NB100 and overheating

Hello

Some info of compatriots NB100 users would be useful. I recently bought this netbook, and it seems to be not very hot on the underside.
I have an Acer Aspire A150, which gets only a little hot and a Samsung NC10 which does not get hot at all.

Is it normal that the hot NB100, or something is wrong?

Thank you

Hello

I put t know other books mentioned above, but generally you should not compare it if other laptops are not equipped with the same hardware components and settings.

The point is that different CPU and GPU produce different heat dissipation and thus temperature would be different.

The NB100 is really small and these books do not have huge cooling modules. So you always notice a temperature higher by using these portable tiny minis.

Last but not least, you must know that your laptop stops automatically if the temperature is too high.
If the laptop is running without problems, then you should t be worried

    Hi all.

I have two NB100s and I wanted to upgrade to Windows 7. Everything went well until what the graphics driver has been loaded. Responses of the screen were as refresh once per second 5, then also the system froze for a few seconds - impossible to work on it. The case even on the two NB100s and even with the new drivers from Windows update. I'm curious to know what is the problem, because a lot of guys have written that they are running windows 7 and everyting is ok right after installation. I tried Windows Vista and the same situation has occurred. The only way I can use it with Windows 7 is to use the XP drivers. But then the aero glass does not. I just got idea if there is no problem with the new bios 1.6. It seems that other older guys NB100 and use Windows 7. Could someone help me? Has anyone tried Windows 7 with bios 1.6? THX.

    Hello!

I think the problem is that you are using a beta version of the operating system and not a final version and these errors are normal because nobody can say that Windows 7 beta runs perfectly and without problems on all laptops or computers.

However, see the Intel Web site for the latest drivers. Perhaps there is a newer version than on the Windows Update Web site.

  • NB100 and UNR 9.10

I wonder if anyone else has made the upgrade to UNR 9.10 on their NB100.

I had my netbook on 8.04, 9.04 and 9.10, but for some reason, freezes randomly 9,10.

I could not see any pattern as to what could be the cause, as it happened while using open office offline and use Firefox online or sometimes simply being left idle.

I disabled the cycle down screen standby to ensure that they were not the cause and hard drives.

Any ideas anyone? COS it's really annoying because otherwise, it of a good o/s (and boots pretty fast)

    Hello
try to disable all energy saving options...
or install 8.x, get all the relevant settings and install the 9.10 and configure settings 8.x...

I guess that there is a new or modified module in the new version which is the cause of the problem...

    Hello

I put t believe these tools 3rd party, but if your laptop is overheating and stops, you should clean using compressed air stream. This could blow out the dust from the cooling fans.

Also, make sure that you use the latest version of the BIOS. You can download it on the Toshiba site.

    Good luck! :)

    Hello

I have a problem with my laptop Satellite L650-1EQ.
A few days ago my laptop was overheated quite often.
I would like to start playing a video game and the computer could actually turn off after 10 minutes of playing it.

I realized that this was getting serious so I stopped using my computer to play games and I decided that I need to clean it. However, I was looking for online on how to clean up my computer and then my screen turns white!

I didn't know what happened and was very scared.

The next day I turned on the computer to see if it was good, and the screen was black however the laptop power light comes on and I hear the vents work.

I turned on the computer and tried to start it again, and the computer started fine.
The image appeared and the problems disappeared.
But I knew that something bad was about to come so I took the laptop computer repair technician.

    I told her what happened.
He has used the vacuum to "clean" the dust of the computer and told me to go back if the computer kept a overheating.

I restarted the computer again when I came home, and after an hour and a half the computer screen turns white but I don't think that it overheated. : s

    Hello

This does not sound very good boyfriend. I'm afraid that there could be some sort of dysfunction material Mr. something like the problems of graphics card or motherboard issue.

You can try plugging the external monitor to the laptop just to see if something would be visible on 2nd screen.
But if nothing will appear on the 2nd monitor, I think that the chip of the graphics card died :(

Of course, this is just my personal opinion and a laptop computer technician must check the laptop to know what part of the laptop could be faulty.

  • Screen jumping and overheating issues on my Satellite Pro M30

    Hey everybody!

I have a Satellite Pro M30, the screen seems to wobble a bit, probably due to a loose hinge. Can you please help me with this problem?
In addition, my laptop seems to overheat, how do I clean the dust to stop overheating?

    Thank you

    Hi mate!
For the screen issue. As it is a hardware thing, I suggest that contact you a local ASP. Of course, you can try by yourself to this problem, but I can say from my own, fitting the screen isn't the easy thing to do on your own, if you have no experience in that.

To clean your laptop from dust, you can use compressed air jet. Also make sure the cooling modules are not blocked by objects on your table, because if you've blocked, warm air ponds and cannot be updated.

  • Satellite A30 - RAM and overheating

I have a Toshiba laptop but I'm not sure the exact model

It says on the bottom SA30 - 203 years PSA30E - 00EU5-EN, he bought there is a little less than 2 years

The reason for asking is that I want to improve the memory, because it is only 256 mb atm application to 224 MB!

I have also some problems with it in this is very slow, it takes 5 minutes to start and I think it is overheating, as it regularly shuts down unless you hang the side fan a few inches on the desktop... Anyone have any ideas?

    [Edited by: admin August 24 05 18:50]

    Hello

You will find a lot of discussions in this forum dealing with overheating and recommendations to correct the problem.

The basic procedure is to remove the grilles of suction air of dust and debris. This can be done using a vacuum cleaner hose to vacuum debris, or by removing the CPU itself radiator and manually remove any build-up.

Regarding the issue of the RAM, the SA30 use RAM shared for his graphics card, and this allocation will be deducted from the total RAM available in the BIOS. For a 256 MB RAM module, the proportion for the graphics card will be 32 MB that will leave 224 MB of memory for general use. It is this figure that signals the system.

  • Satellite Pro U400 starts and overheating problems

    Hello

6 weeks ago, I bought a Satellite Pro U400. Shortly after that I bought, I noticed that the computer overheating. After 1 hour of use, it becomes very hot in the touchpad area, as well in the base of the computer and on the touchpad itself. It is very annoying because I almost burn my fingers with the touch pad.

The problems began 10 days ago. I had been using the laptop for an hour when it suddenly turned off without notice. Power outage? I don't know Don t. I looked like a sytem of overheating protection. My previous laptop had the same problem. After a few minutes, I was able to turn it back on.

Then it happened again a few days ago, but it took me 5 minutes to turn on. Yesterday, it happened again, and after 45 minutes without response, I went to bed. In the morning, I was able to turn it on.

This also happens when wifi is disabled, it is not only a problem with the wifi card, overheating of the system.

Am I the only one having this problem? I will try to send it back to Toshiba for a replacement or a refund.

Is this normal in a really new machine?

    Thank you

First, the warming of the touchpad is normal for almost every laptop, due to construction. Under this, there are the HARD drive and it produces heat. With my last books, and it was not bad, too.
But really to get so hot?

Due to the protection against overheating, it is normal that you cannot turn on your laptop immediately.
But the wireless card is not the device in question, because it's a very small piece of hardware and produce little heat.

You said, you had this problem with your notebook previous too. Let me ask you, when you use your notebooks? What your table surface there or is there no matter what on that table cloth?

What I can tell you right now is, to check your locations of fantilation for all dust or maybe you have objects near it so that hot air can not cool.

  • Toshiba laptops and overheating with Linux

If you have a Toshiba laptop that seems to be overheating in Linux (like Ubuntu Linux), it is likely that this is due to bad "DSDT tables" (which refers to such things as energy saving) in the laptop.

Each computer has a description of material data that are used by the operating system. In many cases, the DSDT tables have errors that does not allow for Linux make use of powersaving. In addition, some devices may not work because of the bad DSDT. You can check if your DSDT is OK or now by following the instructions at
    http://UbuntuForums.org/showthread.php?t=1036051

You can perform this task even in Windows (extracted from the DSDT from your computer, recompile it and seewhether there are a of errors.) With help, you can easily fix most of the errors and 'install' back the fixed DSDT).

You can google for "toshiba dsdt" and 'toshiba dsdt overheating' case, for example.
    To learn more about DSDT,

    Hi tarafog

Thanks for this useful article. I m watching carefully what you write here, and I'm happy here is someone with a very good knowledge of Linux.
With your help, I think a lot of people's decision made test Linux on Toshiba laptops and try to deal with the new operating system.

Thank you for your participation on the Linux section.

  • Satellite A300D and overheating

Someone with a problem of overheating of the Satellite A300D, if so, how to overcome this?

    Hello!

A friend of mine has a Satellite A300D. A very good laptop and he is very satisfied. He never told me about problems and it works perfectly.

Why not overheating A300D? Do you have this problem?
    If so, how does?
Maybe you should clean the laptop with a jet of compressed air to blow the dust from the cooling fans.

  • Satellite A500-1GL - graphic card problem and overheating

    TOSHIBA SATELLITE A500-1GL - I almost year.
Already, the first problem appeared immediately after the purchase.
After a telephone conversation with the service and install some problem driver disappeared but unfortunately it was another, computer laptop start overheating especially on games but evan on movies more make strange noise.
I ve already used about 7 different cooling pads but none of them helped, I change the fan settings, cleaning by compressed air did not help at all.

Is there a way I can fix this?

Should I send it to Toshiba as it is still under warranty?

Can you please tell us what is the first problem?
To be honest, you should let Toshiba service to check this and give you 100% of mobile working.

What you want to do? If the same symptoms are there even if laptop with factory settings, I think it is certainly the issue of guarantee.

  • Satellite A300 - temperatures and overheating

    Hey there

I own Toshiba Satellite A300 for a year. Lately, I've noticed overheating.

Idling, the temperature the lowest I measured using HW Monitor was 60 ° C for the processor, 50 ° C for the GPU, 42 ° C to the HARD drive. When I have several applications open, it amounts to 83 ° C for the processor and 62 ° C for GPU, during execution of system witch is quite slow. Lower part of the housing is very hot same keyboard is hot and she is uncomfortable.

Any idea where might be a problem? Should I put it in service? Thanks for the replies.

    Andrew

    Hello

You don't have to send it to an authorized service provider, you need to clean your laptop anytime!

I have recommended the jet of compressed air. Blow gently and shortly the depression of the air holes of the case of the machine where the hollow air flows. This could eliminate the dust from the cooling fans.
This procedure should be done every 3-4 months to ensure reliable operation and avoid the mistakes of the system.

I've always used compressed air jet and I never had problems yet.

    Good bye

  • Satellite A210-19Y and overheating

    Hello!

I had a problem with my Satellite A210 overheating for about 4 hours after I bought it. Of course, I went straight up to the place where I bought it, but they just said it was a problem laptop normal when having an AMD processor and advised that I bought an external cooler. However, the thing is that my previous 3 laptops had all AMD processors, and each of them are always works very well, even if they are aged 3 to 7 years and none of them are overheating, even if I let them run very long (like 24 hours +).

So my question is, is it really true, I want to buy an external cooler to be able to actually use my laptop? Should not be able to run without needing "help"? Furthermore, I use only my numere on flat tables respectively to school and my home office.

Sorry if my English is hard to understand, it isn't my mother tongue ;)

P.S. I installed PC-Wizard to check the temperature, and 3 minutes after the start, he spends 60 ^ o ^ C and stays on that, even if the cooler is running like crazy.

You should not need an external cooler, laptop is designed to work properly with its factory specifications.

    You should try this:

    (1) an update of the BIOS. Go to the Toshiba website and download the latest version of the BIOS.
    (2) check the dust in the radiator. You can blow off the dust with a can of compressed air

  • Satellite M30x - kicks from cooling fan and overheating

    Hello..

I just thought I'd post what I was looking for an answer why my cooling fan suddenly engage kicking in every 30secs or if. My machine is new, so I knew it wasn't dust on the fan, but it was really boring after being so quiet when first bought. Anyway I had updated the memory of 2 x 256 MB 1 x 256 and 1 x 512 MB (Crucial) as a Christmas gift to myself.
I just thought that I would be back to original memory because the plastic cover was really hot and I was wondering if that was originally.
The problem has been resolved. Fan comes barely at all! If additional memory is to overheat the machine.
Hope that it will use on the Forum

    Hello Fred

It is always interesting to read about new experiences. But in your case you should not think that there is a problem with the memory upgrade. I'm sure that you have used two different modules. In other words, a new module was probably more quickly while the original and there reason for overheating.

In my opinion, you should use the module recommended by Toshiba and try it again. Compatible 512 MB module has PA3312U - 1 M 51 part number.

    Good bye
