Outlook 2003 keeps closing

I have Windows Vista Home Premium, SP1 running on a laptop Toshiba with a Pentium Dual-Core T2370 processor and 1 GB of RAM. I use Outlook 2003 and lately when downloading messages, it stops at halfway. It is said that he has encountered a problem and needs to close, but I have no idea what the problem is. This started about 3 weeks ago, and I can't find out what I did then that may have caused this. Any ideas?

  • KB975051 updates and KB976882 will not install on Windows Vista. They are Office and Outlook 2003. Anyone else having the same problem?

Tried several times.  Windows Update keeps prompting me to install but it fails every time.

I was finally able to solve the problem of not being able to update KB975051 and KB976882 by taking the following measures:
In Google I typed in 'the kb976882 will not be installed.  Under options, I got "Download Details: update for Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 Junk...» "the site of Microsoft.com/downloads.  I downloaded from this site and then also picked KB975051 on other popular choice located lower on the page and done the same thing.  I don't remember this solution being a few days ago.
I hope you find that this approach works for you as well.  Ignore the entrance of miss under my name as proposed in another comment response.  I have missunderstood as a way to comment on...

  • Outlook Express 6, Outlook 2000 and Outlook 2003 print incomplete emails if IE8 is installed.

The right side of the first page of a printed email from Outlook Express 6, Outlook 2000, or Outlook 2003 is truncated on a computer that is running Windows XP SP3 with Internet Explorer 8 is installed.  E-mails containing tables are specifically affected, but it may be any other emails as well. This problem is easily reproducible on any XP machine running IE8 and any version of outlook prior to 2007. It seems that Microsoft has stopped using the IE from Outlook 2007 print engine. One of these same machines that have this problem, if you uninstall IE8 and go back to IE7, the problem goes away.

I searched all over the web trying to solve this problem. It seems that there is some workaround solutions, but not a solution for this problem for XP users. Microsoft has released a fix for this EXACT problem for users of Windows Vista and Windows 7. This hotfix will not install on a XP system. The link to the fix is here:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/980333

There is another thread on this topic in forum windows 7:

    http://social.answers.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/InternetExplorer/thread/8c629797-DB1C-470C-92af-015e4ea03110

The question in this thread has been resolved with the patch that I mentioned above, but when joined XP users, it was recommended that someone start a new thread about this in XP. I did now and am waiting for a response from Microsoft.

Possible temporary solutions (for those of you are experiencing this problem):

1 - back to IE7 (I'm not an acceptable solution in the enterprise environment).

    2. after the opening of the email, go to the file and save it as an html file. Open the HTML in ie8 or your favorite browser and print from there.

3 - the upgrade to Office 2007 or 2010 (if I wanted to spend the money on a new product, I would. However, I refuse to do that simply because an old version, I bought doesn't work anymore.

    Success!

So, this is a summary of what I've done:

1 has begun with an installation of XP SP3 updated with IE8 installed. At this point, I have the right margin bug in OE6.
    2. uninstalled the latest update of security for IE8, which to this day is KB2559049. Restarted.
    3. (you may need to perform this step in Mode safe) renamed ieframe.dll in C:\Windows\System32 ieframe.old. Ieframe.dll manually copy the LDR version in the second most recent Cumulative Security Update for IE8, which, as of this writing is KB2530548 in the C:\Windows\System32 folder. That version LDR is located at C:\WINDOWS\$hf_mig$\KB2530548-IE8\SP3QFE and is the version 8.00.6001.23165(longhorn_ie8_ldr.110420-1800). Restarted.
    4. check that the right margin bug is now fixed. Windows Update told me that the most recent Cumulative Security Update for IE8, KB2559049, was now available to the installation, I did. Restarted.
    5. check the ieframe.dll version that is now in my C:\Windows\System32 folder and it is 8.00.6001.23192(longhorn_ie8_ldr.110617-1815) as hoped. Confirmed that the bug of the right margin is always fixed.

This procedure does 2 things that just copies the LDR latest version updated security in the System32 folder would not prove it with. :

    (A) this shows that manual copy of the dll LDR of security Cumulative Update and then apply the next update will keep the ieframe.dll on the LDR track. There is no need to worry that the next update replace with the MDM (non-hotfix) version.

    (B) there was a bunch of other DLLs that have been on the LDR track when KB2559049 has been reinstalled, it seems that the ieframe.dll LDR can have dependencies on other DLLs being also in the LDR branch, or vice versa. Simply having the LDR ieframe.dll since the 2nd upgrade newer in the System32 folder when you install the latest, due to the most recent update to other dll LDR trace. This includes iepeers.dll, ieproxy.dll, iertutil.dll, c:\windows\system32\msfeeds.dll, wininet.dll, and xpshims.dll (and probably others). Makes me conclude that my method (steps 1-4 above) is greater than the fair copy in the LDR new dll for ieframe.dll, since the other dependant dll LDR manually will be installed using my method.

  • How can I get Outlook 2003 and 2007, to leave a copy of message on the server?

How can I get Outlook 2003 and 2007, to leave a copy of message on the server? I use Outlook 2003 and it keeps pulling messages out of my email account, I want at least a copy to be left there so that I can access it from anywhere and not just a computer. Thank you.

Also, I use Microsoft exchange server 2007, and this is the account where I would like a copy of stay so that emails are there when I try to access remotely and when I accidentally leave Outlook / my computer on.

    -Ross

    Hi Ross WA,

The concept behind Exchange is an inbox synchronized on all devices (computers, phones, PDA...) and you do not allow to leave messages on the server when it is in an Exchange environment. For more information on leave messages on a mail server, you can visit the following link:
Microsoft Answers provides no support for Microsoft Exchange, even if you can post a question in the TechNet Forums here: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvrclients/threads
I also recommend to contact who manages your Exchange Server as they know your specific Exchange Setup better.
I hope this information helps and thank you for using Microsoft Answers!

  • Real program of Office Outlook 2003 is not, but the rest of Microsoft Office 2003 works perfectly?

Last update automatic installed something that told me that the Office Outlook 2003 is an invalid program.  I do not understand why, after all these years that I used it, it should suddenly become non-genuine!

All other programs, Excel, Word etc work quite happy.

The system I am running is XP Pro and about 2 years ago I had to buy the program disk because I had been sold a non-genuine XP Pro program by a company that didn't exist earlier.

Please do not answer with a load of jargon, I'm a surfer of money and do not know a lot of technical terms!

Any help would be welcome, I'm afraid that the Outlook may stop working if I do not have something on this subject!

    Best regards, Peter.

Its always possible that the MS Genuine tool has only been updated with the fraudulent key, so you're only now become aware.
When the office is finally decided, as non-authentique, I do not think that you will be locked out you will get simply constantly nags and - automatic update will not work.

If elect you to go with the offer of £90, make sure that you select the option to pay extra for the cd, otherwise you would need to keep a copy of the file downloaded to external media as well as the key which is sent by e-mail to you & reception

  • Try to connect Outlook 2003 to my gmail account

I am trying to connect Outlook 2003 to my gmail - Vista as an operating system account; However, I keep getting an error message that says that Outlook could not connect to the server of outgoing (SMTP) mail. I checked the configuration of both the POP3 (995) and SMTP (465), which have the parameters required by gmail.

If you care to compare your entries with the following...
The following is extracted from MS Office Online:
I guess you had no problem on step #3?
    Have you checked step #14?

To use your Gmail e-mail account in Outlook, you must make sure that the POP3 support is enabled in Gmail, and then you can add it to Outlook.

    1. Sign in to your Gmail account.
    2. The top of Gmail, click settings.
    3. In the e-mail settings window, click transfer and POP.

I don't see transfer and POP

Gmail turns on support for POP3 users in phases. If transfer and POP does not appear, your Gmail account cannot be configured for POP3 support.

    4. In the POP download section, select enable POP protocol or all messages or Activate the Protocol POP only for messages coming in the future.
    5. Click Save settings.
    6. In Outlook, on the Tools menu, click e-mail accounts.
    7. Click Add a new e-mail account, and then click Next.
    8. Click POP3, and then click Next.
    9. Under user information, follow these steps:
      1. In the your name box, type your full name the way you want it to appear to other people.
      2. In the e-mail address box, type your username to follow-up e-mail to @gmail.com.
    10. Under Server information, do the following:
      1. In the Incoming mail server (POP3) box, type pop.gmail.com.
      2. Mail server outgoing (SMTP) , enter smtp. Gmail.com.
    11. Under connection information, follow these steps:
      1. In the user name box, type your full e-mail address, including @gmail.com.
      2. In the password box, type your password.
      3. Check the Remember password box.

Note  You can ask to have Outlook remember your password by typing in the password box and selecting the box Remember password . Having Outlook remember your password means that you won't have to type your password every time you access the account. However, it also means that the account is vulnerable to anyone who has access to your computer. Use strong passwords that combine uppercase and lowercase words, numbers, and symbols. Weak passwords don't mix these elements. Strong password: Y6dh! and 5. Weak password: Maison27. Use a password that you can remember so that you don't have to write.

  • Click additional settings.
  • Under the tab general , under mail account, type Gmail.
  • Click on the outgoing server and select the checkbox My outgoing (SMTP) server requires authentication .
  • Select use same settings as my incoming mail server.
  • Click the Advanced tab, and then under the Numbers of Server Port for the Server incoming (POP3) and mail outgoing (SMTP), check the boxes this server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) .
  • Change the port number of the Server outgoing (SMTP) to 465.

The port number of the Server incoming (POP3) should switch automatically to 995 , when you select the checkbox this server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) .

  • Click OK.
  • To verify that your account is working, click Test account settings. If there is missing or incorrect information, such as your password, you will be asked to provide or correct. Make sure that your computer is connected to the Internet.
  • Click Nextand then click Finish.
  • Notes

    • Do not select the checkbox to connect with authentication password secure (SPA) .
    • Unless specified by Gmail, all entries in Server and address are typed in lower case.
  • Internet Explorer 8 and Outlook 2003 lost files

I just got back from a week away. I started my Dell 4600 XP Home.  I came back a few minutes later, open Outlook 2003 and found that all of my email accounts, all emails, folders and saved mail had disappeared. I used I.E.7 and, of course, Software Distribution Service 3.0 set to update IE 8 and deleted all my saved files. I can't do a system restore.  I have to keep IE 8? Can anyone help?

  • MS Outlook 2003 filter junk e-mail - error Code 646

Windows Update keeps saying I have a critical update to install - KB977840 - MS Office Outlook 2003 Junk e-mail filter. However, whenever I try to download it and install it, I get error code (646). I tried to do 13 times now and each time, not luck. I'm getting a little frustrated with this download. Apparently, it worked well in the 2008-12-08 when I installed the latest update of the junk e-mail filter. It does not work now. Any suggestions?

  • Software BlackBerry made Blackberry connection problems with Outlook 2003?

I tried to look through the forums to see if theres any other mention of this but could not find something but it definitely seems to be a problem with one of our PC

My wife has a Win XP SP3 system and running Office 2003 and 2003 Ourlook which, until the installation of Blackberry link worked fine.  When she installed link BB and hung the BB Z10, there was questions first with him saying she had no Media Player installed... She did it... Finally after reinstalling the BB link a few times he seemed to get the message and was able to see Media Player... everything seemed fine, but I was puzzled as to why the link / Unit decided to create a new network icon for Blackberry virtual private network?  After using the link and its Z10 a few days ago she noticed that when she ran outlook 2003 on the system for some reason, she was unable to receive the incoming pop3 to his two accounts mail. She got the following error message...

Task 'pop.gmail.com - receiving ' reported an error (0x800408FC): "the specified server name is found on the network (it might be down temporarily).» Please check that you are connected and that the server name is correct. »

I messed around with the system for a few hours Googling the problem and changing the settings and then change their return but nothing seems to change... and then, after a restart (with not really changed parameters), he started working again?  Last night she again connected the Z10 and ran link synchronized music to his device and then tried to collect e-mails via outlook and he starts again giving an error?

Although I am very HE warned I have only a limited knowledge of the comms etc but I think it might be something to do with the use of IPv6, we use Plusnet as an ISP and according to me, they work mainly on IPv4 currently, while we have installed IPv6 protocols check States online do not use us actually use IPv4 instead.

I have so far not been able to solve the last problem that outlook always gives the show of error above, although on the verification of the account set up, it shows that it is configured properly and always allows him to send an email from outlook and she can always send and receive on the Z10

Any advice on what to try to resolve this situation would be received with gratitude...

    Savel'evna

    Hey Savel'evna,

    Thanks for the quick response.

I am pleased to see that we have highlighted in this one machine, if you will not tie the Z10 BlackBerry as modem then you can keep the VPN BlackBerry off.

Another that what could it be causing a conflict with the BlackBerry VPN, to be honest, I have an application that causes problems with the BlackBerry VPN connection and I have to turn off sometimes.

Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions.

    See you soon.

  • BlackBerry smartphones, Blackberry, Outlook 2003, Exchange Server 2003 H I...

I don't know there is a simple put in place the configuration to solve these problems.  We have recently implemented a new Server Windows 2003 with Microsoft Exchange Server 2003.  There are 4 Blackberry users with different smartphone models.  This time management doesn't want to invest in the Blackberry Professional or Enterprise Server.  I am looking for a knowledge article that treats a configuration set to set up the following questions:

    2. We have ability to create of MX and a records additional.
    3. Blackberry users are dispersed throughout all of the United States using Verizon Wireless as their company.
    4. Some have jobs, some with laptops.
