Oracle 11g install issues on Windows 7

I had some problems installing Oracle on Windows 7 in what it seems to hang when checking for prerequisites. After several attempts for a reason any more to the installation. I had accepted the default settings and was the installation from a USB on the same drive. The installation has a few error messages on the way, such as "file not found." F:\app\ben\product\11.2.0\dbhome_2\oc4j\j2ee\oc4j_applications\applications\em.ear"and" "file not found." F:\app\ben\product\11.2.0\dbhome_2\ctx\admin\dr0ulib. Sql.SBS ". In addition, towards the end he gave a message "the General_Purpose.dbc model does not exist. Please specify an existing for creation of database model. < OK >. Despite these errors, it seemed to install correctly. On the other hand I can't connect you to it as I attempt to try to put in place some sort of database of base for me. I'm in the directory BIN and start sqlplus 'system' as the username and the password I had specified, but error "ORA-12560: error adapter TNS:protocol. Googling autour, a little, I tried to see if Oracle Services ran, but only saw OracleMTSRecoveryService and OracleRemExecService (and couldn't work out how to get any service running beyond what was listed there). I've created the ORACLE_HOME path to the BIN directory, but no there was no change in the situation. I just need one to set up a database of base on my PC so I can mess around with it. How can I get it going?

Thank you
Ben

Hello
Try to install the Xpress edition and see if it works.
I had the same sequence of problems you describe Ven. I tried to install an older version 10g. that was supposed to be for Windows7. I thought it was because of the Windows 7 UAC interuppting installation.
But today when I checked again once I saw that it gave an error should OS ver 5.1... up to 6.0. My version of the OS was 6.1.
I then tried to install the Xpress edition, it worked, was try it seems to work ok so far.
hope this helps,
Ranjit.

  • Oracle 11g install on Vista is VERY VERY SLOW

    Hey everybody,

I just got my work PC upgraded to Windows Vista and I am trying to get Oracle 11g installed on it. I started the installation process, but this thing moves super slow. It happened for about 2 hours and it is only 9%.

Is there something I can do to speed up the process? Can I disable some sort of indexing file space? Are there any Vista background that I have to close during the installation?

    Thanks in advance!

They installed Service Pack 2 for Vista. Also, it is the 32-bit version or the 64-bit version?

You will need to unzip the 2 files in one folder

Put the following two files in the same folder:
    win64_11gR2_database_1of2.zip
    win64_11gR2_database_2of2.zip

Now unpack the first file. And it will create a folder called "Database".
Now, unzip the second zip file that will unzip the files in the existing database folder.

    Greetings,

I cleaned up the previous installation (directories etc., after you run the deinstall script)

That means ODP.net cannot be installed in an existing home to Oracle. If this is not the case, how can I install it separately to get the job of EPMA.

OK got it works by manipulating inventory. It seems that there is an old facility that was causing the problem.

    Hello

First of all, you must make sure that the event viewer service is running, all you have to do is to go to
my computer right click Properties then in computer management, you will find event viewer.

Second, expand the event viewer and go to system and make a right, and then click clear log.
You can do the same step for application.

then come back again and try to create the database :)

    Thank you

Why a listener 2nd for the TCPS? Why not use a single listener - as is the default value recommended?

Do you have SSL certificates (root complete auth chain) for the server in the portfolio of Oracle for this server - with the generated SSL certificate request, signed by a root authority?

To see the server tcp listener endpoints, use the netstat command. Enable SQL * Net follow-up on the side of the listener if you need to trace and debug connections to the listener. Activate too on the client side if you need to trace the calls from the client to the listener.
