    Hi Yanni,

Tethered shooting works fine with Lightroom 6.4 on El Capitan.

You can then go ahead and buy Lightroom and perform the tethered shooting.

  • LR3 does not recognize camera serial numbers

Trying to create a smart collection to separate files from my two Canon 5Dmkii - select 'serial number of camera' 'contains' "[serial number}" does not work. This feature simply not work? LR3 does not recognize this info?

Do you need to have Edit > preferences > Presets > "are by default the number of camera-specific" checked?

DdeGannes - checked so don't have that, what he to do? Sorry for the question, but I do not know! OFF to search for...

This option allows to treat two cameras of the same model as two different devices. This allows to separate default settings for each camera of the same model of development:

    http://help.Adobe.com/en_US/Lightroom/3.0/using/WS58F97739-1485-4613-B5D7-C7EA4AFECDC4.htm l

KevetS - what I know, it is impossible for me to see the serial number of the camera that took the photo on one of my many GB of images/catalogs.

Make sure you select "EXIF" or EXIF and IPTC "in the options of metadata, just to the left of the name of metadata in the library module. Then scroll down to see the serial number of the camera in the list of metadata. You can also filter by camera model and serial number by using the filter bar > camera Info, with or without selecting the option "make default camera serial number-specific values.

  • LR3 does not remember last filter setting

When you access the image files in the library module, LR3 does not remember filter settings used during the last visit. It was a great feature in 2. Is it possible to restore this desirable behavior?

    It is a post-it.

  • LR3 does not detected Photoshop CS5

Suddenly LR3 does not detect my newly installed Photoshop CS5. He detected very well yesterday, but today all the options to edit in > menu are gray except Photomatix. Photoshop opens and works fine by itself.

Any ideas would be great... I really hope that I will not have to reinstall Lightroom.

These are the recommended procedures to solve your problem. Dazs, reinstall the PS is the first to go, but you can try editing the registry first.

  • Why LR3 does not produce sRGB compatible images?

An image that I've developed in the module development will look flatter (less saturated) then exported as a JPG and displayed in a browser, if the browser is not color managed. This happens despite the fact that the image is exported using the sRGB color space.

If I find the JPG image with a color managed (with a color-plugin Firefox) browser then it looks exactly to in the develop module.

Why is this? If I select "sRGB" color space, I expect LR to not add a color profile at all and create output that will look identical in color managed and unmanaged colors browsers. I certainly don't expect the output to look flat compared to what I refine in the develop module. I chose "Only images with ICC tags." in the plugin of Firefox's color management and yet it makes LR images differently from the browser unmanaged.

It is not a question to be fooled by the black backgrounds or something like that. Please see the attached screenshot showing a) made Firefox color - managed, unmanaged b color rendering) IE and view of the c module) LR develop. Her effect is much more visible when images are viewed in large, but you can still see the differences in hue and saturation of the Green and red in the screenshot between (Firefox and LR-> left and right) managed color renderings and not managed (IE in the middle) below. Other unmanaged applications show the same rendering than IE.

    LR-not-sRGB-compatible-small.jpg

The free Picasa app reach the procude output which seems identical in all browsers and view of 'Developing' Picasa. Please see the second attached screenshot which shows the same browsers in the same order. (The images seem different images in the first screen shot because I didn't spend much time in Picasa to do the update and it does not have the same control in any case).

    picasa-sRGB-compatible-small.jpg

I use LR3.2 on Windows XP.

I noticed a difference between the rendered the LR develop module and visualization on the web (or other non-color managed applications) before but always put it down to an illusion of "black background".

I find it unacceptable that I don't see what I'm going to go with a space of target of sRGB in LR unless the application used to display is managed by color. Too many people out there using color managed applications, and the Picasa example shows that it is possible to have a WYSIWYG approach.

Do you mean that a screen calibration does two things:

    (a) change the LUT so that colors change immediately for all applications, and

    (b) provide a color transform space?

That's exactly what screen calibration. It has two components. One is the calibration of the gamma response curve (i.e. the LUT). This influences only the answer of contrast of your monitor and the white balance. This affects all applications, but does not color correct, only good neutrals and gamma correct response. Secondary, it creates a profile this color managed apps can use to translate the color so that the color displayed is the one that is specified. Consider now what happens when you have an image containing the sRGB tag (or any other color space). sRGB specifies a tone curve of response (different from the gamma 2.2, generally most of the screens!) and the three primary colors. A managed application of color will take these numbers and translate them into equivalent colors in the monitor profile and then to send the graphic card which applies to the LUT and sends to the screen. This translates into a change in the numbers of colors (R, G, triple B) and a change of luminance but causes the exact colors (as long as you're not outside the range monitor) as you wish. When you use an unmanaged application the R, G, B calues in the original file are sent directly to the card, the LUT is applied and the image is displayed. This ALWAYS results in the wrong color and give a color at random on each monitor there basically. What you see has little to do with what others see. If the control in a browser unmanaged is completely useless. Now, if you have a very good monitor with sRGB responses and which is well calibrated, you might get something acceptable close to the appropriate color. Monitors very few low-end (like most laptop screens) are this way and have a smaller than sRGB range, having a desaturation result. However much more end monitors (and even a certain lower end of DELL and others) have ranges closer to adobeRGB as sRGB and they will show an increase in saturation in unmanaged applications. So now if you are targeting the general public who is not color manage (even if they do more with the prevalence increased a lot of Firefox and Safari, Chrome runs on Mac OS X) you can just control what people see. You certainly can't approach using unmanaged applications yourself. It's actually the worst you can do. Greeting take, is that although sRGB is a standard, individual screens would deviate a little from him. Your screen is clearly as you see a su nonmanaged apps with sRGB files change. A slight change however is normal because sRGB is not gamma 2.2, but a change in saturation indicates your screen is different than sRGB.

If the strategy is to a. calibrate and know your own screen and control your editing/viewing environment and the luminance of the screen, b. export only to sRGB, and C. use only the applications of color management to check the color of your files exported.

This strategy will be the average viewer see something close to you. Individual viewers could deflect a bit if. Nothing you can do about it.

  • Sort by capture time does not

I looked at the responses to similar topics, and most of the problems had something to do with video files. Here's my problem, I have recently updated my Lightroom CC. When I imported 3 Lexar 16 GB cf cards pro using a Lexar workflow Tower, all imported correctly. Which means only one card at a time. I used 2 cameras Nikon D700 separate shooting only RAW files. When I hit 'Sort by capture time' nothing has happened. Files begin with 'D7A' and 'D7B"to keep a tab on what camera which takes snapshots. However, LR is now alone, sorting by file name and no time. I double checked to make sure that the time stamps are correct. I'm on Windows 7 has anyone else seen this behavior? Any suggestions? Many thanks - Harry

I never had this problem '' IF '' the time has been set correctly on both devices. Check the cameras to see if they are turned off in a few minutes or more. Not if they are out of time, but if a camera is set to 12:00 and the other on 12:05 or 01:00.

  • I deleted my files, now LR3 does not open. Just get a box for the recent catalog. How to fix?

I've got LR3, which worked fine until yesterday. As he was that my complete PC, I moved almost all of my photos on an external drive folders. When I tried to start again LR3, it wouldn't work. I just get an empty box, asking me to select a catalog. I tried to uninstall and install but no change. How can I fix this please?

He ask for your catalog files, uninstalling / reinstalling does nothing in this respect. You probably just move to your external drive as well as the image source files. Restore it.

  • Why ACR CC does not recognize QPcalibration of Nikon D810

I used to make the calibrations of color with a map 203 PS:

    (1) take a picture of the QPcard real light with f.ex. Nikon D300S,

    (2) use QPcalibration to create a named colorprofile,

    (3) which shows in CameraRaw 8.7.1 Clibration camera in the CameraProfile drop-down list and in the profile of Calibration of camera to develop LR. (If the photo is taken with Nikon D300S)

But this does not work with Nikon D810.

The computer is running under Win7 x 64 professional (DK).

    5.7, ACR 7.7 LR, Ps CC 14.2.1 x 64

    There cameraprofiles

    C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles\Camera

    and in

    C:\users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles

Everthing seems to work as it did with D300s except:

I have can´t persuade ACR and LR to show my new PS profiles!

    What's wrong?

    / Carsten

There is something wrong with your NEF file.  This isn't a problem to Adobe.  Either way, you mention ACR 7.7.  Are you sure you don't mean 8.7?  I use CC 2014 and the version of ACR is 8.7.

I use PS calibration with the PS card 203 successfully with my D810.  First of all, in order to use the D810 with PS card you need to do two things.  1.), upgrade your software for Calibration of PS version 1.99.  If you still 1.21 b it does NOT support the NAVE of the D810 (D750) files.  2.) If you want to upgrade the software, you need to convert you NAVE in a DNG file, and your profile from that.  Version 1.21 b will support DNG D810 files.

Having said that, I downloaded your sample NAVE of Dropbox and tried it out.  First of all, your NEF file is smaller than I'm used.  For only 32 MB.  Using RAW 12 bit?  Or 14-bit visually lossless compressed mode?  I wonder if QP calibration supports modes.  In any case, when I opened your Calibration PS file is was just goofy.  The white PS Basemap is a pink color.  I was able to make a profile with him and he appeared in ACR, but it was quite useless.

    Hope that helps.
