Oracle 11g install on Vista is VERY VERY SLOW

Hey everybody,

I just got my work PC upgraded to Windows Vista and I am trying to get Oracle 11g installed on it. I started the installation process, but this thing moves super slow. It happened for about 2 hours and it is only 9%.

Is there something I can do to speed up the process? Can I disable some sort of indexing file space? Are there any Vista background that I have to close during the installation?

Thanks in advance!

-Joe

Joe,

They installed Service Pack 2 for Vista. Also, it is the 32-bit version or the 64-bit version?

launched on them. Microsoft Security Essentials and Prevx have also proven to be very
reliable and compatible. Use MSE or Avast and Prevx, Prevx 3 but not all.

Avast Home free - stop any shields is not necessary except leaving Standard, Web, and
    Operation of the network.

    Prevx - Home - free

    Windows Firewall

Windows Defender (is not necessary if you use MSE)

    Protected IE - mode

I also IE always start with asset if filter InPrivate IE 8.

Or use Microsoft Security Essentials - free

Prevx works well alongside MSE or Avast

Prevx - home - free small, fast, exceptional protection CLOUD, working with other security

Also get Malwarebytes - free - use as scanner only. If you ever think malware and that
would be unusual with Avast and occasional Prevx running with the exception of a low level cookie
(not much), to UPDATE and then run it as a scanner. I have a lot of scanners and they
never find anything of note that I started to use this configuration.

  • Oracle 11g install issues on Windows 7

I had some problems installing Oracle on Windows 7 in what it seems to hang when checking for prerequisites. After several attempts for a reason any more to the installation. I had accepted the default settings and was the installation from a USB on the same drive. The installation has a few error messages on the way, such as "file not found." I'm in the directory BIN and start sqlplus 'system' as the username and the password I had specified, but error "ORA-12560: error adapter TNS:protocol. Googling autour, a little, I tried to see if Oracle Services ran, but only saw OracleMTSRecoveryService and OracleRemExecService (and couldn't work out how to get any service running beyond what was listed there). I've created the ORACLE_HOME path to the BIN directory, but no there was no change in the situation. I just need one to set up a database of base on my PC so I can mess around with it. • My Vista machine is very slow to start

Original title: MY VISTA IS VERY SLOW

my computer perfomance is very slow.it takes more than 3 minutes to complete beginning up.how can I increase my performance?

    > my computer perfomance is very slow.it takes more than 3 minutes to complete beginning up.how can I increase my performance?

My personal opinion is that the attention of a lot of people pay to how long it
is required to start is not justified. Assuming that the speed of the computer is
otherwise satisfactory, it is generally not worry. Most
people start their computers once a day or even less frequently. In
the general scheme of things, even a few minutes at the start is not
very important. Personally I turn on my computer when I get up the
morning, then go get my coffee. When I come back, he did start. I have
don't know how long it took to start and I do not.

However, if you don't want to solve it, it may be due to this
programs start up automatically and you can stop some of them
to start this way. On each program, you do not want to start
automatically, check its Options to see if he has the choice of not doing
Start (make sure that you actually choose the option do not run, not)
just one 'do not display the icon"option). Many can easily and better be arrested
in this way. If this does not work, run MSCONFIG from the start. Run
line and on the Startup tab, uncheck the programs you want
    starts automatically.

However, if I were you, I wouldn't do it just for the application of
the minimum number of running programs. Despite what many people say
you, you should be concerned, not with the way * a lot * of these programs
you run, but * that *. Some of them can degrade performance severely, but
others have no effect on performance.

Don't stop all programs to run willy-nilly. What you need to do
is to determine what each program is, what its value is up to you which
the performance cost is its running all the time. You can get
more information on the latter with research on the internet and ask questions on
    Specifications here.

Once you have this information, you can make a smart informed
decision on what you want to keep and what you want to get rid of.

  • Insert very slow (XE 11g)

    Hello

I did a new install of 11g XE by default on a Windows 8.1, and I have to spend in its 1.5 GB of data (50 tables) database. A table contains a blob column, and it has 600 k rows; each line has a blob, and the size of each BLOB can range from 1 KB to 100 KB.

When you insert this table with blobs, it goes very quickly (50 lines can take 1 second or less) until some point in the insertion of these counts, where it begins to be very very slow (50 may take more than 5 seconds).

If I cancell all the processes (for example in line 150 000), then I start cero by removing all the tables and adding it again, it goes very quickly to line 150 000 and then I'm getting very slow again. It is not a cache issue (I checked to restart the machine). It seems that he compared to the tablespace more, but I can´t find an answer on this point.

Is there some clues for this?.

I'm sorry to ask, I'm not an expert of the Oracle.

    Best regards

    Dany

  • Recent problem with very slow internet browsing on all browsers Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit

    Separated from this thread.

Hi all I'm having the same issues as Theresa in the thread above split. I have Vista Home Premium 32 bit service Pack 2 with all the installed updates (automatically done!).  Within 3 months, this PC at home that was formerly an excellent navigation device became very slow when you browse using IE, Firefox or Chrome. It takes 30 to 50 seconds to load any web page (Yahoo, eBay, etc.). I followed all the instructions suggested to Theresa in SafeMode by Bill Smithers. Resulted in nothing other than a few cookies and Wetherbug I killed. I also run McAfee total protection and Spybot S & D every 3 days with nothing found.

I have reset my browsers to the specifications of the factory without change.

Comcast is my internet provider high speed and my speedtest returns 65 - 75 MB/s download and 11 Mbit/s upload very regularly. I connect directly to the bridge. I had Comcast out and they swapped unity Arris of a unit of Cisco beefier but that changes nothing. Other devices on my network domestic perform very well and do not have this problem.

When I browse a site the CPU spikes up to 88% use in 45 seconds and is stable at 50% usage 1.7 GB memory.

The only thing I can infer is at this time that something happened to the operating system during automatic updates or some other setting has been changed.  I could use any help or suggestions you may have! Otherwise, I love this OS and have not had any problems. Thanks, Dhoffa

I apologize is not getting back to you earlier.

When you download and install games and other you don't normally need to keep what you have downloaded in the downloads folder. Some downloads are wide to remove could free up some disk space! You need to do on a regular basis to keep on top of the problem...

The content of your video in total 414 GB file. You might look at some of them again? If this is not the case, delete those that you no longer need.

You have a lot of icons on the desktop. Take a look at these and remove those that you never use.

When you did above select Start, all programs, accessories, System Tools, cleaning disk to emptying your trash, delete temporary Internet files and other selected options. I recommend also you click Other Options, System Restore and delete all but the last system restore point. Run Disk Defragmenter.

    Hello

    See if this helps you:

Search for malware, if necessary using the safe mode with networking.

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/how-to-start-Windows-in-safe-mode/#Vista

    Windows Vista

    Using the F8 method:

    1. Restart your computer.
    2. When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with the Boot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
    3. Select the Safe Mode with networking with the arrow keys.
    4. Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
    5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
    6. Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.

Once in Safe Mode with network, download and run RKill.

RKill does NOT remove the malware; It stops the Malware process that gives you a chance to remove it with your security programs.

Then, download, install, update and scan your system with the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware in Mode safe mode with networking:

It would be a good idea to run the System File Checker tool to see if you have corrupted files

"How to use the System File Checker tool to fix the files on system missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7"

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

Use the (SFC.exe) System File Checker tool to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click principally made programs, Accessories, right-click guest, and then click run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click allow.
    2. Type the following command and press ENTER:
      sfc/scannow

The sfc/scannow command analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

If SFC detects serious flaws, you may need to perform a repair upgrade Installation or relocation complete if you don't have a Vista DVD from Microsoft.
