  • MacBook can not access 1300 HP connected to my local network, help?

I have a HP LaserJet 1300 connected via a USB hub to a Macintosh G5 tower which is connected by Ethernet to my Telus Optik V1000H Actiontec modem/router. I read (I think on this forum) that some people have kept the modem Gateway 2 son they used before the upgrade of their service internet of Telus Optik and plugged into the router/modem Actiontec V1000H because he has better wireless capabilities. I did too, but now I don't know what modem/router my MacBook can access my network through now (if this is important).

My new MacBook Pro running OS 10.8.2 accessing my wireless network but cannot access the HP LaserJet 1300. I downloaded and installed the v.2.11 driver of HP on the new MacBook, but when I try to set up the HP LaserJet 1300, I get the error message "Unable to download the software from the server at this time." The MacBook doesn't seem to know that I have already installed the printer driver v.2.11 on it.

I tried to provide much information as possible here, but the line the bottom is I realized that my new MacBook Pro would be able to print to my HP LaserJet 1300 while the printer is connected to my network... but it can't. Can someone help me? I can't really afford a new printer.

BTW - after reading some of the messages, I realize I can't have fax capability via my network, but is not serious. I've never used fax anyway.

I'd appreciate it if someone could help me with some advice or point me to another conversation that could help me. Thank you!

Hi, I am answering my own question so I can mark it as resolved. I continued to read and try different things, and finally (kind of by chance) I solved my problem. I'm not entirely sure how I did it, but I'll try to explain in case someone else is having similar problems.

I downloaded the driver for printer HP 1300 (v.2.11) manually at least twice. I got it on the MacBook Pro, but the computer doesn't seem to be able to access it when I had not the 1300 HP directly connected via USB. It was confusing to me, especially when all the literature said to do a software update, if I was in trouble by doing the work of the printer.

When I went to my printer preferences and tried to set up the HP 1300 with the printer not connected not directly to the MacBook Pro, it came as a printer, but I got a message saying that I couldn't download the software needed at this time there. I left this printer icon on my list of printers. (I knew that I already had the software but couldn't get the printer preferences to realize it is there).

Then, I connected the HP 1300 directly on the MacBook via USB and the process repeated. This time a HP LaserJet 1300 @ my network was created in my list of printer and print driver was on the MacBook Pro. I chose the HP LaserJet 1300 @ my network version as my default printer. I have connected the printer to my network and was able to print wireless from the MacBook.

I'll just let the other HP LaserJet 1300 icon on my list of printers in the case removing a problem. I don't know if I need it or not.

Sorry if my explanation is poor. It would be a miracle if it helped anyone. I'm not very good in this stuff. I got lucky!

  • Cannot access the NSLU2 on network - HELP!

Hello, recently hooked the NSLU2 again after a few years of storage. It fine to the connected router (WRT54GS running tomato 1.25), but for the life of me I can't get to be recognized by the network.  192.168.1.77 ping fails, I have reset the default router without success.

The Ethernet on the NSLU2 light is on and sometimes flashes.  The light of the port on the router is on. It just will not be displayed in the list of devices in the tomato.

Running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.  Thank you!

Hi, use a port scanner to find out that the HTTP port on the slug has been yet defined a former high port number, could access and reset once I got it. I thought that the hardware reset would put this back to 80!

  • Drop ' n Go subnet to breast pre-existing network - Help with routing please

    Hi all

I consider myself the best entry level when it comes to the Cisco ASA 5505, and I appreciate help or direction that someone would be able to provide regarding this question, I'll have. I'm sure there is something out there for this, but I was still not able to understand this with what I found.

We currently have our installation of infrastructure like this: modem(69.14.72.6/255.255.255.248)-> ASA (192.168.1.1)-> Switch-> hosts and Servers(192.168.0.X\24).

What I'm trying to do is to drop in a small router somewhere within this network with its own subnet and be able to communicate back him 192.168.0.X network, so it will look something like this: modem-> ASA-> Switch-> hosts and Servers(192.168.0.X\24) & hosts and Servers(192.168.1.X\24).

I will allow this traffic if all goes well, then that only have 2 interfaces configured on the SAA (0/0 and 0/1-0/5 inside) outside and without changing the configuration of the switch. A few key phrases that come to mind from my research so far are "Hair pin" and "permit same-security-traffic intra-interface". Also, I am aware of the port-forwarding and as I understand it would not as convenient to configure a rule for each device connected to the 192.168.1.X\24 network.

I hope someone can help me with this question, I've been at this for 3 weeks now.

    Thanks again to all!

EDIT: Here is a diagram to help explain what I'm trying to do. The area in red is what I'm trying to add to the others that I already have.

    Hi James,

For the route between the 2 networks, that you will need to either use a layer 3 switch or a "router on a stick".

Installation of a layer 3 switch would interrupt less to your existing network.

You are then ASA "inside" interface--> Layer 3 Distribution Switch--> 2 or more switches to access

  • Virtual network on top of problem physical network, help/ideas welcome!

    Hi all

    After abit of expert advice...

I am currently considering my last year at University project and vmware will be my main platform, I'll create an ethical hacking virtual network for educational purposes. I'm abit undecided about how to go about networking, ideally, I would like to run virtual machines on multiple physical machines and have a virtual DHCP only giving the addresses of virtual machines, so I could keep it on a different subnet, but I guess it's impossible? I couldn't really have static addresses as each machine turned on would be in conflict with each other. The main problem with my task is to head a virtual network on multiple computers that I would have a class of students to each use of a computer of their own. I don't want to go down the road of them have therefore a virtual network on a host that he uses a lot of computer resources and I wish I could change the server they are "experimenting".

Any help would be greatly appreciated on this, she keeps just racking my brain!

    Thank you

    Hi macetrix,

Maybe DHCP reservations can make a difference for you?

As you filter addresses MAC here, you can easily add them when you created a new machine. The MAC address must be displayed in the VirtualCenter Client.

And another idea is to know if you can use signs with asterisk in the field of the MAC address of your DHCP reservations. As VMware uses the same MAC address format, you can enter this address MAC 'Beach' and only give VMware machines a DHCP lease.

Hope this helps the brain less crack

    Guy.

I need little help of networking, we have a physical switch and VM heap are attached to it and physical switch isn't a failvoer configuration, so whenever we lose our physical switch all the vm offline, what I can do to level comments to avoid this problem? I think to add additional NIC on a guest and then perform balancing I guess? any ideas would be appreciated...

Goodness, I thought I was going crazy, glad to see we're all on the same page now... Here is a shot of a network configuration, you can see that 2 bears are assigned to the DMZ portgroup.  vmnic4 and vmnic5 are both connected on different physical switches, so any virtual machine that is part of this portgroup has access to these cards.  ESX decides what Teddy the virtual machine uses so no need to configure anything at the OS level, it is completely transparent.  If a bear down ESX automatically sends the data on it.

Its much easier that your idea was

  • wireless network help

OK, not really good with this stuff netowork. So someone tell me if this is even possible with the material that I have or what I might need to get to make it work. Would be greatly appreciated. My internet is Comcast. The bridge, he goes to 4 computers with all the ports on the back of it. These 4 computers have access to the internet from it and the local network that is put in place in the office. They can all see each other and works very well. One of the computers that is at the back of the Office I want to set up a wireless access point. I have an old BEFW11S4 wireless router which I thought I could use for this somehow. What I tried was running the cable that runs into the computer and run it in the Linksys router. Then from that connect a cable of that back into the computer. What then, is the computer can access the internet, but no longer sees any of the computers on the LAN. And wireless (phones) can access internet from the router wireless very well as well. What I want is for phones being able to have wifi access, no need for them to see the LAN. But I want the PC to be able to see the office LAN and internet. Don't know what I can do to get there.

It's quite possible. Set your network using the LAN - LAN configuration. This way all your computers will still each other, internet access and phone will still be able to use wifi. Here's how you configure. Follow this LINK.

  • New router ' Fritz! Box "7490, reconfiguration of network"

I just upgraded my router, Fritz! Box 7490, & I need to re-set my network help please.

Before the upgrade, I had a very old router Aolynk. This was connected to my TC, the last giving us WiFi for our House, but also my parents House, via an Ethernet cable connecting the TC at the airport Exremem BS. Beside that, I use the TC to occasionally save the iMac & the RMBR & the old router sent our CCTV to phones via an Ethernet cable. The new router is now the primary device & our hub WiFi (Wireless AC active). I read an article that I thought would help, but I had no success.

I need assistance with the above, and some tips on how to host 6 other our audio/video system Ethernet cables (two rooms, each show 3 cables, one for the Smart TV, APR or other devices requiring an update and media coils).

    I want it is-

    1. to put WiFi on my parents. After reading the article, I followed the instructions, linking the TC with my iMac, turn off the "WiFi" on the TC & activation of Bridge mode. I got the TC & tried to thread failed. Run the cable to the Lan port of the router to the WLAN or a LAN on the TC port? I want to use the TC in this way, so I can release the LAN ports of the router, which I have 3 (Gigabit). The 4th is used for the Internet. I then connect an Ethernet cable between a LAN on the TC to the BS port extreme airport as before. I have to configure EI?

    2. I want the Ethernet of CCTV cable through the TC rather than use one of the ports on the router, which is the situation at present. (Of course I don't want another outgoing cable TC goes to the router as it defeats the purpose to release the ports on the router.) I wanted to lift as soon as possible the line & it was the fastest way. We had trouble getting food for the mobile, but once the camera system has been reset to HDCP problem has been fixed.

3 tips on how to manage the flow of both BC I was hoping to give each player to medis/streamer a port on the router, but I'm still short of some?

Once configured, I was hoping to use Time Machine from time to time, which means I needed to take the TC on the network and replace it afterwards or is there another way?

A lot of questions, sorry. Networking is a pretty big unknown.

    Thanks a mil,

    CAPO Dino

Run the cable to the Lan port of the router to the WLAN or a LAN on the TC port?

Yes, at least to make the configuration correctly.

    I have to configure EI?

Possible... Although it should have always in bridge.

Always start a new network with a complete factory Setup configuration.

Start from a factory reset. No files are lost on the drive hard in doing so.

    Universal factory reset

Turning off the TC... That is, remove the power supply cord or the power at the wall outlet, wait 10 seconds... Hold the reset button... be nice... Turn on always even now in reset... and keep holding in for another 10 seconds. You may need assistance because it is difficult to hold in reset and power on. It will show the success quickly flashing led front. Release reset... and wait a few minutes for the TC to reset and return with the factory settings. If the front LED flashes quickly you missed and simply try again. The reset is quite fragile in these... Press the key while it is just click away and not more... I've seen people bend lever or even break. I use a toothpick as a tool.

NB. None of your files on the hard drive of the TC are removed... This simply clears the settings of the router of the TC.

Connect as you said... Ahmed to TC WAN LAN.

Make the configuration of the TC. It is necessary to bridge... (Tab network, router mode... OFF (bridge mode).

The Internet tab should also be on DHCP.

You should see that it gets an IP address from the Fritz... and passes DHCP requested from customers (without wireless or ethernet) through to the Fritz so.

    2. I want that the cable Ethernet of CCTV through the TC rather than use one of the ports on the router.

In bridged TC should not be a problem.

3 tips on how to manage the flow of both BC I was hoping to give each player to medis/streamer a port on the router, but I'm still short of some?

    Transport CANADA ports should work.

However if you are having problems... now go out and buy a 8 ports gigabit switch... It is extremely cheap point now and better than being frustrated by the lack of ports. I run a complex system... but everything is connected via a 16 port gigabit switch. So I never need to mess with the majority of the cables... it does not move even if Exchange you routers and AP autour.

Once configured, I was hoping to use Time Machine from time to time, which means I needed to take the TC on the network and replace it afterwards or is there another way?

Which should be as good... but I also warn you that Mac OS is lost very quickly now. It must connect by ethernet or wireless directly to TB without going through the Fritz. For some strange reason, Apple have evolved in network features that are not compatible... for example, Hello is very important and the Frtiz could be contravention.

    http://www.IP-phone-Forum.de/showthread.php?t=281365

Just do a google for Fritzbox and Hello... you will find many articles... There are questions.

Yes for apple not in line with the standard network world.

As you can see other problems may arise as quickly...

One of my solutions is to use the static IP address instead of the Bridge mode.

Here's a post I did with a bunch of screenshots to explain it.

Try it and see if it helps... assuming that you would have trouble...

I can give specific information if you give me some screenshots of the configuration of the Frtiz... LAN and DHCP IP range.
