No audio/s devices after xp reinstalled because of hard drive problem

Hello, my brothers Emachines W3502 encountered a problem and wouldn't start. It would also not reinstall the OS from the unique DVD ROM drive there. We thought the drive was defective (this computer sat near a tanning bed). His friend has replaced the hard drive, I don't know with what. He has also reinstalled windows xp home edition. Subsequently, there was no noise. No volume devices, no device for sound playback, no sound recording device, no MIDI music playback device. Also, the Device Manager shows YELLOW? (question mark) next to the other category of devices, and in the other devices category the simple PCI, PCI communications device controller, video controller (VGA compatible), SM bus controller all have YELLOW? (question mark). Thanks in advance for any help. Thanks, Jim

I would like to add the following:
in the "other devices" category, all devices show that no driver has been installed
When I try to reinstall the drivers for the "other devices", without the cd, allowing the computer to search the web for the drivers, it does not find the necessary software for any of them. Thanks, Jim

2nd edition:
I have also noticed that in the information system / components / his device, this area is completely empty without any information whatsoever. I also noticed that this seems to be a hot potato for a reason, so, I would like say that if the only advice that I can be given is to try the operating system reinstall once again, it would be quite enough. Thank you and you have been more than useful in the past for a person with the knowledge it please go ahead and say "try again" or something else, so I'm convinced it's the best solution to this problem and I can mark this as answered.

Sorry to have bothered y ' all just sick as Mark said, because I don't like leaving in suspended animation like this causing unnecessary looks. Anyway thanks, really. See ya later, Jim Me wnt be no troble juice try a lern

    Hi Bobby Collas,.

You must have a copy of the installation CD without which you can not re - install the OS again.

If it were an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) installation, you can restore the factory settings. Contact the manufacturer to do the same.

  • After you have reinstalled a new hard drive, my system is slower than before

I have a dv6000 HP Pavilion with Windows vista 32 bit.  My hard drive crashed and we bought and upgraded to a 500 GB.  I reinstalled all my software and update everything, but it seems that it has not been installed correctly (vista).  This is my 2nd hard drive and the 1st time, we have not had any problems.  This time it does not appear that correctly reinstalled Vista.  None of my previous icons came back, I had to do these myself.  My system is "slower" than ever.  Commissioning is slow, clicking in IE is slow.  My system seems to freeze and lock up a lot now then that on the internet or turned off.  Sometimes just clicking on IE or even one of my programs, it takes a very long time to come.  No information has no reinstall my external hard drive, everything here is new and fresh.  I'm just uninstall everything and try everything again.  I am completely frustrated.

    Hi Jan,

Do you have more details on the hard disk that you purchased? These can be signs that the drive is defective and fails.
Usually, if a car goes to the failure of your computer behaves strangely. This could be anything to take time abnormally long starting or opening programs to receive errors trying to save files.
Since how long have you bought the new drive? If he was recently, which means the last month or so, I think it would be better to return it to the store that you bought it and exchange it for a scratch disk.
  • Pavilion DM4-1265dx does not start after the restoration, the new hard drive

    Hello:

I have a laptop of clients that a hard drive has been giving an iminent failure message.  I was able to create a disc of recovery and replaced the original HD (640 GB) with a 500 GB HD.  I can't do the factory recovery because the hard drive is smaller, but it allows me to perform a recovery of the operating system.  The question that I am running is after he read the DVD 6, the system wants to re-start and then it crashes just in the HP splash screen.  If I turn it works, I get could not find a boot device.

How can I get around that, before the establishment with a win 7 CD?  Is this process of recovery to a waste of time, as I did on the previous model HP computers and it has always worked.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

    Mike

    Hi cloud:

To be more precise, of memory, there are two options, reset and factory restore.  Factory restore won't do it because the disk is slightly smaller.  Factory reset will allow me to put the recovery disk hard, but when he re - start, it crashes just in the hp splash screen.  When I do the three fingers of salvation, then I get cannot find the boot device.  I made the internal test and everything passes with flying colors.

I finished download an iso image and install from scratch, but I can tell you that it is the system more screwed up that I never ran into 30 years of working with these toys.  I tired to do a repair, but that creates just again the same symptom.

I have an Acer Tablet that I've been able to use the computers acer recovery disk that was not intended (but had the same version of the operating system) and at least was able to get the operating system and software and finished to the top with the right drivers, size of the hard drive has been ignored in their case.

Thanks for help you, it is appreciated, but I doubt I can recommend HP to one of my clients in the future based on what I've run here.  This is inconsistent with a solution of recovery as far as I'm concerned, that MS requires manufacturers.  Lets get real, hardware fails for various reasons, and you may not necessarily the same size hard drives with the rate of change occurring in the industry.  Personally, I prefer a game of installation for the operating system and drivers disks.  Dell is one of the only ones I know who did this, and as much as their material is so so, they do at least that right of the party.

    Once again thank you.

  • Upgrade to Windows 10 after that I got my hard drive replaced

    Hello

I have a Dell Inspiron 15R running Windows 10 I received through the upgrade process.

Recently, he has developed some hard drive problems I went and got the hard drive changed but had to install windows 8 because it is the operating system it came with. So I very well, I'll go through the whole process again no problem.

I spent a few hours trying to raise all the updates and then realized that there was none, so I downloaded the Windows 10 Upgrade Wizard and tried to go through but it gave me an error for "Operating system". It says "You need to activate Windows before upgrading".

He said windows is activated but Activation details displays a 0xC004C003 error code. I looked at this community solutions to this and tried the phone activation process, but it says I could be victim of piracy of software through automated Messaging. Who has no sense because I was running the same copy before with my Microsoft ID and all.

Why he thinks that the software can be hacked?

What should I do now? It is ridiculous to force me to buy a new key. Why should I pay again for something I already own.

If I've been duped by the store, I got my replaced hard drive so how can I restore my windows with my own key?

    For Windows 8 (.1), see http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media

If you want to upgrade to Win10, there is a way to do it, too - but I think you would be better to remove your current installation of Win8 & running (i.e. activated & fully-patched - including get Windows installed 8.1) before worrying about the upgrade to Win10.

These hardware scan sites are a waste of time, better to look manually as shown above.

    Otherwise:

REBOOT - under sound click right panel where it says no Audio devices installed - check Show
-Show hidden devices - disabled devices highlight speakers - lower right properties - turn on the device

    32-bit Vista SigmaTel Audio Driver Version: 6.10.5365.0 - 05/10/2007

If you need it - download - SAVE - go to where you put it - RIGHT CLICK - RUN AS ADMIN - after restart
    each installation of the driver.

Don't forget to compare versions in device - sounds like audio often rollback - so do drivers Manager
of course, the installed version is 6.10.5365.0 - Run - Reboot - check until this version presents itself.

Then repeat with this last one - Vista 6 - 10.5939
    HTTP://SUPPORT.GATEWAY.COM/SUPPORT/DRIVERS/GETFILE.ASP?ID=22199&DSCR=IDT/SIGMATEL%20AUDIO%20DRIVER%20VERSION:%206.10.5939.0&UID=242738947

Don't forget to compare versions in device - sounds like audio drivers Manager often rollback
Run - Reboot - check until this version presents itself.

If the driver will update just don't use this method then reinstall (and later check the version).
