No Digital Audio output when Internet Streaming on STR-DA5700ES

I have a STR-DA5700ES I bought precisely because it has a digital Toslink out.  I used to use this connection on old receivers to connect to my Sony MDR-DS6500 7.1 headphones.  The headset unit accepts a digital Toslink connection to listen to the audio Dolby Digital.

I can listen to Dolby Digital happy when I watch TV, because it generates the audio of the Toslink out and my helmet.  However, when streaming a movie Internet through the STR-DA5700ES with audio 5.1, it comes out not audio for the Toslink on.

Am I missing something here?

Hello

Unfortunately the receiver works as expected and will not digital audio (HDMI or optical) from all the internal dissemination services. The receiver expects that you will use it connected speakers to listen to surround audio, or the taking of headset available on the front. There is not a firmware update available or planned that the receiver has been designed to work this way and can be changed by modifying the software.  Keep in mind that it is impossible to get 5.1 surround sound 2 headphones to listen to the speakers, the surround effect is 'Virtual' or 'simulated '.  As a work around you can use a media player that allows an external output optical to your TV if it offers streaming services, or head Jack on the front of the receiver that was planned for this exact purpose. I'm sorry for the inconvenience that this has done and have relayed concerns to the right team

  • best way to digital audio output on 6400?

    Hello

I have a 5.1 system surround that accepts audio digital via the coaxial and optical inputs. I would like to connect my laptop through one of these contributions.

When you play a dvd (or downloaded content) with audio digital (IE dolby digital) in my computer (6400), I can only analog audio output through the headphone jack for the moment.

I read some info with what concerns the spdif adapter or sound card.

can someone confirm that the spdif adapter works for 6400 and where I can get this? I live in England.

is his best card and sends audio digital of the surround system without changing it?

should what sound card I use?

    Thanks for any info

  • I want to find the digital audio output on my Pavilion vd6853ea notebook

I spent far too long trying to find where this output.

I have a very good stereo and at the moment am through a USB cable to connect to my DAC.

It seems that there is an output digital realtec somewhere on the laptop as it appears not when I go to the playback devices and it tests ok visually.

The 3.5 jack plug is just analog and hybrid not a spdif.

    Where is he?

Please help as I am getting really fed up now!

I thought that might be the case.

Can I ask you a few more questions please?

If I want to get one don't output digital audio not using a HDMI (my DAC has not this entry), I can get a good result with something like a Musical Fidelity V USB converter S/Pdif link or a digital audio interface M2Tech Hiface? Sorry, I can't make a recommendation on one of these products as I am not familiar with them.

Is it possible to change the soundcard with optical or coaxial output? The sound of your laptop is an integrated solution. It's a (built-in) welded chip on the system board. It cannot be updated.

Thanks again for the kind help!

  • No sound from Digital Audio output

I have a HP Pavilion 1230n, which worked well for me.  Initially, I thought that I had plugged my Boston Acoustic to this computer speakers when I got it, but I am not sure.  in any case the sound works fine through the Green Plug little connects it to my stage monitors.  When I plug in my external speakers to the Digital socket Audio Out I get nothing, I tried to leave the monitor speaker plug and it out.  I get nothing in my external speakers.  I don't see anything in the system that helps me determine if I need to activate the audio digital or not, or how to turn it on.  I have Realtek AC97 Audio.  Please can someone help?  HP wanted $50 to diagnose and trouble shooting with me for once, because it's and the old system.  Thanks in advance to anyone who helps.

Go to control panel-> sounds and click the recording tab, then right click of the mouse to view devices disabled or disconnected. Do the same for the reading tab.

If you are still having problems then go to www.realtek.com for the latest audio driver.

The Realtek HD Audio Manager in the control panel should show a TAB digital output. But as mentioned above, non-digital speakers using SPDIF output is not going to work.

  • Dolby Digital Audio output via HDMI on Satellite A200 cable?

I don't see how to get a Dolby Digital signal on my laptop!

I have a screen LCD HD 1080 p television. With the help of a cable HDMI from laptop to TV gives a beautiful image. I then use an optical link between TV and Surround amplifier... However the amp does not recognize the signal as a Dolby Digital signal.

The record is not clear on issues of Audio. The Toshiba HD-DVD player shows Dolby Digital option and I guess that's out put down the HDMI cable? I hear through the TV speakers.

    Hints would be much appreciated.

    Hello

To be honest I didn t know that there is Satellite A200 laptops with HDMI output. Can you please tell me what A200 you have (A200-xxx)? Are you really sure have an A200?

Back to your problem: as far as I know the Digital Dolby audio can be sent if the laptop has S/PDIF port. You must also use an optical cable and connect laptop to your amp directly.

What you do now is send the signal to the TV only. I don't really know if you can browse the Dolby signal to the amp.

  • analog audio output and digital optical

I just bought a 500-214 with IDT High Def Audio CODEC Pavilion / DTS Sound +.

Is it possible to get opitcal of audio output digital and analog (speakers/headphones) at the same time?  Stereo amp needs access both to the multizone/source function.  I can manually choose one or the other before the reading - it is clumsy that when audio of of active switching devices will turn off, but a passage to not always light up.  But I really need both active simultaneously for amp work properly.  I also found jack rear speaker to be more stubborn while headphones jack front of switch.

    Hi zombi1,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I did some research on whether or not we can use the analog or digital audio output at the same time, and it is unfortunately not possible.

  • Toshiba digital audio out coaxial 48L5445DG - only 2 channels

    Hello!

I use the coaxial digital audio output to connect with my Toshiba 48L5445DG receiver. I want a 5.1 sound, but all what I get TV is 2 channel, receiver shows just how many channels, even if the receiver could convert the sound into 5.1.

I understand that TV should also show the program containing 5.1, I found some programs, as well as video files playing from the USB - only 2 channels.

I tried to play the same video file to sony PS3 connected to the same receiver with optical cable and the Sony PS3 comes 5.1 signal.

    > I tried to play the same video file to sony PS3 connected to the same receiver with optical cable and the Sony PS3 comes 5.1 signal.

Stand by. This sentence confused me. What video files? I thought you have the problem when you watch regular television program. Do you watch movies stored on USB?

On my receiver, I have three different settings (DSP) sound mode:
    -stereo
    -Dolby surround
    Mode - SFC

According to the mode chosen receiver will send sound to speakers on both of them or 5 + 1 only.

  • Digital audio problems on Satellite A300 (PSAGCA-06M01N)

    Hey,.

A few weeks ago I noticed that my laptop is announced with the audio digital. I looked through the sound options of Windows, he told me it is in the front. After a lil' googleing I found out mini-Toslink (optical 3.5 mm).
I bought a cable, it is plugged in, does not work.
Made sure the drivers have been installed, everything seems to go well here.
Tested cable in my computer friends, cablings.

So now I don't know where to go from here?
For me, it seems that the socket or the plug inside is broken, because when I plug a normal headphone jack into the port, it pops up a message saying something just got plugged, however is not with the optical cable.

Someone at - it there HD Audio works on any similar Toshiba? Or does anyone have any ideas as to why it may not work?

    Thanks for any help!

    Hello

Not all A300 are equipped with a digital audio output
However, if you are sure that your laptop supports this feature then it should be possible to operate

You must make sure the digital output was chosen as default in Control Panel-> sound-> the Read tab.

If the digital audio output will not appear in the sound options then you must right-click and must check if both options are enabled; Show hidden devices and show disabled devices.

  • CS5, no Audio output of the Source monitor, but output OK for the program monitor

    Hi all

Any thoughts on why audio output would be audible during playback in a timeline/program monitor, but the same clip doesn't produce audio output when loading in the source monitor? In the body of CS5.

I checked the preference settings and everything seems to be fine there.  We have just added a set of external speakers to this workstation and those are the audio devices in the program monitor.  When a clip is read in the Source monitor, speakers produce a nice low hum, but the sound of the clip is missing.  The buzz that crosses leads me to believe the audio hardware is mapped and set correctly, but maybe not?

    Thanks for your thoughts?

    LIndsay

My apologies for the lack of detail... I know better than that.  Luckily I thought about it the problem.

The clip is Ikegami MXF.  The problem was that the first audio channel didn't have any audio recorded to it.  I changed the properties audio clip and disabled channel 1. Voila! The clip was loaded in the source monitor and the sound became audible.

I found the inspiration for the fix in this thread: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4324033#4324033

    Thanks for the research!

  • Digital input to Toshiba 46TL-> no analog audio output to amplifier

    Hi all

When I connect a video source (e.g. computer laptop via DLNA) to my 46TL, output TV audio analog (red/white taken connected to an amplifier) does not work.

    It does, however, watching television.

Is it possible to configure the TV to read the audio data from digital input (HDMI/DLNA) to the analog output?

    Thank you for the help

Not quite what series of TLxxx you have, but for example the TL938 supports a digital (optical) audio output port that provides a digital audio signal.
Why n t connect the amplifier to the TV using this Jack?

Connectors for component video / audio to the rear of the TV are the ports of ENTRY and not the OUTPUT ports. So, you can send an audio signal to the TV and not the amplifier output.

  • Add TV LCD LG as an audio output device when connected with HDMI

When I connected my laptop to my TV via HDMI, the sound came through the television. But I went to the audio output of the laptop by accidentally turning off the TV as a device on the selection screen of the "playback devices". Now I want to spend my audio back to my TV, but the device is no longer an option. How it add or repair?

    Hello

    Method 1.
Please update the video card drivers, but also the audio drivers and then check if you have the ability to change the audio device by default.

Update your sound driver in Device Manager:
    a. Click Start and then click Control Panel
    b. click on system and Maintenance
    c. under Device Manager, click on devices and equipment display
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue
    d. expand sound, video and game controllers
    e. right click on your Audio Controller, and then click Properties
    f. Select the driver tab
    g. click the Update Driver button.
    h. Select the option automatically search for an updated driver

Windows will now look for an update for your Audio drivers locally and on the internet and then will guide you through the process of installing the driver.

For more information see the links below:

    I hope this helps.

  • Is there a way to have Firefox respects the audio output device by default when it has been modified while Firefox is open?

I've been a Firefox user for many years and I still use it as my main browser. A problem that has bothered me for years lies in the fact that when Firefox is open and I change my audio output device by default, Firefox does not respect this change and continues to play audio through the device that was used to originally. Even if you stop the audio and keep playing, does not change the output device.

Is there a way that this can be configured in Firefox? Now, if I listen to music online (e.g. Soundcloud) I always use Chrome because it is respect changing the default audio output even in the middle of audio playback device.

    Reproduce:

    1. start audio playback (for example a YouTube video; HTML5 and Flash are affected)
    2. change your audio output device by default
    3. audio will continue to play the original output device

    Thank you!
