    I installed vCenter from 5.1 to 5.5.0, build 1750795. The upgrade process has been the sweetest all the upgrade I did since 3.5, until I tried to connect. He said ' you are not allowed to log on the server: vCenter. I found 2035758 KB, but when I tried to add a new domain of identity source, I got the error saying "There is already a native AD ID or AD LDAP registered ID". The vCenter is a child domain member server, but this child domain is not in the identity source, while the root domain and another child. In the web client, I can use admin@system-domain and my administrator of domain (in the same child domain as vCenter) for you to connect. I see that no host have been reconnected.

    Anyway, I contacted the technical support and I was told to use [email protected] to connect and assigned administrator rights for admins of the domain to the level of vcenter. After that, I was able to use my administrator account in domain to connect on vSphere client and web client. After further research, I found that admin@system-domain is no longer the administrator of SSO, instead, it has changed to [email protected]. Little things, but frustrating.

    I am trying to connect to the database remotely. I installed the Oracle client on my local machine (Windows 7) and try to connect to db.

    I am able to do tnsping.  Here is the log.

    But when I try to connect I get ORA-12504: TNS:listener was not the SERVICE_NAME mistakenly CONNECT_DATA.

    I'm trying to deploy VMware APP Volume 3.0 in the laboratory and in trying to integrate App Volume with vCenter.

    I have no firewall between the two vcenter and app volume server are in the same range of IP addresses

    I created a new account named SURI, and tried to use the password of the user account from the HR by using the VALUES clause. I was able to change the password but not able to connect SURI with HR password.

    Oracle produces a hash based on the user name and the password, not only the password.

    Therefore, you can not use the hashed password of a user to log on to the account of another user.

    You need to get the password hashed Suri and then connect you to suri by using the password hashed Suri (using the identified by the syntax of values)

    I am not able to connect to the database using the instant oracle from my local PC client. They use to connect to the database files and sqlnet.ora files LDAP.ora. If I want to test the connection, I found this executable tns wasn't there, so not able to tnsping. So I'm not able to solve this problem.

    Please let me know if a solution for everything

    There is little that tnsping can do sqlplus can't.

    Instead of
    tnsping mydb.myorg.com
    Try
    sqlplus-s-L /@mydb.myorg.com
    or
    sqlplus-s-L user/[email protected]

    If you get
    ORA-12154: TNS: could not resolve the connect identifier specified
    you know that the customer could not resolve 'mydb.myorg.com '.

    If you get
    ORA-12541: TNS:no listener
    then "mydb.myorg.com" could be resolved, but there is no listener it running.

    If you get
    ORA-12514: TNS:listener is not currently of service requested in connect descriptor
    then "mydb.myorg.com" could be solved, the listener is in place, and the database is out of service.

    If you get
    ORA-01017: name of user and password invalid. connection refused
    you know that 'mydb.myorg.com' has been successfully resolved, and the database is running.

    If you want more details, such as how and what "mydb.myorg.com" is resolved, turn the tracking by adding the following to "sqlnet.ora:
    TRACE_LEVEL_CLIENT = ADMIN
    TRACE_DIRECTORY_CLIENT = C:\TEMP (a writable directory)

    Then you will find lines like this in the trace file:

    Make sure ORACLE_HOME is exactly the same between 2 environments: note that an end "/" is not necessary and that ending ' / ' could trigger ORA-01034.
