On the output not an option at the end of quiz question slide?

I would like to show a slide between quiz questions - to add further explanation to the answer. I thought I could jump to slide out, show the extra slide and jump in when.  But leaving is grayed out and allow me to use it.

What I am doing wrong?  What is a 'feature' of Captivate 5?

Thank you

Hi CindieG,

'Disbled 'OnSlide Exit' action' for a question slide is 'designed '. The only way to leave a question slide is to 'Submit' the slide with correct/false answers; and it executes the actions of success/failure as a result.

Thank you

nsukumar.

  • "Continue" button at the end of quiz

    Hello

I have a quiz 8 question 8 Captivate, followed by an end of quiz/results screen, followed by an end of course screen (which States just "all right, you have completed the course").

A learner must achieve 100% to pass the test. The "Retake quiz" button works correctly and displays only when the learner makes less than 100%.

I have problems with the button 'Continue' however. My two questions are:

    1. the button 'Continue' is currently visible at the end of the quiz regardless of score. Is it possible to hide the button 'Continue' if the learner has not passed the quiz?

2 in both cases (vs not passed the test by the way), I have to click on the button "Continue" twice to progress to the last slide - obviously, I just want to the learner to have this click once. No idea what could happen here? Screenshot of the chronology is less (perhaps the break at the end is causing issues, but I don't know how to remove it.)

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

You have changed the default setting of the slide to score, because normally the suspension point is 1.5secs and in your screenshot, it has been moved to the end of the slide that is not a good idea. The button continue will launch the actions that you have configured in the preferences of pass/fail Quiz, and having such a break so close to the end can cause problems. I wonder if you have made other changes to the normal configuration of the Score slide, such as the removal of the built-in objects (those that have no separate timeline)?  More information about the default setting:

It is not normal to have to click twice, but your question about the "withdrawal of this break" proves to me that you are totally unaware of the design of the slide in score, why I created these two articles.

  • Re-insert the 8 Captivate quiz results slide

I created a course of six modules, which all have a short quiz at the end. During the preview of the project with the project manager, quiz slides do not move forward in the preview of the course (and no more than the bar room). I had to go and remove the quiz slides and slides of results in order to highlight the entire course of my manager.

Now that I'm trying to work on game shows, I am able to insert question slides but not the results slides that I would appear at the end of each short quiz.  This could be a framework global quiz I should change? Is there a way I can reset the quiz in the course and start from the beginning (with slides of results displayed)?

I realize it's probably 101 stuff for everything that you users of Captivate veterans, but please bear with me... I am a newbie to Captivate.

Thanks in advance for your ideas!

I am little confused: you can have only a single slide quiz and 01:20 in a CP-file (requirement of SCORM) and you seem to talk about several slides of results?  That should mean that you have created custom intermediate score slides as I explained here: Intermediate Score slides - Captivate blog

Or each module in a separate cptx file? The slide of score will not be deleted at all, it's just hidden. You can make it visible again using preferences, settings, "Score at the end of the Quiz Show" Quiz

Regarding the reset of the questions that is possible using the recovery button. Return to the user will be sent to the first slide question or being marked. This means that you will have to provide more than 1 attempt on Quiz level. More information about the slide in question/score:

  • students unable to enter the answers to quiz questions

I launched our first class and coming up on a problem that I have not met that we tested the course.

I created the course in Captivate 5.

All our learners use their computers to complete the statement, and I have no control on what equipment they use.

A couple reported that they are unable to enter the answers to the quiz question. For example, it will not even let click the buttons for the multiple choice answers. Those who reported the issue seem to have older computers (about 5 years), but say that they have updated to the new version of flash player.

We tested the module on some newer computers, and we didn't have this particular problem at all.

What could cause such a problem?

    Sanna

    Sanna,

He need to sit and actually watch users who claim to have these problems.  It is likely that what they complain about could be the result of user error.  For example, they may have left the scope of quiz at some point after entering the quiz (maybe to dive towards the content of the slides and check one) that would then lock up their quiz slides and avoid answering.   If you look at exactly what they're doing, then you will know if yes or not it's really a fault in your course or not.

Just to check if the issue is reached scope quiz, make sure you move backward is disabled in the quiz settings.  Which should prevent users from being able to jump away from quiz easily.  See if your problems disappear or are significantly reduced.

  • New to Captivate quiz question slide only to display the gray

I use the version of Captivate 5.5 test. I have experimented with the creation of projects and additions slides, and everything works until I try to create a Quiz. Although the question slides are inserted, all the slides are empty except for a gray rectangular area on each slide of the question; no example of text or anything (which is what I was expecting, based on the tutorials I've read). When I double-click the gray area, nothing happens. The property Quix box identifies the slide such as appropriate (e.g., Multiple choice questions) question, but there is no way to add a real question or answers to the slide. Anyone know what is happening?

FYI - I restarted my computer and now the Quiz slides are working.

  • You can delete the corresponding lines of the quiz question slide?

I have two slides corresponding quiz with eight corresponding items on each slide. The user selects the corresponding answers, the lines drawn by the question to answer Captivate gets really annoying. At the time that all eight matches are completed, the slide is very busy with crossing lines.

Is there a way to disable this feature layout of Captivate? I would have preferred that the lines appear not at all.

Thanks for any help or suggestion, you can provide!

If you have Captivate 6.1 then you can use the Drag and Drop Wizard corresponding custom interactive slides and you will not the lines in the output and you can also include the slide in the quiz and allow Drag and Drop properties declaration.

  • Advanced actions do not acknowledge the points total quiz

Hello - I have a tip action put on the quiz results slide. The tip action, says that, if QuizInfoTotalQuizPoints is greater than or equal to 91 (literal), then a flash animnation file times past, otherwise a fail animation flash file plays.

The message "failure" at the bottom of the result slide is correct, but plays the animation flash 'pass' even if the points are less than 91. Anyone know why the advanced actions isn't grateful points total quiz? Strangely enough, I thought I had tested some time back and it worked, but it does not work now.

    Thank you!

Your problem may be with the variable you chose to use in your condition.  This often happens because Description fields on the Captivate system variables are sorely lacking sometimes in telling you exactly what makes the variable.  They should be much more useful and unambiguous, but software developers tend to think ' everyone knows that... ". "and they hate wrote something else code, so they are famous for having left the details.

My suspicion is that cpQuizInfoTotalQuizPoints is NOT the total number of quiz points scored by the learner.  This is the total number of available points to be noted in the quiz (i.e. in all quiz question slides).  Also note the variable cpQuizInfoTotalProjectPoints, which corresponds to the total number of points that could be marked across all interactions in the project, including the interactive objects on slides no quiz.

The variable cpQuizInfoPointsscored is the one who would tell you the number of points that the learner really marked.  But go with this variable would mean that you need to update your advanced Action State each time change the number of points of your lesson. I would be much easier to simply use cpQuizInfoPassFail and search for a 0 or 1 to see if the user has failed (0) or (1) lesson.

Try changing the variable in your condition and then see if things improve.

  • Before doing the test and quiz have the same behavior

I have a pre-test and a quiz.  Questions before the test and quiz questions are part of the same quiz experience.  Must be like that for technical reasons, can't just be quiz.

    Before the test

    1st quarter

    Q2

    Q3

    SCORE = A

    Quiz

    Q4

    Q6

    Q6

    = SCORE B

Col requires pretest 2/3 and 2/3 for the quiz.

How can I do review quiz include pre-test contiguos review and leave completely backwards and navigation in the consideration of all questions before the test and quiz in front?

What you see is simply a limitation of what can make the current application.

When Adobe added the feature of pre-test, it don't was NOT set up to do exactly what you are wanting.  It is not get included in the Quiz review mode.  There is nothing you can really do about it.

My suggestion would be getting your first questions included in review Quiz (because they are all part of the same quiz) but as I have already said a few times, Captivate only sees a quiz.

If you don't like the way it works, feel free to record an enhancement request and wait a few versions.  You can get lucky.

  • The title of the TOC for the random question slides

I want to create a quiz that randomly pulls a pool of questions.  I think I know how to do that (rightly), but when I do, the table of contents is only show (title "Slide") the name/title of the question slide to chance itself, which is not really give any useful information.  I wonder if there is a way to show rather the title of the question which is selected (and present) of the random question slide.  This, in my opinion, would be much more useful to users taking the quiz.  Is there a known way to get there?  Thank you!

    Capture.PNG

Project files cannot be attached to these messages in the forum.

Lilybiri has already answered your question.  The table of contents only shows the name of the random Question slide and can't give you the name of the slide of the random quiz question slide that is picked up from the Question pool when running dynamically.

Essentially the Random Question slide is just a placeholder.

However, I think that your idea of being able to have the selected slide display its name in the table of contents if you wish has some merit.  Then I suggest that you connect to an enhancement with Adobe for this request.  You never know...

  • See the sum of subset question quiz on a blade of results

I want to show the sum of part only of scores question quiz on a blade of results.

I want to still follow and record the scores of questions (acting as a series of tests), but show that the score some of these question marks (final quiz) to the user. I read these steps http://blog.lilybiri.com/intermediate-score-slides but I only need a subset. I'm not getting any summing the scores showing the partition on the slide.

    Any suggestions welcome... Michelle

Even if you need only a subset, the workflow is quite similar. I would create a variable used to store the total score for the questions in this subset. After each question to consider, you add the value of the variable cpQuizInfoLastSlidePointsscored of system to the user variable. At the end of these questions (don't forget the last of them), you will have the total score for this subset in this user variable.

  • No count of test questions to the end of course quiz

I use 8 Captivate. I have a couple of question slides I inserted just to review, but I don't want their cash for the quiz at the end, because they are just review and not be marked. I had issues "survey" thinking that might do the trick but when I created the final quiz that start with question 3 of 8. Is there a way to have just the review questions and ask them to not be marked not or 'count' to the final quiz at the end of the course?

Some system quizzing variables will include all of the marked objects and question slides. Even if some question slides are not included in the total. I'm sorry, but you will need to create a custom progress indicator, here's a blog where I explained how:

  • Reduce or eliminate the pause at the end of the TTS

I use TTS to convert notes Cap 6. It seems that there is just less than one second pause or silence at the end of the audio generated without worrying if I finish notes with no signs of punctuation or a comma or a period. I have a few TTS that spans multiple slides, so I want to end this break to be considerably reduced. I could edit audio for each slide, but that seems like a lot of extra work. Is there a setting somewhere to fix this? I use MS David as the agent of the word, if that matters.

Here you can see the end pause of several slides:

Sorry, but that use another agent of speech or just edit the silence on each clip.  That's all.

  • using advanced actions to make a button appear at the end of my project - HELP

I'm working to build a set of advanced actions, which allow a user display the buttons at the end of the test based on the responses of the text entry box. The plan that I've discovered so far is:

    1. on the slide after the TEB, I have a conditional action that uses IF cpQuizInfoLastSlidePointScored = 1, and THEN assign the Variable 1 to 1 (the variable is set to 0)

    2. at the end of the test, I have an advance action that declares the variable = 1 IF THEN hide button (the button says they did hide the bad action means they did as the correct input) ELSE view button

I have a total of 23 of these interactions TEB

Everything works perfectly if each answer is correct

Everything works perfectly if each answer is wrong

Arrises them problem when alone or some answers are wrong. When that happens, no buttons appear.

I built a debug slide and be positive for each Variable, I built received the first interaction.

so, what could I have done wrong on my process? Any help would be appreciated.

Always nice to hear from someone who likes my book.

A thing, you have not made it clear to me yet.  You say that you are running the first action 'at the entrance to the next slide. I guess you mean using the event YOU enter the quiz question slide slide follows?

Then, you mention that "at the end of the process," you have a blank slide that performs the final conditional action.  I assume that you mean that you use the event YOU enter Slide for the Quiz results slide where your buttons is displayed?  You won't be able to perform actions SHOW/HIDE objects on slides other than the one where the action is executed.

My personal preference to set the variables on each quiz slide would be to use the event on the success of the quiz slide just to set the variable directly instead of using a decision of conditional action block as you did. If your quiz questions are all together for a moment of success, then just using the action of success WE should have the same result, but it's just more direct and so less inclined to any question (for example if, for some reason, the system cpQuizInfo variable did not work, your event on success should always pulled).

In theory, your way (using the system variable) should work too, but sometimes if there are several ways to do something and your current path does not work, try them the other way around can get out you of trouble.

I guess that your final conditional action has something ELSE for each block of decision which SHOWS the button?

One thing that also that Lilybiri would probably say, that you are trying to rename all your blocks of decision in the last conditional action.  It could be one of the names of your decision blocks is originally a kind of conflict.  I noticed that you have a name of decision block with a punctuation of hash character.  Not a good idea.
