P10-304 Satellitensystem showing 2 CPUs

Information system and DirectX are both showing that I have 2 processors.
My system is running slow and so decided to restart and it is still showing 2 CPUs and still a bit slow,
any ideas?

I don't know what type of processor you have, but maybe you have a Pentium 4 with hyperthreading technology. This means that you have a physical and a simulated processor.

  • Satellite P10-304: replacing a WLan card - can I the same WiFi chip?

    Hi all

got a satellite P10-304 of a companion here.
He said the free thread never worked on it and hes had it years and someone else has already looked at and changed the TNA wireless card.

Basically, she acts only as the wireless switch does not work and it remains permanently off the coast, although the drivers install correctly and map also shows ok. Simply disconnected.

Now, I thought, okay, I'll take a look because I'm pretty good on the old hardware. Has taken apart and this you know, switch has been bent and not up. I handed the place, checked the switch and stop positions with a multimeter to check the switch worked and he was doing his job perfectly.

    Now it still doesn't.
I guess it is now due to the fact that as I said, the map has been changed since its origin to a processor intel pro jobby.

My question is, I'm right, do I just need to get the same card that was originally in it. I assumed that when the switch is set correct return, that I solved it.

    Hello

The WiFi card must be activated bu switching the switch TO the position (the LED must illuminate) and in addition, you should choose the WLan antenna using the FN + F8 key combination.

    Please check this!

Notes; go to Device Manager-> properties-> Advanced tab Wlan card
There you can check if the WiFi is enabled as well.

  • Satellite P10-304 - update Windows 7 problem

I have a Satellite P10 304 to 2003 which has Windows XP, but I need to update for obvious reasons. I bought a copy of Windows 7 (32 bit) and installed without any installation problem, however I can't update Windows.

I reinstalled, deleted the hard drive and reinstalled again. Tried the stop and start the Windows Update utility.
    Downloaded the stand-alone Windows Update.

Updated the BIOS to V2.0 and downloaded the Toshiba Service Station application (who says no update is necessary).
    All this without success.

My hopes were raised when I saw that the Station Service for Windows 7 32 bit software was available for the P10 304 but I am now at a loss.

Anyone know if this laptop can be upgraded to Windows 7 and how to get updates of work?

    Help is welcome.

    Peter

I'm sure that installation of Windows 7 update problems are not specific to Toshiba problems even if you use the Toshiba laptop.

From my point of few, you should check the Microsoft support pages to find the solution.
    For example this:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/w...#1TC=Windows-7

Just a tip: I had some problems in the past to install updates because of the antirust software. He locked the installation of some essential updates and after you disable temporal, updates could be installed...
Missing Service Packs might concern the single installation of patches.

  • Recovery disk does not work on Satellite Pro P10-304

A few days ago my Satellite P10-304 is not start, so I used recovery CD and got the machine works like new.
    Yesterday it wouldn't boot.
Some thing on an ethernet cable unplugged error message, so I tried recovery CD because there is no data to lose.
It won't work, to come up with an error message "GDISK (E) no such fixed disk - 1" then "error number 11030, invalid destination drive.

Can anyone help me to get it booted/recovered please?
I'm not fussed on something special for this old laptop, just a second computer for the kids to do their homework on.

Hmm. sounds like a HARD drive failure
Have you checked if the HARD drive has been recognized in the BIOS?

    > Something on an Ethernet cable unplugged error message.
I guess you get an error PXE - E61 starting at startup.
This message appears if the laptop tries to boot from LAN.

This could happen if there are no other sources of boot as HARD drive, etc.

  • Satellite P10-304-DVD-ROM/CD-RW questions!

    Hello world

I own one of the original computers Satellite P10-304, which has a DVD-ROM/CD-RW combo drive. For these last months, we have one or two problems with that. It was a little skittish in which CD it reads, but in the last days he almost completely stopped read correctly (audio/data) CD / DVDs. He doesn't seem to know they are there. However, the Player opens and runs well, as if it were playing the CD, but nothing happens on the PC.

Curiously, I then looked on the list of the system, and the DVD-ROM/CD-RW driver had an excalamation mark. Even more curiously, the pilot was called TOSIICA! DWD something or other, when I'm sure it should have been DVD TOSHIBA etc.etc. Following the instructions, I uninstalled and then tried to reinstall, but it does not appear now when I try to add hardware.

    Confusing.

I would be very grateful if anyone has any suggestions?

    See you soon,.

    Ian.

    Hello

It looks like a car damage registry entry.
But that is only my suggestion. The other possibility is broken (lens calibration problem) by car.
You say that you have already removed the drive from the Device Manager, but the peut t OS recognizes the drive again. Well, in this case one of the possibilities is to use the System Restore tool or retrieve the device with the recovery CD.
But if the drive is broken recovery procedure doesn t help. In this case, only the replacement of the drive can solve this problem.

  • P10 - 304 - no display after wake up

    Hello
I sometimes have a display problem with my P10-304. Panel display won't wake up
After waking up from hibernation or suspend-to-RAM. Blue led power is on, HD and CPU fans are working well.

I have preinstalled, xp of origin with v6.4.10.4485 nvidia display drivers) and upgrading the bios (1, 90 - WIN)

In this case, I have to turn off the machine and _delete hibernate data_ to start windows.

What should I check to fix this upward?

    Greetings
    Jarek.

    Hello

Well, it s strange. It's not easy to say what can be the problem.
It would be very interesting to know if the problem will occur if you retrieve the BONES with the recovery CD Toshiba delivered.
Did you use a Toshiba video driver or a driver nVidia graphics?

You must use the graphics driver Toshiba because this driver is designed for the use of the laptop and it s something different as a driver of nVidia.

    Good bye

  • P10-304: matter of procedure strange recovery

I'm a technician + certified PC a customer brought the laptop (Satellite P10-304) to me after she had taken this back to the place she bought. They said she needed a new hard drive. I inserted the DVD of recovery for the A60 (is the only recovery DVD she brought with her) and image the laptop when he went at the start would go to loading windows, he would crawl to take 30 minutes to start. Something is happening with the hard disk transfer rate.

I think it's the hard drive controller OR there is some chipset driver not get loaded from the recovery DVD as it's the fake recovery DVDs. I used Windows XP Home OEM CD as well, but the same problem occurred.
    Any suggestions would be helpful.

    Hello

In my opinion, you are trying to recover the device with a bad recovery CD.
As you said you have a recovery for a Toshiba A60 laptop CD and the unit is a Satellite P10-304. These are two different workbooks and to retrieve the device you need exactly the right recovery CD.

I suggest contacting the after-sales Service of Toshiba partner. Here, you can order the medium right of recovery.

    Good bye

    Satellite P10-304 supports the * 200-pin PC2700 (333 Mhz) DDR SODIMM * modules.

It seems that it would be possible to upgrade to 2 GB RAM max and that's why you can use 2 x 1 GB modules.

I am sorry to say that it resembles a discarded HARD drive.

You can boot from a floppy drive and see the HARD drive at all. If you can, then I suggest trying to format the drive in this way and then tries again.

If this isn't the case, then you should get a new drive.

My drive HARD drive bad sectors developed and replacement needs, does anyone know how to do this?

    My model is a P10-304.

    Follow these steps:
    1. reboot your computer.

A message informs you that disable Norton GoBack erases history and you will not be able to run the hard drive or hard disk restore advanced restore until Norton GoBack is turned back on.
    4. click on Yes.
    5. click on continue.
Your computer restarts automatically, and Norton GoBack is off
After restarting the laptop, I recommend once again using the following key: CTRL + ALT + G.
Immediately press on and hold the keys Ctrl + Alt + G after restarting the laptop you. A message you giving the possibility to force the removal of GoBack master boot record. Press F to force the removal of GoBack master boot record.

If failure of keys Ctrl + Alt + G in the first time then try this again for three or four times until you get the prompt to remove the master boot record of GoBack.
    Finally, restart the computer.

  • USB 160GB HDD - Satellite P10-304 doesn't see 127.9 GB

Can someone help please, I bought a new 160 GB Seagate Momentus HDD.

I put in a USB enclosure and connected, but when I go to Paragon Disk Copy he can see a disc unformatted 127.9 GB.

If I right click on 'My Computer' and use 'Manage', it says I have a unknown 128 GB drive connected.

I updated my BIOS to the latest available from Toshiba (2, 00 - WIN) dated 27/04/06 (on the Toshiba site "last updated on 27/04/06"). However, in the information system, he says: "BIOS Version/Date TOSHIBA V2.00, 28/12/2004", correct version but date looks old? on the site Web of Toshiba the last BIOS (V1.60) is listed as: last modification 15/12/05?

Does anyone know if the Bios allows more than 128 GB of disks?

If the answer is no, what are my options? If I go ahead and copy the disk it will work as usual, but as a 128 MB drive? Later if a new Bios is published, allowing disks of large capacity will be the full space available or should I take a disc image, reformat the hard disk and then copy the image (only have a record of this great would mean that I have to use another PC to achieve this).

Its a real pain, ideas or thoughts?

    Many thanks Tony

    Laptop: P10-304 running XP Home.

    Hello

I m not 100% sure if it has something to do with the BIOS.
I think that it s simply a matter of calculation.
HDD dealers calculate with 1000 and they must calculate with 1024. But the difference is still to oversized

Please also check the size of the HARD drive in the other sense. After the fixing of the external HARD drive, you could right click on the HARD drive and check the properties.

    BIOS:
Y, please read the more info section. You'll find info that the 1.60 BIOS update is only for the satellite P10 series models that contain "PSP13E" or "PSP16E" in the model number and version 2.0 of the BIOS update is only for the satellite P10 series models that contain "PSP10E" in the model number.
