Old Sony TRV240 camcorder video transfer

Greetings!  10 years ago, I was quite handy with first and abandoned the hobby when life got in the way.  I'm ready to jump in now it, but I'm still feeling like a complete newb.  I have a few questions that are very basic, no doubt please bare with me.

I have an old Sony DCR-TRV240 Ditial camcorder that records on a digital tape.  I have a lot of old images on those tapes I want to transfer them to a PC.  I intend to buy the latest version of first to edit the images once it is discharged.  The problem is 10 years of memories erased the process of transfer of my head and I don't completely remember how I moved the video a computer in the past.  Will be first built off of the transfer case on these old devices, or I have to find a solution from Sony to get the video on the computer first?  I have several ports on this thing, but lost the cables, so I'll start looking for replacements.  He got what Sony calls I.Link port to transfer to a computer I thought I remembered as firewire, but I see no mention of firewire in the manual.  This port will work with first or is it an exclusive deal for Sony?  It also has s-video and analog video output, but I guess I lose quality with these right?

Here is a picture of the ports.  Thanks for any help you guys can give me!

  • importing video from an old sony dv camcorder

    Hi all

I have a XPS8700 on 8.1 and you want to import video from my old digital Handycam from Sony DCR TRV12E.

Camcorder has both a usb port and an I.Link port. I learned that the camera is not supported under 8.1 with respect to the usb.

Can we say with certainty if I can use the iLink. My understanding is that the iLink is simply a Firewire 1394 port has so if I buy a PCI-E card (e.g. SYBA PEX30001) it will work for me?

    Any suggestions / ideas appreciated,.

    Thank you

    George.

It needs drivers of Sony to be recognized. You must look for the Sony support site help or drivers updated. Here's what I found:

    www.sony.co.uk/.../DCR-TRV12E

Try a diff for the import application. See suggestions from Sony.

  • Setting of an old Sony Handycam Video 8

I have this old Sony Handycam Video 8 1990, I remember playing with as a kid. And I still remember worked up to a point where it just wouldn't read videos (for no reason) when I turn it on the black player a few trips and none of the playback buttons work (except eject) it charges thin strips and I even clicked on file and it worked (he was shooting and not errors) I plug into my TV (camera mode works it shows on the TV) but the player is not at all. Someone please help

    Hi iLeet,

From your description of the problem, it seems that the leader of band and record head seems to be the problem, the internal switches also seem to have malfunctioned. This unit would need to service; However, since it is a very old camcorder, we recommend you to buy a new camcorder with advanced features rather than fix it.

    Hello

Follow the steps mentioned below to move video files from the camcorder to the computer.

    (1) turn off the camcorder before connecting it to your PC via the included USB port.

    (2) turn on the camcorder and open the articulated screen. Select USB screen. Tap on computer on the screen.

    (3) double-click on the icon my computer on the desktop of your PC. The my computer window opens to reveal the camcorder as a new storage device. If the camcorder is does not appear as an icon, try it turn on and off and on the flip-out computer selection screen once more.

    (4) double click on the icon of camcorder to open it. A list of recorded videos. Click on the video you want to transfer.

    (5) press on the Ctrl and C keys to copy the video.

I discovered that my Creative Live! installation caused a bluescreen drivers (LeAPC_INDEX_MISMATCHErreur) when you try to access mstape.sys from (in my case) the Sony HDR - FX1 (Sony DV) or Microsoft DV.  My machine has Windows 7 x 64, 8 GB RAM, processor AMD X 6.

After I uninstalled the Creative Live! software everything works perfectly!

So, I see that your PC has "Creative Live!" Power stations "installed on it;  my suggestion is to uninstall this application, restart and try again.

For info. I also switched to the 1394 "native" driver for my NEC firewire adapter.

  • I have a creative cloud license installed on an old mac, how can I transfer it to a new machine?

    Hello everyone,

I have a creative cloud license installed on an old mac, how can I transfer it to a new machine?

    Hello Claudio,.

Adobe explained here, in this way: https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activate-deactivate-products.html > disable an app > one license for Adobe software allows you to install an application on two computers.

Better you charge down from a trial version of Adobe server and change it after that in a "real" version

If you do not need your 'old' computer, you should really disable. However, it is not necessary.

Do not use any version of first

There are conversion devices that connect to a Ribbon camera and a USB port, but be VERY CAREFUL that any combination of device/software that you find will create a file that is compatible with the first... DV AVI type 2 is the best, but the other codecs CAN work... I can't give advice on what combination of device/software to buy

  • Camcorder to transfer the tapes video 8mm Hi8 to DVD

    Hello
What best models of camcorder Hi8 CCD - TRV or Hi8 DCR - TRV (stereo) can use to transfer on several tapes DVD video 8mm Hi8 recorded in a Hi8 CCD-TR805? I hope that your quick help. Thank you.

None of the older Hi8 range products from Sony, the two camcorders or stand-alone bridges should do a great job. However, if your original camcorder is in good working order, you should be able to do a direct transfer in real time without having to buy an additional playback equipment.

Any camcorder without a USB output or i-Link can be connected via RCA video and audio of the catch to a card entry TV capture on your computer. You can save the result in real-time and then create DVD with the software on your computer. You can also use a DVD as the VRD - MC6 DVDirect recorder to record output directly to a DVD without a computer.
