ODBC 32-bit connection on Windows Server 64-bit Oracle 10 or 11

Hello
I have were implementation of VMware vCenter 4.1 (probably the product only well known and widely used with this deadly combination) and need to install Access ODBC for Oracle on the side of 32-bit Windows to install the Server Update Manager component, which is still a 32-bit application)

The problem with the Oracle configuration is that in no case I found that a 32-bit ODBC registered pilot after installation (of the 32-bit client and 64 database server). I tried a third-party driver for oracle (e.g., easysoft). They recorded in the 32-bit ODBC Manager, but they have never had a successful login.

Also if this requirement of vCenter is questionable (more debatable as this component 32 Setup is not allowed on a separate OS 32, not because she is separated, but because that is a 32 bit OS) I would make it work.

Could suggest a way to get this working?

Thank you

When you install the client software for Oracle on Windows (which is needed to support the ODBC as the seat of ODBC Oracle driver more than the native client software) driver ODBC is NOT installed by default. You need to go back and do a "custom" installation and select "Windows components".

  • Level broker for connections to windows server 2012

    Dear,

I would like to know if there is any risk that the upgrade of the OS of the server holding the broker for connections, web access and management of the profile of windows server 2008 R2 to windows server 2012 or more to enable support of HTML5 connector? Please tell us what is the scenario for these updates.

    Concerning

    Hi Habibgha,

Hoping to upgrade the OS on-site? It should work, but I don't know if it has been tested. Assuming that your infrastructure servers are virtualized, perhaps you could take a snapshot or clone this virtual machine and try in a lab environment?

Or you can work on a step-by-step approach, the first stage being, if your current farm is 8.0.1 you can upgrade all roles on your current server on 2008 R2 for vWorkspace 8.5, then build a new VM with 2012 R2 and install IIS and access to the Web of vWorkpace role. Create a new vWorkspace site web access on the new server just for the connector of HTML5.

    I hope that helps!

  • Cannot connect to Windows Server Core after installation with VMWorkstation

Yes, I chose not to add the ISO image later and now, I ran the installation a dozen times in all directions.

Whenever the installation finishes I'm not given the option to enter a password instead, I am presented with an 'Other' account with a password set on it already which is unknown to me.

Does anyone have this problem before?

Well, when you make a Windows Server 2008 Standard (Server Core Installation) it seems to be quite normal to the «Different user» login  What I did after clicking on 'Another user' I typed in Administrator and no password and then clicked on the round right arrow button on the screen, the next screen has warned "the password must be changed before logging on the first time." and then click OK.  In the next screen, I entered the password and confirm the new password as was then able to connect.

  • How to activate the Internet connection on Windows Server 2003 is installed in the virtual machine in VMware Workstation 8?

I have Windows Server 2003 is installed on a virtual machine in VMware Workstation 8. I need it to learn and practice the use of the Active Directory. I've also set up 3 Windows XP workstations connect to it, which means that they can communicate with Server 2003. What is lacking is the Internet connection on all of them. When I run ping 8.8.8.8 in one of these virtual machines, I get, 'Destination host unreachable.'

I'm not sure, what if the problem comes from the settings in Windows or the settings of the virtual machine.

    Can someone help me?

Thank you, guys. I was finally able to put in place. It was quite an ordeal to deal with IP addresses and virtual networks. Here's how I did (in the screenshots) in case someone else needs it.

(I also confess that it is perhaps one of the ways to implement. Maybe there is an easier way to do it with DHCP...)

    1. in your computer where is installed VMware Workstation 8 begin the "Virtual Network Editor." It is located in the folder of installation of VMware Workstation. And implement the network following (VMnet2 in my case):

2 then in VMware Workstation itself in the virtual machine when Windows Server 2003 is installed set up two network as connections:

This one is for external access to the Internet:

And this one for intranet communications AD:

    3. then in the machine virtual de Windows Server 2003 set up what follows for two network adapters:

    For Internet access:

Then, you need allow this connection to share:

And then for the ad access to workstations (ensure that the static IP address is in the range specified in the virtual network over VMnet2 network editor). I've also set up DNS to 127.0.0.1 because I installed on this Windows 2003 DNS server:

    4. from the Windows 2003 VM try ping 8.8.8.8. It should work now.

    5. go to each workstation, in my case, Windows XP, each in its own virtual machine and set up the network in the VMware Workstation as follows:

    6. then in the virtual machine, configure the network connection for Windows XP workstation. Don't forget to assign a new static IP address for each workstation, which not coinside with IP of the domain (this IP address must come from the range specified in the virtual network over VMnet2 network editor):

    7. try first ping the domain, in my case ping 192.168.237.128. And then Internet, ping 8.8.8.8. The two should work!

    Continue with steps [5-7].

    Hallo zusammen!

  • Windows Server 2008 R2 NFS mounted data store is read only

I've done this dozens of times in the past, but not with this exact combination successfully:

    ESX4 U1

Windows 2008 R2 Server Datacenter edition

NFS Server installed. TCP Version 3.

The normal configuration that worked in the past:

NTFS security - total control on ANONYMOUS logon, everyone control total

The local policies, network access: Let Everyone permissions apply to anonymous users (applied automatically by Windows)

    NFS Sharing - ANSI encoding, allow anonymous access - UID = - 2, GID = - 2

NFS share permissions - allow all THE MACHINES read-write, ROOT access

The data store adds OK and appears in the list of data on vClient stores and can be viewed or directly via a Console logon.

The problem is that the data store is read only! Nothing from ESX can write, delete, or update a folder or a file on the data store. Access Windows NTFS is very well.

This means also you cannot boot from say a CD ISO on the data store, or create a VMDK guest virtual computer on the data store.

Given that I had zero problems with this in the past, when with the help of ESX3 or ESX4 connect to Windows Server 2003R2 or several NAS with NFS devices supported I think Windows 2008R2?

Has anyone seen anything like this before?

I use it currently; It works fine, but it's the way that you configure the windows nfs export without having to use a mapping service (see images)

Also, be aware that Windows System Cache is a bit less efficient than linux (but that's ok) you just need to add additional RAM at least 16 GB for the data store busy.

I also recommend refining delays in setting up nfs for each virtual machine host:

    NFS. HeartbeatFrequency = 10

    NFS. HeartbeatFailures = 5

And on windows change the properties of the NFS server in the locking tab

    customer collection lock wait 5
