Onboard video Inspiron 660 supports two monitors?

Hello

I just got a new 660 Insipron and wasn't able to set up two monitors with the integrated video card. I have connected a monitor via the VGA to VGA-in output and the other by the HDMI to DVI-in via a converter. I can get video with output VGA or HDMI-out single, but not both. Is it because that the integrated video card do support a monitor at the same time? Thank you.

Hi Arborglen,

Welcome to the Dell Community.

I understand that you are however technically it is not possible to set up two monitors with the integrated video card. If you want to configure dual monitor with the computer, and then you add a graphics card with support dual monitor to get the functionality.

Answer please if you have any questions.

Thank you best regards &,.

  • The Pavilion p6120f supports two monitors?

I want to add a second monitor to the PC.  Is this possible and I have to buy a video card for that to happen?

    Hello

Integrated into your PC video card does not support two monitors, you have three choices:

Install a discrete videocard-> costs and better performance a little more

Use a USB video adapter-> less performance but costs less (USB to VGA or DVI)

USB Monitor connectable -> lower performance, is more expensive, but includes the monitor.

Video cards that work with the 300 Watt power supply in your PC.

    $50 - >NVIDIA GT 4309.6 Gbps - single slot width

    $65 - >NVIDIA GT 520 8 Gbps - single slot width

    $70 - > NVIDIA GT 430 22.4 GB/s - the single slot width

    $80 - >NVIDIA GT 44025.6 GB/s - single slot width

$110 - >NVIDIA GT 240 1 GB DDR5. 54.4 Gbps single slot width, this card does not support DirectX 11 which is eventually used in some of the latest PC games but it's a great performer.

My recommendation is to go with the video card.  Look at video cards above against your video port conditions.

    Hello

-Are you aware of any hardware / software changes on the computer prior to this question?

If the video card in your computer is compatible HDTV, it will probably be two or more video outputs. So, I suggest you to check if the graphics card supports two or more video outputs and check if it helps.

For the problem related to the outputs video more, I suggest to see the link below and check if the problem persists.
Work and play better with multiple monitors
In addition, see the article and check if that helps.

For the problem with the Audio, I also suggest speakers as audio device by default and check.

    a. click Start, type Sound in the box to start the search.
    b. click on his research at the top of the Start menu.
    c. click the read tab notice the check mark next to the default device. For most users, the default device is speakers. Make sure that your audio settings are configured as expected. Follow these steps:

    e. on the read tab, select the playback device, click set upand make sure that the configurations are set correctly.
    f. Select the audio device you want as default audio device, and then click on set default.

  • HP EliteBook 857w: docking station HP 90 w, supporting two monitors

I am currently working with an EliteBook 8570w on a 90w docking station.  I have an external monitor and the laptop lid open for a second, more small monitor.  I would plug a second external monitor and continue to use the laptop when the lid is open for e-mail.  I can't find a definitive answer on whether Yes or no this is possible and what is the best configuration to achieve the desired final result.  Right now, the external monitor is connected to the VGA port.  The second monitor has both DVI and VGA ports so I could continue the path with the cord or an adapter that would work best.  It is best to connect the second DVI or DisplayPort monitor on the docking station?  What installer, if necessary, would allow me to keep the 2 external screens and the open laptop monitor?

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello

Thanks for joining the Forums today!

While using your monitor 8570w, when it is connected to a docking station (we tested this using an advanced docking station) there are two valid configurations for three independent displays. You can connect two additional monitors through DVI or only a monitor via DVI and the other through display port. It's using the advanced docking station.

If one of your VGA monitors should still work the same as above.

Here is a link to an image of an adapter, you can use to connect via display port: http://img.misco.eu/resources/images/products//100/HWP/FH/FH973AT/FH973AT_6_1600x1600.jpg

  • 660 s dual monitor video card

I just bought an inspiron 660 s. I want to upgrade the video card that supports two monitors. Is this possible? After looking at the back, it's not like there is a lot of room, if necessary, for additional entries.

    Thanks for the help.

I just bought the EVGA Geforce GT Ref. 620 01 G-P3-2625-KR to Fry and it's the only one I found to date that mentions the support of Windows 8.

It comes with adapters for low profile and fits well into the case with the fan on the cooling holes in the case.

I have yet to get out the disc because it completely installed and same jump upward with a monitor on the start page and the other on the desktop as if he knew what I wanted.

I had trouble with the Dell 0JJ461 from my office replaced and found that it was simply not compatible with the 660.

I found on another forum a suggested list of cards, but most of them required to install Windows Vista 64 driver so when it says Windows 8, I'm excited and bought.

It was on sale under the proposed price while it was still a better deal.

My list was the following if you have trouble finding one I did.

Don't forget they all (except the 620) required Windows Vista 64-bit.

    ATI/AMD HD 5570 6570 5670 6670 7750 6450

    NVIDIA GT 430 460 620

  • a6040n desktop system - two monitors

I would like to install a graphics card dual monitor to HP Pavilion a6040n desktop.  Does anyone have a recommendation?  I tried a quality mid-range card, but it did not work (changed the bios to use PCI_E and disabled the embedded video.  Any suggestions or directions would be appreciated.

    DSLFAN, welcome to the forum.

The main problem you'll have is the power of the power supply unit (PSU).  It does not say in the specs, but I think it will be 250W or 300W.  If so, it is not enough power for a good mid-level video card that supports two monitors.  I normally recommend at least 500W to 550W.  That's enough to allow future improvements as well.  The main reason is that gives you more choices of cards.  When you install the video card, the embedded video should be disabled automatically.  It is not available when a card is installed.

I like XFX, BFG, EVGA, Sapphire and PNY in that order.  You should stay less than 9 "long.  This ensures the card to insert in space without problems.  At this point, my preference is the AMD/ATI cards.  They have their Catalyst Control Center Suite that allows you to control the speed of the fan and overclock the card if you wish.  Don't forget, more speed equals more heat.  The map in the link I provided is a good example of what you need.  It does not have the power, but it will be at least 400W.  Read the reviews to see what they have to say.

  • Two monitors with computer desktop Slimline?

    Hello

I want to set up two monitors with my HP Slimline.  Is this possible?  I know I have to change the graphics card to accommodate two cords.

    Slimline s5310f

    64 bit

    NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430

    LG E2360V LED monitor

    Hello

    You have options:

    1. install a video card that supports two monitors. -> the best performance option

    2. use a video USB adapter/converter.   -> What are your needs of video connection? VGA, DVI orHDMI

    3. use a USB attachable monitor such as this AOC 16 "monitor.

    Option #1.

Look here in HP Partsurfer for video cards that are used in the new Slimline models with a 220 Watt power supply.  These cards have been made specifically for the HP Slimline PC with a 220 watt power supply.

  • Choice of a model of desktop Inspiron for two monitors

I didn't keep on computer hardware for some time and I found myself completely confused now that I'm looking to choose a new system that will support two monitors. It seemed simple at first, but now I'm a little worried that I'm missing something.

    In any case...

I am looking to buy a desktop Inspiron model relatively inexpensive which allows two monitors. What should I look for to confirm the system that I'm looking will support two monitors? At first I thought that I would need to have a discreet graphics as opposed to something like the graphics card intel integrated, but some of the things I've seen seem to indicate the onboard graphics on some of the tips Intel will do what I need.

I would mainly use for extended desktop just to be able to open MS Excel on both screens, but sometimes I wish I could watch my DIRECTV on one of the monitors (probably by logging into my DIRECTV account, as I do sometimes on my laptop).

Hoping someone can give me an idea here.

    Thanks in advance!

No, I don't say that all Intel adapters will work. The link I gave was a particular model Inspiron. Apparently the web page changed, because when I went back to it, the page was different.

    You buy a system with a card video of at least one of the monitors. Or, if you really want a cheap system, you can buy one that has only the onboard video and then separately purchase a USB > {video) dongle where {video} matches at least one port on the second monitor, for example USB > HDMI.}

  • Quad dc5850 monitors: onboard video + video card

I have a HP AMD minitour dc5850 and want to connect 4 monitors.

I read here on the site of hp you can use the two onboard video (Dual DVI) and use an additional adapter (Dual DVI) to support a total of 4 (2 from dual onboard DVI) monitors and 2 double the graphics card DVI by activating the SurroundView in F10 setup.

    HP lists these ATI cards:

    • Map chart PCIe ATI Radeon X 1300 Pro (256 MB DH) - AH050AA (total four screens with edge)

    • ATI Radeon HD 2400XT (256 MB DH) PCIe-KD060AA graphics card (total four screens with edge)

    • Graphics ATI Radeon HD 3650 (512 MB DH) PCIe x 16-KS505AA (total four screens with edge)

Am I limited to these cards, or can I use a newer 'ATI' dual DVI PCI-e x 16 card work with the video embedded?

    Hello

Be careful with the latest AMD graphics cards as they do not work on your PC.  Find out what the return policy is before you buy.

I usually like to suggest older NVIDIA cards with a few exceptions, as they should have been disclosed to provide better compatibility with older PCs.  However, the old NVIDIA cards support two monitors. Some of the old AMD cards have compatibility issues in some of the HP PC.
