Network folders showing uo repeatedly

I have tree computers on a home network.

Running on an XP on Vista n it on Windows 7.

I have file sharing enabled on all three machnies.

When I go to the network of any one of these machines and look at one of the other two I get several 'Documents' or 'Office' folder list

How can I reduce that so that files only once.

Thanks in advance Rudi Lingohr

Hello Imran

Thanks again for your great help.

I have resoved my problem with the multile list by trunog disabled sharing on network Majic and then on only selected records.

I had previously (kind and obviously wandering) lit a few fulders and subfolders.

I don't have to go to fashion Windows safe, but it will keep in mind for next time.

Thank you!!    an another learning experience for me.

  • XP toolbar based on the network not showing folder does not icons after sleep. Is it possible to "Refresh" w/o reboot? __

I have a couple of toolbars (right-click Taskbar, toolbars, new toolbar), I created the network folders. More often than otherwise (used to not be that way a few years back) do not show the icons on the toolbar after the release of the standby mode. I can right click and choose "open folder" and reach the places I need as a work-around, but that beats the purpose of having the toolbar.

I would like to have a way to refresh/reset the toolbar and have the icons without rebooting (or deletion / recreation). An hour or two, they made their reappearance - of course like to know what sequence of events caused that. Select / deselect the options to the right click (show the title, text, etc.) on the toolbar does not make the icons reappear.

  • I deleted the available network folders by default

If this has been covered, I can not find, so apologies. I have deleted my default available network folders, but I don't know how to restore it. I hit the reset, but it is still gone. Can someone tell me please in the right direction to restore? Thank you very much.

    Well, I thought I did.

I did another hard reset. Redid all my settings, that I rescued him, re - insert the USB key, and it is now on the network. I don't know what it was. But all is well with the network now. Thanks for all the help.

  • My network configuration shows a computer belonging to others. How can I remove it?

my network configuration shows a computer belonging to others.  How can I remove it?

    original title: grafting the internet

    Hi Maureen,

That your router has security enabled protection?  My guess is it doesn't and it's the way that person uses your wireless connection (like someone to visit with a laptop you could if you configure).

As a general rule, access to the router is by typing http://192.168.1.1 (or whatever your gateway address) in the address bar of your browser and you will be able to bring up the router configuration settings.  He'll probably want a username and password.  Sorry, I can't help you there because I have no idea what it could be.  Try admin/admin or admin/password or administrator/administrator or administrator/password or admin and no password or admin and no password (the classic default settings).  Your ISP or service of technical assistance of the manufacturer of the router may be able to help put this in place.  After that, how configure security entirely depends on the ISP, the router, the type of operating system you have, the type of internet connection you have and a number of other factors that I have no way to know, even if you told me that information.

In fact, to see if this applies even, go to the Network Center and sharing, and click on manage wireless connections.  Select and double click on your network.  Click the Security tab and see if it is configured with the entries in the drop boxes first two points in the key with a password applies.  If it does not exist, then there is no security on your wireless router.  If there is, then your network is secure without doubt.

When you see the active connection, click on start / all programs / accessories / and double click on Control Panel.  Type IPCONFIG/all and see if you can identify this other connection of the computer.  It should provide more information about it for the purpose of identification.

If your router is not secure, you must fix and this should solve the problem.  If your router is secure, you should change the password/key of the router to see if that solves the problem (and then you will need to change the key to all your wireless computers and devices to match the new).  If it still does not work, then come back and we will come with some other ideas (assuming that the manufacturer of access provider or router cannot help you with this).

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

I have Outlook Express 6. When I want to fix anything, the attachment box appears in a small... with only 6-8 files/folders showing both.  How to adjust the size of the box?  There is no minimize mazimize click or angle to slide.  It used to be adjustable, but no more.  Help?

Like when you open a new message window and either click the button attach or insert | Attachment? I don't ever remember being resizable or a very large box. Change the display of list will give you a bit more, but that's all.

    Hello world

I had the same problem and I solved it by unplugging my pc to the modem, wait about 30 seconds and reconnected. This means that if you do the same thing with your network adapter problem could be solved. Try this option, you will not lose anything

    System: Windows Vista 64-bit

Problem: after files moved or modified, they persist in network folder, for example:\\my-pc\

They are listed under ' computer management > shared folders > actions ", but I can't delete them or change them.

The only way I found to clean these entries is to use Regedit to edit the registry.  First the standard warning from Microsoft:

  • Bookmark toolbar folders show empty drop down box

Basically since the last update, about half of the time when I try to open one of the folders on my bookmarks toolbar, it will show a drop translucent drop-down rather than show the bookmarks in that folder. You can always click where none of those bookmarks would be if they showed and they will take you to the appropriate site. My only way to get around this is to keep clicking on and off the record until they appear normally.

    It looks like this:

According to the details of the system which have been sent to this question, it seems that you use Firefox version 28. The latest version of Firefox is released today - can you please update to Firefox 29 and check that this problem still persists?

Here is a link with instructions on the update:

  • Windows Server 2008 R2 network icon shows no Internet connection

I'm having a problem with my Windows Server 2008 R2 showing without Internet access network icon when, in fact I can browse the Internet without any problems.  Troubleshooting reveals nothing.  It is set with a static IP address and worked before but now shows the yellow warning triangle.  I don't know what caused that change but I was wondering if anyone had an answer for her.  Thank you in advance.

After reading your response, I decided to uninstall and reinstall the program. Thought it would be a little easier. I felt that the problenm was that the program had been damaged but hesitate to reinstall it because I downloaded from the internet several years ago and could not find the product key.  I finally found the program cisco and the location of the key and now works. Not as sexy but effective.

  • Get rid of folders showing half the page by e-mail

Look at one of my emails is impossible at this stage given that half of the page is taken up with my categories of folders on the left side of the page.

If you rest the mouse over the border between the folder list and the preview pane, you can hold the mouse and resize the list files to a smaller size.  If you don't see any of the list of messages, then go to view | Layout and make sure you have the appropriate settings to show.  You can also activate the folder bar and not the list of folders, which appear only as a menu drop-down and full screen will be available for messages.

  • Network folders - cannot move/delete even if not in service

On a shared network drive P: sometimes I can't move or delete folder because it claims it is a process using them.  Even if all the files in the folder (usually from Excel, Word, and PDF files) are closed, this still happens.  However, I usually can I move (or delete) all the contents of the folder, without problem, she has just one problem with the passage of the record as a whole.

If I restart the computer, I can then delete the empty folder.  This makes me think that it's my local machine locked up somehow the folder or content.

What process 'use' the folder? How can I make sure that whenever I want to move or delete a file, I won't run into this issue (as long as no content in the breast are open, of course)?

    Thank you

For those who are curious: I found the culprit.

Photos!  Windows accesses somehow Thumbs.db when trying to move/remove the folder.  The only way to get around this, we found is to go into folder options > view > always show icons, never thumbnails.

I heard there is a way to make thumbnail images on the fly, which would eliminate the thumbs.db to be created (and therefore, would be a permanent solution to this problem).  For the moment, we have disabled views thumbnails for all employees.
