It helps those answering questions if you provide:

What version of windows (32-bit or 64-bit) and service pack level.

you use what browser (exact version).

What application or antivirus security suite is installed and your current subscription?

    What third-party firewall

What anti-malware software can be installed.

What updates you trying to install?

    0 x 80070424 ERROR_SERVICE_DOES_NOT_EXIST BITS service is removed.

80070424 means generally that the BITS service (required by Windows Update) is not running.

After that the software (MBAM) is updated, it is advisable to analysis of the system in normal Mode.

  • Vista infected with the Vundo Virus, and you're screwed. Can anyone help?

Recently, my computer has been infected with the Vundo Virus, so I tried to remove it. Somehow, everything I tried just did worse and nothing does not. Finally, he said that my computer has an unauthorized change. I clicked on the link and tried to validate, and the BSOD popped up. Then when I loaded my computer again, I tried again and it says that it cannot validate. I had to go to safe mode with network to get on this page, and when I try to use the OneCare scanner, the page would not be responsible. I need help serious to this problem as soon as POSSIBLE.

PS My Windows Vista Home Basic is true because it is an OS disc that came with my Gateway ML3109.

    Please answer, Logan

At this time the the most intelligent thing to do is to backup your data on an external support (such as an external hard drive) and restore your computer as long as the plant. The machine is still infected and all that you have done to try to solve this made things only worse. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • Recommended stuff please?

What are recommended online scans and recommended free anti-virus/spyware/malware programs? (preferably recommend scans online please. I don't have a lot of space on my computer and don't bother recommend kaspersky coz, I know that it is not available)

ESET is already installed in your PC is not online scanner and will know your PC and put with few exceptions. But MSE is totally new for your system more full scan will scan everything (from registry signle of large file). As I said if you scan with no matter what scanner online (full scan) you will see almost same result. It can also be another problem. Another online scanner could not remove your Malware or just you say that you have one, but OneCare will remove them. I suggest that take a look at http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/community/default.htm and discuss the issue with them.

They could be a problem with your PC and OneCare scanner online, I also suggest that contact Microsoft support for assistance.

    Hi spyman1871,

Try the checkdisk Defragmenter and disk running from the command prompt.

Step 1: Checkdisk to run as administrator command prompt

    To do:

    1. go to start and type cmd in the search box.

    2. right click on cmd in the list and select run as administrator.

    3. click on Yes in the user account control prompt.

    4. If you want to repair errors without scanning the volume for bad sectors, at the command prompt, type chkdsk volume: / f, and then press ENTER.

Note If one or more files on the hard disk are open, you will receive the following message is displayed:

Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. You want to schedule this volume to check the next time that the
    the system restarts? (Y/N).

Type there, and then press ENTER to schedule the disk check, and then restart your computer to start the disk check.

    5. to fix the errors, look for bad sectors and recover readable information, at the command prompt, type chkdsk volume:/rand press ENTER.

Step 2: Run the command prompt Disk Defragmenter:

To do this, type the following in the command prompt window.

    defrag c:-v,

where C is the drive letter. You can choose according to the reader like you would to run disk defragmentation.

Note: the command quick application shows no indication of progress, so be patient.

The Windows Live OneCare scanner cleaning will find and remove the invalid registry on your PC. Cleaning scan will check your registry and
Locate all items that can be deleted safely. You can then choose to delete all the items that the Analyzer detects or select the individual items for removal.
