Oracle SYS password

Hello

Applications need to use one of these user accounts?
Shouldn't the application have a configuration of the user on the database or server, and not use these.

SYS
SYSTEM
ORACLE

Hello

SYS and SYSTEM are not thin application.

Is ORACLE user/schema of your database application? It is not a standard administrative user.

  • start of 12 DB in the configuration of multithreading without knowing the sys password

    Hello

    I have a test of 12cR1 (12.1.0.2) oracle database in an AIX environment. I wanted to try the Unix 'multi-threading' on the machine architecture, so I did everything excpet creating the password file before you shut down the database where the init.ora file has been modified (by adding threaded_execution = TURE).

    NOW I'm stuck, because once you enable multi-threading OS authentication not working anymore.

    You must provide the password for SYS explicitly, the problem I know not the SYS password and now cannot start the database!

    any suggestion or help?

    The problem is solved by following the guide in the following link: http://www.dbi-services.com/index.php/blog/entry/multithreaded-12c-and-connect-as-sysdba

  • Confused about my SYS password

    We have a 11.2.0.2 Oracle database we use for PeopleSoft. We had an audit, and they seem to think that we use the default password for SYS. I guarantee you that we are not. I think they can have determined this by obtaining a list of hashes of password.

    In my attempts to prove that they are wrong and we do not have a default password then I did some research and ran the following query:

    SQL > select *.

    2 of dba_users_with_defpwd;

    USERNAME

    ------------------------------

    APPQOSSYS

    PS

    SYS

    DIP

    ORACLE_OCM

    PEOPLE

    OUTLN

    7 selected lines.

    I don't understand why it's show SYS here. It definitely fails if I try to connect with CHANGE_ON_INSTALL or change_on_install

    In addition, the SYS password is identical to SYSTEM, I think, so which would have shown here if that is the case.

    I will say that the database was created by the PeopleSoft database creation wizard, then perhaps what it do not update dba_users_with_defpwd or some other table properly?

    So, how can I prove the password for SYS is not by default?

    Roger, 11g Express and an 11.2.0.3 looking at the user SYS system appears in select out of dba_users_with_defpwd, even if the installation required for SYS and SYSTEM passwords so all I can say is that you demo system via the command line using something like sqlplus system/deft_password and capture the message ORA-01017.  You should be able to do the same for the user SYS providing you make the attempt to connect sqlplus from a remote server.

    Yes everything can connect as sysdba with any password

    You can protect in doing so below.

    change or add a parameter in the file sqlnet.ora None

    SQLNET.authentication_services = (NONE)

    wait for the right password that no one can access it;

    Try this

    then check;

    SQL > SELECT * FROM V$ PWFILE_USERS;

    Try this: -.
    sys/any_password (or) Conn password as sysdba
    for example:
    Conn sys/oracle as a sysdba;
    connected

    Conn any_normal_User/pwd as sysdba;
    Show user;

    After you change the setting sqlnet.ora None try.

    Conn any_normal_user/pwd as sysdba;

    Conn sys/any_pwd as sysdba;

    Conn sys/correct_pwd as sysdba;

  • Sys password invalid 11g

    During the installation, I have selected the option "Same password for all SYS" & typed in.... twice.

    So now I'm Runnin' SQL-Plus I'm trying to sign as a Sys... its says that I have to signin as SysDBA or SysOper. Well, Ok.
    But using the names (Ucase, Lcase, mixed) my password / login is not valid.

    I swear I typed the password correctly,
    In fact, when I connect to the database of the system controls (does not seem to mind that mention rolleyes)
    the password works & let me in.
    Unfortunately from there I can't do anything other than make a new administrator.

    My administrator user "Bob" allows me to connect to SQL, but I can't create tables, modify, or grant privileges... so...

    How can I get connected as SYS (DBA)? And to grant privileges to the 'Bob '?

    I'm always flumuxed as to why I can enter into the control of the database, but I can't not sysdba/pwd in the SQLPLUS... questionable now, just... weird.

    The main difference is the following:
    Accessories-> guest is DIFFERENT than the command prompt I get from the OraHome-> application development-> SqlPlus shortened.

  • orapwd file out of sync now because I changed the sys password!

    I just got these two databases and online work (primary and backup) and want really not necessary to ask an outtage the customer...

    HP - UX 11.23
    Oracle 10.2.0.2

    For some reason, I couldn't get my Toad session connect with the credentials of sys, so I thought that I have blocked the account.
    I used a sqlplus session to change the sys password...
    As soon as I hit enter on the command commit, I knew that I messed up. I remember reading that the sys password must be identical.
    I found my notes on what I had the sys attributed to the last day before, and which would correspond to what it was supposed to be on the primary.
    I changed it back, but still the day before has lost the connection of pulse and throws failures in the primary alert log.

    Is anyway this sync everything up without having to take down the two databases and recreate the password file?

    My research have all returned nothing but how to create the file, it's self.

    Thank you.

    If you change the sys password then the pwd file should be updated with the new password. If you are concerned about the replacement of the file password standby with primary... Make a backup copy of the file on hold and then put spikes in place. It should work without problems.

  • Owner of software Oracle (installation): password

    Ive installed 10GEX and worked a little inside. Now, I work in the implementation of backup process. I want to set up a crotab to run the same script which is used through the GUI (Centos 5.4 - "RedHat"). I run the script manually with success.

    Read on crontab, each user can have its own set of jobs. and by using the crontab-l command you can list the work in the queue of the user you are logged in as. The 'oracle' user exists, but I do not have a password for it... in order to log in to the operating system by using this user and set up a cron job under his name.

    What is the right way to go? backup using the oracle user tasks? Can I know the oracle user - this would allow successful for the oracle user, crontab entry, or how to determine what is the password.

    I could always change the oracle as a 'root' user password - but that would break something?

    Thanks in advance for some background information (for you) and really need information for me.

    Hello

    (1) If you set the oracle user password, it do not affect DB or Apex.

    (2) if I understand correctly, default password is not set for the oracle user, so you can't use it to connect.
    If you set the password using the passwd command, then you can log in with this username.
    Some Linux forum can give the best answer to this question.

  • Oracle SYS/SYSTEM sharing of passwords

    Unfortunately, we have an obligation to not have passwords for sys/system shared even among the DBA staff. Someone said an Oracle article which details not sharing passwords. The problem is that security sees this issue as a threat. I supported until I'm blue in the face that these two accounts are required by the dba team. Does anyone have any information on this slot holds pass along? Things that worked and even those who do not? The real problem comes into play when you start looking on behalf of oracle cron jobs which have seen most of the privileged passwords.

    Thank you!

    Regarding cron jobs.
    Here's what we do...
    1. create a permanent account to make these kinds of tasks, something like "dbsdba" on the server.
    2. in the database create an external analog account identified, ops$ dbsdba.
    3. grant the account of dbsdba ops$ the privileges necessary to accomplish its tasks.
    4 use dbsdba cron to schedule to the various substantive tasks. Because it is an external account identified, it can connect to.

  • Oracle DB - passwords Impossible 12 c

    I have a 12.1.0.2.0 base and trying to create a user with a password that is impossible to block direct connections and don't allow to connect through a proxy. The alter user testuser identified by the command "YouCannotLogin" of values that worked in previous versions of the database fails now. Everyone knows about this problem?

    I just did some tests. Giving the clause IDENTIFIED BY VALUES without papers (which sets the password of 10g of hash in sys.user$ .password) chain offers work in my 12.1.0.1 on Windows as in previous versions, but he returned in 12.1.0.2 under Linux, ' ORA-02153: string of invalid password VALUES. However, you can set it to a legal hash value:

    ORCL > alter user scott identified by the values "YouCannotLogin";

    alter user scott identified by the values of "YouCannotLogin".

  • Update of grid with new Sys Password thorugh EMCLI

    I use Grid 12 c and want to automate the grid was updated with the new password for the account of all databases sys. To do this, I'll use a named credential which is the database to the user sys. I then use these credentials named to create a credential of the favorite target of one named credential. If I do it this way, then when I upadate the password, I have to do it once (credentials named) and it will be pushed to all users who use that name of credentials to access specific functions only as a sysdba user could (ie: DBA only) I hope this is the right approach
    Then, I use emcli to update the credentials-
    emcli modify_named_credential-cred_name = NC_SAMPLE...
    What is the correct syntax to update the named database credential credentials?
    I tried
    emcli modify_named_credential-cred_name = NC_SAMPLE - attreibutes = "" host password: passwd ""
    and the following error: column of ocurred:Invalid Error Host Password credentials

    What is the name of the column on the right to specify the database credentials?
    Which syntax to use to achieve this?

    Try this:
    emcli modify_named_credential-cred_name = NC_SAMPLE-attributes = 'DBUserName:sys; DBPassword:secret; DBRole:sysdba ".

    Replace
