Nintendo DS, Wii and WRT160N v2

I recently bought this wireless router to replace an older and I was hoping that I could access the internet with my nintendo DS and Wii nintnendo using this router. So far, I am able to connect to my computer via a LAN cable and my laptop wireless. However I had trouble getting my ds and wii online. I tried to information given on the website of nintendo, but nothing helped. I saw something on the activation of the DDNS (currently inactive) but my other options are DynDNS.org and TZO.com and I'm not sure how to get the information required under these two options. If anyone was able to connect these succesfully or knows how I can fix my router info so that I can play online, any info would be great, even if it's just info on one of them. I have a custom SSID and password, set except that I did very little manipulation with the default settings of the router. I don't am not computer savvy, so the more detailed the information, the better.

After a firmware update or the downgrade, you must reset and then re - configure the router...

Press and hold the button of reset for 30 seconds... Release the reset button... Unplug the power cable from your router, wait 30 seconds and reconnect the power cable... Now re - configure your router...

Please take note of the name of the wireless network (SSID) because it's the network identifier...
For wireless security: -.
Click the sub-tab under wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the mode of WEP wireless security, encryption must be 64-bit. Let the empty password, do not type in anything...
Under type of WEP Key 1 in all 10 numbers please (numbers only and no mailbox for example: your 10-digit phone number) and click on save settings... Please note the 1 WEP key as it comes to the security key for the wireless network...

Do not use security WPA as sometimes Nintendo Wii does not connect to a secure network to WPA...

Click the settings advanced wireless
Change the interval of tag to 75 > change the Fragmentation threshold to 2304, change the RTS threshold to 2304 > click 'save settings '...
Now let's see if you can locate your wireless network and try to connect...

Hello I recently installed router wrt160n on a desktop, which works very well. The problem is when I close my laptop and then log into the computer fails to connect to the router automatically. It is able to connect fine when it starts up first. I tried to connect via lynksys easylink advisor, which shows my router is fine, but it still does not connect. If anyone also knows this problem or knows how to solve this answer please.

I guess when you close your laptop, the laptop goes into a 'sleep', ' suspend ', 'hibernate' or similar mode - is that correct?

Well, there is a dirty little secret in the world of computing: when the computer comes out of these modes, the wireless adapter is often not properly re-initialized.   This leads to the problem you described.

    Possible solutions:

    (1) try to just disable your wireless network card (most computers have a switch for it) before closing the cover of the computer.  When the computer resumes, turn the wireless adapter.  It works normally.

    (2) load the latest driver for your wireless card.  I hope that the manufacturer has fixed the driver problem.

    (3) do not leave the computer in layout sleep/suspend/hibernate when the laptop is closed.  Instead, configure your computer to turn off your monitor and hard disk after a certain amount of time of inactivity.  This you will get most of the energy savings of sleep or standby mode.

  • Laptop (HP ZV6000) and WRT160N plu connection problems

I recently got a new HP Touchsmart 600 and set up with a Linksys WRT160Nv2 router. The Touchsmart works fine, no problem, and is so the Dell Latitude D630 I use for work.

However, for some reason, I can't get on the internet through our other computer, which is an older HP Pavilion ZV6000.

I implemented the Broadcom Wireless software that came with the computer and it says that it is "connected" to the router wireless... but when I open Internet Explorer, it says 'cannot connect to the Internet'... and immediately goes to work offline.

I used to have the laptop HP connected to a Linksys WRT54GS wireless router and never had any problems (or, at least, nothing that I couldn't solve).

Is there some kind of conflict between the WRT160N and the HP Mini PCI Broadcom 802. 11B / G wireless LAN Card?

You have the static IP address on the HP laptop.

Do the automatic IP address settings wireless network connection and see if you are able to access the Internet.

  • Help with router, crashing, mario kart wii, question

I seem to have trouble with my router, I have the latest firmware installed and have tried repeatedly to re write the firmware for the router BEFW11s4 V 4

    1. when I go on a site for example bbc.co.uk/radio1 and try to listen live at a show, or 'listen again' my router goes down, and I have to restart my router every time.

2 - while connected to the router using the nintendo wii, after 20 minutes of online game an error message saying that I need to restart the wii. and the game closes its doors, this seems to be a problem with the exact configuration of my router after a google search, and a lot of people have mentioned certain ports need opening, but I'm really not sure on how to do this, as I don't want to spoil things.

    any help appreciated, Lee

I ended up buying a new router wrt160n and its solved the problem

  • Internet connection sharing (6) error during installation of nintendo wifi connector

"sharing the internet connection (6) error" appears when I try to install a nintendo wi - fi connector (to connect between my wii and computer for netflix). I have high speed dial-up (canada), but apparently can use wi - fi connector to talk about the wii. with the first installation, it worked well enough to allow the wii. but the wii could not connect to netflix.
the first time I had hung it, I ended up uninstalling and now when I try to reinstall it, this error message appears.
When I got the wi - fi connector connected the first time, I did it with my antiviirus running program: the help site suggested to uninstall then reinstall the wifi band program. so this time (after you have uninstalled it), I disabled the antivirus, but now get the error message.
I have a call in nintendo, but fear that it is a problem of microsoft xp.

I don't have personal experience with this, but the title claims that it fixes your exact problem: Guide to fixing ' error (6) Internet connection sharing

  • Cannot access Internet even if the router USB adapter Wireless G made the connection and

Hello, I recently bought a Wireless-G USB Network Adapter with SpeedBooster model WUSB54GSC to go with my Wireless-G Broadband Router model WRT54G2 and I can't access the internet.  The laptop tells me I am connected and that force is Excellent, but when I open my browser, I can't access any site at all. When I try to add the laptop to my network magic on my computer, it tells me that it cannot connect with the laptop.  My Nintendo Wii and Itouch work perfectly with the router so I think it's my browser settings, but I can't understand it.  Thank you!

Hey, thanks for trying to help out.  It turns out that my firewall did not allow the laptop to access the internet.  I made a few adjustments on my firewall settings and it all worked out great.

  • Questions now connection for Wii (NETFLIX)

I bought router WRT 120N specifically to view Netflix on my TV.  I have a persistent problem that is literally running me in circles.  I have configured the router and made the connection to the Wii without a hitch.  We watched a movie last night.  After the movie, we close our Wii.  The next day, we went to watch a programme and a code received the error 51330.  I looked at Nintendo to support and found by an online search that this code requires a security problem.  After several attempts to re-engage, we reinstalled the router using the supplied CD.  We have reconnected the Wii and were once more able to watch Netflix.  Yet once we close the Wii and the next day, the same problem persisted.  Reinstalled the router again and connected to the Wii.  We can't understand the problem of security.

The Wii recognizes the Linksys as access point and the signal is strong (green).  The Linksys does know that the Wii is an additional device, but it lists as offline when this problem arises.  If the two are aware of ecah other, why is there a connection problem?

Also, could not connect to 192.168.1.1

Reset the Linksys router for 30 to 45 seconds. Release the reset button... Unplug the power cable from your router, wait 30 seconds and reconnect the power cable... Now re - configure your router... Open an Internet Explorer browser on your computer (desktop) wired page. In the address bar type 192.168.1.1 and press ENTER... Let the empty user name & password use admin lowercase... On the router configuration page, under the Wireless tab... Keep to only 40 MHz channel width... Wide channel 9 and channel 7 - 2.442 GHz Standard.

    Now, check the connection.

  • Need help with Linksys WRT160N!

I had a Linksys WRT160N (version 1) for a few years. I plugged it on my desk, followed by a VOIP router and a cable modem. Internet through Comcast cable with typical 15 to 20 Mbps DL and around 4 Mbps UL (via Speedtest.net and Speakeasy). My only wireless connections have been a Wii and PS3 without any speed problems (both tested).

I just got a netbook Samsung N150 Plus with Win7 Starter and my DL speed is only 0.5-0.7 MB/s but UL is always around 4 Mbps. But only on the netbook... everything else is fine. I tried everything to fix this... updated the firmware on the router, tested the netbook on a different wireless network to ensure that it was not the wireless adapter (works fine), checked computer wired (works fine), tried different channels, tried to turn filtering off, tried to disable the firewall, tried to disable the blocking of anonymous requests etc. I read through other posts and the consensus was to get a new router. I can't believe this is my only option. Am I completely missing a simple difficulty here? Help, please!

Thanks (and bear with me as I'm not as technically savvy as maybe others).

OK... I had finally straightened it. I downloaded the latest version of EasyLink Advisor on my desktop and just rested on my network software. Wireless on my netbook DL speed went from 0.5 Mbps to 15 Mbps. I don't know why... all I know is that I couldn't install the LELA original (from included CD) on Windows 7 (x 86) although I managed to install the network very well (new PC is around the age of 6 months... used to have XP). Nothing has changed in the configuration of the router settings (at least not manually), so I'm not sure why it works now that LELA is installed on the Windows 7 desktop. If anyone knows I'm curious to know why this is... just in case someone else he meets and needs information.

  • WRT160N - unable to connect devices

I just got my WRT160N today. I work with computer almost every day and configure routers pulling from time to time, I went and configured properly. Well, the laptop which is connected physically can access the internet, which means that the router is connected correctly with the modem and its all good. I go to with my printer, mobile, wii and laptop wireless connection... all 4 say they cannot connect to the access point. I broadcast the SSID, and it shows. I put it with WPA2 and we tried both AES and TKIP/AES. I have triple checked my password, SSID, type, all encryption. So I gave up and I ran the CD it came with, in the hope that will fix it... Nope... Even after launching the CD, I am still unable to connect my wireless devices. Does anyone else have this problem and know how I can fix this?

OK, so I just spent 3 hours trying to get this up and running. I chose mixed-BG because that's what all my devices are. When I do this, the width of the 'channel' affects only 20 MHz. Apparently, that was my problem... You can change not 20 once you have selected the BG as mixed mode. So 3 hours later, I change to mixed, which is BGN, and then I was able to choose auto 20/40 for the width of the channel. Low and behold, now my stuff can connect. What he's joking kind of this, guys? Please release an update of the firmware or something that will solve this problem. Now, I have to get up to 5 hours of work, and I'll probably be in a bad mood all day. Thank you!

  • Intermittent connections and router suggestions

    Hi all.

I have problems with my connections sporadically connect and disconnect each time I turn on my Playstation 3. I have all ports forwarded and to be, but I'll always have these problems.

    Here is my current setup:

    Router WRT54G

    Wireless:

2 notebooks, 1 pc, Nintendo wii and a Nintendo DS to occaisonally

    Wired:

    1 PC, 1 Xbox 360, 1 Playstation 3

I even put my PS3 on a demilitarized zone and it did not help.

What should I do to stop the disconnect, and if it requires a better router, which would you recommend?

    Reduce the MTU

    Connect to http://192.168.1.1

Leave the user name and password - admin

    Change MTU - Manual

    Change the size of 1365

    Click on save settings.

  • WRT150N - Wii connection problem

Help, please.  I have a wersion WRT150N 1.1 with the latest firmware available (1.01.9).  I recently bought a Wii and cannot reach the Wii to connect through the normal procedure.  I checked several times that I entered the SSID and the correct key.

So far, I tried the following command to correct this situation:

    (1) tried to get all the info from router manually on the Wii

    (2) wireless and security settings in the router by several recommendations on this issue and other discussion forums.

    (3) entered the mac address for the Wii in the management interface of the router and configured to allow access only by this device

None of this has worked.  All help, assistance or advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Update - I have now the Wii communicates wirelessly with the WRT150N with WPA-TKIP, rather than WEP security.  It is a relief, because I really didn't want to leave my network wireless WEP value security.

Here's how I got it to work:

Checked the newest firmware on the router

    Mixed B/G router set

    Channel 11

MAC filtering enabled and set with the MAC addresses of all my wireless devices

Past the WPA-TKIP to WEP wireless security

Loaded the SSID in the Wii, selected WEP security then responsible for WEP key in Wii - ran the connection test

Test managed - started Wii software up-to-date

Verified that the Wii has been identified on the network with LELA

LELA used to restore security wireless WEP WPA-TKIP - new generated key (for some reason, router management kept interface back to old key, had to use LELA to get the new key)

Internet connection setting are erased in Wii

Réentré SSID, selected the new security mode (WPA-TKIP), and enter new key in Wii

A run the connection test - test passed

Now online with the Wii through my WRT150N wireless uses WPA-TKIP security

I don't know what caused the end it works this time.  It could be the update of the Wii software, it could have been the new WPA key or it could be something else entirely.  Maybe others can enlighten us on the root causes/direct solutions based on this story for the benefit of other users WRT150N similar difficulties to get their Wii online.

  • SE frustrurated and feel lost!

I got WRT160NV2 for about a year. I've never tested with the settings and it was installed by the guy who installed the satalite internet connection here at home at the time.

I'm trying to connect my Wii, but I don't know my network key WEP, the user name or the password! I use xbox live for a year without any problems, using an ethernet cable in my linksys.

I tried to use the user name blank and using "admin" in lowercase for the password, nothing works.

I really don't want to reset my router because I do not know reconfiguring. I'm also afraid I'll mess something up and not being able to connect my laptop or xbox live. I'm tempted to get the adapter for the wii and get a cable as I do with my xbox.

What should I do?  Thanks for any help!

    AAHHH!

I was typing in the password instead of the password all the time!

It turns out that I lost a lot of time and money to the purchase of the adapter.

Well, at least everything works now!
