OptiPlex 980 win 7 64 printer to network

Years, I used a home network printer, attached to a robotic router we (entry USB), of any of my computers from home (XP, Win7 32, Win7 64). Never a problem.

For two days, all of a sudden, my Dell Optiplex 980 desktop computer, running Windows 7 64 b, is unable to use the printer.

I made each known attempt to solve and read all that I found Googling autour. Reinstall the printer, cancellation of any firewall and AntiVirus. I even changed the local USB printer, with a direct connection, and I printed without problems. Verified data from tcp port and the address of the router.

Of course, other computers continue to regularly print to the printer when it is connected to the router. All IP network are fixed and the network works without problem with a lot of other elements (cams, iphone, AppleTV, ipod etc., AccessPoint - for the WiFi network part - and Extender)

I made many other tests that I go here for the list, always without result. Officially the printer seems to be ok, but I am unable to get even a test page for this computer.

For your information I did not any voluntary action or modification I could lay claim to the cause of this failure.

I need to solve this problem, so pls no matter what kind of idea is very well accepted... same crazy!

Thank you very much

Manlio

As we were not able to understand why, Windows 7, became suddenly unable to set the print server US Robotics on the Intranet, I bought an external print server, having an IP address directly and solved the problem. Maybe someday I can find out why...

  • HP8600 can print on network, but may not use ePrint or install updates

    Hi all

I have a HP 8600 Pro A-I-O printer connected wireless to my network using a static IP address.

When it comes to printing, I have no problem. Until a few days ago, I had to restart the printer every day because it seemed to lose network connectivity. However, once I manually configure a static IP address that problem has disappeared.

My problem is twofold. But, I'm sure they have a root cause, that's what I turn on the forums to resolve.

    1. When you log on the Server Web integrated, the ePrint shows my printer (with IP address) box, and then a red X, and then click the eprint. It is said that ePrint is on. I then page details.

Here, it shows ePrint on and Apps. But it shows a big red X between the printer icons and ePrint and propose a fix of this link.

When I entered the patch from this link, it will attempt to connect to the server and then returns cannot connect to the server.

It is a basic home network connected to the Comcast/Xfinity cable, you use a Netgear WNR834b router connected by modem cable BEE. There is no proxy involved server.

When you configure my IP information I used the DNS of Comcast (75.75.75.75) server and the DNS (8.8.8.8) Google Server, so to leave it blank. However, none of them solve the problem.

FWIW: WINS is enabled under advanced network settings. However, it has no IP address configured for WINS. Would it be the cause of the problem?

My network consists of a computer laptop Windows 7, Ubuntu 14.04 dasktop (not on all the time), the HP8600 and various devices based on Android.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you

    Robert

OK, so I 'think' I hae the problem solved. It seems that the default gateway setting if necessary, be set to the IP address of the router, not the IP provided by Comcast/Xfinity. I wish this was a little more clear in the documentation.

Once I changed to the same as the router, I could download and update the printer; and ePrint seems to be online.

Now, I have a strange situation where the boxes of the printer status and ink level status are red, with no info on the EWS page. But, given that the original issue seems to be resolved, I this will mark as resolved.

  • HP Envy 5540: Printer Hp Envy 5540 randomly printed the Network Configuration Page

    Hello!

I bought this printer about a month ago. Set up the connection to the printer wireless with my wifi, and my understanding is that the printer is protected like my wifi and use the same password in order to print something. I kept my printer connected and 'standby mode' since I put in place. The night last at about 23:00 when I was in bed, the printer turned on randomly and printed a "wireless network configuration page" that has had a lot of information, including the IP address and listing my name wifi as well as the names of my neighbors wifi in the surrounding apartments.

I'm trying to understand why this printed, because I certainly did not do. Anyone have access to my wifi, or has someone may simply try to print something and selected my printer as it should appear on the "list available connections on the computer of anyone, given that the printer is turned on? How could they print this sheet of network configuration if my printer is password protected?

I'm mostly concerned about someone who has access to my internet if they could print this page somehow, but maybe it happened just when they tried to connect to it, and it did not work while trying to fix MY printer?

I would appreciate any idea on the issue.

    Thank you!

    Hi @printerprob5540,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I saw your post on how your HP Envy 5540 randomly print a Network Configuration Page. I'm happy to help with this problem!

I find it very strange considering the only way to print the Network Configuration Page, AFAIK, is with the following steps:

    • Make sure that there are size A4 or US Letter, unused, plain paper in the feeder.
    • On the printer Panel, drag the screen to the left and then press Setup.
    • Touch tools.
    • Drag upward on the screen and then tap Network Configuration report.
    • A Network Configuration Page prints up to three pages of information.

  • Can't print on network printers after Microsoft Update

I have 3 other computer Windows XP SP3, which, after having done the automatic updates in the last 4 days. (Week of (13/09/2010) have lost the ability to print on network printers.  Computers are different subnets, using different brands of printers.  In any printer IP can be crazy and network connections are good.

Have deleted updates using Add / Remove programs in Control Panel.  Have deleted the printers and ports and re-installed, changed the settings of the printer to print directly, restarted the printer-queue service.  All have failed to correct the problem.  What Miss me?

I found the solution to my computers.  Apparently, there was an interaction between Windows Update and McAfee in which McAfee ended up with a list of blocked for the server application entry of spooling print:

The application name = Spooler SubSystem App
    Application = C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\SPOOLSV path. EXE

Once I changed the permissions to "Allow" for this application, I was able to print directly to the printer again.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8100 does not print - wired network connection - Mac OS x 10.9

I have my 8100 Officejet Pro connected to my home network via a wired ethernet connection. I use Mac OS X 10.9. We had ongoing problems with the printer is accessible via the network. Whenever we have set up the connection, it works for a few print jobs, but whenever we close the printer, the next attempt to print always fails.

I just went through all steps to solve the problem. I went back to square one: reinstalled printer drivers on my MacBook Pro running Mac OS x 10.9; has passed through all stages of wired network connection. and now, every time I send a job to the printer, it fits like the receipt of employment and printing, but the printer itself does not.

The Billboard on the printer indicates it is connected to the network. Print the Network Setup page confirms it is connected to the cable network. Visit the IP address of the printer via my web browser also confirmed. I am able to print a printer HP Print Utility status report, so I don't know that the computer network and the printer are connected and communicate with each other. However, I can't print from MS Word, PDF files or anywhere else outside of the HP Print utility. Work is revealed in the queue, where it shows the status of each page completely 100%, employment disappears, but does never print it.

Help, please. This has been a problem since I bought the printer, and now that my warranty has expired, it's my last hope of fixing. I'm at the end of my tether with a device that I spent enough money on to expect to work, and it does not work properly literally since the day where it was purchased. All attempts to implement working temporarily, at best. Thanks in advance and if you need more information, please let me know.

    Hi DBG345

I understand that you are now able to print from USB, but not on the network.

There are a few things you can try.

Connect the printer to the router with the ethernet cable.

    Unplug the USB cable.

Get the IP address of the printer.

    Click on the Apple.
Click on System Preferences, click on the print icon and scanning, select the printer, click the sign - to remove the printer. Then click on the + sign, then select the printer from the list, select the printer name first, if it does not try the driver airprint, (airprint is apple pre-installed with functionality of basic pilot) click on the Add button.

You can try is to add the printer as a Protocol IP to see if it will work. Go to Apple, system, print, and scan preferences, click on + button, then select the icon of intellectual property across the top, type in the IP address of the printer, select direct stream below, then apply.

    Try to print.

I would like to sign up for updates from the HP driver. When available, you will be informed by e-mail.

    Hope that helps.

Have you installed a new hardware or software recently?

You can try to clear the BIOS:

    1. Power off, unplug
    2. Power button press / hold for about 15 seconds
    3. Open the case and remove the motherboard battery
    4. Power button press / hold for about 30 seconds
    5. Use canned air to remove dust bunnies
    6. Reinstall the PCI cards and RAM in their slots
    7. Replace the battery (use 3 volt CR2032, if this one is old, ~ $2)

  • Windows XP 64 bit will run on a Dell Optiplex 780 SFF or Optiplex 980 SFF?

I intend to buy a Dell Optiplex 780 SFF or a Dell Optiplex 980 SFF, but I would like to know which one will work with Windows XP 64-bit.

  • Second graphics card for Dell Optiplex 980

    Hello

My Optiplex 980 has an ATI Radeon HD 3450 with two connected monitors. In order to launch a third screen, I bought a compatible Windows 7 video card and installed in the PCI (regular PCI, PCI Express) housing.  Sort of, this has worked for a bit, but changing resolutions display or other activities led to empty screens. I removed it.

    By this thread: http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3515/p/19400654/19935197.aspx#19935197

It seems that my machine simply does not support a third-party monitor. Is this correct? I have seen elsewhere that Optiplex owners have managed to install a 2nd video card.

I want to run three monitors at once, stretching from my screen (no mirroring). The Matrox TripleHead2Go is $ 300, too expensive, and I need to run the different resolutions on each screen.

I would try USB video but worry that it will put a brake on my CPU.

    I appreciate the advice.
