  • Notepad opens off screen on the secondary monitor

    Hello

Please bear with me as I'm NOT a Windows person - I usually run Macs. but I'm back to my parents and it's their Windows box.

They are running XP Home SP3. This problem affects all user accounts.

Basically they run a 2 monitor setup - a LCD, a somewhat old (although still perfectly!) Dell CRT reference. The question is about the latter.

Note, I asked my father and he assures me that no applications have been installed since he first noticed this problem. I tried to solve problems better than I can, but I don't have Macs, Windows!

Basically, the notebook want to open on the secondary monitor (running its native resolution of 1024 x 768) completely off the screen (to minimize it, maximize, and close buttons are unavailable). The only way I found to fix it is to reduce the resolution of 600 x 800 and then back to native, but he is a bit of a PITA bread as she has to do every time. As far as I know, the notebook is the only application affected and no new software--or drivers--have been installed since this question bagan occurring. Windows Update is configured to run automatically, even if I don't remember the last time she did it.

I'm sure there must be a quick solution, and easy for this question - if someone would just enlighten me as to what it could be!

    Thank you very much

And I'm not a person dual monitor, so I'm not positive that it works.

When Notepad opens, there will be a tab in the taskbar. Click on this and select move. Now, use the arrow keys to get to the screen. Close all other windows except this one and use the cursor to drag the message to the format full screen, or any size you want. • After starting windows 7 Notepad opens titled GfxCUIServiceInstall

After starting windows 7 Notepad opens a window titled GfxCUIServiceInstall. I had started this process by calling Microsoft. I realized soon that's a mistake. The Tech, I mentioned, began his response to my question to demean my question and my experience? He said, emphatically, that the problem was with the windows operating system itself, and it's my fault for buying a PC, in December of 2012, which had no 8 installed and always ran 7. That ended with her alone and unique solution - I needed to pay for remote access to my PC, to solve this problem, because I didn't have the know-how. So despite deep understanding of this Tech, I ran a search and retrieval system Mech program instead. I found a file called bootsqm.dat. But even once, I'm stuck, because I do not know what folder say file belongs to. This time, instead of having an experience to repeat, I chose to come here to ask the community instead. That experience has really left me a bitter taste to the Microsoft Customer Service. I hope that someone here can and would really help with this one. Thank you in advance.

I found myself in the same situation just two days ago. I thought about her because I traced my actions for these last two days. It turns out that I put all *.vbs files to open Notepad (I did because I was plagued by virus heuristics *.vbs).  GfxCUIServiceInstall is a vbs script and it opens at startup. So if I put the vbs files to open in Notepad, gfxCUIServiceInstall opens at startup in a Notepad file everytime I open my computer. You just need to change the program that windows uses to open these files in "Microsoft Windows based script host" by using the "open with" command shell when you right click on the vbs files. It's a shame the customer service can not provide this kind of solution, not belittle you or convince you to pay him.

  • I'm ready to get Firefox because on several occasions, Notepad opens whenever I have to shoot anything and at no time have I ever used the Web Developer tool

Have used Firefox for many years on several computers. On the Home Office whenever you need to CAP a letter, notebook open instead. Every time!

It is only on this one computer, none of the others.

I completely uninstalled, cleaned and purged Firefox from this computer several times. I ran several virus checks. I did reset the Firefox multiple on several times.

Yesterday, I uninstalled completely the slightest bribe related to Firefox I could find on the system, made a clean to get rid of the hidden files and duplicate system, and with what I was hoping it was a clean system, reinstalled the latest version of FF, same problem.

WHY Notepad comes up whenever I hit the Shift key?

Somehow the developer tools and notebook always see and in the end, the problems start again.

I can understand your frustration with this problem - especially after you run on this issue after you have reset your computer too.

    Four five Six

Well, your code is not still valid in the first place.

There is no function called "tank", the real function is "chr".

The character for a new line character is Chr (10) rather than Chr (13).

In unix operating systems, the line break is just Chr (10).

Operating systems windows/dos line break is Chr (13) | Chr (10), although some windows applications such as Word/Wordpad will understand * nix style chr (10) is like the newlines too, however, things like Notepad will not and will eventually display all data on a single line.

When you transfer a text file of a unix operating system to an operating system of windows that it is usually performed using FTP and you need to make sure you put the software FTP in ASCII mode so that the new line characters get converted correctly...

    FTP > CSA

    200 type set to A.

(for binary files, you ensure that the FTP is set to binary mode so that no byte in the file is corrupted by such a conversion).

By transferring your file using FTP ASCII mode, from unix to windows, the characters Chr (10) in the file will be converted to Chr (13) | the pairs of characters Chr (10), then the file will be displayed correctly in Notepad.  If you transfer from windows to unix in ASCII Chr (13) | Chr (10) pairs are converted back to just chr (10) for unix.

As an alternative, there's also a Unix utility called "unix2dos" which converts a text file from unix style returns to the line of back style line breaks, then you simply transfer the file in binary mode, so no other conversion takes place.

  • Notepad opens at random, does not appear in the Vista virus research

not related to specific programs or mouse they just pop up

    IE / Vista / FujitsuLifebook

    Hi jellybean.

MSCONFIG will help only if the problem only occurs at startup - not if it occurs randomly during the day (unless a malicious software program is installed in the startup programs, but then it is a malware problem and not really a problem of program).

It doesn't sound like you are infected, and before you try all of the other fixes, we should exclude.  I guess you have run a full scan with any security software you use and he come clean - but only one program is not enough and the best is to try several and eventually obtain the assistance of an expert or the confirmation (or work around the personal effort and request the assistance of experts from the beginning).  Please proceed as follows:

First, try the following programs if you do not, because they can help. I recommend you download, install, update and run full scans with Malwarebytes:http://www.malwarebytes.org/ and SuperAntiSpyware:http://superantispyware.com/ and then run a full scan of Microsoft Security:http://www.microsoft.com/security/default.aspx. This may or may not remove the infections, but will probably not correct the damage caused by them. Even if they or your current AV software seem to work or indicate that you are not infected, you should not completely trust in them and must continue with the recommendations that follow (so it's up to you if you want to try them first, or just ignore all this and get help from an expert you really need as described below).

Correctly and completely remove these infections can be complex and often require manual removal procedures (which may or may not be entirely effective either). Even if they work, I suggest what follows in any case, so that we can start it (you can ignore the methods above if you want it really is the way forward, but it won't hurt to them for trying).

Please follow these recommendations of JimR1 - MVP compliments:

When I download a file, (try to download net framework) it goes into my downloads.  When I go to my downloads to open I get a box asking me what I want to open it with.  I never got that before on my other computers.  Download just opened.  Don't know how to get around this problem.

Your computer may be infected with malware.

Open Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\Windows\system32.  Find notepad.exe (you can not see the exe ' ' at the end) and double click it.  Notepad opens or you we the same error message?

    Your desktop shortcuts work correctly?

If you get the error message with Notepad or your shortcuts don't work, then

    A. download, install, update and run scans (one at a time) with each of the following free tools:

    MalwareBytes AntiMalware
    SUPERAntiSpyware

Remove any found object.  You can uninstall programs once you're done if you wish.

Notepad ++ is not a Microsoft product.

Then I suggest you get in touch with the respective support.

    Hi MilindThosar,

Try the steps mentioned below and see if it helps.

    1. open the "my computer" by double clicking on the link on your desktop.

    2. navigate to the directory that contains the JS file.

    3. right click on the file and select 'Open with' and 'Notepad '. Notepad opens with your loaded JS file. Given that the JS files are always written in plain text, Notepad is an editor appropriate for the file. When you are finished editing, go to 'File' and 'Save' to save the file.
