Ntuser.dat locked by system after log off

tons of stuff on the internet about this but no real difficulty. We currently use roaming profiles on a 2 k 3 Server for our Citrix configuration. We met the issue of temporary profiles created because the ntuser.dat file is locked by the system in their ordinary account profile. This has actually been a problem for several years to the contract and I am now cleaning.

We have the GPO to set to point to a share to store profile data, refers to the configuration of the roaming profile.

first thing I noticed was tons of SID keys under HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\Profile list. I deleted all these keys and profiles on the servers of applications under Docs & settings. now on the first login my account has been created on the server, SID created key. after disconnection of application, he removed key SID in the registry, writes data to the profile on hand but profile left on application server because ntuser.dat has been locked. then, the next time you connect, it starts to create profiles of temperature.

Maybe it's a little much info for the real problem at hand, but I wanted to explain the Setup here incase it helps.

does anyone have a solution for this?
UPHClean is not an option because we use roaming profiles. they are always locked.

or does anyone have a script that I could use that force a version of the log off?

any info would be much appreciated. Thank you guys

Have you tried a new Wlan driver?
You should definitely update the driver

I have no idea what you have the WLan card but this Toshiba WLan driver page provides all possible drivers of the WLan for Atheros and Intel cards

You can also try updating the BIOS is an is available

  • Parental control locks not computer after expiry of the period

I don't really understand this behavior to parental control. Parental control is useless if it cannot lock the computer or log off the user after expiry of the time. I noticed that when I expected that after time my child will be locked or logged on but to my surprise parental control didn't do. What is interesting, the deadline has been extended up to an hour more, and that extra hour at the end there deadline extended for another hour more! restricted user is 'standard user' where it can extend the time.

I'm doing something wrong? What can be the cause of this? Is this normal parental control feature. If it's normal, I don't really see the point of its use.

I found that my problem with users not been disconnected after an expiration time has been associated with the Gigabyte Easytune software. When I removed this software everything was back to normal. If children can ovveride delay if they have this software installed :)

  • Access ntuser.dat.log in NETWORK services folder refused even in safe MODE

I try to accessntuser.dat.log in the file services NETWORK even in safe MODE but not private.  I am logged in as ADMINISTRATOR.  I guess that's the case as well if I connected any other user?

I looked in the MGR TASK to try and identify what process this block, but I am at a loss.  Anyone know which circles I need to pass through power to life this file?

Guessing that you mean this file:

    c:\Documents and Settings\NetworkService

You cannot open the file because XP is running and the file is in use and the Task Manager will not help you indicate what (s) blocking process your effort to open the file (it is not what is the Task Manager for).

Sometimes, you can copy a file open and then open the copy, but it will not work with ntuser.dat.log and your efforts to access the file will give results like:

If you want to open the file, you can open a session under a different name and access the file of ntuser.dat.log of another user in this way (since the other user will not in use).

For example, if I am logged on as user ElderK I can't access my ntuser.dat.log file but I can access the file owned by another user as Jose in looking here:

    c:\Documents and Settings\Jose

Or, you can start on something like a Hiren Boot CD and access the file from there since your XP will not work.

I see no reason to watch the ntuser.dat.log file is binary data, then maybe you can tell us what you're trying to do and why (or you just practice).

    Hello

The NTUSER. DAT is a registry file. NTUSER each user. DAT file contains the registry settings to their individual account. The Windows registry, is a "central hierarchical database" that contains information about user profiles, hardware and software contained on a computer. Does Windows constantly reference registry throughout its operation of its files. The configuration of the "HKEY_CURRENT_USER" of the registry branch is supported by NTUSER the current user. DAT file.

Note: this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. Ntuser.dat.LOG files are important to include in a backup that is used to transfer files to a new computer? When you try to backup or copy files I get the message that these files (there are 4 of them) cannot be saved or copied because they have already opened and used on the computer. Hi MAnnetteFox,

Thanks for posting the query on Microsoft Community.

You do not need to take backup of these files and they are normal files that will be generated.

  • index.dat locked by winlogon.exe preventing roaming profiles to be completely unloaded on client PCs

    Greetings,

I posted this thread in the server instances earlier because it's over my whole environment that this occurs, but since someone there told me to post it here, here goes:

We have a problem with the index.dat (*) of locked files by the winlogon.exe process preventing the profiles on the computer to be completely empty when you connect to the wide. Most of the time, after that the user is disconnected, we cannot not even manually delete this file until a few minutes after the disconnection. For example, a script to automatically delete these files during log off is unfortunately useless.

I searched on the internet and saw a lot of people with this or similar problems, but either there was no response or did not have solutions for our environment.

The problem occurs on all the BONES in our environment (Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 7) and all versions of IE (IE 6, IE 7 and IE 8).

    We tried the following:

-Create a profile completely (and of course delete all the computer itself)
    -Disable the anti-virus
-Using the latest version of UPHClean
-Specifically exclude folders from roaming profiles (even though they are by default excluded)

index.dat (*) is located in the following folders:
    -%USERPROFILE%\Cookies
    -%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\History\History.IE5\
    -%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\

    Kind regards

  • How can I prevent the Vista layout muted sound when I lock the system?

In the last days Vista began muted sound of my computer when I lock the system. It did not before. I don't understand how or why it started. This has caused some applications to stop using sound altogether when I unlock the system.  I don't want Vista to turn off sound when it is locked.  How it stop doing that?

Thanks for the reply.  I could solve the problem. I had a number of non-essential Windows updates that were listed in Windows Update.  I upgraded to MS Security Essentials, 2 security for MS Visual C++ and nVidia Display updates.  Also, I used Vista to find the updated drivers for one of my cards (Realtek HD Audio sound), and he said that my driver is up to date.  But I found a newer Realtek HD Audio driver from the Realtek site and updated with it.  I rebooted after the two installs (updates of Windows were in a facility) and tested my audio problem / locking and audio stayed on when the PC was blocked, that's what I wanted to like Vista of inhibition during the closure was causing problems with use of some software 3rd party audio after you have unlocked.

  • Windows Vista - stuck on logging off the screen

I have this same problem with Vista Home Premium that others have had.  When I tried to shut down the computer laptop last night, he is stuck at logging off-page - with the active circle always renewable.  After 20 minutes or so I was tired so close by using the power button.  This morning when I turned on the laptop, he went to the same page of disconnection. 3 hours later, it's still there!  My technical knowledge is, to say the least, "limited."  I tried to open safe restart mode and pressing F8, as suggested on other threads, but which didn't work - I can not go beyond the logging off the screen. How can I solve this?

I had the same problem... This method works.

Turn on the computer and when the screen shows recovery Windows press the space key.

You will be presented with 2 options - either to continue with system resume or to remove the Hibernation file and start with primer system - choose the second option - you're fixed!

  • Vista Home Premium: Startup time and office flaws often requiring the log off / log on to Correct

At all to being able to help solve these problems successfully:

When I bought my office, it came preloaded with Win XP (a FANATASTIC/s o!) with an installation disc free for Vista Home Premium. I have installed Vista until recently due to support XP being more available.

Problems currently on a regular basis (every reboot) are:

    (1) long startup (sometimes nearly 10 minutes)

    (2) the "Blacktop" (AERO) Vista appears generally "gray" (like Win Classic) but with VERY little
Services (icons missing, unable to run diagnostic programs, etc.).

In this situation, I usually 'Log Off' and 'Connect' again and it fixes the problem-"bitumen".
is back with the functions of the al. Despite this, I'll restart desktop using Services.msc. for all the functions

    are available.

    System information:

    (A) AMD 64 Athlon 3500 + (2.20 GHz)
    (B) 3.00 GB RAM
    (C) Vista 32 Bit (SP1 and SP2 installed (all updates current)
    (D) ATI Radeon XPress 200 Series (current driver)
    (E) all drivers are current (no changes required)
    (F) update BIOS (not not required)

    Note:

    (1) I am the user ONLY if the 'Default' options are regularly 'Log In' (as admin) - no guest accounts, etc.

    (2) I reduced some Desktop effects, which are not necessary (Menu Fade in and out, etc.) according to

instructions of MSFT community on how to do this and what is safe to disable. This helped a little
and I don't miss these features.

    (2) I deleted the "Windows.old" folder (as there was nothing to add to the Vista o/s).

    (3) I have NOT deleted the Partition which was part of the Win XP System Restore feature as)
"I don't know if I should as well as to think that I should keep this system offline and running XP).

    (4) I use a security program that securely wipes deleted data, cache password, etc..
Under Win XP, there was the possibility of "Protect Restore Points" (not required for Vista).
I do NOT use the option "delete shadow copies".

    My questions are:

    (A) what is the cause of the boot extended both office and how to tackle it successfully?

    (B) what is the problem with the desktop computer? I don't mind the Log in and out a lot but would like to get rid
me of this disadvantage.  I would like TO have the Vista boot WITHOUT having to Log in and out to

ensure that the AERO desktop is available and functional.

    (C) should I delete the files and restore Partition in Win XP? Is this the cause may be a conflict with
Vista? Also, please let know us if you think it would be better to keep these files available if no
    conflicts are possible or probable.

    (D) what is the path, the file name or folder (path if necessary) which governs the entire desktop
(startup, appearance, services, etc.). so I can enter my security software to exclude it from

Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

Incidentally - for all owners of Scanner Epson 1200U running Vista Service Pack 2:

YES! Successfully, you CAN install and run this scanner on Vista with the EPSON Twain 5.53 driver without twisting your registry, etc.

    Steps to follow:

    (1) download the file of v5.53 (10245.exe) driver TWAIN Epson

    2) extract to the folder (default location or a location of choice) and open the folder

    (3) right click on the "Setup.exe" file, go to properties and set the compatibility to Win XP SP-2

    (4) run the configuration file and wait for Windows Vista to give up the search on the web, ignore the 'warning' when he

comes to the top and connect the scanner to complete installation as you did under Win XP (or earlier versions)

NOTE: You will have to wait a long TIME for the next window appears once complete Vista

research on the web. It seems that the reason why a lot of Vista with the Epson 1200U Scanner users are

If that didn't help, then maybe you would not survive the installation completely, and you will have to reinstall vista with updates it's still once, don't worry, it happens to all peoples.

  • When I closed my Windows Vista computer, it reached the "Logging Off" screen and seems stuck.

Sporadically, when I turned off my computer, it reached the "Logging Off" screen and seems stuck.  I walked away from my computer for a returned more than an hour to find the screen always showing "Logging Off" with the small circle in the middle of spinning.  The only way I can close down is to do it manually and then when I use the computer at a later date, I ger the message that my computer has been shut down improperly and I should log in safe mode.  This happened only since I upgraded to Windows Vista.  My computer is a Toshiba laptop Satellite P105-S6147.

  • How to write to the system event log

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1

I run a daily work to create an image of my drive system hard. Repeatedly the work began and, due to a material error, be abandoned. In some cases (mostly), this will result in the image of yesterday being destroyed, leaving me with no viable image in case I need to restore. Although the reader is old enough (3 years), I'm not want to replace it, because I know no other activity that has had a problem with it and diagnoses reported no problem.

So I want to execute a batch file or a script before the regular daily system backup operation. The script would go to a SMART short self-test, and if no errors are reported, would signal the backup task to run. Conversely, if the self-test report any error, the script don't trigger not the backup task to run. I think I will need to write an entry in a kind of system event log, which would be defined in the trigger condition in the entrance to the Windows Task Scheduler for the backup task. If anyone can help with the details of how to write an entry to a log of system events?

Or, perhaps, there is better way to achieve what I want to do?

I guess that there is not a very high probability that the script will always truly detect a problem and prevent the last image of the destruction. But I tell myself that it is worth the effort.

    TIA

Assuming that smartctl generates an errorlevel nonzero in case it failed, the following script will work, as long as Smartctl is run under the same account as Casper.

I also made your script more transparent control setting. The if/then/else/if/then embedded instructions are perfect for computers, but are often misconstructed by the human mind. I'm a big believer in the KISS principle.

    OFF @echo
    FOR %%d Ko (% Date %) Today SET = %% A

    Set Flag="%temp%\Smartctl.log".
If exist % del % % flag flag
    If %ERRORLEVEL% is 0 echo. > Flag %

For the handshake to work, you must place the CASPER command inside a file of commands as follows:

    off @echo

    If exist c:\Casper\Casper.exe '% temp%\Smartctl.log '.

  • When a user logs off Windows 7 x 64 session, the rest can not access the internet until the restart network card

Hello! I found a problem with my system: when a user logs off Windows 7 x 64 session, the rest can not access the internet, until restarted network card. Reinstall NIC driver did not help. Problem appears on a built-in adapter, in the motherboard and a separate PCI card too.  Same router via its web interface is not accessible. Windows cannot automatically fix this problem after trying to diagnose a problem with his problem Diagnostic tool. After the diagnosis in the DETAILS window, MORE tests, it displays a message like this "computer remote can not receive a connection via the Internet (HTTP) Service Port". "Unplugging" a corresponding Local network connection and then reconnect solves the problem immediately. Switching between users, when two of them are connected do not cause this problem. Important: the problem occurs in the account of the user who was logged on the system FIRST after the PC was on, when the user disconnected on newspapers of a SECOND. If the SECOND user is logged in and the FIRST user disconnects, SECOND can still access the internet. It depends only on the sequence of the user's record, not on the particular user name. And one more interesting fact: after each user registered on and outside just for once, the problem seems to disappear until the PC is turned off and turn it back on!

    CPU: Intel Core i7 3770 K
    RAM: 8 GB
    OS: Windows 7 x 64

    Hi, Mahesh,

and thank you very much for your help! Update firmware driver and router LAN did not help me get rid of my problem, but greatly improved my experience of networking in general. Anti-virus software was not guilty, also, but! I found the "iControl" network software, installed as part of Sogiciel 'AI Suite II' (that came on the CD of motherboard ASUS driverssoftware), runnning and causing not only the problem mentioned above, but would also decrease upload speed up to 0.3 MB/s, when download passes to nearly 100 Mbps! Moreover, searching the Internet, I have found a lot of complaints about the behavior of this software, so that people watch you the occasional installation of this piece... sweet ;) As "iControl network" has been uninstalled (not only turned off in the settings of 'Ai Suite II'!), I'm totally happy with my system performance.

    Best regards
    Greg

  • Having a problem with Windows Live Mail lock up shortly after the start.

Having a problem with Windows Live Mail lock up shortly after the start. When I start the Task Manager to end the process, it sometimes freezes and the only way to solve the problem is to disconnect which forces the profile to close. Assuming a corrupted profile, I followed the instructions of Windows support to fix a corrupted profile and copied all the files except ntuser.*. When I try to paste them into the new user profile (all profiles are admins), I get the error message asking if I want to leave to proceed. When I click on continue, all THE files in the profile block "corrupt" to the new one, including ntuser.*, that I was not choosing. Why? If the files are rewritten empty? Tried 3 times, same result. Please notify.

I think I found it! I went in the Windows Live Forum and found a thread that looked like my problem. He suggested going to msconfig and take off Live Mail list start. I couldn't find it on the list, but the top element was "" default EXE"something of an unknown manufacturer. I took it out of the startup list, and Live Mail works again! Thanks for your help!
