No sound when playing DVDs or videos

I have loaded my videos on my computer, went to read them to then find out that the videos played without sound.  I also tried playing a dvd and there is no sound with it, as well.  I use the latest version of Windows Media Player and have run all of the programs problem-solving and everything seems to work properly, with respect to the hardware/software.   Help, please!

Hello

·        Are you able to hear other sounds of the system on the system?

·        What are the steps that you did for your problem?

·        Do you have an error message when you try to play videos on the system?

·        What application you use to play the videos?

·        Remember to make changes to the system?

I suggest you to check if you are able to play these videos on another computer without any problem or not.

Check if the system volume is not muted.

Apart from that, I suggest following the steps mentioned in the article below and check if the problem persists.

I also suggest you to uninstall the drivers for sound card on the system and then download the drivers from the manufacturer of the system then install again and see if the problem is resolved.

I have an image of good quality but no sound at all when playing DVD using Media Player, but when I play the music is very well please help.

    Hello Jogly22,

Thank you for posting.  This can happen if the Audio track of the DVD is on anything other than what your computer uses.  We will try to change the audio track of the DVD.  You can do this in Media player by clicking on the DVD button at the bottom near the play button.  In the context menu, you should see audio, from there, you should be able to select different audio tracks.

DVD audio is determined by the configuration of the selected in Set Up Your speakers are involved, the type of audio connection that you use to connect your computer to your speakers or stereo receiver and audio settings of the DVD in Windows Media Center. For more information on the configuration of the speakers in Windows Media Center.  Also, the availability of audio digital is based on the options that are enabled by the audio hardware that is installed on your computer. For more information about the features of your audio hardware, refer to the documentation that came with your computer.

Please let me know if this helps you.

  • No sound when playing DVD

There is no sound when I play the DVD in windows media player, it is very good for music, but not for movies, any suggestions?

I tried following the advice as the uninstallation and reinstallation of things, but that didn't work and I also put both things to digital in the properties of windows media player. Is there anything else I can try? Because it used to work, it has just stopped working suddenly.

What is the type of video that you play?

Try to use the system restore and restore in time before the problem happens.

You may need to install the plug-in:

Well, it sounds your need a good codec to play DVDs. As far as I know if you want to watch DVDs with Windows Media Player you need a special codec. Have you tried to watch DVDs with other software that is of InterVideo WinDVD? Try it.

Someone knows a similar to the problem I'm facing.  My T400 fails to any audio output when playing a dvd.  I have no problem with any other audio output other than dvds.  For example - the system sounds, audio cd and audio from the internet are output without any problem.

I uninstalled the Conexant High Def Smart Audio 221 driver and reinstalled the latest and older versions.  Unfortunately this makes no difference.

I know that mine is a laptop pretty old, but despite the update with latest firmware, I have an intermittent problem during DVD playback (Reg 2) because I have picture but no sound, especially with some older DVD.
    CD's are ok.

Toshiba-repairman says it is a software problem and they deal only with material problems.
Can someone tell me how I can deal with this problem please? (apart from getting a model later!)

This really looks like a software problem.
Are you using the same disc region settings when you play these DVDs?
Do you play original DVDs or copies?

Sometimes a missing codex might be responsible for these problems.

    Hello

You won't need the codex if you use programs specifically designed for watching DVDs.
The WinDVD or PowerDVD software is a good choice.

Another question; have you tried to play and watch original movies or you have copied the DVD?

Can you please tell us what drivers have updated you and why? What was wrong with the old drivers?

When you start your next portable speakers test time using preinstalled Toshiba diagnostic tool and post the result here.

What about the temperature of the laptop. 80 c is high temperature but still not critical, and if your mobile phone is placed correctly on the desktop and the cooling fans are not blocked I think you can continue to play the games.
Before the games close all unnecessary applications and uses laptop computer on power plan to high performance.

    Hello

    1. What is the format of the video file you are trying to play?
    2. are you able to hear the sound when you play other videos in Windows Media Player?

    Hello

According to Microsoft Knowledge base article, the error message appears because when you change the Audio hardware acceleration affecting None this removes the device hardware acceleration of the list of possible devices. However, DSound continues to try to map to the device.

Windows cannot execute DPVSetup.exe, use Add/Remove Programs Control Panel to install.
