Office 2016 and El Capitan

Hello world:

I have a mini mac end of 2012, the intel core i7 to 2.3 Ghz with 16gig of ram.

I'm running OS X 10.11.3.

I currently have Office 2011.

Especially, it is ok, but I noticed a few things here & there to the word & PPT especially since Microsoft has not wanted to include in the Mac version (go figure).

In any case, for reasons to stay up-to-date with changes etc, I am considering buying the Office 2016 Home/Microsoft Office Student version. [absolutely not interested in 365].  That is the question... I had read here & there that it was high time pips between Office 2016 and El Capitan...

All this is in the past now? I'd be interested to hear users who run Office 2016 House/student on a system of El Capitan.

Thank you!

T.M.

First, Office 365 is just a subscription service. All subscriber Office 365 is running the same version of Office as a Subscriber (although they have early access to the latest versions), so this isn't a problem.

I use Office 2016 in my iMac and MacBook Pro, two of them with OS X El Capitan, and it works without any problem. These compatibility issues with OS X El Capitan were supposedly fixed with OS X 10.11.1 update.

  • Someone had experience with MS Office 2016 and El Capitan?

I was wondering if anyone has used Microsoft Office 2016 for Mac with OS 10.11.5 for awhile, especially Word?

I just finished setting up a new of the retina end 2015 13 "Macbook Pro.  I used Office 2004 and 2008 on my old Macbook (early 2006, OS 10.6.8).)  I'm a writer, so I use especially Word and Entourage for email. (I kept 2004 because I had a lot of trouble with the Word 2008 .docx files in Snow Leopard and 2004 .doc files compatibility seem to crash less often, although the MS told me that 2004 theoretically will not work with Snow Leopard).

Have been planning to shell out for 2016 Office for Mac, I am dreading out of it because I know from experience that things are never perfectly with any part of the office and there is always a learning curve.  So today I discovered that the resolution of a problem with Apple Care that Word 2008, who immigrated in my new computer with all the rest, can always open old Word files.  So even though I'm assuming that I couldn't go back to work until I installed Office 2016, it seems I can, which is good because I have a date limit.

However, I am uncomfortable to work in Word 2008.  I need to decide whether to risk losing data (I have no reason to believe that Word suddenly remembered how to do automatic recovery or figure out how not to crash OS 10.11.5; probably the contrary) or install Office 2016 and spend a week learning to work in it. Questions:

    1. those who have Office 2008 for Mac tried using Word 2008 for Mac OS 10.11.5? It crash a lot?  Forget all about Auto Recovery etc. ? Or has it been pretty smooth sailing?

2 anyone used Word in OS 10.11.5 a few months, and how it you please?  I know that 2016 Office for Mac had a lot of glitches when it first came out in 2015 for use in El Capitan, although I read that those who have been fixed.  If you use Word a lot, do you think that it works as it is supposed to?

3 how easy or problematic has find you the transition from Word 2008 for Mac-2016 of the word?

Thank you very much in advance for any advice about all this - much appreciated!

I use Office for Mac 2016 and have found no problem - but I'm not a heavy user and did not use from 2008. My main reason for the assignment is to say that you can also get feedback from the Community for Office for Mac forum: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/mac

  • Office 2016 on El Capitan: error report Microsoft that closes unexpectedly

For my Office 2016 applications on the latest version of Mac OS X (10.11.4) through my subscription to Office 365, I encounter the error, 'Microsoft Error Reporting close unexpectedly,' launching applications in normal mode.  I can, however, open Office applications in safe mode.  I have completely removed, re-installed, re-authorized and re-update of the office suite.  While in safe mode, I have disabled the Microsoft error report request (PRM 2.2.9) using the preferences pane.  (This application is located in/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/MERP2.0).  I'm running on an iMac of mid-2011.

I'm in a dead end total current office productivity.  Any idea on PRM and how to disable or secure it would be appreciated.

  • I've recently upgraded to Office 2016 and also got the latest version of Acrobat Pro, but the Acrobat option does not appear in the Office components. How to make this work?

I own Acrobat Pro and downloaded the latest version. I also improved my 2016 from office to office, but the Acrobat option does not appear in the Office components like previously in 2013 office. How can I get that back? I often secret several worksheets in PDF format and it is tedious to print them one at a time and then combine. I used to be able to select all the worksheets I wanted and combine them in one go.

    Hi steverobb,

Acrobat XI is not compatible with Office 2016 for the moment. Please wait for future updates.

  • Problem with PowerPoint (office 2011) and El Capitan

After the upgrade to El Capitan 10.11.6, 2011 PowerPoint desktop slideshow feature will not work. I tried this with existing PowerPoint files and a new one that I just created. This problem exists with both .ppt and .pptx file versions. Everyone knows about this problem? If so, what it is, was the solution?

You could try asking on a Microsoft PowerPoint for Mac forum: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/mac/forum/macpowerpoint

  • My computer is VERY slow after upgrade to El Capitan, and especially after I have downloaded MS Office 2016

After that I downloaded El Capitan, I was satisfied with the content and the speed for about a week. I did a clean install... After 2 weeks of use, I bought the MS Office 2016 and I think after that, I noticed a significant decrease in performance. I mean, like one where I want to throw my computer out the window about 100 times a day. Takes me 30 minutes to start the computer and perform a simple task like the connection to an account on the internet and missing his shot something. 30 minutes! A task that should take 30 seconds.

I don't know where is the problem. I have a late 2008 Macbook Alu 2.4 GHz, 8 GB Ram, disk SSD (130 GB of free space) and the rest is the default value. Is there a solution, suggestion? Is it fair that my computer can't take El Capitan even with the plug I have, or are at - it something else?

Thank you that I advance for any help, I'm desperate with her...

  • Is there a version of Acrobat that will work with the office 2016?

For the moment, I put my laptop upgraded and bought Office 2016 and Windows 10. I previously used Acrobat Pro XI with office 2013 and have enjoyed the use of the Acrobat tool bar/options in all Office programs. I understand that Acrobat Pro XI won't do this with office 2016. Is there a version of Acrobat that will fit with office 2016?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Leni,

2106 office is compatible with Adobe Acrobat DC, you can consult the list of compatibility: Compatible browsers and applications of PDFMaker

Your Acrobat Pro XI also works but Ribbon PDFMaker won't work with office applications.

    Kind regards

  • Microsoft Office Word 2016 and battery drain

I have a macbook with OS X El Capitan air and recently installed microsoft office 2016, noticing a huge difference in my battery life.

I use my macbook to 100% of load and have use of 2-3 days at the office until the next recharge... because the office installed 2016 that s is no longer possible, I have to recharge every night, and somedays carry my charger and keep once connected to continue working.

It seems that the issue is Word 2016, because excel and powerpoint work as usual; but since the word is the program used mostly I noticed the issue and he has seen a few posts about this in the internet.

Is it possible to get around this? Every walkthrough? Any bug fix any? Is anyone else noticing this same thing?

    Please answer.

You might have more luck to post your question to the forum of MacBook Air space or a space Microsoft forum. This forum area is for the 12 '' MacBook of the retina.

  • Office 2011 and compatibility printing El Capitan

I'm like El Capitan, but late last night, I tried to print a Word document for the first time since Windows Office 2011 and had problems - spinning beachball and then the paper closed.  A notice of 'error' came.  I couldn't print on the trendy hp1400 or the Deskjet wireless.  My wife has been able to print a focus on my hp1400.  We have 2 printers - a 1400 hp and a series of J611 Deskjet 3050 wireless [OCDFAE]. (MacBook Pro early 2011) 16 GB 1333 MHZ DDR3 OS X El Capitan 10.11.5 version) I've seen other reports of the same problem but have not found the solution.

More of the puzzle.  My wife also has a MacBook Pro with Office 2011 - Siena had the faulty motherboard which had to be replaced a year ago.  It has updated to El Capitan and can print on the wireless.

Contact Ms., Office 2011 prints normally (in general), when its not its a MS problem

  • Setup of Microsoft Office 2016

I was installing Microsoft Office 2016 on my Macbook Pro (mid-2010, processor 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, memory of 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3, 46,72 GB of storage, OS X El Capitan) when it froze at 'Execute the Scripts in package' I waited for about half an hour, and he has not yet changed. I tried to restart my computer, but that didn't work. I don't know what to do. Please help quickly, I need Office for my school work.

You must have the latest version of Mac OS X installed 10.11.6. Restart your Mac and then reinstall Office for Mac 2016. As soon as you get it installed, make sure that it contains the latest updates.

To 2016 Office, select the instructions section, select Office for home - install on a Mac.
