Hello

This is nothing unusual and normal.
The HARD drive continues to blink because the HARD drive is active.
HARD drive is active when the Windows system, access to information stored on the HARD drive.

You shouldn't be worried about it. Everything looks ok here

    Summary

Edited: This problem was finally resolved by Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver 8.6.3 sent by Lenovo, January 13, 2009

It is an intermittent problem on 500/T400 with XP or Vista 32.

Vista 32: the HARD drive light stays on for several minutes, sometimes never goes. The machine crashes immediately, or it may continue to work for a while sometimes sluggish performance w. In all cases the operating system stops not completely so that the HARD drive light is forcing a hard stop with the keyboard, button on / off.

    XP: random BSOD of iastor.sys.

In the log window of the events is an event of error each time passed than the HDD light grip. Source is iastor, Id is 9, and the text is "the device, \Device\Ide\iaStor0, did not in the expiration time. See below for a description of how show all events iastor error 9 in your event log.

The problem has appeared since the second or third week of December. The likely source is an update of the Intel Matrix Storage Manager, driver version 8.6.0 delivered on 4 December.

This driver has been after December 4, distributed via Thinkvantage System Update. T400/500 made in December were also shipped with this driver installed. Since then, lenovo has withdrawn the driver, drivers, T400 and page software here and the T500 here page now shows the driver for Vista 32 and XP as version 8.2.4.

The experience is that this problem is solved in the restaurant or by installing the 8.2.4 version of the Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver. If the 8.6.0 driver was installed through system update, go to Device Manager and open the Intel(r) ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller. On the driver tab, make sure that 8.6.0 is installed, and then click the roll back button.

If the T400/500 has been shipped with the 8.6.0 driver installed, first driver to download the 8.2.4 and run the extract in the c:\drivers folder. Update driver then choose Device Manager. On the second screen appearing to ensure you choose "Let Me pick from a list of drivers on the computer' - in the case otherwise, he will tell you, best driver is already installed when you click Next. In the next screen, select Intel(r) ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller and click on "disk" and on the next screen, specify the path c:\drivers\win\imsm.

PS review iastor in case connection error messages comparing them to the update system install history as follows:

    1. in Control Panel, in administrative tools, open the Windows event log. If this is not the first time, you use the newspaper, you may need to select the local newspaper - the top left - line for the Summary window to open in the Middle, you can maximize this window down.

    2. Select the error line in the Middle window and click Show all instances of this event on the right side. All error events are now listed in the Middle window.

    3. click on filter the current view on the right side. In the new menu, enter 9 in the field of event ID, select ok and then Yes.

    4. you should now have a list of all occurrences of the error in iastor event. Scroll through the list and note the timestamp of the first occurrence of the error.

    5. open Thinkvantage System Update, then select historical spectacle of installation. Scroll the window to the right you see the timestamps. Examine your updates, just before the message in iastor appeared first in your event log.

    Original entry

My new T500 a few days after the execution of the first update of the system began to hang once or twice every 24 hours with light on HARD drive and "the device, \Device\Ide\iaStor0, did not in the expiration time" in the registry.

    ,

iastor is the Intel Matrix Storage Manager (MSM) for their device RAID/AHCI controllers. The Intel AHCI controller listed in as installed for the T500 shows version 8.6.0 Device Manager, which is the current version according to the Intel web site.

There are zero warnings to disk in the event log errors, I ran the drive diagnostic - the drive is healthy. I don't think that this is a problem of DVD or disc, it's the MSM which is a failure.

Googling on the MSM error message there is a certain. A batch is since last year and concerns of Intel THAT MSM supporting properly - l/min, this has been fixed in MSM 7.5.0 see http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/imsm/sb/CS-025783.htm

A second batch was held earlier this year for Dell laptops that, without looking into the details, seems to have been caused by an incompatibility between the BIOS and the MSM reported. (Update system to update my BIOS to 1.20 - 1, 01).

Other solutions to this problem found on the web include the removal of iastor/MSM settings in the Windows registry to disable l/min and turn off AHCI in the BIOS.

It would be nice to be able to verify that this isn't a hard drive problem by disabling the AHCI and therefore the Intel controller. How to do that in T500 BIOS Setup and what are the implications on the performance of my drive (Hitachi 160 GB at 7200 RPM)?

  • CS3 - lights flicker-ext/night

    Hello

I have a video clip, 720x480i dv ntsc 29.97... Some people having dinner in the night outside on a porch/veranda...

It is lighted by what looks like a single source (projector may be... out of the frame)... .and the light flickers.

It looks like what you could get a shoot with HMI sine wave instead of the square wave ballast...

Orrrr... looks like what an incandescent bulb would be like if the cycle per second of the power was about 40-45...

The country is the Zimbabwe... and I saw in the other power cables of shots going to the building... so I doubt that's a generator but don't know.

Anyway, I know it of crazy but is it possible to make the flicker less noticeable when dealing with cycle by problem of second type incandescent as looks at?  It's the only shot I have of 'dinner' at this place...  GRRRRR...

Nope, only way to avoid this adjusts the shutterspeed while shooting.

  • XPS 8700 lights

The XPS 8700 is equipped with a led lights? I bought a Dell laptop a few years back and was disappointed that she did not have a hard drive light. It it? I find the lack of a very annoying, especially when you try to troubleshoot the computer takes care of something or not. The availability of light is a determinant as to whether or not I'm going to buy the computer.

There is no mention or indication of all the lights in any image or manual, I could find on the web.

Yes. It has a small white light of HDD indicator on the front and also turns on the power button on the top.

  • Dv6-3131TX screen flicker

I recently bought a HP Pavilion Dv6-3131TX laptop and it was fine at all at first, but after a week or so my eyes started to hurt if I have been on it for more than 10 minutes. I realized there is a light flicker on the screen. In my view, that he can have something to do with the refresh rate, although I'm not completely sure.

    Here are my specs:

    • Core i5 2.53 GHz 460 M
    • ATI Radeon HD5650 1 GB
    • 15.6 with resolution 1366 x 768
    • Graphics driver is up to date (Version 8.771.1.0)
    • Windows 7 64-bit (SP1)

    Further information can be given.

This sounds like a problem with the resolution or refresh rate, or is the defective screen?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello

LCDs should have really no flickering at all pixels do not physically turn and outside, that's why the refresh rate is not a factor as it allows to be with older CRT monitors - most laptop LCD screens display a refresh rate of 60 Hz.

As you are getting a flickering effect and given that your laptop is under warranty, I would contact HP for it to be looked at.  You can contact HP about this here.

    Kind regards

  • HP Pavilion 15 laptop: The laptop has been shutdown automatically

    Hello!

I've been using this laptop for almost a year now and it has never happened before with me. While I was working on the laptop, it stopped all of a sudden. Any order of work which includes the display, the light power, HDD witness, all but fan of led. Fan was working at a speed much more than normal.

I tried pressing the power button, long pressing the power button to force the system to stop, as I tried to connect it to the charger, but nothing has changed. It were not protesting same power cable connected light. It was so weird to me. My battery was around 40% at the time of closing down.

Finally, I removed the battery and inserted a second time to restart the laptop.

I was just to find out what happened and why it happened all of a sudden. Given that it was the first time, I don't want it happen again in the future. So, if someone can tell me why it stopped all of a sudden. Is there any log that is stored in the PC for such events, I can give you, but you must tell me where could I find.

    Thank you

    Hello

Thanks for posting in the HP Support forum.

These things can happen because of hardware problems or software issues. From what you describe, it actually froze, did not stop automatically. You're the one who took the dough to force stop.

You can view these HP articles on similar situations:

    > > http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03408309 (Win 10, 8.1, 8)

    > > http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01896793 (Win 7)

Given that this only happened once so far, I would recommend you don't change anything at the moment, but just check a few things to ensure the most critical parts are OK.

-You can go to start > > settings > > Control Panel > > administrative tools > > event viewer to examine the most recent activity log.

You can check the logs of Windows (System and Application).

Please, do not be afraid if you see a lot of red or yellow points - not all of them critical - it is a simple logging system

-You can search your computer for malware/viruses to make sure there is not everything. Some may cause locks.

You can check with the free tools like these:

    Kaspersky TDSS Killer > > http://support.kaspersky.com/us/5350

    ESET Online Scanner > > http://download.eset.com/special/eos/esetsmartinstaller_enu.exe (www.eset.com)

    Sophos HitmanPro > > http://www.surfright.nl/en/hitmanpro

    Remove all threats if found

-Check the status of Windows Update in Control Panel and it is not set to automatic, but rather the value in order to warn you before you download and install updates. Sometimes, if a updates takes longer to download/install, a computer might freeze.

-You can check the hardware in your computer for hardware problems. Here's how:

    > > http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03467259

    > > http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03467259#AbT1

Once you load the UEFI material diagnosticsPlease, perform the Test System > > quick test

It will quickly check the most important components such as battery, RAM, HDD, motherboard, processor

Let me know what you were doing, what the results were.

  • Re: Satellite A100 - cannot get video off the LCD screen

Hi, I'm fixing a Satellite A100 for someone. I can't get the video on the LCD display, an external monitor, either the s-video port.
The system turns on and you hear the fans from the looks of the lights, the HDD seems to start windows.
I reinstalled the two RAM modules and tried to use the FN + F5, but no luck.

Is there a common problem with these machines?

    Thanks in advance.

    > Y at - it a common problem with these machines?
Sorry but I don't understand this question. I have 3 years old A100 (PSAA9E) and it works perfectly. If keyboard suddenly stop to answer should I think it may be a common problem with this model of laptop?

Back to your problem: FN + F5 will work if the operating system is fully loaded. You hear sounds? You don't see anything on the screen?
    Experiment with RGB port also.

  • HP ENVY 5530: B814E906 error code

Bought this machine yesterday, works fine when connected with the USB of my count.

However I can't work in Wi - Fi.

Judge for 2 evenings together now more than a dozen suggestions posted here. Also run printing HP and Scan Doctor several times.

Withe each attempt to connect I get a blue screen with a code: B814E906 , and then a white screen with the message "it is a printer problem. Stop your printer and starts again. "And all the lights flicker.

Cannot find an explanation for this error code anywhere in this forum?

I'm out of options and that my machine works wireless!

    What I'm doing wrong here?

    Thanks for your reply.

I contacted Ziggo today and they confirm your response. Ubee modem I have this problem. They say that they are working on an update, but they cannot say when this update will be available.

I returned my modem Ubee in from Ziggo store is close and has received a TC7200 of Technicolor in replacement. I took 5 minutes to reinstall and able to connect to the printer immediately!

So if you have a Ziggo Ubee modem, ask for a replacement of a different type wireless modem!

  • Photos of Interior dark intermittently

I have a T6i located in more than a year.  I shoot indoors under normal light room often, using the automatic setting.  Recently, the shots are dark intermittently and varies according to the level of darkness.  Sometimes you can tell just any image, other times you can get him out there.   When it starts to happen, there are maybe three dark shots in a row, then all of a sudden a perfectly lit shot.

    annhackler wrote:

The problem occurs only on the inside. And it happens that when the flash is supposed to work - to compensate for I've been shooting with the 'flash off' or 'sport' setting on the inside. Diver Hank has suggested that the problem might be that I had moved the ISO to a setting fixed auto and he's right, I do that. I moved back to auto ISO, so I'll see if that solved the problem.  But I shoot more often that otherwise in Intelligent Auto scene - so there is no option on ISO - and the problem remains.  It seems that on every third shot is dark.

As others have suggested, there is a strong possibility that you are under the influence of the LED lights flicker.  Fortunately the T6i has the "Anti-Flickering" option so you should enable that.  While there is no guarantee that it will fix the problem, it will be 1. reduce it and 2. He will tell you that there is a problem of flicker (FLICKER! appears on the viewfinder).

  • computer won't start, replaced power has not set

I had a problem for the last few weeks when I try to turn on 1 of my computers, initially, it would not just usually turn on and start. I would like to press the button and it would flick amber a second but not turn on. Sometimes it turns on after hours and the last times that the internet on it had become very slow, and yet the same internet worked fine on the computer that I use to post with. The computer itself was not slow, just the internet about it. I don't know how this could be related, but I guess it must be related to my problem given that the Internet is fine on my other computer. The fan on the computer also was not working but replace the PSU which set.

Also, not sure if this is related, but until this problem occurs the computer freezes a lot and I have to force it off the coast. Or he would break himself. I don't know what message it would but it would go to the black screen of death and mention something about an internal clock, then restart itself.

I removed the Mcafee antivirus software a few weeks before and downloaded Microsoft virus softwear on the same day. Other then that I did not any changes to the computer recently. I use a Dell Studio xps 435MT with vista. I checked and all drivers are updated.

Here are the steps I did the last time that I was able to get on this weeks trying to understand the problem: I have run the dell diagnostic test and it detected no problems. I also looked in the event viewer, but there's a lot of mistakes, so I don't know if it could cause a problem. Memory diagnostics have been run, and no problem found there. A comprehensive analysis was performed as well and it detected no viruses.

Since then, I've replaced the power supply and now instead of light, flicking a second flashing repeatable, yet does not turn upward. Fan works again tho so it's good, I guess.  Power supply is compatible and right hook. Before purchase power supply also bought the new point of sale, so that obviously wasn't the problem etiher.

Please help me I need this computer works again one I am on now is much older and slower.
