Not the administrator?

I created myself as an administrator in the user accounts, but still, I get a message saying that I'm not when I try and install or download certain items... WHY or what I am doing wrong?

Thank you

  • Let me export bookmarks as html, say you that I am not the administrator, but I'm

I'm interested in dual-boot for Linux. However, I need to export my favorites. I was always able to export my favorites to an html element, but now say you that I can't because I'm not the administrator? I am the only user and run as administrator. This is not sensible.

You cannot export the Favorites to an HTML on the desktop?

You can make Firefox create an automatic HTML (bookmarks.html) backup when you exit Firefox, if you set the pref to true on the subject browser.bookmarks.autoExportHTML: config page.

The backup is created by default in the profile folder bookmarks.html, but you can set the file name and the path through the pref browser.bookmarks.file on the topic: config page.

The pref browser.bookmarks.file does not exist by default and you must create a new pref to string with the name browser.bookmarks.file and set the value to the full path of the file backup bookmarks.

Note: an HTML backup preserves tags and annotations, to lose them if you need to import the backup HTML.

  • Always problems with my windows xp - I am not the administrator more?

The restore option has not worked but thanks. The problem is that we use this station as our computer for UPS shipping. The software is no longer opens upward. I contacted UPS and after some troubleshooting we determined that it may be a bug in my windows. Reason for this is that when we tried to rename the folder UPS in my drive c: the computer wouldn't let me. Than any other while it says that I am the administrator, that indicates that I am not. The only thing that has changed from one day to the other is that the computer has been disconnected accidentally, would it? All other functions of the computer seems fine. Any suggestions?

The quick test to check if you are administrator must right click on the button 'start '.  If "Open all Users" is one of the choices that is displayed in the pop-up window, then you're probably administrator.

You seem to be confused in regard to access to the files and folders as authorities apply to administrators.  Permission-Wise, directors are like any other user and can be denied or granted access to any file or folder.  The only feature that administrators have that standard users are not is the ability to change the permissions on any file or folder.

The most common problem that arises when power is disconnected unexpectedly on a computer is damaged disk sectors.  If the computer just happened to write to disk when power is interrupted, this sector and those who surround him he might have been damaged.  Therefore, the first thing to that after such an event is to perform a disk check complete with repair options (or/r option specified on a chkdsk /F).  Procedure for that is here:

"How to perform disk error in Windows XP check"

Note that for the system disk, verification will be made at the next reboot of the system, can take hours to perform, and can not be interrupted.  Do during the night or when you won't need the computer for awhile.

About the inability to move the UPS folder...  Is not unfamiliar with this 3rd party software, it would be useful to know what the UPS Directory directory resides in and the error message you received when you tried to rename it.  Remember that if the directory is already used by an active program, it could refuse to rename even with permissions.  You will need to start safe mode and rename it from there.

  • I'm not the administrator of my PC, but still it says I am, he can make up his mind!

I am trying to download an update of the software Digital Media Manager for my Phillips Streamium. They provided the link, but I can not install as it says I need to be administrator to run the program, but I am. I'm the only user, represented by the administrator, but my wonderful system somehow doesn't recognize himself. I works on Windows Vista Edition Home Premium. Please notify. No fancy jargon or apology. I bought the system in good faith a couple of overtaking there, I had no problems so far, and indeed, a simple software upgrade ruined my peace and satisfaction. I don't want to pay something more, something fancy.

    Hello

You have downloaded and saved the update for this program on the desktop or the downloads folder?

If you > right click > select run as administrator.

    See you soon.

You are the administrator or not? You have the admin password at your disposal? Yes or no, please.

If your answer is 'yes' to any of the above, then go Sfae mode. See if you can run the anti-virus in SafeMode.

How to get in Mode safe?

Restart your computer > immediately and repeatedly tapping the F8 key until you see a black and white screen > top/down arrow and select Safe Mode > login to your account > do the virus scan now.

If you need to use the links, and then select Safe Mode with network just instea Safe Mode.

  • Program runs in the hidden administrator account, but not the administrator account

I have been using Altium Designer for about 5 months. One day, I tried Eun and got the error "dxp.exe has stopped working.  So, after trying a re-boot.  I have reinstalled the software.  At the end of installation, I get the message "the system administrator has set policies that prevent this facility." The installation then said that the installation has been completed successfully. I tried: unlock all files in the installation directory, run the installation as an administrator, the installation running on the hidden administrator account. Turn off UAC.

The installation leaves me with a program which runs in hidden administrator but not nromal administrator.  Even if the install ation was made as normal anministrator.

I am running Windows 7 Home premium, so the control of local security is not available.

Thank you for your help ITKnowledge24.  Your post helped me to find parts of the program that I would never know that existed.

It turns out that my problem was in two parts.  First what killed the software is primarily a print unrelated dirver.  (go figure)  Installation errors were caused because I downloaded the version recient most of the manufacturer's Web site.  When I reinstalled using the old version, the installation was without error.  The software starts to run correctly when the printer driver has been removed.  It seems that windows security was only a Kipper.

    1. What is the exact error message you get?

    2. What is the number of KB updates that fail?

  • I have my computer, but I'm not the administrator. Why?

When I try to run certain tasks on my computer I tells me I don't have permission.

The account that you created after the installation of windows 7 is an admin-level account.  Look in Control Panel, user accounts & it will show you that.  Only if you have administrator accounts additional Windows 7 would allow this first account to be relegated to become a standard user account.

Please check the account status, and then update the thread with this information, along with a description of what task you are trying to run & with a statement of exactly what response you get from the system.

You probably mean you want to re - install Windows.  How you do it depends of what laptop you have and whether you have any recovery/reinstallation CDs, but in any case, you do NOT start with "formatting" of the computer.

  • Don't know the name or the password for the administrator account

'Useful' for my internet service technical advisor has created a new administrator account for my non-it network. I don't know the name of the administrator account or the password and am accessing the computer via a guest account. However, because the guest is not the administrator I can't upgrade or changes to the operating system. How can I find the information needed/creat a new administrator/do prompt the administrator? I use Vista Home Premium 32 bit OS. It seems that I can't do a clean install.

This new admin account that technology has created for you could be the built-in Administrator account.
It is, by default, has no password.

Try to connect to it by clicking on this account > Inbox password by pressing the Enter key.

If this does not work and you can ONLY log on to your computer to the guest account, so you don't have any hope of creating a new admin account, activate account built-in Administrator, or you can use the cmd to this effect.

Remind your internet service, tell them what the 'useful' technician had done before and ask them to help, such as...

    1. create new admin with a password that you can remember.

2 delete the one that you do not have the password.

If this cannot be done, the only suggestion that we offer is to re - install Vista.
