I own as a HP Pavilion dv6830us laptop w / Windows Vista Home Premium bought a few years ago.  The hard drive has failed recently.  I just bought a new hard drive.  How would I re - install the OS if the original hard drive is broken?

Thank you!

Hello

You can order a set of replacement recovery disks using the link below and use them to reinstall Vista on the new HARD drive.

Order HP recovery disks.

If you have a problem with this link, order them directly from HP.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

I called HP support... told me that I needed their brand of recovery disks because the motherboard or BIOS would not allow me to install Windows 7 on new replacement HD disks without having their (HP).  So I ordered their... $17

I have to mention every time trying to install OS on new replacement HD... He got about 8 to 12 minute installation before receiving error messages.

  • Can I clean the hard drive before installing Windows Dell & as I've heard doesent clean properly. And how to clean the drive of DART?

Can I clean hard drive before installing Dell Windows 7 / as I have heard it is not clean everything properly. So how to clean the hard drive?

Or can I restore my office before you install Windows 7 in the first place when it's new?

    Kind regards

    Bert Pooler

Yes, you can restore the State as it was when new...

Your computer is equipped with a recovery instead of disk partition...

This is how the recovery partition is accessible to most popular brands...

For Dell, press CTRL + F11 directly after switching on the device

You may need to try several times to get everything above to work. If after several attempts, you have no chance, or the machine indicates that there is no recovery partition, your only option is to contact the computer manufacturer and ask for the model recovery discs...

After the reset, you should get all the updates from Windows Update EXCEPT for hardware devices. Then, you install a good antivirus. ONLY AFTER you have done this, if you replace the stuff of backups or install anything else.

Please can someone help? All I've done is put a new hard drive in but guess that Windows detects that the product key has been used on the old, which explains why it won't work on the new. What should I do to activate the key?

  • Clean hard drive and install Windows 7.

I have a packard Bell desktop computer that was originally installed Windows Vista. When I bought it, I downloaded and created via the site of Packard Bell recovery disks. But last year, when I tried to recover my computer with disks that I realized my recovery disks did not work properly and I couldn't get my computer back. So I decided to buy Windows 7 instead of buying Packard Bell recovery disks. I was using my computer with Windows 7 until today. Today when I tried to wipe my hard drive and reinstall the software I could not install them because the error message said that there was not enough memory in the assigned disk drive. How can I clean all old Windows folders and other files in order to empty the hard drive and reinstall Windows 7 software?

In order to diagnose the problem, you can check if Device Manager disk external drive is listed:

    Hello

Bad audio is not an uncommon problem in Windows 7. Try this for your audio problem:

Let me know if this fixes that issue for you.

The default installation directory, although you can change, all default Windows programs will be always need to reside in C:\Program Files and Program Files (x 86). You would be better to do a clean install with Windows and your programs to the new larger capacity disk and keeping the smaller disk to your audio and video files.

  • switching with SSD hard drive and install windows 8.1

    Hello

I plan to buy a SSD Samsung 850 pro / evo (if you recommend to stick to a 840 please let me know)

I have an alienware r4 bought in September 2014 I got with a normal 3 TB hard I now want to change just a storage disk and install a SSD drive with windows on it.

I have reinstall windows 8.1 once before because of a problem before so im not new and understand the basic. But when even assume I don't know incase I missed a step, or something that should have been done.

I also understand that the key of windows remains on computers that have a UEFI boot mode. If this correct?

Are there any special steps I need to do to install an SSD

I've also heard when to reinstall windows on your computer, that you need something with you mother of the Council which has not made when I first did a reinstall of windows on my computer. But it's a clean install of windows. I don't know what - this 'clean installing windows"and if it is not necessary to then please let me know.

All I really want to do is to install windows on a card SSD to speed up performance without having to buy a new cd and would like to know if the pilot that were usually recommended for my computer will work as it should be, or do I install something different since im put an ssd card into my bench.

    Thank you

The 850 is a great player, and if he is not a big price difference I recommend plus the 840.  Your plan to start SSD sounds good.  As long as you are using the Dell recovery disk, you won't need another Windows key.

In some cases, you will need to opt for the SATA AHCI mode to do a clean install.  FYI, a clean install is the one who clears all data from the disk of destination.

However, Samsung provides a free clone app (available on their website) that you can use to migrate your current installation to the new drive without all the trouble of a new facility.

    Hi all

Need help please. I just bought a Cavior of WD 1 TB hard drive. I have used Norton Ghost to clone my old hard drive again. Then I removed the old hard drive and another to start the system. Currently, Windows XP was asked to enter the password (in my old drive hard, there is no password entry required). When I press ENTER, the windows log.

Also, I tried to log in after you have set a password using ERD Commander (locksmith). I get the same result, that is to say Windows log off after entering the password.

I am at a loss on how to proceed from here. I do not have the CD Windows XP that I bought this computer a few years and did not remember receiving the Windows XP CD. I don't have the product key which is glued on the computer case.

Help, please. I have to activate Windows again?

Ghost allows you to create a backup "Image", and then restore the image to the new disk.
