  • No surround sound on Apple TV 4 gen?

I recently upgraded to Apple TV fourth generation and lost my sound surround.

My old Apple TV (3rd generation) has been connected via optical toslink to my receiver Onkyo and everything worked well. A 5.1 surround sound.

Now, I have installed the new Apple TV 4, who unfortunately doesn't support optical output. Instead I connected the th output to my Onkyo HDMI receiver. Whenever I get sound, but only 3.1 (front left, right and Center) but no sound on my surround sound speakers. If I unplug the Apple TV and plug in my DVD player the same HDMI input on the receiver I hear great 5.1 surround. If Im guessing all the settings of the receiver is very well. It's just the apple TV that does not work.

Why is this? Apple TV supports 5.1 sound more? Is this a known problem and how can it be solved.

Try adjusting the audio settings Dolby on the ATV4.  Given that my receiver has no HDMI inputs, I went with an optical splitter HDMI and have 5.1.

  • KDL-55NX810 - "audio system is not available.

I have a KDL-55NX810 TV and I can't get Dolby Digital surround sound to a DLNA served MP4 and the same file on a USB flash drive. The film was HandBraked to MP4 and when I use MediaInfo to display details, it shows that the sound is AC3 and has 6 channels.

The TV is connected to a Pioneer VSX-1122 with HDMI/ARC and optical cable. I tried my test in both modes.

What I have a problem with (in both modes just described), is that when I go in the settings of the sound of the TV and try to select the external system (instead of the TV speakers), TV does not contain the parameter and returns the value of the TV speakers. In this case if I'm out sound through optical or HDMI/ARC.

Another variant is the setting of the sound - variable or fixed - this setting does not appear to be of importance for keeping the other on the outside.

Why the TV is not the "external system for output value? How to stick to the outside?

Thank you. I think that your method would have worked; I also received this Sony Council e-mail:

I understand that the TV speakers option may not be external "System Audio" value when you use the HDMI and optical audio connections digital with the receiver. I suggest that you use the Audio digital optical sound output for connection to the receiver and turn off the ARC feature. To disable the functionality of the CRA, "Control for HDMI" OFF using the menu option next.

    HOME-> input-> settings-> control for HDMI-> OFF HDMI & channels

After that, try to set the option «External Audio System» TV speakers If the problem persists, reset the TV to factory default settings.

  • 52 "Regza TV Audio - HDMI-output optical audio problem does not

    Hello

friend of mine has a Regza 52 "LCD TV.
She's trying to connect its apple TV & Optus Fetch device (cable TV) on the HDMI inputs and then having the audio outpot of optical fiber audio outpot to his BOSE amplifier.

My understanding is that when you select an HDMI input, then the video and audio must be addressed.
So you should see the video on the HDMI channel and need to hear the sound.

What is happening is that she sees the video selected on the HDMI channel, but not audio, the sound heard is actually free in the atmosphere of television station that had been retained.

We tried all the TV menu options successfully.

How do we get the optical audio output to be on the instructions of the HDMI input?

    Thanks for the help
    Peter

    Hi Peter

All this should not be so complicated. Using an HDMI cable, you can transmit video and audio to external device to TV signals. For example, if you use the HDMI 1 port and turn on the V you should see the picture and hear the sound of the TV.

For audio, you can use an external device like Hi-Fi receiver or this BOSE amplifier. Using the optical audio output of fiber on your TV, you should hear the TV sound look no matter what external device is the source or which channel you. What you see on the TV the sound comes through this amplifier.

I have this BOSE unit, but all I know is that when you want to hear his amplifier the right port or channel must be enabled there.

I use my Toshiba TV connected to the Yamaha V537 amplifier with optical cable and it is listed under AV4 port. So when I want to hear the sound on my Yamaha I need to enable port AV4 on it and its is here.
Some additional settings on the TV are not necessary. Optical output on the TV is always on (see the red light on the inside).

Check this please on BOSE amplifier.

  • Do output sony 5.1 HDMI, audio devices connected TVS optics carry

    Hello

Try to connect it to an existing SONOS system.

All HDMI devices must connect to the TV.

Worried that Audio optics translates PCM instead of keep 5.1 if it is how the content is

    Thank you

    Chuck

Yes, the optical port of the TV would be able to sound output from devices connected using HDMI connection. Make sure that the settings on the source device is set to 5.1 surround sound output.

  • tvOS 10 update breaks DD5.1 on Apple TV output 4 HDMI

Then, I upgraded tvOS 10 last night. Now, all the movies content on Netflix or iTunes won't play with audio when I output 5.1.

I have my TV connected to a HDMI/optical splitter so that it can feed my Sonos Playbar. Prior to the update of the audio has been correctly be pulled the HDMI cable and divided optics 5.1 true, as stated in my application of parameters of Sonos. Since the update, I have to stereo to get all the sounds, which is so obviously not true 5.1.

Someone else had this problem? Any ideas on a solution?

    Thank you.

Try the Bike ATV power and sound systems. It is working for me with HDMI to TV and optical out to A / V receiver. It has no reason for the software of the ATV to make it different than before.

  • How can I get multi channel audio via the HDMI port on an early 2015 MacBook Pro?

I try to get the 7.1 audio channels to flow from my MacBook Pro to a cinema set up. The display works fine now I plug the HDMI in however the sound still Mac speakers. I checked the settings and no HDMI output is available. An airtime option is available, but that returns only two channels as a maximum to the receiver. When I go to the configuration of the source on the receiver it receives video at 1080 p 60herts however it is specifically stated No Audio from the Source.

Also, I have connected my iPhone 6 s more using an Apple through the same HDMI cable adapter and it works perfectly. We also use HDMI with our PS4 occasionally and it works perfectly, even with the 3D.

Thus, the MacBook Pro is early 2015 with an i5, the receiver is a Harmon Kardon AVR 2700 (we run 7.1 channels of this) and we are connecting via the HDMI port through a 50 ft HDMI before. The receiver sends the audio to a projector with 1080 p 60 hertz if it changes anything...

Also if it helps the receiver supports dts - hd master audio decoding, Dolby True HD/Digital Plus decoding, HDMI 1.4 (HDMI is compatible 2.0), as well as multi-channel input and PCM and linear PCM.

    I use a "Behringer UCA202' audio device I bought on amazon.com for only $29.

It works very well for the audio 5.1 or 7.2. Works connect optical toslink. Just plug it into a usb port on your Mac and a cable optical toslink to your AV receiver.

My Yahmaha 7.2 audio/video receiver is measuring process the digital signal in THX, DTS, Dolby digital Pro logic, a cinema, etc.

  • Is there such a thing as dispatcher HDMI cable?

I want to connect my ATV4 to my TV and my stereo. Are there good HDMI cable dispatchers markets available? Such a thing would be called a 'splitter '?

Seems unlikely due to HDCP problems. Of course, you can connect ATV to the receiver and the receiver to the TV, but this means that you must have to use ATV receiver. There are devices that divide the HDMI audio for an optical link. If it works for you? If the TV has an optical output, you can get audio out to your receiver. Here's my setup.

  • Connect my Soundbar to TV with hdmi

Hi I just bought a Toshiba 40L5453D smart TV and also a Toshiba PA5075E-2SPA mini soudbar and sub wireless.

Have all two HDMI ports, but it seems that my TV has only HDMI in and not out... There is no option on the sound to pass, so I am currently using the headphone jack... Any ideas?

    Thank you

If you do not have a receiver to your audio, you can not use the sound bar HDMI inputs, as televisions never offer the output HDMI Sockets. Receivers AV only do,
extract the audio and bypass the video signal to the display. But, you can just use the optical-IN of your Soundbar instead to transmit the digital audio signal, as the TV offers a perspective - TAKEN, you'll need is an optical cable.

  • 55VL900A and BDX4300KY - TV is not output Dolby Digital fiber optic

Just installed my new TV, 55VL900A - great picture, very happy. I have a BDX4300KY a drive blueray and Foxtel connected to the TV via HDMI.

The TV has audio output optical fiber, which I run for my Yamaha DSP - A1 amp.

The Blueray and Foxtel are defined to pass on Dolby Digital through HDMI.

Problem 1: TV does not have Dolby Digital of the fiber optic connection.

Problem 2: If I run audio blueray or foxtel fiber optics directly to my amp, there is a sync problem. The audio is delivered earlier than the image.

I searched and found no results in my manual, or in the forum. Help, please.

    Thank you, Mike.

    Hello

I put t have the same devices at home, but I use the optical cable for sound. It is connected to my blue ray and Technichs amp player. I use 5.1 home theater connected to the Technics. The sound is perfect.

I put t know how it works on TV Toshiba but check please if something should be enabled there.
    > The TV does not have Dolby Digital of the fiber optic connection.
See s operating manuals and do not forget the optical output must not be activated. Optical cable is connected to the amp in the optical port marked as TV in the back? Don't forget that bulks is set to TV chanel when you want to hear the sound of the TV directly. In my opinion, it should be best option for you if you will be able to make it work.
    > If I run audio blueray or foxtel fiber optics directly to my amp, there is a sync problem. The audio is delivered earlier than the image.
Which is really strange. Can you please test it with cable audio normal cinch? It will be interesting to know if the same problem occurs again.

  • Satellite X 200: is it possible output audio 7.1 HD-DVD on HDMI

    Hello

just wondering if anyone can confirm if/how it is possible to output 7.1 channels via the HDMI port on the portable X-200 (20 years)?

It seems that Toshiba HD-DVD player allows only 5.1 selectable channels in the audio settings.
Thinking about upgrading my audio/video receiver, but may not bother with support 7.1 if my X-200 can't get out.

    See you soon

    Hello

As far as I know HDMI is a transfer of audio and video data, and it is designed to be used with a HD TV. Can you connect 7.1 audio system to your TV? Or can you connect an HDMI cable to audio/video receiver?

To use the best sound quality, you must use optical cable. Please refer to the manuals of s. If I remember well there you can find the article how to use S/PDIF port.

  • Apple TV4 - what happened to the optical audio output?

I can't not all sound thanks to my new Apple TV 4 to the Bar SONOS Play which is hooked up to my TV Sony Bravia KDL - 52S 4100.    But my Apple TV 3 offer a perfect for the SONOS via port Audio perspective of the Apple TV 3 (which Apple seems to have failed on the Apple TV 4).   Apparently a number of TV top of range before the era of "Smart TV" does not deliver audio via their HDMI ports.    This failure to design was easily corrected by connecting an optical cable between the port of the Apple TV Optical Audio in SONOS optical input Port.    No Apple eliminated the possibility to connect a SONOS in this latest edition of the Apple TV?    .

probably the deleted the connector because they judged little used

  • Toshiba 40L1353DB - HDMI cross

    Hello

I am trying to establish if the Toshiba 40L1353DB supports 5.1 audio channels "passthrough" of connected external devices plugged into the HDMI to the TV.
In addition, there is a list of all Toshiba TVs that support this feature?

    Thank you very much

    Peter

Unfortunately I did not have this TV and cannot answer your question, but in the past, I had a similar situation with my old AV decoder

I used the optical cable to connect my BD player with audio/video receiver. HDMI cable has been connected to the TV and optical cable for audio/video receiver. Everything worked perfectly. On this path, I had pic perfect on the TV and the sound on the audio/video receiver for my 5.1 system speakers.

  • How to make my computer send all audio data via an optical audio cable instead of making headphones?

    Howdy,

To listen to the radio online or CD played from my computer, I used to connect the computer to my entertainment system at home since the headphone jack of the computer to the port on my home entertainment system.

Now, I wanted to get a better sound and bought the optical audio cable. However, I don't know how to tell my computer to send the audio signal to the system entertainmeny home via digital cable optical, rather than by the headphone. If I just disconnect the cable between the headphone and the port to THE and have only the PC and the system connected with the optical audio cable, I can't hear any sound. I suspect that the computer is not sending the data through the optical audio port. I'm not able to figure out how I can adjust the settings on my computer so that, from now on, all sounds are emitted through the optical audio.

    (1) I want to do it especially for my desktop HP (configuration below) and advice on how to do this would be appreciated.

    (2) I also have a HP laptop (configuration below) and I was wondering if this would be feasible too (even if she does not have an audio output, but it has an HDMI output - you can convert audio optical?)

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello @_goma,.

Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!

I read your post about how you want to send all the audio data via an optical audio cable instead of the headphone jack of your computer, and I'd be happy to help you in this case!

To configure your desktop computer to activate the optical audio cable, I advise you to follow the steps below:

Step 1. Click on the button of the Windows key on your desktop

    Step 2. Type "Control Panel."

Step 3. Select "Control Panel" in the upper right corner

    Step 4. Select sound

Step 5. On the Read tab, right click on the white box under available devices

Step 6. Select "Show disabled" and "show disconnected devices".

Step 7. Connect your Audio optical cable

Step 8. Select your cable Audio perspective as the default device, and click 'enable '.

Because it is not possible to convert the audio output HDMI output on your laptop, it is regrettable that the laptop is not able to connect with an optical audio cable.

Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, and I look forward to your response!
