Open INDD of Dropbox?

I store all of our files Dropbox cloud creatives. I can't open or view INDD files to iPad/iphone at all and may not know how to open INDD files (or HAVE) existing (not in the creative clouds) to model or draw. Any suggestions?

Adobe like Comp CC mobile apps are designed to take their Adobe Creative Cloud resources and no other services like Dropbox cloud. I'm afraid you'll have to change your workflow if you want to use them.

Also, you feel how these applications usually work. In particular, Comp CC does not open InDesign or Illustrator files. You create a layout (called a model) and that you are exporting to InDesign CC, CC Illustrator or Photoshop CC. This is a one-way process. You must have Comp CC and your desktop CC app has enacted the same Adobe ID.

  • Why can't I open INDD files using exactly the same InDesign CS6 product I've used to create them?

    I tried to modify the work sent by another designer. He sent me the INDD files (as part of the packages) but I could not open in my version of Windows of InDesign CS6. My computer told me that I had not any software installed that could open the file. While searching on the forums, I thought it could use InDesign CC, that for some reason any crazy I can't open INDD files created using the CC version and so I have to send him the IDML files. OK, fine, he sent me the IDML files.

    IDML files open correctly in my version of InDesign CS6. Large. They open in the form of documents not saved, so I save them as files InDesign CS6. OK, well. Except that I can't open files INDD, that I just created. Yet once, my computer tells me that I don't have any software installed that can open the file. But how can this be? I just create the files using this software!

    If I do a test. I can't open a file that I create from scratch? N ° it seems that I can't open INDD files in my version of Windows of InDesign CS6, even if I create them from scratch. Can anyone help?

    I found an answer here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2604646

    1. I opened Windows Explorer and went to tools >... Folder Options > File Types.
    2. I selected INDD and click Advanced.
    3. I chose the action open and press edit.
    4. I went to Adobe InDesign (for some reason any, that adobe does not appear in Program Files by default, but if I go to Program Files and then type Adobe in the zone file name and touch open then I can browse the Adobe programs).
    5. I chose InDesign and press open.
    6. Then back in the editing window of action, I added '%1' in the application used to perform action text box, so that all read: "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS6\InDesign.exe" '%1 '.
    7. I entered indesign in the Application text box and then click OK.
    8. InDesign CS6 will now open INDD files. Finally!
  • Script to open INDD files, run script and closing

    Hello, I'm looking for a script that will open a folder of Indesign files, open each one, run a selected script, and then close each file.

    Right now I use Batch convert script to convert INDD INDD and run the script in the meantime (so I delete the extra INDD file). But I'm trying to eliminate the element of conversion, just the script of this part.

  • Definition of InDesign CC as default program to open indd files

    I have CS6 and CC to inDesign.  I need to keep the CS6 for a plug-in that does not exist yet in CC.  indd files open with CS6 as a default, even if CC is open.  I tried to open it with functionality and look for the CC program, but when I click it, it does not recognize my computer as a possible opening to CC.  I uninstalled CS6 and CC are now available by default, but as soon as I put CS6 back on, no dice.  Any ideas?

    Windows tends to use the latest version installed by default. It is theoretically possible to hack the registry to change it, but I have never had luck using the file association that salah described.

    You could try to reinstall new CC so it becomes a last installed, or you can buy the Soxy Rorohiko.com plugin, and all your files ID will be oepn in the version they were saved to when you double-click.

  • Problem opening INDD CS5.5 CS3

    Hi all

    I have INDD an old (now defunct) computer files in InDesign CS3, I need to open.

    I'm doing it on my recent with Vista64 SP2 office machines and the new version of InDesign (5.5)

    The files get about 1/4th of the way through the dialog box "Data Conversion" box and the software crashes completely.  Must be killed to the task, not even the usual Vista 'aging' of the application, a complete block.

    Older files, made in CS2, open very well.

    I really need to get these documents.  I have more access to CS3.  The machine that made the CS3 files is now a doorstop.  Killed by lightning (literally, an increase in power).

    Any ideas?  I tried to delete the folder SING.  Everything else on the CS5.5 is fine, it opens other InDesign files I have and it works perfectly.  This is the trial version, and I'm going to buy, but now I need to get these records open as soon as possible.

    I'm willing to pay.  If someone can get my CS3 files opened successfully and has a PayPal account, I will send $25.  I have only 2 files which must be open/converted.

    Thanks for any help.

    Just need to download for you.

    I did .inx and checked that they open iin CS5 (No 5.5 on this particular machine). I suspect there's a bad link (and my bet would be one of the .eps files), but you won't know until you try on your side.

  • opening of Win Indd on MAC

    before you begin the technical things, it's my first day on mac. know nothing & confused with everything lol

    I did an indd Win Indesign CS 5.5 for digital publishing and now I somehow show Mac InDesign 7 (cs 5.5 for mac I think) for the final publication. prolem is, when I try to open indd file (victory cs5.5 update) mac 7 (updated) version and it fails to give an error with a list of plug-ins "not supported" any solution? I don't have the time to redo

    Post edited by: smshahriyar

    Version numbers are consistent between platforms. CS5 is 7.0 and CS5.5 is 7.5

    Looks like you have CS5 on your mac (7.0) and CS5.5 under Windows.

    CS5 can not read files CS5.5, that's your problem.

    Since CS5.5, exports the IDML file and CS5 will be able to read.

  • INDD opened without warning message

    Hello...

    Currently, I am working on a batch to open indd files in a folder. But these character set file and image link missing. Once the file is open, it will jump to the top of the warning window, and my script cannot close the file as well. Finally, it will rise an error due to the windows of warning is always open.

    Is there a method to disable the warning message?

    my code is something like:

    var myFolder = Folder("C:\\temp_indd");
    var myINDD = myFolder.getFiles("*.indd");
    for (f = 0; f < myINDD.length; f++) {
        app.open(myINDD[f]);
        do_something();
        myINDD[f].close();
    }

    Chris

    Set the level of user interaction to ignore every WARNING:

    // The script does not display any dialogs or alerts.
    app.scriptPreferences.userInteractionLevel = UserInteractionLevels.NEVER_INTERACT;

    and make sure that this reset after that your script is done - as otherwise, InDesign does not display alldialog boxes and alerts:

    // The script displays all dialogs and alerts.
    app.scriptPreferences.userInteractionLevel =
    UserInteractionLevels.INTERACT_WITH_ALL;

    even though the description says «The script...» ", this applies to the entire program, not only"the script ".

  • Cannot open file .indd suddenly!

    I have a large file that has been opened very well for weeks. It's 300 pages and an .indd file. I tried to open this file backup copies and zero with the same file name opens. I tried to open the file on another computer, and it still not open.

    I opened the other versions of the file (different file name) and other independent files without problem. I opened the largest files without problem. I think some how this file is corrupted.  I get a message when I try to open it says that: indesign can't open * .indd. "I just made a few changes that will have a huge amount of time to do it again so I would get this file open somehow. I have a recent .pdf file, maybe I could import that?  If it is anyway to at least print a copy without actually opening it.

    All this happened when I decided to create a book file where I put this file and then add a table of contents, another front pages glossary and index. I've been avoiding this step, but thought this would facilitate bringing in everything together without creating a huge file.

    Before moving on to the next step, I've saved a copy of the original file on another hard drive.  Then I put the book and when I tried to put my original file in the book that he had failed. After that I couldn't open one of my recent backups saved with the same name on other hard drives. I have three.

    What happens if I try to change the name of the file before opening it, because I think it has something to do with trying to get into the book file? Possibly trying to change the designation to .indb .indd file?

    A strange thing, when I look at the file does not open on the hard drive, it seems to have recorded the last time I tried to open the file as if I had actually opened even if indesign gave me the message "cannot open".

    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Jim

    Basically, you got lucky.

    The lock file is automatically generated by InDesign and cannot be bypassed or removed while the file is open. It's there to prevent two users to have the same file open at the same time. Under the normal circumsstances, it is automatically deleted when the associated file is closed.

    Once, I saw this same error with a file stored on a network of desertrosa and was able to retrieve the same way. Basically, your original is probably somehow corrupted and now useless. It is possible, even likely, since you do not have a lock file, it is not a problem of lock file at all. Once you save the copy and no connection between different document files lock files, there is no relationship between the original and the copy. You should be able to work safely with the copy, but I highly recommend that you keep local while working and only switch to a network after you save, if you want to network storage.

  • COULD NOT OPEN FILE INDD ON DESIGN

    I installed CS4 and I can't open indd files.  Help, please

    Step 1: to calm down.

    There are really more than that. Looks like you are using Windows and try to open the file by double-clicking it in Solution Explorer.

    The files will open correctly when you select "file-> open... '. "in InDesign? A template (.indt) file opens automatically as a copy of without title-1 - this is normal, unless you select "Open original" of the open dialog box.

  • Combine files to a single PDF is not recognize the .indd files - not supported?

    I'm 99% sure that I used the "combine files into a single PDF file" command to convert several .indd in a single front PDF files. This week, I can't do it. First I tried on Acrobat Pro XI, and then today I upgraded to DC. I called Adobe customer support, who was no help - guy who talked were told it is not supported and I have to then export in InDesign. I'm going crazy? What we used to be able to do, but Adobe has changed recently? I see someone else asked a similar question on the .ai files. Seems strange to me that an Adobe product does not support a popular Adobe product!

    No, Acrobat is not convert INDD files in recent versions. For both versions, there was a plugin that does this, but opening INDD desired. He has never worked well, I'm glad that they have eliminated it.

  • Script to convert .indd CC CC 2014 .indd format

    Hello!  I am a novice to the script, so any advice is appreciated.  I'm trying to create a script that will do the following, but miss me the code so that a guest actually InDesign to perform the Conversion to upgrade the file formats.

    (1) select a folder containing CC .indd files that I want to update

    (2) open the .indd CC files.

    (3) remove the TypeKit dialog box

    (4) save the files with the same filename in the new format of CC 2014 .indd

    (5) close the files

    I started with the Script to open INDD files, run the script and close and changed from there.  Currently, this does everything except (4) above.  It saves files with the same filename, but does not go through the conversion process.

    The web and research forums did not turn any documentation on this specific process and how to trigger.  Anyone who has tried this, or have a better way to do it?  I'm all ears! Thank you!

    var myFolder = Folder.selectDialog("Select InDesign Folder to Mass Convert to New File Format");
    var myIndsnFiles = myFolder.getFiles("*.indd");
    var saveFile;

    for(k=0; k<myIndsnFiles.length; k++)
    {
       app.scriptPreferences.userInteractionLevel = UserInteractionLevels.neverInteract;

       app.open(myIndsnFiles[k]);

       app.scriptPreferences.userInteractionLevel = UserInteractionLevels.interactWithAll;

       saveFile = File( myFolder+ '/' + app.activeDocument.name );

       app.activeDocument.close( SaveOptions.NO, saveFile );

        }

  • Ignore warnings on open()

    Hello

    I am writing a script that automates export idml. Basically it iterates over a directory, open indd files all one after the other and exports it as an idml file. Often I get warning because the fonts or the links are missing. I would like to remove these warnings and continue with the script, without the knowledge (click) messages manually.

    Someone knows how it can be configured?

    Thank you very much!

    Lars

    The value of the NEVER_INTERACT: userInteractionLevel

    app.scriptPreferences.userInteractionLevel = UserInteractionLevels.NEVER_INTERACT;

    Don't forget to restore it to INTERACT_WITH_ALL, or you will get more InDesign dialog boxes. Not at all.

  • Opening documents InDesign CS3 CS4

    I hope someone from Adobe can help me with this question. Here's the scenario:

    I'm working on the support team in a prepress environment where we get hundreds of files InDesign customer provided per week. Some customers provide their files in InDesign CS3 and some provide files in InDesign CS4. We have two applications.

    From our experience, we found that if we open a document, InDesign CS3 with InDesign CS4, there is potential for the elements in the document. I don't know what is happening from 3 to 4 to cause this problem. This happened to us several times and we have experienced losses of money owed on the errors of the press.

    One could say, as we have, if the document is provided in InDesign CS3, working on it in InDesign CS3. Pretty easy, right?

    Well, not really. If you have CS3 and CS4, both as installed on your mac at the same time, simply by double-clicking the CS4 default file (because it is newer).

    We said to our operators that they need identify which version of the file was created is not the easiest thing in the world either.

    If you 'get info' on the file, you don't get accurate information. He can say "CS4", even if it's "CS3", I think it's because your system is reading the application newer than you have to install is.

    I found that by dragging the file to the CS3 icon in the doc, it will attempt to open the file in CS3 and if it is really a CS4 document, you will get errors in plugin and the file does not open. It works, but my 38 mac operators are so used to simply by double-clicking a file to open it, they sometimes forget to do it my way, and it is when we receive errors.

    Y at - it a plugin available that would make you, when double - click on a file as to which version he is or which version you want to open the file in InDesign?

    What has changed the Adobe in InDesign CS4, which would cause things to disappear or change when working on CS3 CS4 documents?

    Thank you in advance.

    This isn't an official Adobe support link. This is a user to user forum.

  • Eyedropper tool

    I'm a freelance graphic designer. I spend my life going from one agency to another, feel so well positioned to have an opinion on it. I've never met one another designer who is happy with the eyedropper tool is not the default value in the tool Panel - it annoys just the hell out of us. Adobe seem to be hell-bent on forcing the color theme tool down our neck, despite many complaints. There was a time where Adobe listened to their customers, but this no longer seems to be the case.

    How can we get Adobe to listen to us, everyday users? Adobe, your color theme tool is very nice, but please stick it somewhere else...

    Close all open indd, changing of pipette you need in the tools Panel. ID, open ID - enjoy.
