  You can get in trouble with your device drivers.  Go to Device Manager by going to start / find and type Device Manager and enter and then double-click on the program icon that appears.  Check each device to a red x, yellow! or white?  These identify devices with problems probably (drivers, but also of conflict or something else).  Click on each for more details and troubleshooting tips.  If you need to get drivers (and you shouldbring at least for an external hard drive and all you have time to do - they can help way beyond simply solve this problem), let the computer dealer or the manufacturer of the device (NOT of Microsoft Updates).  In fact, you must disable automatic updates in Windows Update driver as follows: http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/how-to-disable-automatic-driver-installation-in-windows-vista/.   I just got a new PC from HP Pavilion model p6-2136. I want to transfer my files from my WD external drive but I can't find it on my new PC. I can't "understand where the WD is on my PC to access. On the old computer, it was the icon I just clicked on. When I pull up to what I think, it's the WD info it showsall these files, but they are empty? I assumed that WD had saved all my files etc. automatically from the old PC. I have the My Book WDBAAF 5000 EBK.

  I need to transfer all my docs, picutres & also get my favorites transferred.

  2. are you able to detect the external hard drive with another computer?

  3. you receive an error code or message?

  I suggest you to check if you can see the external hard drive in Windows Explorer.

  Try to connect the external hard drive to another port and check the issue.

  Check also if the external hard drive works fine in the other computer.

  Error 0x8007045d is "ERROR_IO_DEVICE" - "the request could not be performed because of an i/o device error."

  Check the behavior in a clean boot, or insafe mode.  If it persists, you will have a problem with the external hard drive.

  LR is not a file Explorer. He knows only the disks that you imported photos of.

  If you have previously imported these photos, then later moved into the external hard drive, go to the library files and "update location" Panel on the files that you moved.

  If you have never imported these images on the external hard drive, perform an import by using the option 'Add' (not ' copy') to keep the images on the external hard drive during import.

  messages? Can you enter into the project and render it again if necessary and proceed with the project?

  For people who read this thread, I offer the following information.  I solved the problem by noticing that the problem could have been caused, when the system image is created.  So I did a backup without creating the system image and backup is complete without error.

  Then I used the backup program to create a system image.  This time error (0x8007045D) was displayed.   The error report says "the operation failed for a device error encountered with the source or the destination. If the volume of the source or the destination is on a disk, run CHKDSK /R on the source volume or destination and then try again using. »

  So I ran chkdsk/r, and this program is a bad sector on the hard drive of my computer and fixed the error.  It took about an hour to run the program.  Now, the image of the system and the backup of data file work again.

  So I think that the main cause of error (0x8078012D) is deborahgarbe of i/o error (0x8007045D).  So if you get the first error code you can search for fixes for the second error code fix the root cause.

  Your question is a bit confusing, you can boot the laptop at all? Have you tried booting in safe mode, you can make a recovery DVD set from there, the folder Toshiba.

  With the drive in the Toshiba, you should be able to use a F, F10, F11, or F12 key to activate the installation from the partition hidden started upward.

  Initially, I looked in the Finder for the hard disk appears, but nothing has ever, even after 15 minutes to be connected.   How old is the drive?

  I know that I had a problem once with a WD drive that had this type of behavior, and I could not use any utility software disc 3rd party on it to retrieve files or disk to repartition/format utility there. The drive is running but not visible anywhere on any Mac. My situation is that the drive had nothing of value to this topic, I used a top hammer so that nobody else could get something on it when I threw it in the trash.
