  So, I recently bought a new laptop for academic purposes. Back in September, I bought the HP Officejet 5740 because it could print wireless and can print double sided also.

  For the connectivity problem, I would say the Print and Scan doctor, you can download it from HP to http://www.hp.com/go/tools.

  For the duplex issue make sure the duplex module is selected.  Click on start, devices and printers, click with the right button on the Officejet 5740, select printer, device settings, both installable and set properties automatic duplexing on installed unit, apply, OK.

  There should be a setting for double-sided printing under a section called paper Saving Options in the preferences of the printer under the features tab.

  1. Click on the start menu.
  2. Click devices and printers.
  3. Right click on your printer.
  4. Select the print options.
  5. Click on the features tab.
  6. Paper saving Options section, click on the dropdown under double-sided printing and select automatic.
  7. Click on apply to save the changes.
  8. Click OK to close the window.
  9. Try to print.

  That should be all you need to do to activate automatic duplex printing.  Let me know what happens.

  When I bought my Officejet 7310xi and installed on my Windows XP desktop PC it worked fine print double-sided documents automatically. I recently bought a new desktop PC with Windows 8 and improved to 8.1 Windows and downloaded and installed the Officejet software drivers from the HP download site. But now not printed double-sided documents AUTOMATICALLY - when this option is selected, I get a pop up screen telling me to remove the documents from the output tray, turn around, and then reinsert them into the feeder, that is, that it acts as if I asked for MANUAL duplex printing.

  Thank you very much for this information.  Welcome to the forums.  Have you tried using another browser?  Like, if you use Internet Explorer from now (blue e icon), try Google Chrome or Firefox or vice versa.  So it is rare that you get a problem where you cannot print from the internet it is likely an internet option.  You can go to tools > > Internet Options > > and see what your security settings are defined on (they are maybe too high).

  You can also click on the button "print...". "and see which printer is trying to print or to search for error messages.

  Once again, this is general advice only.  If you would like more information, I have to know the name of the web browser you are using (IE10, Chrome, Firefox, etc.) just so I can give you more details because I'm always happy to help you.

  My Officejet 4630 is 6 months old. I bought it when my previous HP printer (which was more than 2 years) stopped printing black ink. This printer is doing the same thing. I searched the forums and the internet for a solution, nothing works.

  I just changed the black ink cartridge today because he missed. I put in a geniune, brand new, HP black ink cartridge. Print the page alignment and the black ink was very uneven/faded.   I have exhausted the alignment and clean the print head options with no fix. However, I found a page on HP (a little hidden and I can not find yet) who said to get out the black cartridge and place the face upward all night. I did that last night, put in this morning and boom, new black ink printing!

  I followed all steps successfully... but it has not solved the problem! I got instant but exhausted ink cartridges my pocket money I got a large print job. I bought a larger and now have encountered this problem. I installed the 'new' printer according to the instructions, but it is still saying it needs to update and then just does nothing.

  Another office on the same network has an Epson 1400 that I use sometimes (but not always): it prints the page very well, every time, from the same computer on the same network.

  I have available for download page, if someone wants to help you determine if this is my system compared to the printer.

  Which is a good new that the printer is not the cause of the problem with the exception that now there are new questions you will need to isolate. It is possible that Adobe or something in the operating system on your computer contributes to this problem. Good luck to try to isolate the cause. You can try to uninstall the printer and then reinstall with the current software of the Web site. This can come back to the question on your computer.   1. open Control Panel

  2. click on uninstall a program

  3 uninstall Officejet 8500 from the list

  4 restart your computer

  5. download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player

  Thank you for the update.  It is strange that these paper sizes are not appear.  This is probably due to a conflict between software driver.  The next step, I would recommend is to swap to a different driver such as the Deskjet 9800 driver who also has these available paper sizes.  For more information about how to exchange for another pilot, please click here.

  My printer does not print anything in black. I replaced the cartridge black and tried everything to troubleshoot print quality and troubleshooting blank pages printed without result.

  I try again because I don't want to send to the printer back: my PC, Windows 7 Home Premium, 8 GB RAM, knows that the printer is there but does not print to it. In, for example, Word, the printer appears as a loan, based on printing seems to work when the dialog is showing which pages are printed, but in fact, nothing comes out.   Just bought a C410a and installed. It can reach all my computers, but when the computer Mac laptop, I can't make changes to the configuration of the printer.   OK, when you start a print job (file > print or cmd - P), on the resulting window to ensure that the arrow next to the name of the printer is oriented upward.  If this is not the case, click it.

  Now, in the drop-down, choose paper Type/quality.

  I bought the 7313 while working in Abu Dhabi.  It worked great, but suddenly won't print duplex.  I am running Windows 7 Professional.  My concern to uninstall the software and the download again is that it will cause an error with the printer cartridges.  When I got back to the Canada I had to spend 2 hours on the phone with HP for re - program the printer to take number of North American ink cartridge.

  Thank you.  Yesterday, I ran the doctor to print HP who finds an update was necessary.  The update fixed duplex printing and don't mess with my cartridge types.  So problem solved!
