No detected boot device

Greetings,

Earlier today, I tried to use my PC, a HP Pavilion Elite e9180f, to find that he would go through the blue screen in the boot process, and then cut to a screen of static type as that of a snowy television channel. I went into the BIOS and found that the hard drive still detected and apparently working properly. I tried to change the boot order in the BIOS, hard drive #1, still no luck.

Any advice?

Parents don't have confidence in me with dealing with the problem all addition, taken to the Geek Squad for diagnostics.

Motherboard trashed.

  • Cannot detect the boot device after factory new HARD drive format

First of all, I have a HP Pavilion G6 I bought in December 2012. Yesterday, I decided to make a new record HARD to upgrade and start over. It is a hybrid SSD + HDD 1 TB of Seagate. It installed without a hitch, and I used my HP recovery CD to make a factory disk formatting.

He finishes, reboot, but instead to restart the HP Windows 8 installation screens, he goes to what looks like Windows 8 course mode with a box containing the date, time and he said something in the sense of 'Installing the driver HP diagnostics' with an OK. By clicking on that or didn't disappear, and there is a command line bar in the lower left corner of the screen.

The screen becomes a HP screen that begins to install the drivers. It ends and restarts to a black screen that says "no boot device not detected, please install OS."

I did a disk check and that's fine. I swapped my reader, and it loads fine. In fact, it's what I use now for this type.

What could be the problem here? The boot order has never changed in the BIOs. If it was the faulty connector I doubt he would charge the reader who was always in the computer. Load disc newly formatted in an external case indicates that Windows 8 is indeed on this subject, but on a 93GB partition even if the disc is 1 TB.

I'm in a stalemate here, and nobody seems to know what to do!

It was indeed the hybrid propulsion system. I exchanged for a normal HARD drive and resetting factory completed without a hitch. It was the mistake on my part! I never guessed it would have been the problem.

Everything was wonderful until the Lion has eaten my Windows OS...

I can start to Win 7 under Bootcamp without problem, but when I try to start windows 7 under the terms of the merger, I now get an error message that says no boot device has been found. Here is a screenshot. And Yes, I did uninstall/reinstall merger with the more recent version.

This is a known issue because the installation of Mac OS X Lion modifies the partition table and all what you need to do is delete the Virtual Machine Boot Camp and add it to the back of the Virtual Machine library.

Take a look at: VMware Fusion 3 support for Mac OS X Lion (10.7)

    • Boot Camp partitions is not accessible through Fusion after upgrade to Lion.

To work around this problem, delete the virtual machine Boot Camp of the library and recreate it. For more information, see the virtual machine to Boot Camp fails to turn on with a disk (1003483) error.

  • HP Envy 15 t-as000: brand new HP Envy w / SSD: "Boot Device not found".

    Hello

I have a brand new (less than 1 week) HP Envy 15 t-as000 w / a 256 GB SSD.  After the impeccable behavior for 1 week, the laptop can be started is no longer.  No boot device is detected.  If I try to run a diagnostic on the hard disk, the BIOS I was informed that it can not detect even a current hard drive (see image)

I don't know what happened.  I'm very careful with my machines.  He has not been abandoned. It has not been dropped on, or taken any sort of somehow.  I just pressed the power button one day (yesterday) and I see this:

Thanks for the tips. I followed your recommendations and sent the laptop to HP for replacement (I bought this unit directly to the output from the HP website).

However, I am frustrated because after all taxes and transportation costs, I had to pay an additional amount of $10.  The total general of the replacement order was $739,79 against $730,90 for the original purchase.  Why am I penalized $ 10 ($8,89 to be exact) for a mistake that was not even my fault?

Also, I had to pay $24,83 FedEx packaging to send the laptop back.  How was I supposed to know I should have brought the Moose with me to Seattle, WA in Ithaca, NY packaging because the SSD was going to fail in my college dorm?

So in the end, my HP Envy $730,90 now goes to the identical replacement of cost unit $739,79 + packaging from FedEx $24,83 phone = $ 764,62.

Bottom line: screw - up HP cost me $33,72!  Not the end of the world but still a ringing sound nice when you're not yet a career with a cushy salary of mickael elite.

  • HP Pavillion 11-N028TU X 360: boot device error after upgrade to Windows 10

    Hello

My laptop had been improved automatically to Windows 10 about 3 days ago. It was fine, but last night, he had a funny noise and stopped working suddenly. I restarted my laptop, but it has shown a pop-up notification:
"not found - boot device please install an operating system on your hard drive.

This morning, I took my laptop to the IT Help Desk at my University, but strangely I could start it and the connection to my windows without any error notification but it took like a usual (about 15 minutes).

What should I do with my laptop? It seems to work normally now, but I fear that it will freeze again all of a sudden. By the way, anyone know if I can use my warranty to the United Kingdom if I bought my laptop in my home country?

    Thank you.

Welcome to the HP Forums! I read your post and wanted to help.

  • no boot device - aspire V5-572PG

    Hi all

When I check the bios hdd0, hdd1 all say there is no hard drive but when I start my windows recovery flash player 8, I see the C: drive and all of its contents from the command prompt. I tried a few guides on the repair of the efi and bcd with no joy. I ran chkdsk c:/x/r, which has detected an error and it fixes but still the same fault. to this im point ideas, suggestions are much appreciated.

    Thank you for your time.

Yes, it should always appear in the BIOS, regardless the State of the format (assuming it has not failed).
I suggested the Recovery Console (called ASO in Win8) simply because your USB has managed to find.
What I don't understand is why the BIOS is not having reported the HARD drive. You could try reinstalling the HARD disk, just in case you have an intermittent connection.

  • DV7-4180us giving msg No. Boot Device or n, HDD, Win7 does not start.

Well, I think I've reached the beginning of what may be a serious problem. I've been away for 9 months and my laptop had been stored in his bag all the time not used with the battery disconnected. I went 2 weeks ago and it had been fine until last Saturday. I started it upwards and once the logon screen Win7 and logging frozen inside, and the screen went black. I have it turned off and restarted, and then he came up with the error message "No. Boot Device" as if Win7 is no longer installed. I ran several virus scanners and they came back without anything, I'm sure that this is not a virus, I mean I have not yet downloaded something long because before my departure other than all of the updates, I missed. I tried to reset the BIOS to factory default and use PC tune-up AVG to fix all the errors, but I'm still having this issue.  Funny, it is sometimes the laptop runs and sometimes it won't so I think this load default Win7 will progressively get worse? Not really sure cause I'm not very technical with laptops.

I tried to run the test drive in the BIOS when it does not load, but it is just like "No hard drive detected" every time, but it passes the test of memory.

The reason why I'm here is to know what are my options to resolve this problem, so far the only thing that I can think of is to replace the HARD drive and reinstall Win7 but I want to make it as painless as possible, or see what others can suggest.

I have no disc for reinstallation of Win7 or any similar to disks. My laptop is out of warranty. I know that I have the Local disk drive (c :)) and also the recovery disk (D :).)  My hard drive is a TOSHIBA MK6465GSX.

Some of my questions are when I take off the Toshiba HDD that will of course remove the (C :) drive BUT it will also delete my recovery disk (D :)? * see link below for what players I have *)

    Hello

A safe and fast way is to clone your HARD drive when it is until running, it means you have the same OS, drivers, software. All you need is the same size or more (capacity) of HARD drive and cloning software. You can find some free cloning software in the following list:
