need to reinstall win 8

I am in need to win 8 on my computer. I removed and installed win7 on it, and when I did a clean install I accidentally the partition with this info about it. Win 8 came installed on this computer when I bought it. I'm out of warranty so don't think not that dell will help me any suggestions. It is a Dell Inspirion 3520 bought new in 2013.

I could not download the right version for my computer. I had already deleted all the partitions containing the license key and everything I tried to find it did not work. Finally, I bought a new copy of win 8.1 and sailed through the installation. Thank you for your help and your quick response. Very much appreciated.

You must use the generic key if the system came with Windows 8.0 and install with Windows 8.1 due to the poor design of Microsoft. For a system that came with Windows 8.1 your BIOS SLP key is automatically entered with 8.1 Windows media.

    The brackets must be bootable.

    Hello

According to the versions of Windows and Office (retail vs oem sales), it may be not legal to do that, even if you did not have the installation media. Software OEM is linked to the computer that was originally installed on, and it is not legal to transfer these certificates to a new PC.

  • Need to reinstall Win 7 on Satellite Pro C660

    Hello

I reinstall windows 7 laptop satellite pro and I formatted the disc before you create the operating system recovery disks.
    How can I do?

I just have to activate the license of Windows 7 before moving on to Windows 10 in free mode.

    Thank you!!!

If you have formatted the HARD drive before you create a recovery disc, then you will not be able to recover the laptop back to factory settings.

In this case, you have two options:

    (1) you will use a Microsoft installation disc to install Windows 7 (you need valid serial key and license of MS)
    or
    (2) you will order the Arvato service recovery disk: http://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/

  • Need to reinstall Win 7 after a hard no training crash - no disks/backup

I have a laptop Dell Inspiron. I got Win 10 on it for three months or more and the hard drive died yesterday. I said to win 10 to 'fix' but he could not. I want to come back to Win 7, have the product key but not drives - installation or backup. Dell technical support was no help beyond telling me to replace the hard drive and buy a commercial version of Windows 7, which doesn't seem to be available. I ordered a new HD - one SSD and a Pack of Windows 7 Professional SP1 64 bit (OEM) System Builder DVD 1 (for the Installation of refurbished PC) but I'm not sure if the drive is working. Can someone tell me if it will be? If not, are there other options? Thank you very much.

Please look over the steps to clean reinstall Windows 7 especially the steps printed in red that relate to the drivers how are the best treated in Windows 7.

Visit the Support Web page of Dell downloads to download Flash stick or disk of the LAN driver for your Dell number on the sticker on PC.  If there is more than one and you don't know who it is now that you have reinstalled, you can find in Device Manager by running Hardware Identification.

Install the driver to connect to the network by clicking the icon in the system tray network.  Problems can be diagnosed by right clicking the network icon.

You can contact HP and request a set of Windows 7 recovery discs to reinstall the operating system on the new hard drive.

Manufacturers that make normally for a fee.

Or download the correct ISO file and make your own drive and use the product key located on the COA sticker.

And Neosmart has instructions on how to burn ISO disk images using imgburn:

The COA sticker is either or in the battery compartment on the underside of the laptop.

    Hi all.

I replaced the HARD drive on my Elitebook2570p for SSD and I need to reinstall Win 7 Pro OEM to enable using my travel sticker located under the battery.

I saw in aid of MS that we should reach to the local HP service center to do this, can cause seller issued series of Win does not allow with MS Genuine audit.

However, the service representative Local HP told me that they cannot ask for Win 7 Installer CD to professional laptops and I must ask HP support directly.

If I understand correctly, OEM Win key is locked down for my motherboard, and unless I replace, I can't reinstall and activate the OS without any problem.

  • Envy h8: after Windows 10 reset impossible to reinstall win tv software

I upgraded to windows 10 8.1 all on time and everything seemed fine. Then last week I found that several functions do not work on the PC. As Start button, Windows Store, some of the apps etc etc. Is not too worried but thought I'd reset after having read about it on the Microsoft Web site. Followed the instructions and kept my files but when the PC has finiished I found that all who have been with the PC or software I had installed had disappeared.

I've always had the installation disks for the software I have installed, but couldn't know how resinstall the software preinstalled, when I bought the PC. Most of it I don't mind, but I would really like to reinstall Win Tv7.

I remember vaguely seeing awhile back on the resettlement of the recovery partition software but can't seem to do it now and the HP website has only an update for Win TV for windows 8.

    Anyone got any ideas please?

    Gordonmac8

    Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

I read your post about the problems with Win TV and wanted to help - but we need more information.

We need the details of your PC product number.  There should be a sticker with this information on the case.

There is more than one model of your laptop, and we need the specific model number to search for information on this subject.

I personally found the updates of Win10 to be a mixed bag - a work very well, plus have problems, some fail miserably!

The only way to reinstall the HP software that is preinstalled on the PC is to use something known as HP recovery media.  It is a set of DVD and a CD or a USB key, which will erase the hard drive (removing all data, applications and settings, reinstall the original OS, drivers and utilities for HP. In some cases, you will be able to order a USB instead of discs.  You must order at HP; they cannot be downloaded.

If you are interested in this approach, then let me know - and I'll see if the recovery media is available by using the product number of details of your PC.

As for versions of the software, unless the PC is delivered with Win10 preinstalled HP, even if there is a version Win10 of the HP software, he has no way to download and install it.  So, you would have the same problem.

We can proceed once you provide the information.

    Thank you

  • DM4-2165dx: good day. I want to reinstall win 7, the slower after 5 years.

I would like to reinstall win 7 64 bit on my pavilion laptop, without losing my license key.

[Personal information deleted] is the serial number of my laptop.

I bought the laptop in us, 14/01/2012, Charleston and I still have the original receipt on me. I live in Hungary.

I want to get the right to reinstall the way for my win 7 Home premium oa.

I contacted directly to microsoft technical support and they sent me this House Home premium English sp1 x 64 iso and me says to contact HP, because I have to make sure that Hp supports the reinstall, I need to know, how many times can I reinstall my OS, because it may be limited by HP.

I also have a plan to replace my hard drive soon, to avoid the old hdd to cause problems of its natural damping.

More information: I couldn't save the laptop, I bought a year before the years chooseable available on the page of the commercial register,

    so

I could not contact with chat support,

That is why I take the issue here.

I could not redeem the media Support HP - order software support and pilot here, that address different purchase and delivery can be a problem, I think.

That I bought the laptop in the United States, but live in Hungary, I do not want to have problems with product registration home address, address of purchase and etc...

It would be great to download the iso right from a link, if I was able to reinstall the operating system, without waiting for the drive.

Or if the iso of windows provided by windows 7 is good, and I will not lose my windows license, it is also a good option.

Or anything else that can do the reinstall on the right track.

    Hello

Thanks for posting in the HP Support forum. Welcome aboard!

I just checked and it works - you can purchase media recovery using the following URL from here > > http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-dm4-Entertainment-Notebook-PC-series/5145680/model/5171100

Price is 25 USD - 3 DVDs but the questions is that the system provides only U.S. addresses shipping. Since you're outside the States, this could be a problem.

I also checked that it is available on a 3rd party site that might be able to ship outside of the U.S.. > > http://www.computersurgeons.com/p-22105-windows-7-64b-recovery-kit-669481-001-for-hp-pavilion-entertainment-notebook-pc-model-number-dm4-2165dx.aspx

If you have HP recovery media, I suggest you contact HP support, explain the situation and see if they can ship the recovery media in the Hungary. You can check with the support of the Hungary > > http://www8.hp.com/hu/hu/contact-hp/phone-assist.html

Another option that will probably work now on the existing HARD drive:

Each HP computer that has Windows preinstalled comes with recovery partitions that can be used to reinstall Windows to factory default condition. It's called HP recovery process. If the partitions are still there and intact, they will do the trick for you and you will be able to recover now. Here's how to perform a recovery > > http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01867418

    > > http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01867418#AbT3

Essentially - restart the computer and as soon as it starts booting keep hitting the Esc key (such as tap-tap-tap) to access the HP boot menu. Choose F11 - recovery and follow the on-screen instructions.  Backup your data before restoring.

In case you decide to replace the HARD drive with an SSDor a new one, then you can the previous image player and to transfer the image to the new free software like Clonezilla > > www.clonezilla.org

Please, let me know how it goes.

  • Need to reset Win - XP, whenever someone connects

I just reinstalled Win - XP Pro (from scratch) on the PC of a friend after I installed a new motherboard.  SP3 has been installed and all THE members updates from the web.  Since doing these updates, whenever a user opens a session system needs to be reset to use another (or even the same user) to connect again.  If you try to connect without resetting, wallpaper (picture) comes up without the etc on the desktop shortcut icons and no bar of tasks or 'Start' etc.  If you do Cntr + Alt + Delete, you get the Windows Task Manager and can do a few things from there (including rebooting).  Try to run Explorer.exe results in no results whatsoever.

    Hi ghendo,

Thank you for using the Microsoft Forum!

Run an online scan to check if the problem is caused by viruses
    http://OneCare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm

Try to do a system restore to go back to a point before SP3 was installed, if possible, by following this link: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/306084

If you are able to do a restore of the system (before the SP3 Installation), then,.

    1. download service pack 3 from microsoft official site
    2. restart the computer and start the computer in safe mode.
    3. install the SP 3 from there.

In Windows XP Safe Mode steps:

To enter the Windows 2000 / XP Safe mode , as the computer is starting press on and hold your "F8 key" which should show "Windows Advanced Options Menu" as shown below. Use the arrows on your keyboard to move to "Safe Mode" and press your enter key.

Note: With some computers, if you hold down a key as the computer boot you will get a stuck key message. In this case, instead of pressing and holding the "F8" key, press the "F8" key continuously until you get the boot menu.

Hard to get into Windows 2000 or Windows XP Safe mode - if after several attempts you are unable to get into Windows 2000 or Windows XP Mode safe, that the computer starts in windows, turn off your computer. When the computer is turned on the next time window should be noticed that the computer does not correctly start and give you the Safe Mode screen.

After Safe Mode your next troubleshooting step would be to boot

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista or Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Note When you perform a clean boot, you may temporarily lose some functionality. When you start the computer as usual, the function returns. However, you may receive the error message, or you can experience the original behavior.

Follow the steps below to put your computer in a clean boot state:

Note If the computer is connected to a network, network policy settings may prevent you from following these steps. We recommend strongly that you do not use System Configuration utility to change startup options on the computer, unless a support engineer Microsoft directs you to do so. This can make the computer unusable.

Log the computer by using an account with administrator rights.

    2. click on the Start button, type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER to start the System Configuration utility.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.

    3. on the general tab, click Selective startup, and then clear the check box load startup items. (The check box use the file Boot is not available.)

    4. on the Services tab, click to select the skin all the Microsoft services check box, and then click Disable all.

Note following this step lets Microsoft services continue to operate. These services include networking, Plug-and-Play, record of events, error reporting, and other services. If you disable these services, you can permanently delete all restore points. Do not do this if you want to use to restore the system with the existing restore points.

    5. click OK and then click on restart.

Check the link to learn more about the clean boot below:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

Click the Start button, type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.

On the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

When you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

    Hope this helps

    Thanks and greetings
