no access to Time Capsule

Hello, thank you in advance for your help - I really hope that someone can offer helpful advice on this:

I've had my Time Capsule since 11 end and he has never had a single problem. Nearly a month ago it suddenly started failing to save and to give this message:

The backup disk image ' / Volumes/Data/nexthursday.sparsebundle ' could not be found (error (null)).

The password to access the disk, the name is correct, the network works perfectly on all devices, printer is powered AirPrint through it; basically everything kept working as before, it is just the synchronization with the disk that suddenly stopped.

What happens is I run the backup (right now I keep automatic backups because they are just useless); I chose the disk; type the password, accepted; It will of "Looking for backup disks" to "Preparing for backup"-now this phase lasts too long, in fact it crashes and after a few minutes, I get the "the backup disk image ' / Volumes/Data/nexthursday.sparsebundle ' could not be found (error (null)).»

Any ideas on how to solve this problem? I'm terribly afraid that I was not able to save anything, for a month now, and I worked madly so I can't afford to lose everything if something happens.

Time Capsule 2 TB (same time as the laptop)

Thank you once again,

Chiara

End TC 2011 is now 5years old or very close. (It might even be a hardware version 3).

The usual recommended the TC lasts 3 years... also he will lose reliability and more than 5 years, I would put replacement as head of list.

Forget trying to fix it.

If you are at all concerned about your backups... go out and buy a 2 TB or more large USB key... do it now, do it NOW.

Which plug in your laptop and the installation disk... must be HFS + formatted.

I recommend that partition into two parts... Use Carbon Copy Cloner or similar for the partition to boot and TM for the secondary partition. Have a clone bootable your computer will get you upwards and in a few minutes.

It is faster and more reliable and much cheaper than the replacement of the TC. Expect that Apple will release a new version of the TC before buying again as the current one, we're now > 3 years on the market and the design of 4 years.

You can continue to use the TC as a router until it dies.

I think I am following the steps in Airport utility, but once installation is complete I can find is no longer the time Capsule.

I want to configure my Time Capsule 3 to extend the network

The time Capsule cannot "extend" the network Uverse using a wireless connection, if that's maybe what you're trying to do. The time Capsule can only wireless "extend" the signal of another router from Apple.

The Capsule can be configured to extend the network to Uverse if it is connected permanently... anytime... to the Uverse router using a connection through wired Ethernet cable.

    router Huawei HG622u

    1. activation of NAT

If it is possible to run your modem without NAT, that is to say fill so that the TC is the main router, will be much more successful than to try to convey the CCMM via a router.

CCMM if I understand correctly, he must use many more ports... but it is very difficult to get a TC behind a NAT router to work. While Apple says that a computer will work behind a UPNP router, a TC will NOT... There is no UPNP integrated with open ports.

Get help using Back to My Mac - Apple Support

TCP and UDP ports used by Apple software - Support Apple products

    5223 TCP

    5350 UDP

    5351 UDP

    5353 UDP

Of course, not all these ports are needed... This is why it is preferable to install the TC in order to open the ports it needs.

There are other methods of access remotely with the help of the CCMM... and simply transmit AFP TB is the best. I think you're confused or confusing instructions.

Airport drive - remote (3 methods)

It seems you are trying to use method 3, but not all do it properly...

8888 has nothing to do with the CCMM or AFP. Tesserax chose him as a port to be used for the translation of the AFP 548 port. You did no translation of port. There is nothing in the TC to meet 8888... 548 alone will work.

And this has nothing to do with the CCMM. While let... do try and use both methods of access on top of the other. This gives a big mess.

  • Restore backup after the reset Time Capsule (1st generation) using Windows PC

I apologize if this question is somewhere already. I tried to find an answer and I've seen similar discussions but not exactly what I need.

A bit of history... The location is a small school with about 10 cameras, its network systems, point of sale, cloud networked storage, etc. Was asked by the owner to create or activate a Guest WiFi SSID. They said he worked at the same time, but some work was done by a previous technician and they lost the WiFi of comments.

So I used the Airport utility to access the time Capsule. However, after the change to the next level (enable the public IP sharing? maybe?), he ended up destroying the entire network, as in nothing was back upward when the utility scanned for devices. Even the Time Capsule was not recognized by the utility. I ended up doing a hard reset on the Time Capsule and do my best to manually configure the device again, even though I was not initially designed the network. I have also discovered that 1st generation Time Capsules have no comments WiFi capabilities.

To make a long story short (too late... "I know sorry..) .. I got most of the features, functions, etc. on the network back where they were before, with the exception of camera systems and a network storage device active cloud to the owner's House.  What I would like to know is... Since then, I understand that a hard reset does NOT erase the backup or other data on the shared disk in the time Capsule... is there an easy way to restore the settings of all of the time Capsule before the problem occurred?  I would need to do this using a Windows computer.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. What I'm trying to avoid the most is having to reset all the cameras, which are upstairs, hard to reach areas. I guess that people who were previously assigned on the cameras must still be there. If only I could get the Capsule of time exactly where it was before he went down, which would allow me to save a lot of time and frustration.

You can also (2nd choice)... If there is a simple way to detect the active network cameras and other devices on the Time Capsule and pull the IP out of them, that would be helpful as well.

    Thanks in advance for answers!

What I would like to know is... Since then, I understand that a hard reset does NOT erase the backup or other data on the shared disk in the time Capsule... is there an easy way to restore the settings of all of the time Capsule before the problem occurred?

    You have my sympathy all...

Been to this place before today... and I always get myself into it by pure stubbornness... I should just walk on some of these jobs and tell them too hard...!

What you had to do was to export the configuration before you start playing. Without export of the configuration there is not much hope of healing to less than the previous tech saved a configuration to the unit... This example gets much delicate.

The TC is actually able to contain several configurations... There is a good chance, however, that wipe you the.

Anyway... coming to the serious Tin. (same version on Mac and PC utility should work the same).

Here's my TC who foolishly a reset.

When I do something... first manual configuration, I wonder is to revert to the previous version.

You have done or could you saved the previous settings as a profile... I hope that you did... in the hope...!

IF so, you have a saved profile.

In the area of the top menu go in manage profiles.

Now, if you are lucky or did the job just last time... by accident... you'll have a saved profile... Just click back.

If nothing is there, or it's current settings... Sorry, but you didn't know something was there... and you cannot was expected to know the trouble you would get yourself in.

If you have changed a setting in the TC of the bridge in router mode...

(enable the public IP sharing? maybe?)

Getting back to what it was... mode bridge being the most common.

At the bridge of the TC does control most things... and you need to return to the main router.

If the TC kicking upward a stench to return to the bridge, reset it simply still once and then bridge will work... It would be useful to loads to remember what was the setting... just to see the bridge takes the TC of the equation to know where the cameras are.

If the cameras are on static IP, they will respond to a ping scanner... If the primary router is configured for a standard range of IP addresses... 192.168.1.xxx some.

Then the TC in bridge must have also taken an ip address in this range and the cameras (Ethernet or wireless)?

I hope that ethernet, but if they were using the TC as a wireless access point, unless you know exactly the SSID wireless as it was in the past then you do not have this info...

Look at any computer, they have in the building that was running wireless and watch all the SSID that they use... one of these is likely the TC and you can restore this name.

Or drop a camera... and ethernet allows to connect to him... and find the ssid, that it's been fixed... redefine the TC on this name (SSID) wireless security... all cameras must be able to connect to it... and you can then restore the entire system by connecting to the IP address that will be displayed in the list on the main router.

Good luck.. as says Han Solo... you'll need!

  • Time Capsule missing after installing new router

I recently installed a new wifi router for my home network. Previously, I used only my time capsule to back up data and intend to continue to use it for backups. However, with my new router, I can't find how to access the time capsule to keep backups. I have time capsule directly connected to the router via ethernet and it will still not appear in AirPort Utility or enable Time Machine to find.

    Any suggestions?

    Everything has changed.

With a new router, you have a 'new' network... and the time Capsule is to remember the parameters which it was equipped to work in your 'old' network The time Capsule is lost and he can't find his way.

Reset to return to the default settings Time Capsule

    Connect it to the router

Set up the time again to work with the "new" network Capsule

Files stored on the Time Capsule, his internal drive or an external drive attached to its USB port, are considered as network drives. If your SONOS application can access network drives, then it should be able to locate these files on the Time Capsule.

Since I don't have a SONOS device to check, the typical path on the drive would be: \ < name of base station >-< partition or the shared disk name >

    (1) try to reset the password for the utility disk AirPort

    (2) open TextEdit on the Mac and type the password in plain text in an editor window.  This will allow you to ensure that all the keys on the keyboard are recognized.  I've seen cases where passwords fail again and again because of a problem with a wrong key on the keyboard or a habit of typing that makes you believe that you enter the password one way, but the result is something else.  Be able to actually see that typed password allows to check that.

  • My Airport Time Capsule can act as a WIRELESS access point

    Hello.

I brought a Time Capsule with my Mac Pro. It worked well since yesterday.

I have set up the time Capsule as a WIFI, bypass at my local network access point. There is a router (cable) works at home.

It's my Mac Pro AirPort Utility and my iPhone, my Time Capsule is displayed with an exclamation point saying "device not found". I can't connect to the disk on this subject by afp share, or smb. Time Machine function is gone too. He failed trying to connect to the share drive from another computer connected to the time Capsule by cable network.

But at the same time, WiFi works well.

I tried to recycle energy. Sharing disk will be available. But if I start the Time Machine backup, it will not be a few seconds.

    Any idea?

    Thank you.

There are several posts here related the issue.

Luckily, you have set up your new Time Capsule for Back to My Mac (BTMM)?

If so, the 'temporary' solution is to delete/disable the option of the CCMM, as follows:

    • Run the AirPort Utility.
    • Select the base and then station, select change.
    • On the tab of the Base Station, go back to the section of my Mac at the bottom of the window.
    • If you have entries here, select it and click then the minus sign "-" button to remove it.
    • Click on update and allow the base station restart.

If you have not enabled CCMM, we have other options for you to try.

  • Access the 4th generation Time Capsule data remotely in Mac and PC

    Hi all

I intend to log in case Apple support, but my Service and Support coverage is already expired > _ <.

Apple PC does not support mobile devices like IOS or android, so in this top, I'll focus on Mac and PC.

Appreciate if you guys could give me advice on how to set it up properly.

    Material and Configuration:

    -ASUS RT-AC5300

    Firmware version: last 3.0.0.4.380_3341 - g25420f5

    IP: 192.168.1.1

-Configured Port forwarding, Port 548 to 192.168.1.85 in ASUS router

-Time Capsule from Apple 4th generation (Firmware version: 7.6.7 last)

    IP: 192.168.1.85

-Cable for direct LAN connection between TC Apple and ASUS router

I can access my Apple TC LAN for PC and Mac (for PC, installed the Base Station Agent from the airport, for Mac, I access it via the Finder with credentials for password)

Tried several times to set the TC to be able to access remotely to both Mac and PC platform, also read many articles, no luck.

Grateful if someone here can guide me on how to configure it so that it works correctly.

In your Mac, in the finder, use Go, connect to the server.

    Type of AFP://yourpublicIP

Download your public IP address of the router asus news... remote WAN you should use DDNS... iCloud is useless... disable in the TC... It does not work behind another router for most people.

But you must use the public IP address or DDNS address... It is available in the Asus firmware. Best is to buy a static public IP address from your ISP... This is the only reliable method... is worth a bit of money on a dynamic IP.

This is unnecessary for Windows computer... Access SMB is usually blocked by ISP and Windows does not support AFP.

Please post your pictures directly here... It's so much easier, then, for us to see.

Potentially, Yes. Network Wi - Fi of the new Time Capsule can interfere with this other Wi - Fi router. What is the brand and model of the other device?
