No existing pictures take a lot of space

Disk utility shows me that the photos take 8 GB of space even my photo library is empty and seeking a jpg. It shows there is no files.

What is the size of your photo library when you select it in the Finder?

An empty photo library must use only a few MB of storage:

.

You have emptied the album recently deleted in your photo library?

If you have migrated your photo library from iPhoto, do you still have the original iPhoto Library somewhere?

  • Can't understand why audio files always take a lot of space on my macbook

Hi everyone, I apologize if this has been asked before, I'm going cross-eyed trying to find an answer.

Stupidly, I didn't use iCloud DOES NOT mean that all my music and photos would be stored on the cloud and take MUCH space on my macbook. I discovered the hard way. So I'm moving all my pictures and music on an external drive. All well and dandy. Except that since I moved my iTunes library and all my music files, when I look at my storage, it shows still 154 GB allocated to audio. (Meanwhile there are now 140 GB Audio on my seagate SOMETHING that was supposed to happen happened.) I've looked everywhere, I can't understand why there are still some 154 GB of audio files on my laptop. Any suggestions or tips are greatly appreciated. Please be lenient, I was on a pc for a few decades and finally crossed the step last year, but I'm still confused by all this cloud stuff and find my way in on a mac. (I'm on OS X Yosemite). I guess it's one thing to iTunes, but I could be far away.

    Thank you in advance.

I guess that after you copied the folder iTunes external hard disk, you checked if everything is there, then deleted the folder iTunes on your Mac drive.

If NOT, then you know what to do.

If so, force Spotlight to reindex the reader.

  • When updates are performed on the computer, they take a lot of space. Why the ancients are not deleted?

    All updates.

The update uninstall method in Windows Vista is quite different from that in Windows XP.

Uninstaller for each update folder no longer exists in Vista and the uninstall information is stored by the Volume Shadow Copy service.

After each update, Volume Shadow Copy service backup only the updated files.

So with Vista, it's a differential backup, rather than a full backup files for uninstall

If you have not already done so, you can recover from space using programs... vsp1cln exe and compcln.exe in C:\WIndows \System32 to make the Service packs permament. This can help you 1 to 2 GB. There is nothing else you can do.

  • backup of the database server takes a lot of space in repository

The heart is on a R2 server in 2012. This is a new installation of 5.4.3.106 there is a base.

I'm reserved system backup and the C drive.

    Drive C is 57 GB.

I made a deposit of 160 GB on a UNC path to somewhere down this server. The backup was made on 29/04/15 07:58. It's 57GB.

The repository is full now. There 3 days.

No doubt.  Deduplication default cache is stored on drive C and by default is saved every hour.  It's quite a lot of paperwork and is what is backed up.  Especially if you have size and have a cache of large deduplication to manage your repository.

You can move that cache of deduplication for another drive and that will help there as it is very likely.

I don't know if you get something to protect the cache of deduplication, since it is not transferable in any case :(

iCloud is a synchronization service, NOT off of storage of the unit.

You could cut the phone out of sync from your library. Just move them to your Mac and synchronize your Mac with iCloud. Now, you'll have plenty of space on your phone, but no pictures.

From your Mac, you can then make an album with photos that you want to access from your phone. This will require ongoing work, but will keep your clear phone in most of the time.

  • Metadata Windows 7 I tend to take a lot of pictures and I want to be able to add metadata to photos that I know what talking about photography,

    original title: metadata Windows 7

I tend to take a lot of pictures and I want to be able to add metadata to photos that I know what talking about the picture, where it was taken, the people of marking on the photo, etc. I used the Windows 7 Explorer to add metadata to photos (the pane at the bottom of the Explorer or by doing a right click and using the properties--> details recording here). Everything's all right. But the addition of data to hundreds of photos is a very demanding task. Therefore, I wanted some advice on the following questions before that I seriously undertake this work on thousands of photos:

    1. If I add metadata to photos using the Windows 7 Explorer, and then copy the photos to another computer with Windows XP, I keep all the metadata information that I added in Windows 7 and be able to read in the Explorer of Windows XP? Or will I lose all the metadata as we can add in a specific Windows 7 format, unreadable by Windows XP? Or even that I lost a part of metadata (fields newly added in Windows 7, in case some [which?])?
    2. These metadata will be compatible in the future versions of Windows? If I upgrade to a later version of Windows (whenever it comes out), my metadata laboriously added will be present and readable as well as all the pictures?
    3. Is metadata embedded in the file or is it stored in another table inside the Windows OS? I know this because, to wire different versions of Windows, I have totally lose the metadata when I copy the photos or that it will be present in the Interior photos but will only be unreadable?

If I lose any of my metadata on different versions of Windows, then this method of recording information of the photo seems unnecessary. If this is the case, can someone advise me the best method to save the details of the photos inside photos so that they are available (and readable), everywhere where the photo is taken or copied.

    Hi mnae,.

If you add metadata to photos and then to copy the photos to another computer it keeps all the metadata information that you added.

If you upgrade to a version more recent Windows information will be preserved. Metadata are embedded in the file only.

I suggest that you first test with some files and check.

  • I can never make a lot of space in my hard drive after back to the top

I regularly save on a hard disk that is attached to Lightroom.  What I've noticed, is the amount of space that I have left is still declining.  After the backup, I used to have over 200 GB of the available MBP 768 GB retina, now, I rarely more than 100 GB.  At some point I'll have no space left at all.  I don't know that I'm doing things correctly.  I noticed that there are duplicate files when I export the. DNG my 645Z or. My A7RII ARW.  So I file raw in LR, the ARW and the .xmp that have been exported (I still name them).  My habit of the end to create more space on my hard drive is to find the .dng and .arw files in the finder, back up to an external hard drive and then remove them from my MBP.  I do not touch other files not named.  What I find good is that even with the hard drive attached, some files are displayed as missing picture.  I can remedy this with a cover of Time Machine, I did a time machine to the top until I backed up (something I always do) images in lightroom.

Could someone tell me what I am doing wrong?  What is the best way to ensure that I have a lot of space?  I can't just buy new laptops all the time when I run out of space.  I save most of my images finished PSCC at the highest quality jpg, so the finished images that are not take total amount of space, but these are not archived on LR that I prefer to use the tag system which uses Mac.

The best approach I've found is always import as of the segregation of records to your home. Make sure that these are backed up by time machine or another mechanism for backup and then if you are not actively using the images in a dated file more copy set in an external hard drive where you keep the same year and the date structure separated. Then in Lightroom, it is a simple case of right (or control), click the folder that you moved in the sidebar of library and select "update folder location" and that it points to the new location of the folder on the external drive. All your images must be accessible as long as external is attached. Now you can remove the folder from your internal hard drive and find space (don't forget to empty the trash).

My main machine is a retina with a 256 GB drive and I easily maintain a 100 of 1000 image catalog Lightroom on it in addition to Photoshop and many other CC software I use (first for most). Most of my images and video life on a large RAID array, but my most recent images months living inside. Easily, you should be able to work with a 768 GB internal. You delete old backups of catalog in Lightroom? By default, Lightroom creates backups of the catalogues that makes every week or so next to the file catalog in a folder "Backups". You don't need to keep a large number of these backups autour. I usually keep only 2 or 3.

  • Updates eat up a lot of space?

I always download the updates. I was just embarrassed by the size, the updates - some updates are as large as 200 MB. These updates take up a lot of space in my laptop? What can I do to make sure that the old updates are deleted on my computer?

Updates take the space they need. Do not think that to destroy never updates. There is nothing called old updates. If you remove an update, you will be asked to download the same update again.

  • Lightroom search existing pictures

Lightroom search existing pictures.  I have pictures that were taken from cameras by Adobe, Onedrive, iPhoto, Windows and old software Toshiba of the camera, a real mess.  I need something that will bring it all together and help me start to organize properly.

I suggest you find all of these images on your hard drive and make the organization before you import into LR. AFAIK LR search your drives for images like iPhoto does. Actually, I just checked and there is no option to search your computer for images. LR do not have to take over your computer and images such as the Apple Mac software.

It is up to you to point LR to records that your images are in during the import process.

So, open the file manager program and create folders to store your images in. I do this by year, month, and day, the pictures were taken, but you can do it anyway you like. Copy and move your images in the newly created folder or folders and then use LR import dialog window to import them into LR. Select then add in this dialog box. You could also use LR to create the folders and then use the Move option to move some images in different folders. But I find it easier to do with a file manager before importing to LR.
