch), will post screenshots, easier.

Fundamental difference: I started the variable attempts with 2 as a default value, it was labeled v_number (got that one already in a scratch project) and is decremented by the Try Again button. Have 3 Decisions:

    • For every correct answer, which means that the variables of the checkbox must be checked:

Had to hide the button once again, since he could be included in the second attempt. You see in the phrase why I value '2' for the first attempt, and '1' for the second attempt.
    • Second decision "SecondTry" displays the Try Again button if the condition is met.
    • Third decision is if the answer is still wrong after the second attempt

I could have grouped button Again and submit to have two less statements.

Try, my tests were positive. Bit thinking out of the box, sigh, love this kind of cleaning.

And the measurement Standard for the Try Again button:

  • Personalized and customized quiz feedback slide menu slide

    Hi all

I was wondering if anyone can help point me in the right direction as to how I can use Advanced Actions/Variables to produce two things, a slide in menu that displays a check when an article is complete and feedback simple quiz slide that displays a summary of the issues with correct/incorrect.

    Slide Menu

I am trying to build a menu so that the learner can go into any unit in any order. When they finish the slides in this unit, they are returned to the Menu slide and a checkmark against that unit. There is an example below to give you the idea.

    menu.png

    Quiz feedback Slide

I also try to create quiz feedback slide to allow learners to know what questions they got wrong in a quiz. I don't want to use the revision Quiz feature like that shows me the wrong answers and questions. I would like to just a summary slide, as in the example below.

    quiz.png

For the course menu, I use some useful posts of Lilybiri and try to adjust his tutorial on dishes customized to the http://kb2.adobe.com/community/publishing/855/cpsid_85530.html to show ticks instead of hide links of the unit. I don't know where to start with the feedback of quiz slide.

I hope that someone with a little more experience stocks advanced/variables will be able to intervene here and let me know if I'm going in the right direction with this.

    Many thanks in advance,

    Loraine

    Hello

I thought that my blog post on the menu template was doing all what you want with the menu.

Need more time to explain about your second question later.

Previous! For the slide of Feedback, you need to maintain for each answer, if he had answered correctly or incorrectly, each in a user variable. To this effect, you could use cpQuizInfoLastSlidePointScored.Create action upon entering the next the question slide and stores its value in a user variable (because the system variable will change after each question), it will contain the value 0 (incorrect), or something different (correct). ATTENTION: you need to repeat this action also after the last question, perhaps by inserting a short blade just before the slide where you want to display the result. Entering into this 'result' slide, which must contain the correct and incorrect checkmars, in hidden state, you can trigger another advanced conditional action that checks each of these user variables and makes the symbol not visible. You get the idea? Need more help?

  • Custom Quiz with master Widget are not related to the LMS (Captivate 5.5)

    Hello

I wrote a quiz with partial credit and, in order to make answers, I use the master Widget. (A big thanks to Lilybiri and Infosemantics for all the advice I found in blogs and learning classes!)

In summary, the quiz is composed of 2 questions with 4 possible answers.  Each of the 4 answers have a different score attached to it (i.e. to answer a = 4 points; Answer b = 3 points answer c = 2 points; Answer d = 1 point).   On each slide of the question, I have added a Master Widget (using the variable representative points the student received as a slave).  I want the quiz to report the score for each question.   After the student has answered these two question slides, they continue to a slide 'results '.  Here, they consider the total of their scores and get your comments on if their total is high, too low or online.  On the results page, I used the master Widget itself to make the quiz on the total score.

I downloaded this quiz as a package SCORM 2.3 Moodle and Blackboard 9 (we are different systems LMS to test).  The short quiz in each LMS, but when I try to access a report, I get no results: no report received for each item quiz and no total score points.  Indeed, in the table, I get a blank page:

    Blackboard sceen.jpg

    In Moodle, I get:

    Presentation1.jpg

Here's what to look like my quiz preferences:

    Quiz preferences.jpg

I'm really stuck.  I realized there are many components to this process and I really need help to find out where the problem lies.

Thank you for your time and help!

    Bray,

Yes the numbers on the slide of questionnaire results are important because they indicate that some of your widgets or other interactive objects are not reported to the "official" quiz score

You must go back and check the objects you want to appear in the score.  The score of 67% reported by the quiz on the quiz results slide probably means that Captivate think you have only three objects within the quiz and only two of these (two-thirds or 67% in round numbers).

You mentioned before that you have three Master widgets in this project.  How many of them can be found in the report for the quiz?  To check if they are all considered to be successes, turn on Success and Failure subtitles for these widgets, and then run through your interaction.

When you use a Slave to Variables with the master of widgets for partial credit, remember that even if the captain widgets can account for these variables as being interactive objects, Captivate does not work.

Although the captain widget is VERY powerful, it also tends to mess with minds, because there are SO many ways you can configure. If you use partial credit, check if you have the option to bypass the assigned score own widgets with the total score of points from the slave value objects.  If you use this option, you must ensure that at no time can the substituted score not fall within the range 0-100% compatible SCORM LMS will accept.

  • Captivate 8 Quiz prematurely cause ranks Quiz

I have a 48-module created in 8 Captivate and hosted on LMS training program to absorb.

If I check display the Score at the end of the Quiz Quiz results slide is can be browsed to advancing beyond the last content slide.

Once this is done the quiz is classified as having failed and all unanswered quiz questions are classified as not having been completed.

If I hide this slide the participant has no score at the end of the presentation.

How can I do the following:

    1. Enable a learner to skip a question later.
    2. Only allow to the learner AN opportunity to respond to each question
    3. Show only the Quiz result ONLY slide after the learner has attempted all questions
    4. Avoid the current behavior to have prematurely class Quiz if the learner uses the table of contents to accidentally access the last question of the quiz and then go to the Quiz results slide.
    5. Allow to the learner for the quiz to review more normally occurs once they tried ALL the question once.

I searched on this forum for such a question... my apologies if I missed a previous explanation and the satisfaction of pointing me the finger this response.

Please let my know if I can provide any information additional clarifying.

    Thanks in advance... KJR

The only way to allow users to skip questions and come back later for them is to use the submit all have, sorry all your audio comment does not. It is in the name already since all responses are posted only when the user decides that he is ready to submit. In addition, OCD or playback bar navigation is not possible.

My approach to a quiz is different: I do not allow to skip questions. This means prevent navigation during quiz (possible in Quiz preferences). In Captivate 8, where the "Skip" button doubles as a button following during the review, which makes it indispensable, I drag the next under the Clear button button. This work around is more necessary in Captivate 9.  Allow an attempt on the level of question + preventing navigation, means that the user cannot proceed to the next question before submitting the question. You know how to allow for the review.

That the workflow will provide you with all you want, except free navigation. The only other way is to use custom, questions that give you total control--but it's a lot of work.

  • Navigation Menu Maker online

    Good day to you all:

I need some help my head around something packaging.  I recently started trying to create menus of navigation custom (with buttons and submenus too) but I'm stuck.

After I'm done with a wizard to generate the above, I get a folder with the following contents:

"Buttons" folder with the button images

    .js file

    .css file

The instructions are to place these files and folders in the base directory of the area where my XE instance.  1 of my questions is:

What is the directory of oracle home, like c:\oraclexe or something like that?  Or am I supposed to use existing folders within the Oracle where these types of folders and files reside?

In addition, get directions like this:

Insert the HTML tag for javascript and sub menus.

This is the HTML code that calls the javascript and CSS (menuscript.js and menustyle.css ) stylesheet files. You need to insert in the CHIEF a part of your HTML document.

    < script src = "menuscript.js" language = "javascript" type = "text/javascript" > < / script > "

    < link rel = "stylesheet" type = "text/css" href = "menustyle.css" media = "screen, print" / > "

Is this place where I change the attributes of the page and place it in "header HTML"?

Insert the HTML tag to display the menu.

This is the HTML code for the menu.
You need to insert in the BODY a part of your HTML document.

    < table border = "0" cellpadding = "0" cellspacing = "0" > < tr > < td >

    < a href = "link 1" onmouseover = "setOverImg ('1'"); " overSub = true; showSubMenu ('submenu1', 'button1'); "onmouseout =" setOutImg ('1' ");" overSub = false; setTimeout ('hideSubMenu(\'submenu1\')', delay); "target =" f? < table > < /tr > < / table >

Is this place where I change the attributes of the page and place it in "On Load Body Attribute HTML Page" or create the region HTML source and cut and paste the code above?

I apologize for these basic questions, but this is my first attempt to place the other and custom designed navigation menus.  Thanks for your help

    Hello

APEX do not substitute the values of the files.

This means that you can not use substitution & APP_ID. strings and & APP_SESSION. inside JavaScript files.

I did copy your application to the new id (35652) and make changes both on page 1.

    You can see this example.

    Kind regards

  • Custom submit button

Is it possible to create a submit button custom quiz in a multiple choice slide that has present features?  For example, a button created using forms and added to a quiz slide?  I use 9 Captivate.

    Thank you

    The f

As far as I know the buttons (the embedded objects with built in functionality) are the only buttons/legends that cannot be replaced by form buttons (yet - fingers crossed, it will come soon).

You can use a workaround, because the "submit" button is the most important component of every slide in the questionnaire. Hold the key, but make it invisible by removing the label, change the fill and border (is possible). And use a form (not a button) on this Submit button transparent. You cannot cover a question of form Slide button, because embedded objects are always on top, the reason why you should make the button transparent. It will look like a custom shape button but is really a Duet of the button Submit original with a shape that mimicks a button custom.

  • Choice questions multiple question IS NOT part of the quiz?

    Hello, all.

    Another newbie question.

I have a few multiple choice questions and some short answers that I want to work as an interaction, rather than be part of the project questionnaire. (I have a quiz 10 questions T/F, which is classified and a score of 80% is required.)

So in other words, on the multiple choice answers and short, I don't have to reported responses - and more importantly, if a person fails the T/F test and resume, I don't want that they have ALSO take multiple choice and short answers.

Is it possible to do this?

I guess the short answer questions can only be implemented with text entry areas, Yes?

But what about multiple choice questions? Any way to get them, but exclude to the quiz itself?

Hope this is clear. Thanks for any help you can give!

    Keith

I never use the default short answer question, not even when I want to be marked. Take a look at: Custom short answer Question - Captivate blog

Use the radio buttons or checkboxes interactions, you can create a custom QUIZ question.

You can also use the default QUIZ question, but indicate that the score should not be added to the total score. ATTENTION: some system quiz variables as the number of questions (used in the progress indicator) will always be count these questions. And will go to the first question, only added to the score or not. There is a solution for that as well.

  • Set quiz completion/score without actually taking the quiz?

I saw here a discussion of custom quiz capabilities, which I do a quiz that has all the features I want for a particular project, that is fine.

However, I did find a way to assign the completion status and/or the partition must be reported to the LMS, once the learner has managed the quiz to measure. Is this possible?

    Much appreciated!

    Hello

You do not need a variable, each button can have a score, like any interactive object. Go to the properties panel, accordion of Reporting, and there you can optionally change the score (default = 1 point) and don't forget to check the option "include in the questionnaire. In the view of Interaction advanced (F9 or project Menu), you can see the total score and the score of slides in question and interactive objects.

  • Role-playing filtered?

I'm working on a project where there are different groups and plan to use advanced actions to show / hide some screens according to the role of the learner has selected.

This means that I want to create three separate questionnaires containing questions - which the learner will not see one according to the role they have chosen.

Is it possible to do this in a single SCO or will I need to create separate quizzes SCO to accomplish?

    Thank you very much

First comment: it is never possible to hide/show the slides with advanced/shared actions at all. You will need to create a navigation custom, which allows to ignore the slides (which is not the same thing as hide/show) If you want to keep all quizzes in a SCO. Branch of knowledge will make the quiz system variables, which are reported to the LMS, dynamic variables. In this blog I explain more in detail how to use branch knows about different quizzes in a single file:

Direction of the Quiz in the news - Captivate blog

You will learn aware branch will turn off all normal navigation, by the PlayBar, OCD. Slideshows of system and will quizzing variables score values, indeed, show the result for those quiz slides visited by the user. If you want the results returned to the LMS only after all issues, you will need to use the model appropriate SCORM "SendTrackingDataAtEnd." Is not really necessary, that that depends more on the available bandwidth. I don't see why an exit button should be necessary to return the score to the LMS? You can, but need not use a question pool, I couldn't ask you questions on the questions randomly, only about the different roles.

Beware of the size of file of course with three different questionnaires, where only a be used by each student.

    I have:

    • Went to the start menu and looked at the Word location is stored on my PC "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start start\program' but when you paste this in the location to browse the selection of default for my document programs shows wordicon and then does not allow me to open my document

  • You can prevent a user copy and paste in a text box Widget?

    Hello

I use the Widget text box in a custom quiz that I created.  Is there anyway to prevent a user to paste into the text box?  Basically, I need to make sure that students to type in the answer, not just copy a document and paste in the text box Widget.

Initially I was using BER (which naturally seems to avoid this) but moved to Widget text box, so I could to format the text.

As always, I appreciate the help!

    Leigh

They can also paste a TEB, sorry. You can provide such a limitation. The interaction of the scrolling text can be used to display the text (check the 'read only' option) or to allow the user to enter text.
