  I look at if there is a way to create an ODBC connection to a remote server in OBIEE or a way to get the data repository by other means (perhaps OIC?). The OBIEE server is on a remote windows computer and I am trying to create an ODBC data source in my windows machine local with the drivers of the instant_client without success.

  Any help is greatly appreciated!

  I found that the problem was the odbc driver that I used. I had to use the one that is installed with the tool Oracle BI Admin of 32 bits (not DB client instant one).

  Problem: ODBC/OCI connectivity problem between OBIEE 11.1.1.6.2 BP1 server (64-bit) and OBIEE 11.1.1.6.2 machine local BP1 client (32-bit).
  
  We have an 11.1.1.6.2 BP1(64-bit) OBIEE Setup on a 'Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise' 64-bit machine.
  
  OBIEE dev team members have 32-bit local machines.
  OBIEE "Admin member of the team" (who will work on RPD) to OBIEE 11 g customer (BP1) installed on their * 32-bit local machine * (which is a common software for 32/64-bit).
  
  Now, two ODBC connections have been created on this local 32-bit Client computer, client 11g OBIEE installed on it.
  A "server BI driver" for the OBIEE server machine(64-bit) to open the RPD and other connection with "Oracle database driver" to connect to the Oracle 64-bit desktop databaseto import tables.
  
  With this configuration made, I am able to open the RPD in online mode and mode sampleapp existing related objects present in it.
  But when I try to import metadata to the client admin OBIEE tool using the BEAK or ODBC, it gives an error "connection failed!"
  
  I have the tns required in my tnsnames.ora file entry and I am able to connect to this database on the local client computer, using sqlplus.
  
  Kindly let me know if there are restrictions in the use of such a combination of settings for 32-bit machines and 64 bits for OBIEE 11.1.1.6.2 BP1 setup.
  If this isn't the case, so what are the steps to do the btw client 64 bit and 32 bit OBIEE OBIEE server configuration to create the table of import job.

  You can try using the OIC instead of ODBC connection type?
  Implementation of the native ODBC drivers is not always do the job.

  Also, make sure you have defined the TNS_ADMIN environment variable.

  You should not install client tools because they will be automatically installed w install the server. The 11g installation guide says "do not install client tools on the same computers that host your server instances Oracle Business Intelligence, client tools are already installed on these computers (as part of the installation of Oracle Business Intelligence)."

  If you want to kill the Server BI services often show like stop... and takes an eternity... make this (hard killing)

  Go to the Windows Task Manager - search NQSServer.exe - select it and click on end process... This will kill services. You can go into Services.msc and in fact see that the decision... message will be gone and the BI Services are actually arrested... If you have a similar problem with presentation Services, kill the "sawserver.exe" and "sawjavahojstsvc.exe"... two thesis are the processes of presentation server.

  This is probalbly missed her hidden space.

• OBIEE Server installation

  I already have OBIEE Plus Client installed on my machine, but now I want to install the server component so that I can deploy RPD and my changes

  I'm looking at this download downloads Oracle Business Intelligence (11.1.1.x) .

  What do I need to uninstall my my current client tool of OBIEE.  Ideally, I would like to not have only one

  I can just install a separate instance of OBIEE which will include both client and server and leave the existing one.

  I want to uninstall my current client tool only after that I managed to install the server.

  You can have your customer tool instance and it doesn't do anything with him. To install the version of the server, you must have the correct configuration and database instance(local/ network).

  You can find the prerequisites in the installation document. Just go through it and continue.

  Recently, we migrated our Oracle forms and reports application built in 6i to 11g. After going live for initials a few hours everything worked well. But when the number of report increased began to become unstable report server and reports take a long time. Sometimes, it crashes and then we had to restart the server to make it work.

  Using JDeveloper 11.1.1.6, I created an ADF application to test its integration with OBIEE 11.1.1.6. The request contains the jsf page that holds the OBIEE dashboard. Next, OBIEE, I created impersonate user. When I run this application on Weblogic Server built-in, it shows dashboard OBIEE perfectly. But when I deploy the application on weblogic OBIEE server, deployed with success but shows following error when we try to access the application via a URL.
  
  Unable to connect to the presentation BI server. Please ensure that it is running, configured correctly, and that the details of the connection in this application is accurate. Please check the log file for more details.
  
  (Http) connection works very well when check it out us inside the app. Can you please help how to solve this problem?

  I know that R Oracle now comes embedded with the OBIEE server, so that you can do things like trend lines, etc. on the graphs. However, I do not think that it has in fact installed / configured by default. It is futile to attempt a search on 'R' in the installation documentation. Has anyone found the instructions on how to install R on 12 c OBIEE servers?

  My question is perhaps stupid please help.

  I installed OBIEE 12 c. I was able to connect to oracle and create a new RPD. When I try to open it in online mode its asking about a configuration of ODBC driver. I tried to set up the connection to the OBIEE server for the local host. It shows 4 instances OBI OBI SERVER 1 2 and 3. Which should I use and what is the purpose of having these in there?

  Do you have an example of RPD content as we get for 11g - sampleapp. If it doesn't there please help me find a way to connect to my system. If this isn't the case, please correct me. Thank you.

  You must create a new system DSN to connect to the RPD in online mode.

  1. go in ODBC data sources.

  2. create a new system DSN

  3. Add the server of Oracle's BI.

  4 specify the name and the Server (hostname), and then click Next (http://hostname:9502/analytics/saw.dll?bieehome).

  5. Please provide the connection information and the port 9514 (default).

  6. click on finish.

  You should now be able to connect the RPD in online mode. It will be useful.

• Area permissions Admin subject OBIEE

  I'm trying to accomplish two things related to securing the subject box.  I'm not able to do either with the OBIEE Admin tool as I believe it should work but haven't found a long work around for one using the Administration manage the privileges in the responses.  Here are the two challenges:

  (1) cannot create the table based on security in the administration tools of OBIEE that works when it is deployed to the OBIEE server:

  Location: In the OBIEE administration tool I have:

  • Field 'ARG' who has the following permissions:
    • Authenticated user (defined as reading have no fault in option)
    • GRA Analytics ()set read/write)
    • GRA course Analytics (set read/write)
    • All other responsibilities are defined by default
  • Within the area of topic GRA, I have a table named 'Global' with the following permissions:
    • Authenticated user (defined as reading have no fault in option)
    • Analytics ARG (as default)
    • GRA course Analytics (set read/write)
    • All other responsibilities are defined by default
  • I have a user configuration with the responsibility of 'Analytics ARG' but NOT the responsibility of GRA Secure Analytics
  • The user is authenticated using LDAP by Siebel (where the responsibilities are assigned

  Desire:

  • When the user connects to answers and opens the topic GRA they would see all tables EXCEPT the global table

  Undesirable result:

  • The user is able to see the GRA area but also sees the global table
  • I find users in the groups of roles/catalog and they DO NOT have the role of GRA Secure Analytics ( do not have the role of GRA analytics.)

  Note: My second question which I included below directly impact on the question of the top of the page.

  • When the user logs in the responses with the analytical GRA or the responsibility of GRA Secure Analytics they see the ARG area, but if they don't have the responsibility that they don't see it.

  Problems with work around:

  • Makes assigning permissions in OBIEE Admin obsolete tool
  • Cannot assign table level permissions here and therefore cannot solve the first problem listed
  • Still not sure why to set permissions in the OBIEE administration tool are ignored

  If you could help me find a solution that gets the work tool OBIEE Admin permissions it would be greatly appreciated.

  I have the feeling you haven't exactly how these things works.

  In the authorization in the 'Authenticated users' administration tool means that every single user in turning to the stage of connection.

  "Read" is enough to see and use (scan on) an object.

  "Read/write" If you want to make updates to your data through OBIEE.

  (2) only members of the roles GRA Analytics & GRA Secure Analytics app must be able to see these topic: 'see' means hide or display in the front end, it's something you manage (as you did in the privileges to manage in the front-end server. If you want to restrict the user to use the subject box (this is what is permission to Admin tool) you will need to attach "Authenticated user" to "No access", all other roles 'Default' (= 'Access forbidden') with the exception of your 2 app Analytics ARG and ARG Secure Analytics roles for which you set the 'Read' permission

  (1) just use the same "recipe" (2): 'Authenticated user' to 'Access forbidden', GRA Analytics also on "Access forbidden" and only Through Secure analytics on 'reading '.

  Give it a try.

  Just keep in mind that Manage privileges works in a different way than the tool Admin permissions. Privileges to manage 'decline' is the highest permission. If an app role has 'decline' and another 'allow' and you are a member of both you will have the "decline" applied to you.

  In the Admin tool, it's the opposite: If one role of the app does not have 'access' and another 'read' and you are both Member you will have permission to 'read '.

  You have a mail server running on the same server as the OBIEE Server? Because that's what suggests the journal server it needs (localhost). Make sure that you have set a valid SMTP (mail) server and try again.
